    Chapter Index

It was spoken with his mouth in the situation at hand, and even if Leon was given some time to think and put it into words, he couldn’t accurately describe that state of mind at the time.

So he simply couldn’t give Loseweather a reasonable explanation.

“Hmph, then aren’t you still taking things at face value? What half-truth? It’s just a lousy excuse that you came up with on the fly.”

Of course she knew Leon wasn’t making believe, much less making lame excuses.

And the only reason she would even say that was to make it hard for Leon.

I’ve just tricked this Queen into a little touch with my flowery words, and now I have to pay for it.

“Gee whiz, believe it or not, I’m not going to waste my breath trying to get you to believe me.”

    Ewwwww, look at you squirming.

You say you’re too lazy to waste your breath, but in your heart you still want to make me understand what you’re thinking, don’t you?

Hmph, Leon, sure we’re arch-enemies, but isn’t the prerequisite for being an arch-enemy to know enough about each other

The little things you have in your mind are sometimes written right on your face.

Loseweather was pleased with Leon’s reaction.

I had thought he was going to have a few words with himself and take the situation to a tense level of saber-rattling and gun-scrubbing.

I didn’t realize that although it was still so tough-mouthed, there was some softness in it that I hadn’t seen before.

Loseweather breathed a slow sigh of relief, thinking that was enough for tonight.

It’s too late to turn in your homework, and it’s less than three hours until dawn.

    Some other time.

Just as she was about to let Leon go, however, she heard the dog-man recite again, in hushed tones.

“I did not think that you actually care so much about me at that time with your sister’s that promise ah …… that would not want to make a fake show with me – uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh!”

Without waiting for Leon to finish his sentence, Lois Visser copied the large teddy bear from the bed and blindfolded Leon in the face.

The dragonslayer beneath him fought and wrung his body, but Loseweather sat steady on him.

“Murder! Roseweather, this is murder! Uh-uh-uh-uh!”

“Heh, it’s the teddy bear that killed you, what does it have to do with me, Los Vespers? Hubby, you and go well!”

    “唔唔唔唔(洛丝薇瑟)!”

“What what? I can’t hear you… Hubby, just hold it in, it won’t be hard for a while…”

She hadn’t used much force, and Leon’s struggles hadn’t been of a life-or-death sort.

It’s just one more piece of the two couples’ daily fling.

But Leon’s hand, patting haphazardly, suddenly touched something slightly hard on the teddy bear’s back.

His movements jerked and his thoughts went back a long way.

It was when Los Vesper was in a coma from using Blood Confusion, and he was at Los Vesper’s side all day, taking care of her, washing her face, scrubbing her body, and whatnot.

One day Leon was so tired that he fell asleep on the side of Roseweather’s bed, and his hand accidentally touched this teddy bear he had given to Roseweather.
