    Episode 86

    3.

    It was as expected.

“Tsk tsk. That rotten guy. If you’re coming you should’ve called ahead and told me. What if you come all of a sudden like this?”

“I’m not in a place I shouldn’t be so why are you doing that Grandma?”

“If I had known you were coming I would have gone to the market.”

“Hey this is a feast. There’s even pork as a side dish.”

“Siwoo. That pig is a wild boar that I caught myself. The chieftain who leads the tribe must also have excellent hunting skills in order to feed the tribe. There happened to be wild boars wandering around the mountain behind the village so I caught one. Haha!”

Aiden stopped eating his rice cake and tapped his chest with a proud expression.

It was Gobongbap but it was on a different level from the Gobongbap I expected.

He filled a bowl with rice and was eating it without stopping.

Just looking at the amount he eats in one meal it seems similar to what Siyeon eats in a month.

If only I had my way I would have ripped off the food expenses right away.

    “Eden. Eat a lot.”

“Grandma. Very good. The soybean paste soup is delicious.”

“If you need any side dishes just let me know.”

    “Thank you.”

I couldn’t say anything out loud because my grandmother was taking such good care of Aiden.

I let out a small sigh as I watched my grandmother pat Aiden on the back. Then I nodded as I took a bite of my grandmother’s special wild boar bulgogi.

    “It’s delicious.”

The sweet and spicy seasoning that permeates the meat is truly exquisite. Just eating one bite will make you want to drink soju a taste that truly calls for alcohol.

There was absolutely no gamey smell and the meat was so tender that the rice went down smoothly.

My grandmother’s cooking skills are truly exceptional.

From kimchi to side dishes there was no food he couldn’t make.

It’s no wonder Aiden fell in love with his grandmother’s cooking.

“Eden is much better than that grandson whose face I can’t even see.”

“The only person in this world who affectionately calls him Eden is my grandmother.”

“Eden chases away wild boars and chops firewood. He helps me with my work so much but my grandson just sits there feeling ugly and jealous. Tsk tsk. What a loser.”

“Haha! Siwoo. Your grandmother also likes me very much. Your friend’s grandmother will soon be my grandmother! Don’t worry. As long as I am in Korea I will definitely protect your family.”

Actually looking at Grandma’s behavior patterns it seems that she doesn’t particularly like Aiden…

    ‘Maybe he’s being trained?’

I didn’t know that they were being treated as some kind of ox-like beings that helped with farm work.

    An irregular servant?

    It will certainly be useful.

“By the way Siwoo. What’s going on here all of a sudden? I heard that an unknown infectious disease has appeared in Daejeon. Is it okay if I go?”

It seems that information about the horse soldiers also reached Aiden.

    I nodded slowly and answered.

“I’m already on my way here after solving the problem.”

“I heard it wasn’t caused by a pathogen… If you Siwoo took action yourself then it must have been related to magic.”

“You know it in pretty good detail don’t you?”

“Our information power is the best in the world.”

“My sudden arrival here is also an extension of that matter. And… didn’t Lady Emma already know I was coming?”

I looked at Mrs. Emma who had already finished her meal and was quietly drinking her tea and asked her in a casual manner.

The reason I came here today was to ask her several questions about causality.

Mrs. Emma smiled inexplicably at my direct question.

“I said it then but I can’t predict Siwoo’s future. I just thought Siwoo would have a lot of questions.”

I felt it even then but when I talk to this old lady I get a strong feeling that we are exchanging Zen questions and answers.

Just when I was about to start asking serious questions about her vague remarks.

    Taaaaah!

I felt a spicy taste on my back and soon the shock spread throughout my body.

“How many times did your grandmother tell you that you shouldn’t talk about work at the dinner table?”

    “No Grandma. It’s really urgent.”

“If you’re going to talk about work you should at least finish eating. Look at Eden. She’s already finished eating.”

“That’s because he eats so well! If other people ate like that their stomachs would explode and they’d die.”

Why does it hurt so much when it’s a back smash with no magic power? It’s really a mystery.

Even if Luna were to hit him in the back with a sledgehammer it would still sting.

It was clear that there was a secret hidden in Grandma’s palm.

“I’ll prepare some snacks separately so eat up first you punk. It looks like you haven’t been eating properly so you should eat well here before you go.”

