Somebody Stop the Pope – 78
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 78
5.
Suddenly I remembered the Yeonbaek Guild guys I had dealt with when I went to pick up Seungwoo a while ago.
Those who awakened as magic users through something called the Awakener’s Elixir.
Because the magic was incomplete due to the medicine the guys couldn’t actively use the magic.
But the guys here were different.
Chorrrrrrrr!
These guys were used to using magic.
Just like the guys we faced last time at the 2nd building of the Ability Management Department they use magic to transform their bodies.
Tentacles made of magic stretched out towards me and dark magic seeped through the gaps between the tentacles.
And that’s not all.
Some of the guys rushed at me with their entire bodies’ magic power running wild.
It looked like he was trying to hug me and commit suicide.
But their tantrums had no effect on me at all.
Because it was a battle that wasn’t supposed to happen in the first place.
[Active skill <Inviolable Lv. Max> is activated.]
[No impure energy can invade your sacred realm.]
The light that emitted from my body instantly dissipated all the magic.
As the sect grew the restrictions on causality were greatly relaxed so the magic of these pyramids could not handle me.
In the first place my divine power was given to destroy the devil. It was a power that existed for the punishment of the gods rather than performing miracles like other priests.
For those who have accepted the magic with their whole body it cannot help but act as a power of extreme toxicity that is more terrible than extreme poison.
“Did you think that if you hide it with a barrier it would really be hidden?”
I walked forward slowly laughing at the guys.
There was no need to move my body against these guys.
Cheeeeeeek-.
The bodies of enemies touched by the divine power I emit are terribly destroyed.

The bodies transformed by magic flowed down like mud and those who had been spewing magic from their entire bodies turned to ash.
It took less than a minute to clear out all the guys waiting on the first floor.
I walked through the hall covered in mud and ash and headed towards the stairs.
The second and third floors were just an illusion.
“How deep have these guys dug underground?”
Magi was rising from deep underground.
Kyaaaaaaaah-!
A roar like the howling of a beast echoed from below and soon a two-headed demonic beast leaped out from the darkness of the underground.
Hellhound a dog with a red body.
The fact that a demon appears in this place where there was no gate means that someone has summoned the demon by offering a sacrifice.
“Yes it’s a dog.”
In Eden I’ve caught countless demons. The Hellhound came out with great momentum but as soon as it saw me it trembled and stepped back.
It was a result of the passive skill called <Demon’s Natural Enemy> that I acquired while slaughtering demons.
I continued to descend lightly bursting the hearts of the terrified hellhounds.
And after a while.
“Is that you?”
I was able to face the person who was standing in front of the summoning magic circle while wearing a robe.
Around him were the corpses of people who had been used as sacrifices. And behind him was a facility filled with iron cages that seemed to be a place to imprison people.
The only good thing is that there are still people alive in there.
I didn’t know that something like this would happen so openly in South Korea.
Were you sure you wouldn’t get caught?
And seeing this makes me convinced.
“This is where the altar was right?”
This is the place called ‘the altar’ that Lee Se-hee was talking about.
At first I wondered what that meant but ‘altar’ was literally ‘altar’.
A place for offering sacrifices.
I let out a soft breath as I looked at the robed man.
The pungent smell of blood and rotten smell wafted up to my nose. And the source of that rotten smell was the guy wearing the robe.
Thanks to that I was able to easily figure out the guy’s identity.
“Rich.”
“The Great One’s plan has already been accomplished. Slave of God. This time you are one step too late.”
Although the gnome’s appearance without his robes was clearly human his undead nature could not be hidden.
A sinister voice vibrates the air.
Rich.
That guy was definitely a lich.
I thought that other branches would also be managed by humans considering the guy who terrorized the Ability Management Office building last time.
But that was just my mistake.

I never expected that there would be a Lich in human skin out there.
“It’s a waste of time to catch them and extract information.”
Until I entered here I had planned to capture the branch manager alive and extract information from him.
But since things had come to this it seemed like we would have to give up on extracting any meaningful information.
“Now even the undead are made in China? Anyway I can’t help but look at them favorably.”
“Our plan comes true…”
“I didn’t ask.”
There was nothing more to hear.
I ran straight towards Richie and grabbed him by the neck.
As my divine power reached him the human mask he was wearing fell off revealing a skeleton with green eyes.
A situation where if you pour in divine power it will disappear immediately.
Unlike Richie at the Kuro-gu Gate who had been going wild the guy didn’t even put up a fight.
Instead he locks eyes with me and speaks in a gloomy voice.
『Unlike that world in this world you’re the only one who can stop us. Isn’t it true that even that damn Limen you serve can’t help you?』
He is recognizing me.
That means this guy also came from Eden.
The guy looked down at me as if mocking me.
『This world is full of hate. It is a truly wonderful world in His eyes. Can the mortals here unite and fight? Even though we were defeated in Eden Black Pope your world will eventually collapse.』
A voice full of curses.
I looked up at Richie who was talking nonstop.
“For a Richie he’s unusually talkative.”
“Suffocate in helplessness. The end that suits you alone-”
Passs …
As the divine power flowed in Lich’s body collapsed from the head down.
The guy couldn’t even scream and just turned to ash and flowed away and I frowned as I brushed the black ash off my gloves.
“Who would be alone you crippled skeleton.”
He knew that he couldn’t contact Limen. So is it their fault that he can’t contact Limen now?
My head started to get complicated.
But I was not given time to worry.
Kwarrrrrrrrrr-!
Was it because of the disappearance of the Richie? The building or rather the ground around where the building was built began to shake violently.
It was a rampage that occurred when Lich died while the contamination of Magi was not removed.
