Somebody Stop the Pope – 254

Episode 254
5.
This battlefield was more chaotic and disorienting than any battlefield I had ever experienced.
“Is this why mixing genres is doomed to failure?”
Kwajijijik.
Phew! Phew!
I moved forward distorting the skull of a Death Knight with my right hand and the upper body of a robot with my left.
The sky dyed with dark clouds has long since been dyed in various colors like fireworks.
Flying monsters fly around and the space between them is filled with drones and strange flying objects.
Is it the scream of a human or the scream of a monster?
It’s getting harder and harder to tell the difference.
“older brother!”
As I was mindlessly making my way through the streets a man appeared in front of me.
Of course it was Ja-Hyeon.
Ja-Hyeon landed next to me lightly stepping on the air.
Walking on air is first-class.
“Communication is not possible right now. Communication using the magic stone is also not possible.”
“I can’t confirm the situation elsewhere… It’s only natural given the situation.”
Communication using magic stones is ultimately a means that relies on magical power.
There is no way it can function properly in a place like this where all kinds of energies are mixed together.
It wasn’t long after the battle began that the command structure had already collapsed.
The flow is not good.
A battle that loses its momentum naturally results in enormous casualties.
There is only one way to minimize damage in this situation.
“Ja-Hyeon you can break through to the core in one breath.”
“Should I take the lead and break through?”

“Do you feel that black circle core over there?”
Then Ja-Hyeon narrowed her eyes for a moment shrugged her shoulders and answered.
“There’s one thing that feels similar to my brother.”
“The gate itself was created by the ancient gods. I ate one of them so something similar should be possible.”
At my answer Ja-Hyeon glanced at my face.
“You’ll get sick if you eat that.”
“I have a strong stomach.”
“If you get any weirder there you know that Earth won’t be able to handle it right?”
How crazy do you think I am to say something like that?
I guess I’ll have to give you some training after the battle is over.
I gave the guy a hard slap on the back then pointed my finger at the center of the gate and said
“You just have to get through there.”
“Then together…..”
“What are you talking about? You have to go through it alone. My brother has to save up his strength in case of an unexpected battle.”
Even I can’t guess what’s hiding in that fog.
That’s why it was necessary to conserve as much strength as possible.
Ja-Hyeon opened her eyes wide at my shameless voice and said.
“Your excuses are too insincere…”
“Shut up and get through this quickly.”
“…yes.”
As soon as I raised my fist Ja-Hyeon immediately raised his internal energy.
Purple smoke began to rise from Ja-Hyeon’s body.
A martial art that he himself introduced as the Heavenly Demon Art.
I wasn’t really curious about the name of the martial arts but its power was truly amazing.
Kkudduk.
A force solely for destruction.
The purple threads extending from Ja-Hyeon’s body are very effective in piercing the enemy’s windpipe.
The wind that Ja-Hyeon swung endlessly shot out from the sword and everything that the wind touched turned to dust and flowed down.
Is anything beautiful when taken to its extreme?
The guy’s fights were like watching a beautiful work of art… honestly it was just too much.
Anyway it was very useful.
“Good.”
I diligently ran forward along the path that Ja-Hyeon had paved for me.
6.
“Ha I feel like I’m really going to die.”
“Thank you for your hard work.”
Thanks to Ja-Hyeon’s help I was able to arrive at the center of the gate with ease.