Grandmother’s sincerity contained in her rough speech.

I smiled faintly at my grandmother’s words.

    “okay.”

“Grandma! Just one more bowl for me. It’s delicious!”

“Hey. Don’t you have hands? Go and eat it yourself. Don’t ask grandma to do it.”

If only Aiden hadn’t been there it would have been a really warm conversation between grandmother and grandson.

Anyway I’m telling you he’s a useless guy.

    4.

    After meal time.

After preparing some refreshments Grandma took Aiden out for a walk telling him to have a relaxing conversation.

So Mrs. Emma and I were left alone in the house.

I took a sip of my grandmother’s warm plum tea and spoke in a quiet voice.

“I want to know about causality. More precisely I want to know the vague criteria for causality compliance.”

I still couldn’t use my full power on Earth. If there was a penalty that limited the system in this way it would be best to avoid it as much as possible.

A world where anything can happen right now without it being strange.

In this world nothing was more fatal than having your power limited.

I was given a penalty and a warning but when I actually received the penalty it was very uncomfortable.

When used in Kuro-gu and Japan it did not inflict any penalties and honestly in terms of scale the Wings of Purification cast during Yamata no Orochi were larger.

For me I can’t help but feel that the standard is ambiguous.

    “Oh I see.”

Mrs. Emma looked at me with a leisurely expression.

“It looks like you failed the causal compatibility test. Right Siwoo?”

    “That’s correct.”

“I don’t know how to explain this. Could you please wait a moment?”

She quickly sorted out her thoughts in her head.

And then taking a breath he continued speaking.

“I hope you understand in advance that I cannot perfectly explain the system’s judgment.”

    “Of course.”

“The reason Si-woo was penalized this time is because he was directly involved in the fate of countless lives. There is a huge difference between intervening before an incident occurs and intervening after an incident occurs.”

A blue light flowed from Mrs. Emma’s eyes.

“Let’s look at those who Si-woo saved. If it weren’t for Si-woo most of them would have died. In other words their fate was decided the moment they contracted the disease. As Si-woo knows it was a disease with a very high mortality rate right?”

“Are you saying that if I revive patients who are in a situation where they are going to die with my ability that will also be subject to the law of causality?”

“It’s only half right. If Siwoo had shown such a miracle to those who sincerely believed in Limen then it would have been a reasonable result. It is not an act that goes against the law of causality that Limen’s miracles come to those who sincerely believe in Limen.”

A detailed explanation of the law of causality which was vaguely felt follows.

    Sharrruk-.

Mrs. Emma scattered a halo into the air. Then the halo transformed into the phenomenon of scales.

“In such cases the ‘faith’ of mortals rises on the left side of the scale and the ‘miracle’ rises on the opposite side. If enough ‘faith’ is secured the scale will be balanced.”

“Is the causality also applied to other players and returnees?”

“It is true that this is usually the case but it is also true that it is applied particularly strictly to Si-woo. The reason is that Si-woo’s power ultimately originates from ‘divine power’ that is ‘faith.’”

Mrs. Emma takes another sip of the green tea placed in front of her.

Even though the green tea had been brewed for a long time steam was rising from her cup.

“So to summarize what you just said Madam… You saved people who should have died from illness and most of those people happened to be people who didn’t have faith in Limen. So the balance of causality was broken?”

“That’s great. As expected Siwoo is really smart just like we heard from Eunyoung. For example if everyone Siwoo saved had faith in Limen the penalty would have been significantly reduced.”

“I think your standards for me are too strict.”

“That means the Earth’s system is aware of Siwoo.”

In short it means that he will not allow anyone to travel around the world and miraculously heal people from terminal illnesses.

“As time passes and the influence of the Limen sect expands the causality limit will also become more relaxed. Don’t you feel that the causality problem has been greatly alleviated compared to when Siwoo returned?”

    “That’s true.”

Compared to before when it was necessary to go through a causal fit examination the frequency has definitely decreased.

Still I understood it. It was worth taking the time to come see Mrs. Emma.

    The conclusion was simple.

For the time being we will refrain from directly interfering with anyone’s life and continue to expand our religious influence.

    About those two.

It’s frustrating but there’s nothing I can do about it.

