Somebody Stop the Pope – 244
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 244
“Stop the overseas intervention of the Limen Church!”
“How long must we shed meaningless blood in other countries’ wars?”
“Stop the war!”
“Stop!”
The first thing to deal with was the magic stones installed in Seoul.
But the moment I arrived at the scene I couldn’t help but feel dizzy.
The protesters arrived at the scene and were giving passionate speeches as if they had somehow found out.
The atmosphere was quite serious.
“This is an operational area. Do not enter!”
“It’s dangerous!”
Agents from the Ability Management Department were hurriedly trying to stop the citizens but the citizens continued their protest regardless.
“The people of the Republic of Korea are in danger because of the Limen Church!”
“Pope Kim Si-woo reflect!”
“Reflect!”
My name is popping up everywhere.
The number of protesters is around 30.
They noticed me standing among the agents and continued their protest even more violently.
…I’m going to go back.
It would be easier to deal with the Demon King.
Last time Inwook said that anti-war public opinion was spreading rapidly within South Korea.
The protests taking place today may also be a result of that reversal of public opinion.
The reversal of public opinion is completely understandable.
Because other people might think that the Chinese civil war is just a civil war in a neighboring country and has nothing to do with South Korea.

These causes sometimes lose their meaning in the face of the sacrifices that must be made to save humanity and create a better future.
That is why I could fully accept the anti-war public opinion in the country.
That’s not why I’m feeling bad right now.
Of course you can protest. If you wanted to protest against the war within the sacred grounds of our church we could have allowed it.
The real problem is.
“How did you know we were coming here?”
Where did the information leak from?
Seoul Sejong Busan.
All three places were hastily put together teams as soon as I contacted them today.
There would have been no time for the information to leak out.
But the protesters showed up as soon as we arrived as if they had been waiting for us here.
At this point several possibilities come to mind but this is the most likely one.
“Did you receive the Purifier’s order… or did the Purifier deliberately leak information to us?”
There was no sense of magic at all from the protesters.
That means they are perfect ordinary people.
It is highly likely that the purifier provided the information through anonymous reports or similar means.
“I apologize Your Holiness. I think our response was inadequate.”
Kang Chae-ah bowed her head toward me and said.
I lightly waved my hand towards Kang Chae-ah.
“There’s nothing the government can do right?”
“Illegal protest without prior notification…”
“It’s okay. If we forcibly disband them… it will be difficult for both us and the government.”
I can feel that the way the Purifiers move has changed.
It’s a pretty sharp move.
It was a business that the guys had nothing to lose.
If the terrorist attack succeeds it can cause great chaos and even if it fails it can be used as a public opinion war.
From our perspective we cannot simply ignore public opinion.
If we lose the battle of public opinion not only will the morale of our fighters drop but the morale of the mercenaries dispatched to China will also drop in a chain reaction.
Tch.
This time we were completely exploited.
“How are Sejong and Busan now?”
Kang Chae-ah answered my question with a small sigh.
“It’s a similar situation here.”
“It smells.”
Anyway these Purifiers are experts at annoying people.
I took a deep breath and slowly walked towards the protesters.
Then a man who appeared to be the leader of the protesters put his mouth to the loudspeaker and shouted.

“How long are you going to shed meaningless blood! Can you trample on the support of the people towards you like this?”
He looks straight at me.
There is no sign of falsehood or dirty desire in his face.
Eyes full of conviction.
Even though I stopped right in front of him the man never lost his nerve.
He put down the loudspeaker he was holding and looked straight at me without saying anything.
I asked him indirectly.
“Can I ask your name?”
Then he answered immediately.
“My name is Im Seong-ho.”
He didn’t hesitate to answer.
“Who told you that we were coming here today?”
“An anonymous tip has arrived.”
“There is a dangerous substance hidden here that could turn the city into a wasteland.”
“We have no intention of stopping the Pope or the government. We just wanted to make our voices heard.”
Lim Seong-ho’s voice was incredibly calm.
That was a voice that only those with firm convictions could speak.
I looked around the protesters again.
Lim Seong-ho spoke quietly to me like that.
“The Pope should do his job. We should do our job.”
If they wanted to force a disbandment they could have done so at any time.
If they had merely tried to interfere with us I would have dispersed them without mercy.
But Im Seong-ho bowed his head politely toward me.
“I sincerely apologize for the mistakes made by some protesters due to their emotions. I am also sorry for protesting without prior notice. However I thought that if we did not do this the Pope would not be able to hear our voices.”
What kind of voice did you want to tell me?
I looked at him for a long time then said in a quiet voice.
“Let’s put out the urgent fire first. And then… is it okay if I hear your voices after that?”
It was hard to say that these people were bad but the Purifiers who leaked information to them were the bad guys.
I don’t know what the story is but I guess I’ll have to listen to it anyway.
I said this while looking into Im Seong-ho’s eyes.
“We are not so self-righteous as to ignore those who think differently.”
“…I know.”
“If you had formally requested a meeting with me I would have made time for you at any time.”
