Somebody Stop the Pope – 271
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 271
3.
During the Chinese Civil War the flow of the war was quite frustrating.
Citizens who do not cooperate.
There are even rebels there who cause trouble.
Memories of frequent clashes outside of combat were vivid.
So I thought this war would be the same.
but….
<Citizens of Dandong open their arms to welcome the Republic of Korea and the Limen Church!>
<Emergency deployment of stockpiles of Shinuiju supplies in the aftermath of the Dandong tragedy!>
<Lee Soon-ja (51) who lives in Dandong said “If the Limen Church had not come we would all have died of disease and starvation.”>
My stereotypes were turned upside down the moment I crossed the broken wall of Dandong.
A war like a sweet potato?
There was no such thing.
In the first place the most important thing in war is strategy.
Do you know what the best strategy is in that sense?
That’s just pushing with overwhelming force.
With such overwhelming force that the enemy has no will to resist.
“All enemies in the vicinity of Dandong have expressed their intention to surrender!”
“Aiden who participated as a mercenary said it was not fun and is destroying a mountain!”
“Raphael you said you would test the newly developed weapon but there were no people….”
“Raphael Aiden bring those two bastards in front of me this instant!”
There was no fighting.
The moment we crossed the Yalu River and the moment we crossed the collapsed wall.
My prediction that there would be a bloody fight was spectacularly wrong.
Usually a city caught up in war would be filled with chaos and despair but this is anything but that.

Even if you look at it right now it is like that.
A war correspondent interviewing citizens of Dandong there.
Let’s take a quick look at the interview.
“Reporter: Everyone seems to be in a good mood right now. Is there some kind of festival going on?”
“Citizen 1: No. It’s war!”
“Reporter: …Yes?”
“Citizen 1: Since the Limen Church saved us isn’t it natural to dance in joy! Mr. Reporter come in and have a drink of water before you go! I love you Kim Si-woo. I love the Limen Church!”
“Citizen 2: We’re alive now! Come on in and have a drink before I die.”
“Reporter: Suddenly I… Eww! I’ll drink I’ll drink! Eww-!”
This interview could be said to perfectly describe the current atmosphere of this city.
In any case contrary to expectations that he would face fierce resistance from the citizens he entered Dandong amidst all kinds of hospitality.
Some of them even flutter pollen I wonder where on earth they got it from.
If someone saw us they would think we were not an occupying force but a military unit participating in a ceremony.
Amidst cheers pouring in from all directions.
Luna said pretending to wipe away tears.
“Are you watching King Gwanggaeto? Our descendants have finally found our people’s homeland…”
“Luna you are from Eden. Come to your senses.”
“I am Korean at heart!”
Even Luna suddenly looks for King Gwanggaeto.
This place is literally a melting pot of chaos.
Has there ever been a place this chaotic since Dangun?
“The temporary restoration of the Yalu River Bridge has been completed.”
“We will start transporting relief supplies by train!”
The first thing South Korea did after recovering its lost land was to restore the railway.
Originally it should have been planned out over a period of years but with the help of magic and Raphael’s technical assistance combined with the unique spirit of speed in South Korea the restoration of the Gyeongui Line was astonishing.
The Gyeongui Line connecting Seoul and Sinuiju.
The railroad famous to the people of South Korea as the ‘Gyeongui-Jungang Line’ is finally starting to live up to its name.
“We are mobilizing all means including railways and aviation to bring in supplies.”
“Good.”
I nodded slowly while listening to Director Kim who was standing right next to me.
And next to him Seolhwa whom I hadn’t seen in a long time added her words.
“The Yalu River Bridge was temporarily restored using my magic so we need to start construction quickly brother.”
A tale of a man who has grown to a level where he can be called a great wizard without being seen.
I smiled brightly at that tale.
“It’s grown a lot. But if I repair the bridge with ice magic will it be okay? Won’t it slip on the ice?”
“You don’t have to worry about that.”
“If that’s what you’re saying then so be it. You’ve had a hard time.”

My heart feels happy every time I see the seeds I planted all over Korea grow into sturdy trees.
Minsu who helped me in the beginning is now leading a global MCN and helping with the evangelism of the Limen Church.
Mr. Seol Se-myeong is also active in the church’s public relations department.
Seolhwa is also now receiving attention as a wizard who will follow in the footsteps of Kang Chae-ah.
I am very moved.
Isn’t this the heart of a teacher who nurtures the same-skilled people?
“It doesn’t feel like war.”
Seol-hwa participated in the final stages of the Chinese Civil War and witnessed the horrors of war with her own eyes.
The fact that such words came out of such a fairy tale… even she could tell that it wasn’t a war atmosphere.
I nodded to Seol-hwa’s words.
“That’s how much the Baekmyeong Church and the Chinese government have been acting like trash here.”
Dandong once a city of death.
After our church purified this place the Chinese government began to resettle people here again.
These people originally lived in Dandong but fled to other regions.
If they were forced back into this land they should have at least been supported.
But looking at the citizens’ appearance it wasn’t like that.
The sanitary conditions seemed poor as the water supply facilities had not been properly restored and food seemed to be in short supply.
There has been a tactic called the scorched earth tactic since ancient times.
A tactic to exhaust enemy forces by eliminating all military supplies and food in the area that could be used by the enemy.
But having nothing is a problem but having this much is also a problem.
Opposites tend to attract.
Wasn’t it called Manryuguijong?
Isn’t that exactly what it is now?
Since we came here under the pretext of punishing Baek Myeong-gyo we cannot completely ignore the people’s livelihood.
