    Episode 30

    10. Black Corporate Limen

    1.

Is it because we were able to solve urgent problems right away?

    I slept very well.

Since I accumulated divine power in my body I didn’t feel much physical fatigue unless it was a big battle but mental fatigue was a separate issue.

Anyway it means that it was a very satisfying sleep.

After sleeping soundly like that I went out to the living room and for some reason Inwook was watching something on TV.

I sat on the sofa and picked up a sandwich that Inwook had placed in front of me.

    “Why news in the morning?”

“These days the news is more interesting than some MeTube shows. That’s why gag shows are failing.”

    The news was on TV.

At first I just watched it indifferently but as I listened quietly stories I had heard somewhere started to flow out.

    – The National Awakening Coalition has officially requested that a joint public-private investigation team be formed to verify Ground Zero. The Ability Management Department has strongly opposed this saying that it is a request that is not worth discussing.

    – Meanwhile while the world’s attention is focused on the Limen sect led by the awakened Kim Si-woo who purified Ground Zero Pastor Jeon Gwang-hu of the Jusarang First Church claims that Satan who leads the devils has finally arrived on Earth….

“Why on earth do they do that?”

Inwook who had been watching very interesting news since morning asked me a question in a casual manner.

And I took a bite of my sandwich and said “Okay then” as if it were a given.

“One is a thief who is squeezing his own feet and the other is just putting in a spoonful because he feels the time is right. What other reason could there be? Anyway that pastor really lives a long life. He’s old but he’s still full of energy.”

In response to my answer Inwook put down the sandwich he was eating and asked with wide eyes.

“Brother what happened with Jeon Gak-ryeon?”

“Nothing much. Just the hitmen they sent to Ground Zero and quietly collected them?”

“…Don’t you usually look at that and say ‘what a big deal’?”

“It’s nothing special to me so let’s just say it’s nothing.”

It was a logic that was virtually impossible to refute.

Inwook who was overwhelmed by my perfect logic let out a deep sigh and continued talking while finishing his sandwich.

“I’m going to make my YouTube channel public with my first video at 6 PM today. You know that right? But is it okay if I keep the name of my YouTube channel the same?”

Minsu received several suggestions for channel names through his YouTube email but the final name he decided on was pretty safe.

    Official remen.

A channel name that can be said to be ordinary if not completely unremarkable without any sense of religious affiliation.

I received countless ideas like ‘Limen is Watching’ ‘Limen and the Holy Children’ etc. but in the end the channel name I chose was ‘Official Limen’.

The reason I chose that colorless and odorless name over countless other channel names was very simple.

“But since it’s the official YouTube channel of the religious sect it should have some substance to it.”

“Still I still feel like something is missing.”

“In a situation where the inflow is guaranteed anyway is there a need to go overboard?”

As you can see the situation is like this.

Even on TV channels including terrestrial broadcasting my story continued to be broadcast and the Internet was practically occupied with bait about me and the Limen sect.

The number of subscribers for Minsu who had been fluctuating has been increasing miraculously since yesterday’s broadcast.

In such a situation the official actions of our church are bound to attract attention.

Besides since you already declared MeTube as your main communication channel in your interview with Minsu yesterday you can put aside your worries about the influx.

Inwook tilted his head slightly at my fluent explanation and then asked in a suspicious voice.

“Brother is that your idea? You seem like such a veteran.”

I answered that question as if it were a given.

“Of course it’s Brother Minsu’s work.”

“…Why don’t you just swallow Minsu hyung’s MeTube?”

“If someone saw me they would think I’m a punk?”

    “Wasn’t it?”

There’s nothing I can’t say to my brother.

Is this why I can’t live in peace with my younger brother?

    anyway.

So I chatted with Inwook and had a quick breakfast of sandwiches. After Inwook cleaned up the dishes he spoke to me carefully.

“That’s right hyung. I have something serious to ask you.”

    “say.”

“If we have to cover our living expenses and run a church don’t we need some money? I know that YouTube can be a source of income but….”

“You’re not going to make money through YouTube?”

“Oh then like other religions it operates through donations….”

