    Episode 248

    6.

To conclude the instigator of the protest in front of my house was not Mr. Lim Seong-ho who I spoke with last time.

I had already expected that the instigator of this protest would be different.

Because Mr. Im Seong-ho wasn’t the type to be so irresponsible as to come all the way to someone’s house to protest.

While the protest group led by Mr. Im Seong-ho at that time was comprised of victims and victimizers the composition of the protest group illegally occupying the space in front of my house today was truly surprising.

It seemed like all the pseudo-heresies from various fields including Protestantism and Buddhism had gathered in one place.

At first I thought about just cleaning it up without anyone knowing but that wasn’t the right way.

So the method I chose was the ‘peaceful’ method.

    “Everyone please sit down.”

First I gathered those who could be considered representatives from among them and brought them to the office.

Wouldn’t a temple with an interrogation room in the basement be the perfect place to negotiate?

    “Huh?”

    “Ahem.”

There were three people who came forward as representatives of the protest.

As soon as they sat down they simultaneously coughed and spoke.

Two men wearing suits and one man wearing a strange robe.

I didn’t really ask for the name.

    Why?

I never had any intention of asking in the first place.

“I was enjoying my vacation at home. They gave a one-week vacation to all the members of the Limen Church. So I was having a meal with my family for the first time in a while… I’m upset.”

I slowly began to talk to them as I looked around.

I think we’ve all seen this somewhere.

They are said to be celebrities.

I don’t think it was seen as a good thing.

“I would like to offer you tea but as you can see there is no one here. So I hope you understand.”

    I said forcing a smile.

Then the middle-aged man who had been sitting arrogantly in front of me looked at me with a displeased expression.

“If you think about it you could say that he is a senior in the industry but is this how he treats customers? This is so unpleasant.”

“I wonder if it would be more unpleasant than protesting in front of someone else’s house.”

“We just proudly represented the voice of the people. Don’t you know that you are now smearing the faces of religious people? If you are religious you should love peace as a religious person not wage war in a foreign country?”

At those words the other two men nodded as if they had been waiting for it.

First of all it seemed like the middle-aged man was the unspoken leader because he had the loudest voice.

I nodded with a big smile.

I came here for the same reason as Mr. Im Seong-ho but the start was different.

Mr. Im Seong-ho respected me but these people started by belittling me.

I don’t want to drag things out with these people.

In the first place conversation is something you exchange with people you can understand.

Conversation when you can’t even communicate?

There is nothing more useless than that.

“If you had any complaints about me you should have filed a formal complaint with the church.”

“If you had raised an objection! Would you have listened to it?”

    “Of course.”

“You’re talking nonsense! A person like you wouldn’t listen to other people’s voices would you?”

A middle-aged man who strongly voices his opinion as if my answer doesn’t matter.

Half of his head was bald so it’s hard to tell the difference so let’s just call him half-bald.

Anyway the bastard thought he had gained some momentum and raised his voice.

“Do you know how much damage we have suffered because of the Limen Church? The number of believers has decreased and so has our income! The Limen Church has always been like that. They have no regard for others.”

    “That’s right.”

    “you’re right!”

In short as our church’s influence expanded it became difficult to make a living… That’s what I’m saying.

How long do I have to listen to that dog eating grass?

    Knock knock.

As I was quietly listening to the sound a man knocked on the door and entered the office.

    “His Holiness.”

“I’m sorry to call you when you’re on vacation Brother Eun-taek.”

It was none other than Eun-taek the leader of the heretic inquisitors.

Mr. Eun-taek entered the office wearing the crimson priestly robes that only the heresy inquisitors were allowed to wear.

Our Eun-taek who is now perfectly adapted to his duties as an Inquisitor.

    It was truly incredibly sturdy.

“It is my duty to run wherever Your Majesty calls. Don’t worry.”

    “I hope you had a good time…”

“No. We received a report that there were people impersonating the religious group in the Seoul area and we were investigating.”

“Is that so? There’s been a lot of fraud lately.”

The number of people pretending to be members of the Limen Church and extorting money or committing fraud has also increased significantly.

Because of those guys the reputation of the church was also in trouble.

We need to expand the number of Inquisitors.

“Here is the information you requested.”

Mr. Lee Eun-taek handed me a tablet PC.

Inside were files organizing information investigated by the Inquisitors.

Of course it was information about the three protest leaders gathered here.

“These were people I had been keeping an eye on and I had received anonymous submissions several times.”

“What if it was an anonymous submission?”

“Sexual extortion financial extortion gaslighting etc. This is when the victim has reported it or their family has asked for help.”

    “It’s so neatly organized.”

I nodded in satisfaction and scrolled down the file.

Ban-pak who had been quietly watching me like that stood up from his seat and shouted.

“Are you saying that you’re investigating us right now? You’re trying to get away with it so you’re going to completely reform us…”

    “Sit down.”

    “…What did you just say….”

    “Sit down.”

    An eye for an eye.

    This is this.

Those who raise their voices for their own greed should not be treated the same.

I said looking at the awkwardly positioned Ban-Pak-Yi.

    “Let’s sit down and talk.”

Sometimes a hard line is the answer.

    Just like right now.

“Everyone here seems to have a lot of problems… What should I do if they try to run away already?”

As I spoke with a smirk Ban-bak answered with a stutter.

    “You you are innocent? Huh?”

At those words I said with a big smile.

“Of course. The Limen Church is a model church that complies with the laws of the Republic of Korea and international law.”

    7.

I am a person who can live without law.