The method is clearly wrong.
But I had no intention of completely ignoring their intentions.
Let’s put out the urgent fire first and then talk.
“This place is dangerous. So please go to the Holy Land and continue the demonstration. If you are there I will come to see you as soon as I finish my work.”
Perhaps our church was not sufficiently persuaded to intervene in the Chinese civil war.
Im Seong-ho nodded slightly at my words and I nodded along with him.
“Ms. Kang Chae-ah.”
“yes.”
“Let’s finish the operation quickly first.”
“All right.”
It’s all because of those purifiers.
Those guys who are not satisfying even if you chew and eat them.
I took a deep breath and entered the restricted area.
4.
“It’ll be a bit difficult to go see Brother Juwon’s younger sibling right after we finish.”
I’m going down to the basement of a building to find the Undead Plague Stone.
I spoke to Won Joo who was following me in a subtle manner.
“it’s okay!”
“I’m sorry. I’m the type of person who always keeps my promises… After we finish talking to them we move together right away.”
“yes.”
Are you concerned about the protesters from earlier?
His expression was extremely complex.
“Is there anything bothering you?”
“…I’m not worried. I’m not worried I’m just curious.”
If our prospective prophet has any questions of course we should ask them.
“Please speak comfortably.”
“Wasn’t this a situation that could have threatened everyone’s safety? I was worried that the Pope might be too lenient toward them… It was a little different from what I usually see of the Pope.”
“Brother Juwon don’t you think of me as too much of a villain?”
“In that sense what I said….”
I walked forward with a faint smile.
“That’s probably exactly what the people who planned this were hoping for.”
The sight of pushing forward only for the sake of one’s goal ignoring those who wish for peace.
That’s exactly what the Purifiers were expecting.
Because it would destroy the justification for intervening in the Chinese civil war and also destroy the image of the Limen sect.
“Brother Juwon.”
“Yes Your Holiness.”
“The quick way isn’t always the right way. That’s been my experience.”
Is it right for my opinion to unilaterally oppress others and move forward?
If our church were a corporation rather than a church that method might be the right one.
But we are a church.
A sect that follows the name of Limen and pursues goodness and justice.
“Even though I look like this I am still the Pope. I may not look like the Pope on the outside but I don’t act like one.”
“Oh that’s not what I meant at all…”
“It doesn’t take long to listen to the voice. If you start with physical force before talking aren’t you just a thug?”
Maybe I wasn’t convincing enough.
Just listen to their reasons for opposing the war and come up with a way out.
Forcing it through without even making an effort is not the right answer.
“It’s not the people who are speaking out that are at fault it’s the people who created this situation that are at fault.”
“…I understand.”
“Okay my brother Juwon. I like it.”
“But Your Holiness.”
“yes?”
“Why have you been calling me brother all this time…?”
“Oh that one?”
I put my arm around Juwon’s shoulder and said with a sly smile.
“I’ve been practicing in advance.”
“…Practice?”
“There is something like that.”
Looking at your eyes it seems like you’ve almost come to your senses.
Just push a little harder.
By the way when on earth did those Purifiers build something like this in the basement of a building like this?
“I guess I’ll have to take the time to thoroughly investigate. It looks like an abandoned altar.”
A long secret passage leading through an underground passage discovered in the basement of the building.
I cleaned it as if I was cleaning it but it seems like it wasn’t cleaned well.
The structure here was not much different from the altars located in China.
The only difference is that there is no trace of magic.
Upon closer inspection I noticed that the walls were plated with metal that shielded magic.
It seemed like the altar was originally built to prepare for this kind of situation.
“The passage is quite long.”
Because the place was so small we couldn’t bring in all of the government troops.
There are a total of 20 people who entered here with me including Kang Chae-ah and Joo Won.
He led them through a long corridor.
And soon we could reach the end of the passage.
A door with blood on it.
Since it was a place used as an altar it wouldn’t have been strange for there to be blood on the door but the problem was the freshness of the blood.
“It’s hot.”
It wasn’t that old of a blood.
It means that someone came here recently and shed blood.
I said as I put my knuckles on straight away.
“Ms. Chae-ah please wait here with your troops.”
There’s something beyond the door.
And there’s not an ordinary one there’s a very big one.
He is definitely not a magician.
Rather the blood on the door was detecting magic energy.
“It wasn’t comfortable today either.”
I came to South Korea to catch my breath for a moment but as always things didn’t go as planned.
That’s why I don’t make plans.
I took a deep breath then opened the door and went inside.
A large cavity that would once have been used as the Purifier’s altar.
The real ‘altar’ located at the center of the community.
There was a man standing there and the moment my eyes met his I couldn’t help but frown.
“…what.”
“Nice to meet you. You look nice. We’re old friends right?”
“What kind of trick is this?”
“Just kidding. Some people risk their lives just to stop by… It’s a bit disappointing. The law of causality in this world is still intact so there’s not much time. So I’ll get to the point quickly.”
There stood ‘me’.
Our Pope please stop this
