Episode 288
94. Chicken Run
1.
The reorganization of the Limen Church was completed in a friendly atmosphere.
The troops that could not return to battle were sent straight to the Seoul Temple and repair work was carried out using various ores stored in the sect’s vault.
The person… no the animal who felt the most fatigued from the last battle was Snow White.
“I need to take a break.”
As soon as Baekseol returned to the Seoul temple he declared a strike.
It couldn’t be helped as his divine power was completely depleted from maintaining such a formidable battle steed.
There was no need to mention the condition of Snow White whose trademark was her shiny fur.
If Limen hadn’t come and given me some divine power I might have been struggling for a month.
“Limen is too weak-hearted. His physical strength normally grows stronger when he is pushed to the limit.”
“But isn’t that too much for a baby that’s only about a year old?”
“It’s my cat.”
“Is that my cat too?”
“It’s divine.”
“You said Siwoo was a cat so it must be a cat. Isn’t that right Siyeon?”
“What Limen said is completely right. But Snow White is my cat! Siyeon feeds her plays with her and pets her every day!”
It was an hour later that Limen realized that Siyeon had figured out his identity.
It was really cute to see her face turn red with embarrassment.
…Oh what am I talking about?
Anyway Siyeon said this while hugging Baekseol tightly and Limen and I smiled and nodded.
“Then Siyeon is a cat.”
“Yes I agree.”
“Why doesn’t anyone check my doctor?”
I decided to just ignore Snow White’s grumbling.

After a while like that.
『It’s been a while since I played tag with Siyeon- huuuuuuu!』
“Snow White!”
The breathtaking chase between Chuksang and Siyeon begins.
I smiled happily as I watched Snow White running away in shock and Siyeon catching up with her at incredible speed.
Siyeon’s physical abilities have grown beyond recognition.
Now I really feel like I won’t be hacked no matter where I go.
It’s just solid.
“It seems like the kids grow up differently every day.”
Limen followed me and smiled beautifully while looking at the demonstration.
“Limen.”
“huh?”
“I heard a little about what was happening in Beijing from Terra. She didn’t tell me the details. Limen do you know anything?”
In response to my question Limen nodded with a forced smile.
“A little bit.”
“Tell me.”
“It’s just a guess. It’s just a guess… But do you still want to hear it?”
The ‘causal limitations’ that stood between her and me have almost faded away.
Some words are still muted but it’s enough now to get me the information I need.
I looked at Limen slowly.
Limen who understood the meaning of my gaze slowly continued his story.
“The ancient gods are currently gathering a lot of souls. The soul may be a very ambiguous concept from a human perspective… but the soul actually exists.”
“What do you think of me? I’ve been to another world so how can you not believe in spirits? You can tell just by looking at the Demon King’s case so it’s okay.”
I understood the soul early on.
Didn’t the demon lords who had completely destroyed their bodies come back to life on Earth in tiny pieces?
“The soul is that kind of power. It is the purest form that can easily overcome the balance between dimensions.”
“…The ancient gods are gathering such power?”
“It’s a tremendous power. In a world where war has lasted a long time it’s easy for beings with great power to be born. Shi-woo has already experienced it once right?”
I could immediately tell who the ‘being’ she was talking about was.
Limen.
A deity who became the main god of Eden after the war ended.
She was the proof.
As my thoughts reached that point I was able to come up with a hypothesis.
“The guys have a new god…”
“They will try to usurp Terra’s seat. They will need the throne to establish the new order they desire.”
“Is that possible? I don’t think Terra would give it up that easily.”
Terra was the sole deity of Earth for a very long time.

Is it possible for someone like her to be kicked out overnight?
But I couldn’t help but be silent when Limen explained what followed.
“It’s possible. If the ancient gods who have returned from other dimensions and gathered many souls through war join forces… it’s definitely possible.”
“Joining forces means…”
“Becoming one. The meeting will probably be a place to discuss who to unite around. If we take over the status of the other gods we will be able to sufficiently threaten the Lord of the Lords.”
I thought of Pluto whom I had encountered last time.
If those guys that I couldn’t handle alone were to come together…
Can I really stop them?
“Siu.”
I think my expression darkened without me realizing it.
Limen said gently taking my hand.
“I told you. I will take full responsibility. So Siwoo just keep doing what you are doing now.”
Limen doesn’t just spit out empty words to me.
I don’t know what deal she made with Terra but it’s clear that all those decisions were for my benefit.
Limen has never made a wrong decision.
And it will be the same this time too.
But why is that?
This time I thought maybe she was wrong.
But I shook my head and decided to shake off that feeling of unease.
2.
After my conversation with Limen I had a brief greeting with my family and then returned to Shenyang.
While the Limen Church was reorganizing the main force of the Republic of Korea was quickly making its way to Beijing.
Raphael and Aiden’s performance stood out.
It is said that he led a small force of men and destroyed two gates that were supplying troops to the Yellow River defense line.
The area behind the defensive line was not much different from the Liaodong region we occupied.
There is no need for further explanation as most residents welcomed the arrival of the Republic of Korea Army.
“According to incoming information local people are also unable to contact their families in Beijing.”
“How long has it been since you started not being able to contact me?”