“I don’t even plan on accepting donations in the beginning. It’s already been discussed.”

Inwook remained silent for a while at my firm answer and then looked at me with a bewildered expression.

    Then he sighed and said

“You’re not trying to say something nonsensical like ‘I can solve everything with faith’ are you? Do you know how much Siyeon’s academy fees are?”

“Hmm. I originally wasn’t going to tell you but since it’s you I’ll tell you.”

    “What is it?”

I soon told Inwook about my future plans.

“…Is that okay? No really is that okay?”

Inwook opened his eyes wide and asked back.

And I nodded with a sly smile at Inwook’s question.

“Of course there is no problem. Even though it looks like this my brother is the Pope. And I have already talked to Limen.”

    “That’s not missionary work brother. He’s just a businessman…”

“Oh you’re blaspheming? If you do that Leo will fold you in half. Be careful.”

    2.

The late commute to work was very pleasant.

There’s no other word to describe the road to Ground Zero’s shrine other than “commute.”

“Your Holiness I think it would be best if you came down.”

    “Thank you Brother Minsu.”

“I am always honored. Oh and the representative of the Meister Guild has already arrived at the temple.”

“There are 30 minutes left until the appointment and already?”

“They are honest people to begin with.”

    Since I didn’t have a driver’s license I had to get a ride in Minsu’s car.

Since Minsu also said that he was planning to continue content at Ground Zero for the time being he was able to get a piece of the action.

Where we arrived was not the main entrance to Ground Zero.

The main gate is currently virtually blocked by citizens who want to see Ground Zero and reporters who have come to cover the event.

Originally it was a situation where entry was only possible through that side.

“I never would have guessed that there would be an entrance like this at Ground Zero. Is this an entrance built by the government?”

“No way. Isn’t this the kind of thing that people with dirty minds would make? This is a brand new entrance that was discovered not long ago. They were originally going to close it down immediately but they told us to use it for the time being.”

“There must have been something at Ground Zero.”

“I’m planning on showing it to Brother Minsu today anyway. I also have some advice to ask for.”

I ended up using the secret entrance that the Jeon Gak-ryeon guys had made.

This is the passageway that the criminals I handed over to the Ability Management Department yesterday used and of course it is the entrance that was discovered during the Ability Management Department’s investigation.

There are probably a few more places besides this one.

However we are using this entrance because it is close to our temple.

I asked Minsu a question as I walked down the dimly lit hallway.

“Minsu have you ever sold anything like goods?”

“Rather than selling goods we often sell equipment for new players. We work with master guilds that have good skills but low reputations to sell equipment at low prices or buy useful consumables together.”

    “It’s better.”

If you have experience it will be more convenient in many ways.

It may be possible to cooperate with the Ability Management Department but it is likely to be controversial as it is related to the church’s budget.

There is no need to scratch it and make a mess.

Maybe it took about 3 more minutes?

Before I knew it the passage had ended and as I opened the door and went out the beautiful scenery of the sanctuary began to come into view.

The flowers blooming among the ruins and the sunlight streaming into the scenery were truly beautiful.

It was a beautiful sight just like yesterday but there were some things that were clearly different from yesterday.

“I think it’s only now that I feel like this place has truly been purified.”

I said with a faint smile at Minsu’s words.

    “Is that so?”

Unlike yesterday when only players were active today ordinary people were wandering around the sanctuary.

They were all people who had been granted entry by the Department of Abilities Management.

I heard from Team Leader Kim that for the time being they plan to limit the number of people entering and exiting to a maximum of 1000 per day.

This is because not all of Ground Zero has been cleaned up and there are still hazardous elements remaining in various places.

Once we’ve cleaned up this entire area and completed the reconstruction work we plan to tear down the wall and open it up completely.

They say that at one point the website for the Department of Abilities Management was paralyzed by the influx of applications but I also spoke to the Department of Abilities in advance about the people I wanted to prioritize in applying for.

I heard that from the day the first disaster struck this area until the gate was subdued a total of nearly 140000 people were sacrificed here.

“I hope they can find some comfort.”

