Somebody Stop the Pope – 48
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 48
3.
It must have been three years since I arrived in Eden.
There was a time when I was completely twisted exhausted from the endless battles and longing to see my family.
I once asked a rather profane question to Limen who always felt sorry for me.
Can beings called gods also die?
It was a time when I was completely consumed by evil and it was also a time when I resented Limen for making me like that.
It was a question that could have been ignored but Limen answered it very kindly.
“Divinity arises from faith and fades away through forgetting.”
-What happens if I forget?
“It’s finally complete. Someday Siwoo will understand what it means.”
Even now seven years later I still don’t understand what ‘completion’ means.
But I was certain that the terrible things unfolding before my eyes were not ‘complete’.
“There’s no way something like that can be completed.”
I frowned as I looked at the twisted monsters blocking our way.
“Your Majesty I swear to Limen that I have never seen such monsters not even in Eden. They are worse than the demons. Even the Mimic babies must be more flesh-like than that.”
“I admit that.”
Luna soon found herself covered in pure white plate armor.
And he said as if he was annoyed while placing the handle of the hammer on his right shoulder.
“Doesn’t it make you mad that something so hideous could possess divine powers?”
“It’s a bad habit to judge someone by their appearance alone.”
“What do you know? Even Limen would shake his head if he saw those kids.”
“That’s not it.”
“sure?”
“Remendo would be angry but he would be angry for a slightly different reason than you.”
As I spoke I looked at those monsters who were shamelessly showing their hostility towards us.

As Luna said they are extremely ugly.
It is definitely a terrifying visual that is so scary that it makes you think you might see it in your dreams.
Because the limbs were hanging in strange places and there were dozens of heads all twisted in various ways.
But Limen won’t be upset by their ugly appearance.
Rather you will feel pity and compassion for them.
because.
“You can revive the dead with divine powers. How are you any different from those necromancers?”
“Yes that’s right.”
Because all of these phenomena occurred because of the divine power that ruled this place.
In my eyes I could see a thin line connecting those monsters.
A thin line connecting the barren land imbued with divine power to the umbilical cord.
The line was forcibly holding the dead who should have been laid to rest long ago here.
It looked more like a curse than a holy miracle.
Perhaps those monsters were held here for a very long time until the great temple eroded into ruins.
And the reason for this was not too difficult to infer.
“Is this how you wanted to continue on as a god?”
He rejected his own fate which should have been forgotten and destroyed by forcibly keeping his followers alive.
I don’t know how this world was destroyed.
But one thing is certain.
“What a disgusting guy.”
The will contained in this land could no longer be called sacred.
Is it right to continue calling the divine power here divine power?
“You’re just a fucking asshole.”
Luna nodded in agreement with what I said and I answered with a small sigh.
“Sometimes I think you forget that you are a saint.”
“I call a chew to be a chew but what’s the problem?”
That’s true so I can’t really refute it.
I shrugged took a pair of leather gloves out of my pocket and put them on my hands.
And then he spoke to Luna in a low voice.
“The center of the holy land is inside. President Choi is probably there too. Let’s stop playing and get to work Luna.”
He is a man who tried to maintain his divinity even by turning his followers into monsters.
It’s obvious what a guy like that would do if he came to Earth.
They will do whatever it takes to increase their number of followers.
So the guy has to be buried along with this twisted world.
Luna yawned at my words.
“I don’t think I can purify those monsters with divine power but can I purify them in my own way?”
“Wasn’t that your intention from the beginning?”

“Oh my it’s a little embarrassing when you look into my mind like that.”
Luna looked at me winked her right eye then slowly moved forward while swinging her hammer lightly.
Sihyeon from the Goblin Guild who had been quietly listening to our conversation next to me asked cautiously.
“How can we assist you in battle?”
I nodded my head in response to his words.
“Just stay still.”
“yes?”
“Luna really hates it when someone interferes when she’s fighting.”
“But the number of enemies is too many…”
It was before Sihyeon had even finished speaking.
Kwaaaaaaaang-!
The moment Luna’s hammer struck the ground a loud noise like an explosive went off swept through the surroundings.
And I smiled gently at the dazed Si-Hyeon and said
“Shall we leave this to our knight and go find CEO Choi?”
“Okay I understand.”
If my guess is correct CEO Choi is probably in a pretty dangerous situation right now.
Let’s move quickly.
4.
The Goblin Guild’s exploration capabilities were beyond my expectations.
We were able to find traces of CEO Choi about an hour after we started our full-scale search.
A huge crater that clearly appears to have been created by a collision between powerful forces.
“From here on out the sign is cut off. I can definitely feel the representative’s magic in the crater but….”
“It suddenly got disconnected.”
“you’re right.”
This place was really unnatural.
To begin with this dungeon itself was extremely unnatural but the scene I was seeing right now was particularly unnatural.
A fierce battle must have taken place for a crater this large to have been created but apart from this crater no traces remain.
“It seems like all traces except the crater were completely erased. One question is if they were trying to erase the traces why didn’t they erase this crater….”
“It’s not that I didn’t erase it it’s that I couldn’t erase it. I guess President Choi’s magic was a bit too much.”
“Do you have any guesses?”
I nodded at those words and slowly stretched out my arm while drawing on my divine power.
Okay then.
