Somebody Stop the Pope – 259

Episode 259
3.
Congressman Seok Dae-man was sent to the basement by Leo leaving only me and Congressman Kim Seok-hoon in the office.
I leisurely drank the chrysanthemum tea that Archbishop Laparte had poured me again. Then I looked at Assemblyman Kim Seok-hoon with a secret look in my eyes.
Rep. Kim Seok-hoon still couldn’t take his eyes off the list of bribe recipients.
What are you thinking?
Are you trying to figure out what excuse you’re going to make for me?
I wanted to give him plenty of time to think.
To be honest I wanted to see how far it would go.
But the words that came out of his mouth a moment later were quite different from what I expected.
“I won’t make excuses. All of this is my fault for not managing the party properly.”
What came out of his mouth was neither an excuse nor anger.
Judging from the trembling at the end of his voice he clearly felt humiliated. But the humiliation he felt did not come from me.
“I am ashamed of myself. If I were to say that I knew nothing in this situation… that would be a lie and a ridiculous excuse.”
He admitted his mistake without making any excuses.
But he was wrong.
I said this while looking into Rep. Kim Seok-hoon’s eyes.
“I don’t think so.”
“…yes?”
“I don’t think Representative Kim Seok-hoon knew. In fact he was a strong presidential candidate at the time but… he’s basically a toothless tiger now.”
The reason why I called in Rep. Seok Dae-man today in addition to Rep. Kim Seok-hoon.
That’s because that bastard Seok Dae-man is currently the leader of the largest faction in the opposition party.
To begin with Rep. Kim Seok-hoon was from a non-mainstream background.
Even though my words could have felt quite insulting Rep. Kim Seok-hoon just smiled bitterly.
“I thought the Pope had no interest in politics but he really knows a lot.”
“I’m not particularly interested but I could have found out if I wanted to. My subordinates are quite capable.”

It was really easy to find out that much information.
I could have gotten information from Director Kim and Archbishop Laparte is very keen on this.
Archbishop Laparte was also in charge of the Vatican’s diplomacy in Eden so he was also very interested in South Korean politics.
I continued the story slowly.
“If you look at the list many members of the ruling party are included. If the list is released it won’t just be the opposition party that will suffer.”
“Then this list is also for the President…”
“You checked first. The ruling party is probably also conducting its own investigation by now. They plan to cut it out before it rots away.”
Rep. Kim Seok-hoon put down the list while sighing.
And he wiped his face with both hands.
“What does the Pope want from me?”
Politicians love this kind of thing.
Even if I just talk roughly you can tell what I want to say.
If you roll around on this floor will you all end up like that?
“It’s not that Assemblyman Kim Seok-hoon is completely free from faults. He failed to stop those below him from taking the wrong path. It’s a responsibility that he must naturally shoulder as a leader.”
“I know.”
The opposition party is collapsing?
That’s not the kind of picture I want.
From the beginning I still believe that politics and religion should be separated.
Limen would also like to see something like that.
But in cases like now where intervention is unavoidable it must be resolved with minimal measures.
Making the rotten part self-cut.
Now I was thinking of providing that ‘opportunity’ to Representative Kim Seok-hoon.
“Before I make my proposal let me show you what Baek Myeong-gyo wants. Excuse me for a moment.”
I got up from my chair and approached him.
And after drawing up the gray divine power he poured it into Rep. Kim Seok-hoon’s body.
Then after a while.
“Ugh.”
Congressman Kim Seok-hoon squeezed his eyes shut and tried to swallow his groans.
My divine power is showing him what I have seen.
Things Baekmyeonggyo has done so far.
Starting with the last time’s giant S-class gate the voices they told me.
There are even some futures that Terra showed me.
This was one of the abilities I gained when I absorbed Fenrir.
The ability to instantly align the other person’s mind with mine through my divine power.
“iced coffee.”
Congressman Kim Seok-hoon opened his eyes again and looked at me with a trembling expression.
He was speechless for a long time.