Still it’s fortunate that Mrs. Emma’s explanations are much more specific than before.

    “Siu.”

Mrs. Emma put down her glass and looked at me quietly.

And he said in a low voice.

“I know you feel wronged but Siwoo needs to understand. The system is trying to maintain balance in some way. If the balance is lost a terrible disaster will occur on Earth.”

    “Thank you for the advice.”

“As you get older you become more talkative. Haha. If you have any questions feel free to come back and ask. I’ll be happy to share any information I can find with Siwoo.”

    …That means.

“Are you going to continue to stay in Korea?”

“I’ve already paid Eunyoung six months’ rent. I think there will be a lot of work to do here for the time being. So come by anytime.”

Isn’t it true that the reason why relations between the United States and South Korea are rapidly improving is not only due to my intentions but also to Mrs. Emma’s?

I don’t know why she wants to stay here but one thing is certain.

The fact that the land I stand on will continue to be noisy in the future.

I could guess that much without having to think about it too much.

“I look forward to more in the future Siwoo.”

I couldn’t help but smile as I listened to Mrs. Emma’s soft voice.

In any case it was definitely a fruitful conversation.

    5.

After finishing tea time with Kim Si-woo Emma Miller quietly looked out the window at the Korean mountains.

For her Korea was a beautiful land. She happened to meet a friend who she liked and through that friend she met a new irregular.

She thought that all these coincidences were guided by the system. If the system had not been involved would these ridiculous coincidences have occurred?

While I was resting I happened to meet Ko Eun-young and followed her to Korea. But then I found out that Ko Eun-young was the grandmother of Kim Si-woo the new irregular in Korea.

There were countless coincidences and connections intertwined.

    ‘It’s a coincidence. Let’s call it fate.’

Something that can only be explained by fate.

Such a coincidence could not have occurred without the fate guided by the system.

    “Madam.”

It was none other than American Irregular Aiden Howard who woke her up from her rut.

Emma Miller smiled kindly as she looked at Aiden who boasted a bear-like build.

    “You’re back. How’s Eunyoung?”

“He told me to go up first and that he would prepare some side dishes for Siwoo.”

“Isn’t this a really warm family?”

    “I’m envious.”

Aiden sat down in his chair with a bitter smile.

Emma Miller remembered a story she had once heard about Aiden.

His world was stained by numerous wars. A man who overcame the wars with the sole purpose of meeting his beloved wife and eventually returned to Earth.

But when he returned to Earth after going through all kinds of hardships his beloved wife was no longer there.

Aiden’s wife died in a sudden gate that was created in LA two years after the opening of Dimension.

Because of this Aiden Howard has been given many labels.

‘The Irregular with the highest chance of becoming a villain.’

Most of the Awakened who are in a state of mental instability become villains and cause chaos in society.

There is no disaster more terrible than an irregular being becoming a villain.

To the US government Aiden was that kind of person.

The most difficult to control irregular and a time bomb.

Emma Miller has always been aware of Aiden but the recent changes in Aiden have been very encouraging to her.

“How long do you plan to stay here?”

“As long as you stay here Madam I intend to continue to stay here.”

“I see. It seems like Aiden really likes Siu too.”

“A compassionate absolute being. That alone is reason enough for me to like him. And he is also a warrior whose back I can trust and rely on.”

“It’s a good change. For the sake of our two young friends I think I should stay here longer.”

    “Haha! I’m fine.”

Aiden burst into laughter as he picked up the bottle of whiskey that was on the table. He opened the cap and took three sips in a row.

“Madam I have one question for you.”

“You seem to be asking me a lot of questions today. What are they Aiden?”

“I don’t think the Oracle would have stayed here without a reason. The fact that you stayed here and that your home country allowed it means that you saw something.”

Aiden took another sip of his drink. Then he wiped his mouth with his hand and said.

“What kind of future do you see here Madam?”

    “well.”

At Aiden’s question she slowly closed her eyes.

And then he answered quietly in a very quiet voice.

“I’m not sure if what I saw was really the future. Hehe.”

    ‘That’s the future….’

Emma Miller leaned back in her chair and kept her mouth shut.

I think it would be best not to say any more than this.

    At least she thought so.

    Our Pope please stop this