“Please treat my child. He has been vomiting since yesterday…”
“Priests! Please!”
It looks like they’re trying to delay our advance as much as possible through these people…
It is impossible to ignore these poor people.
I raised my hand and called Leo. Then Leo came next to me and bowed his head.
“Your Majesty give your order.”
“Let’s start with treatment by mobilizing priests. Let’s start with treating contagious patients.”
“Then will the troops wait here?”
“The main force will wait here for a while. We have received intelligence that the enemy has crossed the Yellow River and is retreating so we will gather more information and then move.”
Leo said calmly at those words.
“If you delay it may be disadvantageous.”
“When did I say I wasted time? I said the main force would just wait here for a moment.”
As I always say overwhelming power gives you more choices.
Especially in a war like this.
I called out to two men from afar who were extremely frustrated.
“Raphael Aiden.”
Then two irregulars who have now lost their citizenship approach me.
“Did you call?”
“Siwoo are you finally ready to play with me?”
Two irregulars that are difficult to deal with.
It seems like Baekmyeonggyo is trying to use various methods to delay us but originally a strategy should be established based on force.
The most powerful means of destroying strategy?
That is power no doubt about it.
And those two are the kind of guys who won’t be outdone no matter where they go.
“Starting today the two of you will act alone and wipe out all of Yohwa.”
“It’s nice to hear that.”
“Are you really guaranteeing autonomy?”
“Just make sure there are no civilian casualties. You can do that right?”
The two nodded as if they had been waiting for my words.
“I’m a man who can live without the law Siwoo. I’ll tear off the heads of those Baekmyeonggyo bastards and offer them to you. Hahaha! It’s been a while since I’ve been able to run wild. America won’t leave me alone. It’s my former homeland right? Isn’t it?”
“Aiden.”
“why?”
“Raphael knows moderation but I honestly can’t believe you. CEO Choi’s story.”
Aiden can’t be sent alone.
We need to give Aiden someone who can get along well with him but also restrain him.
Since CEO Choi and Aiden are close you can give them a chance and leave the cool-headed judgment to Seol-hwa.
Both of them nodded at my call.
“All right.”
“Okay brother.”
“Take the Goblin Guild and the Snow White Guild with you. Leave all the dangerous stuff to Aiden. Oh and if you find any enemy Irregular-level Awakened report them to me right away. I’ll wait here for an emergency call.”
It is still not known exactly how many irregulars there are over there.
First I will watch the situation with Ja-Hyeon and join in when an enemy Irregular-level Awakened One appears.
At my words Aiden looked at me quietly and then raised the corners of his lips in a bitter manner.
“Your Holiness how noble of you to speak of so openly sucking the honey by yourself.”
“If you tease me I’ll be stronger than you. Do you want to get hit for the first time in a while? I haven’t been able to hit you with all my might lately so I’m a little sexually frustrated.”
Then Aiden immediately turns around and waves his hand.
“I’m off. It is a warrior’s honor to grant a friend’s request.”
I guess it’s scary to be right.
Just hold the baby’s weight.
4.
Three hours after we entered Dandong.
Temporary command post established in Dandong.
“Good.”
I nodded in satisfaction as I looked at the map inside the tent.
Raphael and Aiden were advancing towards Yoha at a very fast speed.
Rebels?
There was no way any force could resist such overwhelming firepower.
“Not a single city in Aiden and Raphael’s path of advancement has any intention of rebelling.”
“Rather they welcome us here!”
“What the hell have these guys been doing until now?”
News of victory is heard everywhere.
It was a victory report that they had unilaterally occupied a city that had become an unoccupied territory rather than winning the battle.
“It looks like everyone is short on food.”
“…Isn’t this the 21st century? It’s not like our economy is that small so how can we have food…”
“According to the information coming in there seem to be quite a few missing people. I don’t think we can rule out the possibility that they were taken as sacrifices by the Baekmyeong Church…”
“That shouldn’t be made public until it’s confirmed.”
I let out a deep sigh as I mentally collected the information pouring in from all directions.
I’m crazy.
This isn’t some medieval battle there’s a plague in the occupied territory there’s a food shortage is this really something that should be happening in the 21st century?
“It seems like you’re putting a lot of burden on us.”
The enemies who keep pushing in people who are almost like refugees as if they want to test the administrative capacity of our Republic of Korea.
Looking at it this way it seems like this also falls under the category of human wave tactics…
“Oh this is so annoying.”
I frowned as I put the reports I was holding down on the desk.
I want to be on the front lines not in command.
It is my mission to destroy the enemies on the front lines and that is why Limen gave me strength.
I think it would be less tiring to just mindlessly destroy the enemy rather than acting as a commander from behind like this…
Waaaaa …
Then suddenly a siren rang out inside the tent.
It meant that an emergency had occurred.
Then the inside of the tent became very busy.
The first to react was Kang Chae-ah.
“Report the situation! What’s happening?”
The information officer quickly answered Kang Chae-ah’s question.
“Irregular Raphael has reported an encounter with an Irregular!”
“Okay then the awakened Cheon Ja-hyeon will personally provide support…”
“Chae-ah.”
How could I miss such a great opportunity?
I carefully placed my hand on Chae-ah’s shoulder and spoke in a low voice.
“I will go.”
“But the Pope himself is going…”
“Please let me go.”
I can’t bring myself to say that I’m frustrated.
…it’s a good opportunity to relieve stress.
Ah I want to break everything.
Our Pope please stop this
