Somebody Stop the Pope – 52

Episode 52
3.
The supply contract with the Goblin Guild was successfully concluded thanks to Minsu’s help.
I think I underestimated the purchasing power of players.
According to Minsu’s explanation the survival rate of its players has been a long-standing concern for all guilds.
Even if you bring in players with high potential it’s all for naught if they die on the spot.
That is why up until now there has been a lot of chaos in each country trying to recruit players with even a little bit of healing ability.
That’s also why the world was in chaos with the appearance of divine players who were expected to have healing abilities.
“If we have secured enough funds to run the sect for the time being how about temporarily holding off on using the highest-grade sacred stones?”
Currently it is Leo’s job to manage the sanctuary.
Leo was continuing his grueling workload of translating the Bible during the day and consecrating it at night.
If you think about it you could say he is the biggest contributor to this contract.
I smiled awkwardly as I looked at Leo like that.
“Are you having a hard time? I even set up Wi-Fi for you… and I ordered all the game consoles you wanted as well as the Pineapple Watch and Pineapple Pad.”
Since Leo had a big contribution of course I took care of him as much as I could.
Since Leo was interested in the latest civilization on Earth starting with smartphones I ordered a lot of related products.
Are you not satisfied with this? Then it’s a bit difficult.
“No Your Majesty. These top-grade sacred stones are of a quality that is not easily obtained even in Eden.”
“I know too.”
“We cannot produce the weapons of a paladin or a warrior priest right now but I believe it is right to stockpile them for the future.”
“I agree with Leo Your Majesty. With so many threats lurking around on Earth I think we need to stock up on materials to make weapons.”
“hmm.”
I spat at their words.
And then he said glancing at Leo’s expression.
“Leo is it possible that you don’t want to work?”
Shudder.

Huh? I just flinched.
“…No that’s not true. I just….”
“I know I know. I was just joking. If someone saw me they’d think I was a bad boss.”
“Haha our Holiness has been like that since Eden. I said there has never been a bad Pope.”
Let’s just ignore Luna’s words.
I sighed as I sat down in my office chair running my hand over my face for a moment.
“The divine stone bracelets I handed over to CEO Choi today were made using pieces of the highest grade divine stone which is why they had that level of effect.”
“We know that too. But Your Majesty you also know that most of the bracelets distributed to the common people in Eden were made of low-grade sacred stones right?”
“That must have been the case. That way the unit price would have been right.”
“Then this is how it should be done. Let’s convert and use low-grade magic stones excluding the additional quantity to be handed over to the Goblin Guild. As I saw earlier didn’t the funds already come in?”
The Knights of Palma led by Luna was known as the most financially sound order within the religious order.
Since the amount of money they raised on their own was considerable their self-reliance was also high.
That was probably thanks to Luna who had been showing off her tenacity since she was young.
Luna was always playful but when it came to money she was a total mess.
“Money is the same wherever people live. When I look at it through my smartphone Earth looks much more authentic than Eden.”
“That would be true. It’s a place where the value of money is much more precious than Eden.”
Wasn’t it Limen’s consideration that brought our capitalist knight Luna to Earth?
I thought about it for a moment and then nodded slowly.
“Then let’s think about it that way. Since there are no knights for you to personally lead right now Luna you should take care of the management for the time being.”
“I can do it temporarily right now but… wouldn’t it be better to hire a professional?”
“That’s obvious.”
The difficulty level is different from running a church in Eden. The social structure of Earth is much more complex than that of Eden.
That’s why Luna is only a temporary worker.
Before the organization grew in size it was essential to secure personnel to manage the finances and operations of the organization.
“I already asked CEO Choi to find someone for me. Don’t worry.”
“thank god.”
Those Baekmyeonggyo guys are already expanding their influence more seriously than we are.
Since they have joined hands with the Jeon Gak-ryeon they will probably become a much more threatening competitor than the established religions.
But it’s still okay.
Because we still had strengths that the Baekmyeonggyo guys didn’t have.
“Brother Minsu.”
“Yes Your Holiness.”
“How is the growth of the Limen Church YouTube channel?”
“It’s amazing. Especially since Luna-sama appeared on Hive Guild’s broadcast last time traffic has increased rapidly. There are a lot of people emailing me asking when Luna-sama’s videos will be uploaded.”
Even from my perspective it was definitely an impressive debut.
As soon as he appeared he showed an overwhelming performance against the elite of the Hive Guild.
Since he has the visuals to slap a celebrity’s cheek he is bound to attract attention.