Pah-ji-ji-jik-!
A powerful repulsive force was transmitted as pure white sparks began to burst out of the empty air.
[Divine Barrier is nullified by the passive skill <Divine Protection Lv. Max>.]
As expected it was a sacred boundary.
I said with a sly smile at the rather heavy resistance.
“I would have been disappointed if our CEO Choi hadn’t called me. Si-hyeon please take the others and leave for a while.”
“We will help you.”
“You are helping me by giving me a break.”
Players of the Goblin Guild are definitely useful allies.
Starting with exploration if you look at the amount of magic power each individual possesses there will probably be no shortage no matter where you put it.
But no matter how skilled veterans they are they won’t be of much help in what’s happening beyond this barrier.
I would rather have it be an obstacle.
“But Your Holiness we must have you as our representative…”
“Don’t worry.”
Phage phage phage!
“I’ll solve it quickly and come out.”
I wrapped my entire body in divine power and quietly concluded my speech as I entered the barrier.
[You have entered the sacred boundary.]
[Your divine power resists distortion!]
I just took one step inside the barrier.
But with just that one step everything changed.
What had been a desolate ruin just moments ago had now transformed into a fierce battlefield.
And at the center of the battlefield stood CEO Choi Seo-jin his upper body covered in numerous scars.
He was surrounded.
“Tsk.”
And that too to his subordinates whom he cherished so much.
Most people tend to despair when faced with this situation but CEO Choi Seo-jin’s expression was different at all.
He was clearly smiling.
And with a very bright expression.
He soon discovered me breaking through the barrier and shouted in a voice so loud that it shook the surroundings.
“You’re a little late! I was worried because I thought you weren’t coming! Hahaha!”
Didn’t they say that those who smile when times are tough are first-class?
In that sense CEO Choi is truly first-class.
I chuckled at his humor. Then I immediately jumped up onto the ground broke through the barrier and landed lightly next to him.
Then CEO Choi raised his thumb and said
“Superhero landing! As expected our Pope Kim knows romance! As expected he is a man I recognize.”
“That looks absolutely ridiculous.”
“Kuhaha. It seems like my kids have always been dissatisfied. They were just desperate to poke holes in my body. If Pope Kim doesn’t want to get stabbed like me then you should be nice to him in general.”
As he spoke he spat blood-stained saliva on the floor.
When I saw CEO Choi’s physical condition up close it was obvious that it was the worst.
The amount of bleeding was so great that blood pooled on the floor where he was standing and it was difficult to find a healthy part rather than an unhealthy part.
To be honest it was an injury that wouldn’t have been strange even if he fainted right away.
However even in this situation CEO Choi Seo-jin was suppressing his subordinates through his vast magical power.
“If I had been even a little bit late you would have really died.”
“Now that you’re here it’s okay. I can’t leave my subordinates behind right?”
“Don’t you know what strategic retreat means?”
“Those idiots are my strategy. Hehe. And what do you mean by retreat? I’m so ignorant because my bag straps are short.”
Perhaps with CEO Choi’s skills it wouldn’t have been too difficult for him to get out of here on his own.
And yet the reason he held on like this was.
“Whether I like it or not these are kids I raised with my own hands. I can’t stand seeing them become fanatics of some fucking asshole whose name I don’t even know even though I raised them like that.”
It must have been because his subordinates were obsessed with something.
President Choi seemed to have a rough idea of why this happened.
He continued speaking without taking his eyes off them.
“I heard a voice. Accept serve obey. It was a fucking voice. I ignored it because it was so fucking annoying but I guess it wasn’t my kids. At first I thought they were holding out for a while. Use it.”
If we have to be specific the mental strength of CEO Choi who resists the power of the divine in the holy land is monstrous.
It was obvious that the god himself had brainwashed the hunters of the Goblin Guild but CEO Choi Seo-jin resisted the brainwashing with only willpower.
“So you called me here so we could listen to that fucking voice together?”
“I figured out the power that rules this place was divine power as soon as I entered the dungeon. Since the problem was caused by divine power wouldn’t it be natural to seek advice from an expert in the field?”
“This case is simply something that happened when the Goblin Guild tried to monopolize the dungeon by itself. The consultation fee will be quite expensive.”
Despite the irritating words CEO Choi nodded without hesitation.
“I will give the rest of my life to you Pope. If you need a hunting dog I can be your hunting dog.”
“He is the Pope but isn’t it a bit strange for him to be a hunting dog?”
“What about pet dogs then?”
“Why do you keep calling me a dog?”
“If you don’t like dogs how about cats?”
A cat with scars all over its body that can cause heart attacks by using its killing intent….
This is the worst.
Just thinking about it makes my heart stop.
I said in a calm voice after cursing my own imagination.
“I will pay the consulting fee on a post-consultation basis.”
There is an order to everything.
“Let’s resolve this first.”
Booooooooooooooo-!
As I grabbed the air with my gloved hands an eerie groaning sound soon rang out.
【Kkaaa …
A being that was hiding behind a shield from the distortion of space.
A monster that has lost even its true name as a god and has accepted ugliness instead of holiness.
[The boss monster <???> of the Abyss Dungeon is forcibly summoned by your power!]
Only then did the master of this twisted holy place reveal himself.
Our Pope please stop this
