Somebody Stop the Pope – 278

Episode 278
5.
Ryu Jin-young was unable to continue speaking after seeing the scene unfolding before his eyes.
‘I knew it all along… The Limen Sect is full of lunatics. It’s really fortunate that they aren’t our enemies…’
When the activities of Baekmyeonggyo including the gate were reported here Ryu Jin-young felt vague fear for the first time in his life as an Awakened Person.
Because this was the beginning of a war.
Japan was the country that was least affected by the war during that time.
It did not directly send troops to the Chinese Civil War but simply served as a supply base for the allied forces behind the scenes.
Japan which had been like that is now being sucked into the whirlpool of war.
It was a well-known fact that this punitive expedition was the starting point of Japan’s participation in the war.
So I came here with a really big determination.
Because winning the first battle was very important for the future war.
That is why the Japanese government gave Ryu Jin-young the most elite Awakened soldiers it possessed.
It could be said that it was an obvious choice as only an overwhelming victory could reassure the people.
However the scenes unfolding before Ryu Jin-young and Japan’s elite Awakened players were completely different from what they had expected.
Kwajijijijik-.
Kieeeeeeeeeeeeek-.
Kwaaaaaaaaaaah!
The forces of the Limen Church unilaterally push back the enemies.
The divine punishment missiles that rose from the missile launchers installed in the Sendai Holy Ground were mercilessly bombing the monsters and white pillars of fire rose up without stopping.
“For Limen!”
“Purify the unbelievers! Drive out the wicked!”
The knights and priests of the Limen Order dive into the flames without any hesitation as if the white flames were not even hot.
Paladins slash their enemies with their hammers and swords while priests smash their heads with their fists.
‘…Did the Chinese Civil War make them grow like that?’
Ryu Jin-young thought he knew a lot about the fighters of the Limen Sect.

I was quite friendly with the Japanese people who were part of the second batch of trainees and I had often observed their fighting styles.
But what he was seeing now were veterans who had been through thick and thin.
Split-second judgment.
Even soft improvisation to respond to variables.
The organic organizational skills that seem to come from countless experiences are clearly a strength that only veterans can demonstrate.
‘I’ve never heard of such awakened beings.’
Their fighting prowess should have been noted long ago.
A powerful fighting force that seems to surpass that of each individual S-class Awakened.
Could it be that the Limen Sect has been hiding its forces all this time?
“They are the knights and priests who came from Eden. They are the great warriors who removed the darkness that had fallen over Eden.”
“Oh Archbishop Lapart.”
Ryu Jin-young bowed his head respectfully to Archbishop Laparte who was standing next to him.
A powerful figure in charge of the practical affairs of the Limen Church.
However Ryu Jin-young knew better than anyone that this old man was also a monster.
“Lord Limen sent them to save this land.”
“…Are you saying that they came from Eden?”
“Yes.”
“That’s amazing.”
It wasn’t an unbelievable story.
Because there were already otherworlders from Eden named Luna and Leo.
Ryu Jin-young knew that Limen was real. That’s why he thought that up until that point it was enough of a miracle that she had created.
But the strength they showed was truly amazing.
What kind of a place is this world called Eden that it is full of such monsters?
“This is a really strong army. I’ve never seen an army like this before. Do you have a secret?”
He let out a soft exclamation.
Then Archbishop Laparte answered with a bitter expression.
“Not everyone in Eden is as strong as they are. There is one reason why they are strong.”
“What is it?”
“Because they are survivors of the war.”
Ryu Jin-young recalled an old story that Kim Si-woo had once told her.
It’s a story about returning after saving a world on the verge of destruction.
“They did not survive because they were strong. They became strong because they survived. They fought while carrying the lives of their comrades who were willing to give up their lives for the right path.”
Beings who have been trained through the process of witnessing and overcoming countless deaths.
Archbishop Lapart continued speaking in a voice more powerful than ever.
“They are the living history that created the current Limen Church.”
The knights pierce the darkness with their light.
He punishes mercilessly the monsters that are strange and hideous.