It’s the same with what I showed you last time during Monster Wave and it’s the same with what Luna showed you this time.
In terms of topicality we are superior to Baekmyeonggyo. No it is no exaggeration to say that we are overwhelming.
“It is true that the name of the Limen Church has been firmly imprinted on the public.”
“We just need to turn that interest into an influx of new players.”
“I think so too but attracting new players may not be possible with just awareness.”
“Oh don’t worry about that.”
Benefits that even the Baekmyeonggyo guys couldn’t keep up with had already been prepared.
Due to a series of urgent matters that have come up recently we haven’t been able to properly promote it but when we brought Seungwoo in last time we secured the <Enlightenment> trait that increases the experience gained by new players by 30%.
In addition thanks to the new prophet Seungwoo joining the sect experience points will be increased by 90% or nearly double for one month.
For players who need to grow by accumulating experience points there is no better benefit.
As I experienced in Eden the extra experience in the early stages will make a huge difference.
That’s why we just have to promote its benefits as beautifully as possible.
And then a good idea occurred to me.
“Let’s do a live broadcast tomorrow using the Limen Church account. We’ll introduce Leo and Luna to the public properly and also bring in new players.”
The rule is that you have to row when the water comes in.
After that we easily made plans for the live broadcast and decided to do it tomorrow at 3 PM.
It was good up to that point.
Just up to there.
4.
The build-up was perfect. The live broadcast was announced through Minsu’s YouTube channel and our church’s official channel and attention was focused as if they had been waiting for it.
It can be said that the effect was certain as not only reporters requested coverage but even public broadcasting stations expressed their intention to broadcast it.
The day dawned like that and it was 3 o’clock in the afternoon the next day.
The second building of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development located in Yongsan-gu Seoul.
Clear skies without a single cloud.
Our plan was to start by measuring Luna’s combat power in cooperation with the Ability Management Department.
Kwaaaaaaaang-!
It was catastrophically oxidized along with a huge pillar of fire that rose high into the sky.
Blue flames were rising from the building of the Ability Management Department.
“It’s magic. Maybe I was attacked?”
I nodded and answered Luna’s calm voice.
“There’s no way a campfire would be that intense.”
“I told you if you just follow His Majesty around you won’t be bored. I told you you’re just a bunch of troublemakers.”
“I feel so wronged.”
Anyone could see that it was an act of terrorism.
The flames that burst out from the middle floors of a very tall building quickly began to consume the upper floors.
As Luna said it was a flame born from magical power not spontaneous combustion.
Not only is the magical power that explosively sweeps the surroundings so blue it is impossible to create such a thing without magic.
And that wasn’t the only problem.
-???
-I just turned on the live broadcast and came in what is this? Is it a production?
-?????????
-Isn’t that the Yongsan Ability Management Office Building 2?
-I live in Yongsan-gu and I just got a text message;; We are under attack by an unidentified terrorist group so citizens in the surrounding area should follow the instructions and evacuate to a shelter…
-Is it real?
-Wow;;; Is this true? Guys turn on the news. The public broadcasters are reporting it as breaking news.
This happened just 5 minutes after the live broadcast started.
The plan was to turn on the broadcast in advance and then do the opening once people gathered.
“The opening is bullshit.”
The store burned down before business could even begin.
Suddenly our church’s live broadcast turned into a ‘live broadcast of terrorism.’
And this sudden situation seemed to have brought a great shock to our experienced YouTuber Minsu.
“Your Holiness. Live broadcasting like this is….”
“It must be hard. I know.”
Let’s say for the record that a mysterious group of villains could attack the Department of Abilities building in the middle of Seoul.
But why did this happen when we decided to do a live broadcast?
It might have been easier to accept if we had left a clue that we would be broadcasting from here.
But we clearly didn’t leave even a single clue.
In short it means that it is the result of a series of coincidences.
Could this also be some kind of fucking causality trick?
“Has the building of the Department of Abilities Management ever been attacked?”
Just in case I asked Minsu.
Raids may be a relatively frequent occurrence.
But Minsu shook his head firmly.
“Never not even once.”
“…I asked just in case.”
Yeah that can’t be true.
Tiring ringing …
I got a phone call while I was absent-minded and I answered it right away.
Naturally it was Team Leader Kim of the Ability Management Department.
-Siwoo! Building 2 is currently under attack by unidentified villains! It seems like it will be difficult to cooperate with the filming you requested.
“Team Leader Kim.”
-Many high-ranking magic players have taken part in the terror attack. Can you help evacuate the civilians?
“Where is Team Leader Kim?”
-You don’t have to worry about me I’m fine.
-What? Are you calling your wife to say hello before you die? Are you a romantic? That’s not good.
Ring ring.
The call ended with an unknown female voice.
I frowned and looked at the burning building of the Department of Abilities Management.
It seems like Team Leader Kim is isolated in there.
“…The villain who uses this level of blue flame is Lee Se-hee of Cheonghwa. She is a monster who was judged as S-class three years ago. I heard that she escaped overseas but it seems that wasn’t the case.”
Minsu muttered clenching his fists.
“A villain who has not been found since she single-handedly massacred a mid-sized guild at a gate site in Gangwon-do six months ago. Her other evil deeds are….”
“You don’t have to explain it any further. In short she’s one hell of a bitch right? Your Majesty. Are you just going to watch?”
Luna who had summoned her armor before I knew it was gritting her teeth and Leo was also looking at me with a stern face next to her.
“No way.”
“I knew it. Then before we go in let me ask you one thing.”
Luna looked at me and asked quietly.
“Can I kill you?”
“If you rebel.”
“Hmm that’s ambiguous. So you mean we should just smash their heads together first and think about it? Okay. Leo shouldn’t we open the way first?”
“Very well Lord Reventon. I will take the lead.”
“Now that I think about it it’s been a long time since I’ve been in the vanguard with my younger brother. It was a good thing I came to Earth.”
The two exchanged a brief conversation and then ran straight towards the building.
Minsu who had been blankly watching their backs frowned and said.
“Of all days a terrorist attack happened on the day of a live broadcast… I can’t believe I’m so unlucky….”
To that I shrugged my shoulders and replied.
“Are we unlucky or are those terrorists unlucky?”
“yes?”
“I’ll finish it up soon and come back. I’ll finish the live broadcast when I get back.”
Our Pope please stop this