“About two weeks. There are also stories of those who went to find their families not returning.”
There was no doubt that something very ominous was happening in Beijing.
I sat in the temporary headquarters set up in Shenyang and stared at the map.
The occupation of the Republic of Korea main force was progressing at a rapid pace.
One thing that worries me is the ancient gods’ forces penetrating the Mongolian side.
Their destination seems to be more or less decided.
“Looking at how quickly they’re moving south it looks like they’re going to attack the Purifier from behind.”
“We are also analyzing it. But we have some strange intelligence.”
Ms. Kang Chae-ah sighed and continued speaking.
“There is news that the Purifier is refraining from massacring civilians.”
The Purifiers are the ones who have maintained the concept of Baekjeong up until now.
In the place where the guys swept through only death remained.
Are you saying that those yaksha-like guys aren’t committing massacres?
Perhaps he is guessing what the purpose of the ancient gods is.
According to Terra it wasn’t surprising that he knew that he was likely a regressor.
“I guess they have their own thoughts too.”
“If we calculate the variables it seems that we can reach Beijing within three days at the earliest. Thanks to the military airports captured we have also been able to breathe easier for supplies.”
Securing the right to provide is this important.
Since supply by air was possible there was no need to worry about supply anymore.
In addition supplies needed for war and relief are also coming from the United States.
There were no more obstacles to the final destination.
“…It feels as if they are inviting us to Beijing.”
“It’s roughly similar.”
As expected he is a person with good intuition.
It seems as if Baekmyeonggyo has deliberately left the path empty for us.
The final battle will be held in Beijing.
The current situation in Beijing is completely unknown. Eventually we will have to get there to find out the truth of the situation.
I sighed deeply.
“Please tell them that even in situations where there is virtually no resistance we must not let our guard down.”
“All right.”
“Beijing is the key. The less troop losses we can make until then the better.”
The key is to arrive with as little loss as possible.
I looked at the map again.
The destination Beijing was marked in red.
I don’t even know what will happen there. One thing is certain: we will face the worst threat we have ever faced.
I had to bring them good news as they were fighting against the Old Gods all over the world.
“Let’s increase our marching speed a little.”
Kang Chae-ah nodded obediently to my words.
“Yes I understand.”
“Don’t be stingy with the Irregulars and throw them in. It’s best if they hit you with their body.”
“I will actively deploy irregulars. Thank you for your advice.”
Perhaps this war will be a good experience for Kang Chae-ah as well.
How many commanders can mobilize four Irregulars?
If you can shorten the time it’s right to use it generously.
It’s not like it wears out just because you use it.
Isn’t that right?
3.
Two days after that.
20km northeast of the Beijing border.
“I won’t fight with you again. At least let me rest!”
“We fought until the end just as you wished. What are you dissatisfied with?”
“There is a limit. Does it make sense to ask someone to fight while only sleeping for 6 hours over 2 days?”
“I thought it would be possible if he was the great chieftain who united the tribes.”
“This isn’t the Chieftain but even the Chieftain’s grandfather would have a hard time. I guarantee it.”
Aiden is complaining to me in a very angry voice.
The South Korean main force cleared the road at an absurd speed.
When I told her to use Irregular as much as she wanted Kang Chae-ah really did.
This is the result.
Even though Aiden was tired… I could solve that problem.
Swish.
The divine power that extended from my hand took hold in Aiden’s body.
Then Aiden’s face noticeably improved.
“Do you feel like the fatigue has been washed away?”
“I won’t help you next time even if you ask me. Just know that. At least give me some time to relax and have a drink right?”
“Oh that’s why? You should drink while fighting.”
“I already drank everything I brought. Next time if you want to use me make sure you have plenty of alcohol ready.”
It wasn’t because I was tired it was because I couldn’t drink much.
He’s such an alcoholic savage.
I threw him a bottle of soju that I had prepared in advance and Aiden snatched it away with a smile.
“I’ll let you off easy this time.”
“Still thanks to you and Raphael I’ve saved a lot of time. I’ll treat you when the war is over.”
“You’ll have to shoot big.”
Aiden drank the entire bottle of liquor. He wiped his mouth roughly and continued talking while looking up at the distant sky of Beijing.
“It looks like it’s going to be a fun battlefield. It’s better than I expected.”
“A fun battlefield?”
“It means a place where you might die fighting. What could be more fun?”
This guy is also addicted to thrills.
Kuuuung.
At that moment Raphael who had been scouting the area landed lightly next to me.
He said as he removed the suit’s helmet.
“Strong dimensional response. All detectors are blown.”
“It exploded?”
“Yes. It means a dimensional reaction that far surpasses endurance. I don’t know what it is but it’s said that something dimensional is happening in Beijing. This is really exciting. If I do it right I might be able to find a way for me to return.”
I slowly looked toward Beijing while listening to their story.
The sky was torn into dozens of pieces.
I thought it was the perfect place to put an end to it.
I felt a faint sense of anxiety seeping into my heart but I tried hard to ignore it.
There was no need to be anxious.
All I have to do is trust in Limen and my people and move forward.
Let’s focus on what we see.
I let out a big sigh again.
The most important moment in Eden and in life on Earth was just around the corner.