Thousands of enemies rushing toward them are swept away without even being able to put up a fight.
“Everyone who lives and breathes in Eden owes a debt to one man. We willingly set foot on this world to repay that debt.”
Kwaaaaaaaang!
A giant spear of light pierces through the tsunami created by the monsters.
The window created a wide path.
And there was a man running forward along that road.
Following him other knights and priests also begin to charge simultaneously.
“The one whom we serve the Limen appointed as his apostle. The one who drove away the death that was rampant in Eden and made it possible for life to bloom again on the land.”
Archbishop Laparte slowly observed the battlefield.
And he nodded while looking at the one leading the troops at the forefront of the battlefield.
“He is our Holy Father. That is why we will always give our lives for him. It is a debt so great that it cannot be repaid even with our lives.”
The monsters are falling down.
All the monsters that jumped out of the gate ran away in fear.
Monsters that are pushed out of the gate.
A monster that wants to leave the battlefield.
A monster driven mad by fear.
The guys were all tangled up together and screaming.
“ah.”
Ryu Jin-young let out a small exclamation as he looked at Kim Si-woo who was slaughtering monsters at the very front.
I thought I knew why those belonging to the Limen sect would go through any trouble for Kim Si-woo.
Who was it that pulled him out of that pit where he was called a traitor to his nation?
That’s the guy.
The man readily extended his hand to the person whom everyone was pointing fingers at.
Thanks to him he regained both honor and love.
“Archbishop Laparte.”
He called Archbishop Laparte softly. Archbishop Laparte smiled and answered.
“Yes go ahead.”
“I owe that man too. So let’s fight together.”
Even if the other Japanese Awakened were to wait here he wanted to fight together with them.
I wanted to pay off this debt even if it was just a little bit.
Did you feel the sincerity in Ryu Jin-young’s words?
“I will take care of this place. Have a nice trip. I am sure His Majesty will be pleased.”
Archbishop Lapart nodded readily in response.
Ryu Jin-young bowed his head respectfully to Archbishop Lapart then immediately used teleportation and jumped into the battlefield.
Archbishop Laparte looked at the spot where he had disappeared and muttered with a pleased expression.
“Everyone pays it back little by little like that.”
The battle was already reaching its climax.
6.
The troops that came from Eden are clearly strong.
Even if you just look at it it’s at a level that would slap any awakened person on Earth.
In a way that’s natural.
How could those who live in hell every day be weak?
Anyway a ridiculous buff called <Holy War> was applied to such a strong force.
It’s like blowing up a single oil field in a blazing fire.
The effects are of course crazy.
“Push it!”
“Hey you little punks! Where are you putting your mind? Hey! Whose joke is war?”
“See you after the battle. These little shits have to start over from the beginning!”
Those who came from Eden constantly torment the Earth-born knights and priests.
It is never okay to let your guard down during battle.
That’s why it pushes you to the limit and keeps you moving nonstop.
The battle was a great opportunity to pass on real-world experience.
And that was something I asked them to do on purpose.
The more experience the better.
The more experience you have the higher your chances of survival on the battlefield.
Kwaaaaaaaang-.
I moved forward slicing off the entire head of a troll that tried to run away from me.
The victory is already ours.
The enemies were in retreat and trying to find a way to survive but there was no escape for them.
But there are just too many numbers.
No matter how many times you try to break through the gate there are always more people crawling out.
If we use the teleportation technique we copied from Pluto last time we can reach the core in one go but if we don’t want any monsters to escape we have to advance the main force right in front of the gate.
I think it might have been a little easier if I had some magical support.
If you freeze or stone the guys crawling out of the gate it seems like it might cause a bottleneck.
That was when.
Woohoo.
I sensed a magical force next to me for a moment and then a familiar man appeared.
“Siwoo.”
“Oh Jinyoung hyung.”
“I couldn’t just sit still. I handed over command to Archbishop Laparte.”
“I don’t think the Japanese Awakened people will follow along obediently.”
Jinyoung answered my words with a sly smile.
“If you don’t listen the Archbishop will beat you.”
“That’s true. Anyway welcome back. I was expecting support from the wizard anyway.”
I said pointing to the gate.
“I will go inside the gate myself destroy the core and then come out.”
“The core is inside?”
“Unfortunately that is true.”
There are also cases where the core is outside but in this case the quality is a bit poor.
If the core is inside the gate.
In other words you have to go in there and destroy it yourself.
It’s not too much of a stretch since I’ve experienced it a few times before but the problem is what’s waiting inside.
I said pointing to the gate with my finger.
“Brother please tie up the guys coming out of the gate.”
Jinyoung hyung is a disaster-level returnee.
A wizard who is either looking to reach the realm of a great wizard or may have already reached that realm.
It means that he is a magician who is much better than Seolhwa or Kang Chae-ah.
At my words Jinyoung nodded and raised his magic power.
“About half. I can block about half.”
“What time?”
“About 5 minutes?”
“Just give me that much. Just give me enough time for our main force to advance to the gate.”
Divine power is an energy that emits greater light when it is in the water.
If we can just get to the front of the gate we can easily block the gate with our troops.
The Baekmyeonggyo believers hiding all over the place will be a variable but we can now leave that to the Japanese awakened people.
“Let’s get started right away.”
“yes.”
Jinyoung recited a spell while releasing his magical power.
A spell that even I blessed with language cannot understand.
That means it’s a magical spell a starting word.
Did about 5 seconds pass like that?
Kkwudduk.
Giant roots began to grow from the ground and wrap around the gate.
“Come in.”
“Yes. Push to the front of Leo Luna Gate then form a defensive line!”
Leo and Luna who were dealing with monsters from afar at my command shouted at the same time.
“yes!”
good.
First off we’ll definitely take the initiative here and now it’s time to quickly get through the gate and finish off the core.
Woohoo.
I slowly raised my stance and dug into the gap in space in one breath.
It folds the space using the grid and then digs into the gap between the folds.
That’s the simple principle of space travel that I’ve learned.
In an instant it jumped over a distance of over 1km and dug straight into the gate.
Then the scenery inside the gate was immediately revealed.
The burning land.
And the ‘faceless ones’ who emit divine power on the land and drive monsters beyond the gate.
Kurururururung.
As the ground turns upside down giants the size of buildings begin to appear one after another.
I said smiling brightly at the guys.
“So you guys should try dying too?”
Hell has only just begun.
Our Pope please stop this