“Thank you for your cooperation with the Limen Church and Pope Kim Si-woo! With the evidence you provided we will thoroughly reveal the sins and make them pay for their crimes!”

After a two-hour long interrogation… no after the meeting.

I handed over the cult leaders who had gathered there to Director Kim.

The amount of information collected by our church’s heresy inquisitors was truly enormous.

Information comes in through reports and we collate that information and conduct investigations.

It was a level of investigative power that made you feel like Leo had really put in his best effort to raise him.

“They were evildoers who could have been judged directly in the name of the church without any problem.”

Mr. Eun-taek spoke quietly as he watched the pseudo-religious leaders being handed over to the government.

“The Inquisitors are ready to pass judgment on evil at any time Your Holiness.”

“Wouldn’t I have wanted to do that?”

I believe that the proper function of faith is to suggest a better path to people and walk together with them.

No matter what religion you have at least you should not harm others.

In that respect they went too far.

It was full of all kinds of evil deeds.

How long have they been sucking blood like leeches burrowing into people’s daily lives?

I couldn’t even dare to guess.

“It’s not a good time to get hands-on.”

If we had stepped in and sorted everything out ourselves at a time like this we would have heard bad things about it.

The Limen sect is oppressing other religions. The Limen sect is trying to become the state religion of South Korea.

As established religions also rose up negative public opinion would have been created.

    So that’s it for now.

The government will take care of the rest of the matter.

“If that doesn’t work let’s quietly kidnap him to the basement of the church later. What do you think Brother Eun-taek?”

    “That’s a good idea.”

    “Right?”

I smiled faintly and patted Eun-taek on the back. Then I turned around with my hands behind my back.

“Well today’s work is almost done so let’s go home and finish eating… Brother Eun-taek have you eaten?”

    “no.”

“My younger siblings are both going out to eat dinner tonight. How about a cozy meal just the two of us for the first time in a while?”

    “Is that okay?”

“Of course. How about the pork belly restaurant in front of the holy land? And a glass of soju after a long time. Sounds good huh?”

    “great.”

I walked slowly through the garden of the holy land with Mr. Lee Eun-taek.

A garden where access to citizens is still restricted.

The gardens will be open to the public again next week but without people they look quite desolate.

    “Kyowaaaaaaang!”

    “Play with us!”

And it always seemed to be the same for the fairies playing in the garden.

I looked at the fairies who were giving me thumbs up and I followed them and gave them a thumbs up.

“Please take good care of the Holy Land.”

    “Where are you going?”

    “Where are you going!”

“Let’s go eat samgyeopsal with Brother Eun-taek. Why do you want to go together?”

Then the fairies shook their heads.

    “no!”

“Buy me some strawberries when you come!”

    “I am an orange!”

    “I apologize!”

Anyway I’m telling you it’s crazy when you’re with fairies.

I should stop by a fruit shop when I come.

We must be kind to the fairies who keep our holy land beautiful whether it snows or rains.

It’s noisy but isn’t it cute?

    “His Holiness.”

As I was walking through the bustling garden thanks to the fairies Eun-taek who was walking next to me quietly called out to me.

    “yes.”

“But wouldn’t it be better to take action against the media regarding the pseudo-religious leaders who were handed over to the government earlier? If we do it wrong false rumors could spread that the government and the Limen sect colluded to arrest those who were protesting.”

Our Eun-taek who is considering follow-up measures as an Inquisitor.

    It was incredibly sturdy.

But I just smiled and waved my hand lightly.

“I’ve already told the Sejong Ilbo. I’m sure they’ve been reporting on their criminal activities by now.”

    The headline is pretty predictable.

<Those who demanded the expulsion of the Limen Church from South Korea turned out to be vicious criminals?>

    It’s just a spicy taste.

It’s annoying to be here because there’s a lot of work to do.

We need to communicate with the media from time to time and pay close attention to public opinion.

Isn’t this perhaps the weight of a leader that President Seo was talking about?

“Please always be like this Brother Eun-taek. If you just keep doing this I think I will be incredibly strong.”

“Thank you for trusting me Your Majesty.”

    “I am grateful.”

A man from North Korea who was waiting for death in a lost land is now a trusted inquisitor.

Isn’t this kind of blessing truly a blessing from Limen?

It was while I was walking in the garden feeling good.

    Woohoo.

The smartphone in my pocket vibrated.

I took out my phone and checked and the caller was none other than Inwook.

“Oh Inwook. Are you and Grace doing well?”

    -Brother news news!

    “news?”

-Just take a quick look! What are you going to do if the Pope finds out later than me?

    What’s all the fuss about?

I frowned and grumbled as I logged onto the portal site.

<Breaking News> is posted in full size on the portal site.

As soon as I saw that ‘breaking news’ I couldn’t help but frown.

And then he spoke to Inwook on the other end of the phone.

    “Confirmed. Hang up.”

    -Should I send Grace back?

“This is school work. Have fun and come back.”

I quickly hung up the phone and spoke to Eun-taek right away.

“Let’s have dinner later Brother Eun-taek. I will urgently summon the executives.”

The <Breaking News> that made its way to the front page of the portal site was as follows.

<Baekmyeong Church which once withdrew from South Korea plans to establish a new parish in the country.>

<Will the Baekmyeong Church which divided the Limen Church and the Chinese mainland re-enter the country?>

    The big one has arrived.

That’s a very big one too.

    “ha.”

Chaos was seeping into the divided gap.

I walked quickly lightly clenching my fists.

    Our Pope please stop this