I looked at the bereaved families each honoring the victims in their own way and spoke quietly.

Some people throw alcohol on the floor while others put their hands together and pray.

Some cried out loud while others sobbed quietly to comfort them.

This place was like that from the beginning.

A land where dreams rest for a moment as Limen wrote on his tombstone.

And I just wanted to give priority to the families of the victims according to the will of the God I serve.

“I am sure they are also sincerely grateful to the Pope and Limen.”

I nodded quietly to Minsu’s words and quietly walked past the bereaved family members and headed toward the shrine.

Because the secret entrance was so close to the temple it didn’t take too long to get there.

    “Welcome Your Holiness.”

As soon as I arrived in front of the temple Leo came out from inside as if he had been waiting.

Although Leo had a characteristically blunt expression the corners of his mouth were slightly raised indicating that he was in a good mood.

    “Did something good happen?”

Leo bowed his head politely in response to my words.

“Many people have come to the temple since morning to pray to Limen. I am just happy that I have brothers on Earth.”

“You didn’t receive any donations like I said did you?”

“As Your Majesty had expected many people came to offer gifts to Limen but we were barely able to coax them back.”

    “good job.”

“But refusing the offerings of believers may be an act of ignoring their sincerity.”

Leo spoke to me with a slightly regretful tone.

    I answered Leo softly.

“It’s not that I won’t accept the believers’ offerings until the end. There is an order. Leo you know that right?”

“…Lord Limen is someone who always wants us to stand on our own two feet.”

    “That’s it.”

The Limen sect in Eden was also a sect with quite unusual doctrines.

This was because there was a doctrine limiting the total amount of donations one person could give in a year.

It also symbolized the fact that in front of Limen everyone rich or poor was treated equally.

At first glance it seemed like the church’s finances would be very tight but instead Limen granted us many things.

A sanctuary where you can make and sell holy relics is also one of the things she has granted you.

Leo nodded silently as if he understood what I meant.

“The guest is waiting in the reception room.”

“Let’s go in quickly. It’s rude to leave the guests alone.”

“I left the sacred stone that His Holiness spoke of behind so he is probably observing it by now.”

    “Really? Good job.”

I hurried to the reception room located on the right side of the temple entrance.

No to be exact I was ‘trying to’.

Until three men walked out from behind us and blocked our path.

“Nice to meet you Mr. Kim Si-woo. My name is Kang Byeong-su the executive director of the National Awakening Association. It is an honor to meet you.”

Hair slicked back and a black suit.

There was even a squint in the eye behind the glasses positioned at the peak of the dragon’s peak.

Honestly I’m a bit impressed. I wonder how someone can look like such a villain.

I smiled bitterly as I stopped Leo from using his strength right away.

And then I said to a guy named Kang Byeong-su who was acting relaxed in front of me.

“Be thankful brother that this is before the sacred temple.”

“After the story is over I too will go to the shrine and pray to someone named Limen.”

“What an interesting brother you are.”

I thought we’d be in touch sometime soon but I didn’t know it would be today?

    “Leo.”

    “Yes Your Majesty.”

“I’ll go into the reception room with Brother Minsu. Tell the guest that I’ll be a little late.”

    “…All right.”

Leo went inside with Minsu without saying a word and eventually only me and the Jeon Gak-ryeon guys were left in front of the temple.

Kang Byeong-su said while looking at Leo’s back as he entered the meeting room.

“Is that the person who folded paper into a human form?”

“Our archbishop is a very talented man.”

“I would like to try it out sometime if I get the chance.”

“If it’s not too much trouble I can show you instead. What do you think brother?”

“Haha! I’ll pass on that. I don’t have a hobby that involves paper.”

Maybe it’s because he’s the executive director of Jeon Gak-ryeon but he definitely doesn’t lose his temper easily.

I think I know roughly why you came.

It looks like he came to negotiate after the war or something but I really hate seeing him acting so daunting.

I looked at Kang Byeong-su’s squinted eyes cracked them open and then whispered quietly in his ear.

“That’s right. Did you run the mine?”

    Our Pope please stop this