“It’s too late to solve it quietly.”
There are still survivors here. There was nothing we could do about it.
I sighed and then spread my divine power in all directions.
People need to be saved and seen.
6.
I calmed the magi’s rampage with my divine powers and then went straight to check on the survivors who were trapped in the iron cage.
The total number of survivors was twelve.
Naturally their condition was not good. Aside from physical trauma they were all suffering from mental shock.
How many people would be able to maintain their sanity after seeing a human sacrifice right before their eyes?
Moreover half of the twelve were children elementary school students at best.
In a way it was natural. The purer the soul the higher the value as a sacrifice and naturally the souls of children are purer than those of adults.
These children were probably sold from somewhere.
“Sorry for being late.”
All I can do for the half-conscious victims right now is to give them a little bit of peace.
I carefully wrapped the victims who were trembling in the corner with my divine power.
Then they all fell asleep quietly.
After briefly letting the survivors sleep he turned around and returned to the magic circle where the corpses that had been sacrificed were.
All the corpses that were possessed by magic were purified through the ritual.
But there were corpses that died in pain without even being able to close their eyes. I approached them and closed their eyes. Then I slowly stood up and said.
“You’re moving fast. It’s been 10 minutes but didn’t you say this is your area of responsibility?”
A group of hunters appeared in the dim darkness.
Hunters wearing the Hive Guild armbands we saw in the outer area earlier.
They charged into the floor I was on armed with swords spears shields and other equipment ready to start fighting at any moment.
I quietly looked at the hunters belonging to the Hive Guild.
They don’t let down their guard against me as if they are thinking of killing me.
But that was only for a moment as the man who had been standing at the very front wearing a helmet took off his helmet and walked forward.
“We apologize. Our team members were sensitive during the Code Yellow situation. We apologize Pope Kim Si-woo.”
“We’re old friends right? I thought you’d stop by the shrine once but I was a little disappointed that you didn’t come. Oh Jun-woo. It’s nice to see you again but the location isn’t very good.”
Oh Jun-woo.
An S-class hunter belonging to the Hive Guild whom Luna met at the Wolmido Gate when she first came to Earth.
I still remember that fierce face that made me fall head over heels for Luna.
You were probably just staring at Luna with a blank expression until she left the scene?
I remember it because I was able to escape from that scene thanks to this person.
“But… Mr. Oh Jun-woo’s team members seem to have different thoughts?”
I said pointing at the hunters behind Oh Jun-woo who were still aiming their weapons.
“Team Leader. This is Code Yellow. You must follow the order. By order of your superiors eliminate all survivors…”
Kwaaaaaaaang!
“I’m sorry Siwoo. Our team is new and lacks work. I would appreciate your understanding.”
Oh Jun-woo said punching his teammate who had been talking just a moment ago.
The team member who was hit by Oh Jun-woo was thrown into the air and slammed into the wall and only then did the other team members quickly put away their weapons.
“You are a very strict boss.”
“I saved that guy’s life.”
“I was thinking of compromising by giving up one arm just to see Junwoo’s face.”
“Thank you for your understanding.”
“By the way I thought you said there was an order to kill all survivors? Did I mishear that?”
Oh Jun-woo nodded his head with a weak smile in response to my question.
“Code Yellow. This means that there is a catastrophic contamination. What the newbie said was only the worst case scenario.”
“The worst?”
“Sometimes there are villains who use the player’s abilities to study deadly bacteria or viruses. A last-ditch effort to prevent the spread of contamination… I guess you could think of it that way.”
There was no confidence in Oh Jun-woo’s face as he spoke. Rather his face was filled with regret and skepticism.
Last time we met at Wolmido Oh Jun-woo was brimming with confidence but now there was no sign of confidence on his face.
I stared at Oh Jun-woo’s face for a moment in silence. Then I spoke in a low voice.
“You didn’t ask what happened. If I were you I would just ask because I was curious… or.”
I slowly approached Oh Jun-woo.
And then she put her hand on his shoulder and whispered quietly.
“Do you already know something?”
No matter how secretly the Purifiers moved they would have continued to collect sacrifices.
This is the home ground of the Hive Guild.
Could it really be that they didn’t know anything?
“Mr. Junwoo.”
“…Yes Your Holiness.”
“If Junwoo hadn’t had that expression on his face right now my attitude might have changed.”
Oh Jun-woo clenched his fists as he looked at the corpses on the magic circle.
He clenched his fist so hard that blood was dripping from his hand.
I looked at Oh Jun-woo like that and spoke in a low voice.
“I’ve already called the Ability Management Department. We’ll take care of cleaning up here. So Junwoo you can go back.”
“but….”
“Your face looks like it has a lot of worries. May I give you a piece of advice?”
There was still no blood on his hands.
Oh Jun-woo is not a bad person.
The circumstances are just leading him to become a bad person. If he were truly a person worthy of being called a <bad person> the will to destroy evil would have been activated.
The reason Luna was friendly to Oh Jun-woo back then was probably because Luna instinctively understood this person’s humanity. Luna originally had that ability.
So I want to give him a chance.
“If a person lives holding back what he wants to say he will become sick. Even our Limen-nim cannot easily cure that kind of illness. Shouldn’t he live while saying what he wants to say?”
“Your Holiness.”
“The suggestion I made last time still stands. When you have time please stop by the temple. Let’s have a nice talk then.”
Do you understand what I mean?
Oh Jun-woo who had decided on something nodded heavily and answered.
“Thank you for the advice.”
“No problem.”
Collapse always begins with a small crack.
Just like right now.
I let out a small breath as I looked at Oh Jun-woo’s face.
Will he really move the way I want him to?
Our Pope please stop this
