Chapter 7: Moon Goddess (2/2)
by Jessie@AFNCCBecause comparing either the Lin or Yang family alone with the Zhao family, their backgrounds and other aspects were about equal.
But when the Lin and Yang families united, the Zhao family had to temporarily back down.
Of course, such situations rarely happened.
Otherwise, people wouldn’t compare Zhao Fuchen with Lin Tian – the comparison only worked when counting just the Lin family, not the Yang family!
Zhao Fuchen’s appearance subtly changed the room’s atmosphere again.
Even Qin Ruofei, holding Lin Tian’s arm, tensed slightly.
Though everyone showed her great respect now, calling her Sister Feifei or Sister-in-law regardless of age, Qin Ruofei knew clearly that if she weren’t Lin Tian’s fiancée, she might not even have gotten into this room today!
Only two people remained composed.
One was Li Shiqing, who quickly regained composure.
The other was Lin Tian, who sat calmly on the sofa throughout.
The former had prepared countermeasures, the latter simply didn’t care.
His original self’s memories about Zhao Fuchen weren’t lost, he even clearly remembered all their past conflicts!
Whether over Li Shiqing or other matters.
“I originally didn’t want to have this welcome party. It was a last-minute decision, and I thought you might be too busy to notify,” Li Shiqing said, neither coldly nor warmly.
Zhao Fuchen had a good build – 1.8 meters tall but not bulky, rather stylish.
He walked in with his wine glass, had his two followers close the door, then poured himself half a glass of wine and offered it to Li Shiqing: “That’s too casual. We’re childhood friends after all – you must drink this as punishment.”
Li Shiqing subtly glanced at Lin Tian, then took the glass, smiling: “Fine, I’ll drink it.”
This subtle movement didn’t escape Zhao Fuchen’s notice, darkening his eyes momentarily. But pretending not to see Lin Tian, he waited until Li Shiqing sipped the wine, then pulled out a handkerchief from his jacket pocket and gently reached to wipe the wine from her lips.
“After five years, our Sister Shiqing has grown even more beautiful.” Zhao Fuchen’s movements were extremely gentle. When wiping Li Shiqing’s lips, he deliberately put down his wine glass to show respect and his attitude.
He valued Li Shiqing highly.
However, noticing his movement, Li Shiqing stepped back slightly, just avoiding Zhao Fuchen’s hand while maintaining a not-too-distant space.
“I can do it myself. Since you’re such a busy person appearing at Maple Forest Club, you must have business to attend to? I won’t keep you – better handle your important matters first.” Li Shiqing smoothly resolved Zhao Fuchen’s awkward situation.
Even so, Zhao Fuchen’s hand froze briefly before returning to normal as he smiled: “Nothing important really. Just that Master Chen’s disciple Chen Manqing is showcasing her art at Maple Forest Club today. I was fortunate to receive an invitation to attend.”
Though he spoke casually, his proud expression betrayed his feelings.
Hearing his words, the room exploded.
Xu Ziqi exclaimed: “Chen Manqing? The girl genius in both martial arts and painting, known as the Moon Goddess Chen Manqing?!”
Li Shiqing also raised her eyebrows in surprise. She had heard much about this Moon Goddess!
In painting, Li Shiqing was also highly skilled. Many had compared her with Chen Manqing. However, besides her exceptional painting skills, Chen Manqing was also accomplished in martial arts and was the granddaughter of Chen Guanchao, the honorary chairman of the Chinese Martial Arts Association!
Such status wasn’t below any of these young masters present!
Plus, Chen Manqing herself was an extraordinary woman of the age – many young masters here had only heard her name but never seen her!
Now Zhao Fuchen said Chen Manqing was showcasing her art at Maple Forest Club and had invited him – how could they not be shocked?
They knew Chen Guanchao was famous for his integrity and disliked official circles’ complexities. Chen Manqing had perfectly inherited her grandfather’s character – forget about actively inviting, even if their fathers asked Chen Manqing to showcase her art, they’d be ruthlessly rejected!
This made Zhao Fuchen’s invitation extremely significant!
At least, the other person known as king and marquis hadn’t been invited!
So even Zhao Fuchen used the word “fortunate”!
The difference was clear!
In this world, red background was important, but martial arts was another world above theirs!
Yes!
Above!
In today’s China, though martial arts weren’t exactly flourishing, they were much more prosperous than before.
All because of a border conflict years ago – when China couldn’t officially intervene, Chinese martial artists successfully stopped foreign insults to China!
Some secretly glanced at Lin Tian, who hadn’t spoken since Zhao Fuchen arrived, wondering how this young man who usually outranked Zhao Fuchen would react to this news.
However, Lin Tian’s reaction surprised them.
Because he looked confused.
He was indeed confused.
Chen Manqing?
This name… why did it sound so familiar?