As soon as you step into the central area of the gate fog begins to creep up.
Only after feeling the fog with my own body could I guess what the fog was.
“It wasn’t fog it was more like energy.”
Some of the energies scattered during the process of different energies colliding.
Those energies were covering the center like fog.
“What are you going to do from now on?”
Ja-Hyeon squinted one eye and put the sword back in its scabbard for a moment.
“How are you feeling?”
“I’m sensitive because these foggy things keep trying to enter my body. Just to that extent. I can still fight more.”
It seems that this fog has the function of weakening the power of the Awakened.
“What about you brother?”
“I’m fine. I feel a little sick but I’m not uncomfortable.”
Is it because I absorbed the power of an ancient god last time?
Although it was an unpleasant fog I didn’t feel like my divine power was being dispersed or blurred.
I nodded slightly and slowly looked ahead.
Fog that makes it difficult to see even an inch ahead.
The gate’s core was located much further inside than expected.
“It’s not good.”
Intuition constantly alerts us to danger.
There’s something lurking in the fog.
It was so quiet here unlike the fog outside that was no different from hell.
As if everything was already dead.
Bam.
Something was kicked at my feet. I looked down to see what it was and it was the headless corpse of a foreign species.
A grotesque corpse with only the body remaining.
The area around the corpse’s neck had irregular marks as if it had been bitten by something.
“It looks like there’s a baby beast?”
I spoke to Ja-hyeon in a subtle way and Ja-hyeon nodded in response.
“It smells like blood. I can cover up the energy but I don’t think I can completely erase the smell.”
As Ja-hyeon said the smell of blood was clearly felt.
I don’t know if it was the smell of blood coming from the corpse but something was bleeding here.
I nodded and lightly lit the torch.
The white flames that rose from my hand quickly began to burn away the fog.
Then little by little the field of vision became clearer.
The corpses scattered here were not just one.
“…under.”
Hundreds and thousands of corpses were strewn everywhere.
All of the corpses looked like they had been bitten by an animal.
I followed the corpses that were laid out as if on a road.
At the end of that gaze stood a huge wolf with dark red fur.
Next to the wolf were humans with familiar divine powers.
“Are you saying you won’t hide it at all anymore?”
Baek Myeong-gyo.
They were undoubtedly followers of Baekmyeonggyo.
One of the men standing at the very front of the group slowly walked forward.
“I am Jong Park Joong-geun a follower of the White and Bright Order. Pope Kim Si-woo. This area is currently under the control of our Baekmyeonggyo. Don’t worry.”
A blunt voice that seems to have no emotions.
The man looked at me and Ja-hyeon alternately as he spoke.
“This wolf is Fenrir given to us by the One we serve. He is an apostle who descended to this land with the mission to eliminate those who disrupt order.”
After hearing the man’s words Ja-hyeon looked at me. Then she smiled and said.
“Is that so?”
“That’s right.”
That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard today.
The being they called ‘Fenrir’ was glaring at me with blood all over its mouth.
Maybe that crimson fur is because it’s covered in blood.
“We are not the enemies of humanity. And neither is Fenrir here.”
The unprecedented nonsense finally began to flow from the mouth of Park Joong-geun who revealed himself as a believer of Baekmyeonggyo.
When Ja-Hyeon heard that she laughed out loud and then wiped her tears and said.
“Brother is that kid finally talking crazy?”
“Leave it alone. Let me hear how far you can go.”
I nodded as I summoned the gauntlets and put them on.
“So what are you guys arguing?”
Park Joong-geun answered my question in a still blunt voice.
“We may be enemies to the Order of Limen but think of the many who stand behind you. Fighting Fenrir is not a good choice.”
There was a clear sense of divinity coming from Fenrir.
That means that wolf is also a god.
“Fenrir is a being who finally achieved godhood by devouring the foolish gods who refused the new order. He can be said to be a being who can protect humanity from those who come from other dimensions.”
“You guys didn’t open the gate with the intention of bringing this guy in from the beginning did you?”
Park Joong-geun did not answer my question.
Just looking at me without saying anything.
Grrrrr.
Fenrir bared his teeth at me and crimson blood flowed from between his teeth.
The guy’s mouth was stuffed with unchewed corpses.
For someone who was supposed to protect humanity he was too vicious and cruel.
I slowly approached Fenrir.
And then he looked at the Baekmyeonggyo believers next to him and snickered.
“I have been quietly watching what you have been doing. Whether the opposition party is trying to help you create a government or the media is protecting you it is none of my business.”
The fog is getting thick.
As if trying to cover up the scene he tried to erase the gruesome corpses strewn across the floor.
But the holy fire that spreads from my body prevents the fogs from regenerating.
I already knew why the guys were trying to hide the bodies in fog.
Not all of the corpses lying on the floor were monsters or aliens that had crawled out of the gate.
“What difference do you think it would make if all the evidence was completely erased?”
The corpses of Awakened people belonging to the Ability Management Department and Awakened people belonging to large guilds were also strewn about here.
I don’t know through what process their bodies ended up here.
But one thing is certain.
All those corpses were eaten by that young beast named Fenrir.
“Everything requires sacrifice. In order for a new order to be created it is necessary to make sacrifices commensurate with it.”
It was only after hearing that I realized that these guys were really going to cause trouble.
Now the Baekmyeong Church and the ancient gods will not hide their intentions.
Just like in this place right now.
Park Joong-geun said while glaring at me.
“There is no evidence left. Humans always rely on what they see and hear. Do you have any evidence that we killed them? They only sacrificed themselves to protect humanity from the Gate.”
“Evidence. I really like evidence.”
Eventually this hazy mist will erase the sins of Baekmyeonggyo from this place.
This fog was there from the beginning to cover up their sins and rationalize everything.
I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at that.
“I should have said that from the beginning. But I think you guys forgot one thing… Aren’t my eyes the proof?”
“The Limen Sect is a group that has always been hostile to the Baekmyung Sect. It is possible that such a group could spread false rumors and tarnish the reputation of the Baekmyung Sect. Do you know that? The moment you kill us and destroy the core this fog will disperse. And only the corpses of the Baekmyung Sect will remain. Then who will people suspect?”
The guy kindly points out that I might be in trouble.
Our church had too much to protect and was therefore under many restrictions.
And Baek Myeong-gyo has been persistently digging into that part up until now.
Just like right now.
I nodded slightly while looking at Park Joong-geun.
“I’ll tell you a way. Listen.”
Honestly I’ve done enough so far.
I guess these guys thought I’d save face until the end but unfortunately I’m not that great of a person.
It’s better this way.
“How about just disposing of all your bodies here and then destroying the core? How about this method?”
From now on it’s just an all-out war.
The prestige of the church?
face?
Let that kind of thing just happen.
“You guys did it first.”
Our Pope please stop this