It seemed like he was mentally deciding what questions to ask me.
How much time has passed like that?
He spoke to me in a weary voice.
“Did we bring those monsters… back to this land?”
“You have amazing mental strength.”
An ordinary person would have fainted the moment they saw what I just showed them.
It’s truly superhuman mental strength.
I nodded slowly.
“That’s what it is.”
“Why… why such horrible things….”
“They do that because they don’t know better. When you’re blinded by your lust for power you can’t even see things that are easy to see. Well… this is just my guess. We’ll have to find out more about it from now on.”
Baek Myeong-gyo didn’t get to this point simply by giving bribes.
Perhaps some of the politicians are believers of Baekmyeonggyo or were forcibly converted by them.
We plan to dig in quickly from that point on.
That is also why Representative Seok Dae-man was detained.
I spoke in a low voice to Representative Kim Seok-hoon.
“President Seo said that Congressman Kim Seok-hoon is a politician who must be acknowledged even though his path is different. I will give you enough time. It will be a fight where you lose a lot but isn’t it better than losing everything?”
It remains to be seen what choice he will make but I don’t think he will make a wrong choice.
You don’t seem like the kind of person who would turn away even after seeing the truth.
Up until now there were just too many people blocking his view.
When all those shadows are gone what kind of picture will this person be drawing?
I was personally curious but decided to put that curiosity aside for the time being.
“Then please take your time and return the car. Please actively discuss the issues that Archbishop Lapart and Representative Kim Seok-hoon wanted to discuss.”
“Understood Your Majesty.”
Now let Representative Kim Seok-hoon hand over to Archbishop Lapart.
I think I should go eat the main dish soon.
Are you freaking out by now?
4.
A while later in the temple’s underground interrogation room.
“I misunderstood. I misunderstood.”
I clicked my tongue as I looked at the stone statue tied to the chair in the middle of the interrogation room.
I thought you’d be shaking with fear by now but humans are really interesting.
“Do you think you’ll be okay after forcibly detaining the opposition party’s National Assembly members like this! How dare you detain us with a list that is not even sure if it was rigged? During our term as National Assembly members we….”
“If there is a criminal suspected of being involved the Irregulars will conduct an investigation based on their own judgment. The only people excluded from the investigation are the President the Speaker of the National Assembly the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court… Isn’t that clearly stated in the Irregulars Special Act?”
I slowly approached the guy grabbed his chin and said with a bitter laugh.
“Where does a single member of the National Assembly raise his voice against an irregular? You were the ones who passed the bill that gave me this authority.”
Bad guys have always been like this.
It was nice to see him remain shameless until the very end.
“The faction you lead is the largest faction in the opposition party? Is that why your faction has the most names on that list across both the ruling and opposition parties?”
“We’re investigating…..”
“Oh it’s so dark that you can’t see well? Leo turn on the light.”
“yes.”
Leo followed my instructions and turned on the lights in the interrogation room.
Then soon a man lying in a corner of the interrogation room covered in blood began to stir.
Nana Leo could see well even in the dark but to Seok Dae-man it must have seemed like someone had suddenly appeared.
“Ugh ugh.”
Only after seeing the man covered in blood does Seok Dae-man’s spirits subside.
It couldn’t be helped because the man’s condition was not very good.
“Oh excuse me. Could you please fix that for me? Shouldn’t you have been nicer to the customer?”
“I’m sorry. The guy just wouldn’t open his mouth.”
The identity of that man is Sungjun the drug dealer I caught myself.
He was a criminal who was caught distributing Baekmyeonggyo’s drug ‘Repentance’.
Leo treated Sungjun appropriately.
Then the guy came to his senses and as soon as Sungjun woke up he screamed and shouted.
“Please! I told you everything I know. Please… Just stop… Stop treating me. Please… Or send me to prison. Yes yes! Send me to prison.”
Seongjun begs to be sent to prison instead.
I could clearly see how Leo had conducted his interrogation.
“Have you extracted all the information you need?”
Leo nodded slowly to my question.
“He was just a distributor so he didn’t have much information. I think he extracted enough information.”
“Then hand it over to the police.”
“Should we just leave it like this?”
“Wouldn’t it be okay if we made them crippled one limb at a time?”
“All right.”
Leo dragged Sungjun out of the interrogation room like a sack leaving Seokdae and I alone in the interrogation room.
Seok Dae-man’s momentum which had been running wild until just a moment ago had slowed down.
No it wasn’t just a little bit of relief it was just really intimidating.
He must not be in his right mind after witnessing the horrific scene with his own eyes.
“I guess we can understand each other now.”
I pulled a chair from the corner and sat down across from Seokdaeman.
Then a slight smell of urine comes up.
“Did you even pee?”
“Are you thinking… of making something like that too?”
“You suddenly became polite. That guy was a drug dealer. His crimes were different from yours.”
“Thank goodness…..”
“That’s fortunate. The crime is to say that you are worse. At best he distributed drugs to drug dealers but you are different. You are the number one culprit who brought monsters into this land.”
One of the main figures who actively mobilized all means at his disposal including political media to create a favorable public opinion toward Baek Myeong-gyo.
All these things were committed out of blindness to power.
“What good is power when everything else is meaningless?”
What do you do when you have power?
It’s useless once the world where you can enjoy power disappears.
And yet it is humans who can do such stupid things.
I looked straight into Seok Dae-man’s eyes.
“Let me start with a simple question. When was your first contact with Baek Myeong-gyo?”
The interrogation began.
I started by asking the guy the easiest question to answer. But Seok-dae still kept his mouth shut.
It’s scary to see it tremble but I guess there’s something even scarier.
It turns out he didn’t just receive money from Baek Myeong-gyo.
Did the guys interfere with the threats?
If you’re this uncooperative then there’s nothing I can do.
“I ask you again Seok Dae-man. When was the first time you came into contact with Baek Myeong-gyo?”
Still no answer.
Seok Dae-man shook his head vigorously while shivering.
“If you tell me that I’ll die. I’ll really really die.”
“Are you saying you can’t answer because you’re scared?”
“You don’t know… No matter how much I tell you you won’t know how scary they are…”
“good.”
I guess he’s not ready to be properly interrogated yet.
I shrugged and grabbed Seokdaeman’s shoulder without hesitation.
And then it sank into my shoulder.
Kkwudduk.
The sound of bones breaking echoed through the stone statue’s screams.
“Kkaaaaaaah!”
Seokdaeman writhing in pain.
I whispered softly into Seokdaeman’s ear.
“Do you think I won’t kill you?”
Our Pope please stop this
