Somebody Stop the Pope – 227

Episode 227
5.
The group that showed up was Baekmyeonggyo as I had expected.
A group wearing white robes appears.
Our sect’s troops spread out throughout the Holy Land gathered in one place and soon war clouds began to gather within the Holy Land.
I led all my troops and marched towards the holy place.
And then right there I was able to see a face I had seen before.
The girl with golden hair.
She stepped forward alone leaving the followers of Baekmyeonggyo behind for a moment.
“Your Majesty I….”
“are you okay.”
Leo tried to step forward first but was stopped by raising his hand.
“You don’t look like you have any intention of fighting?”
The number of followers is approximately 50.
They were all armed but that did not mean they were showing any hostility.
“It’s been a long time Pope Kim Si-woo.”
The girl with golden hair the Archbishop of Baekmyeonggyo smiled at me and bowed her head.
Her red eyes shine.
An unpleasant divine power secretly emanated from those eyes.
An atmosphere that seems like it would captivate people.
However her divine power only spread slightly around and did not have any effect.
I looked at her for a long time without saying anything. Then I frowned.
What is Baek Myeong-gyo doing here?
“What are you planning?”
I asked directly.
Then the girl answered with a smile.

“I thought it would be polite to say hello since we were on the same boat.”
“Hanbae-ra… I heard that you escaped from South Korea went to Russia and then joined China. You were in Vladivostok right?”
Among the information obtained from the United States was information about Baek Myeong-gyo’s whereabouts.
The girl nodded slightly in response to my question.
“That’s what happened.”
“Then you must have been stuck in that cold place. What kind of wind blew and brought you all the way to China?”
“Because I couldn’t stand to watch the Purifier any longer. I think I told you that back then too.”
She brushed her white cassock across the floor and pointed behind her with her hand.
“We also brought relief supplies to give to the citizens of Shanghai.”
As soon as she said that dozens of vehicles soon entered the sanctuary.
The vehicles stopped in a temporary parking lot and the Baekmyeonggyo believers immediately moved in.
They unloaded relief supplies from the car in unison.
“I have no will to fight. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
I answered her with a chuckle at her shameless remark.
“The enemy of my enemy may be my enemy.”
“Is that so?”
“Why do you guys get to decide whether to fight or not? That’s for us to decide.”
This is our home ground.
The chances of us losing here are close to zero.
But the composure does not disappear from the girl’s face. She already knows very well that I will not be able to fight here.
“I don’t think Pope Kim Si-woo would do something so stupid.”
The girl said so and looked around.
Injured civilians.
Those suffering from disease.
Those who are still starving because they have not received their rations yet.
Each and every one of those citizens was a scar left on the city someone in need of help.
The method is truly vicious.
When a battle breaks out here it is these innocent people who ultimately suffer.
“And we don’t want them to get hurt either.”
“Why?”
“The Purifiers are those who seek chaos. They enjoy killing and want to ruin the world. But we are not. Our goal is to establish a new order in this world. And those poor creatures are part of this world too.”
“You still talk like a dog.”
If it is talent to package the words of wanting to reign over humans like that then it is talent.
I gave her my middle finger.
“Baekmyeonggyo is the enemy of our sect. That fact alone will not change. If this were not a holy place I would have eliminated you without fail.”
Personally I think that the Purifier and Baekmyeonggyo are essentially similar although their forms are different.
New order?

It is clear as day what fate awaits those who defy the new order these guys seek.
For now we’re taking out the purifiers but eventually these guys will become our worst enemies.
A clash of beliefs and convictions.
Because nothing smells bloodier than that.
The girl looked at me and smiled even more deeply.
“I would like to make a proposal. It is an offer that the person I serve is giving you through me.”
She summoned a small jewel from her hand.
A black jewel condensed with ominous divine power.
An ominous voice echoes from the jewel.
【Those who have reached divinity become one of us and join the new order. You who were born on Earth are worthy enough.】
I couldn’t help but laugh at those words.
And he moved his divine power to pull the black jewel that was in the girl’s hand.
Passs …
He grabbed the jewel and crushed it into powder. Then he spilled the powder onto the floor and said:
“Where did you hear that I attained divinity?”
“There is nothing they don’t know.”
“Listen carefully.”
I slowly approached the girl and extended my hand.
A gray divine power rose from my body and soon a similarly colored divine power flowed from the girl’s body as well.
Woof woof woof-.
As different divine forces collide the surrounding atmosphere begins to tremble.
I spoke quietly to the girl who still had a relaxed expression on her face.
“We don’t care whether you fight the Purifiers or not. But remember one thing.”
There’s an old saying that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
But that doesn’t apply to the Baekmyeonggyo guys.
As far as those guys are concerned the enemy of my enemy is just an enemy.
“Do not meet our troops on the battlefield. We will not join hands with you.”
“The Limen sect favors war.”
“no.”
I looked into the girl’s red eyes and said through gritted teeth.
“It’s not that we avoid war.”
I know that after the war with the Purifiers there will eventually be a war with these guys.
These guys can’t coexist.
That’s why in the end we had no choice but to fight.
“Just put down the relief supplies and get out right now.”
The girl nodded at my words.
“There is no such thing as a day robber.”
“That’s okay with bad guys.”
“We will meet again soon.”
The girl slowly turned around and walked back speaking in a soft voice.
“They are coming. The day will soon come when you will regret the choice you made today.”
“reflection.”
Purifier.
The Limen Church.
Baek Myeong-gyo.
The three-way battle between these three forces began in earnest.
6.
Shanghai quickly regained stability.
Thanks to that guy Gaoli the Chinese troops started to listen to my orders well and relief supplies were pouring in at a rapid pace through the two airports and Shanghai.
This was thanks to factories in Japan and South Korea running nonstop.
It’s been a week since our church advanced into Shanghai.
Eventually we had reclaimed more than half of the city.
The strength continued to grow as the Awakened who had been fighting against the rebels within Shanghai joined in.
That wasn’t all.
“A volunteer army to restore peace to mainland China?”
“Is it really right for mercenaries disguised as volunteers to get involved in a civil war in another country?”
“Some guilds in South Korea and Japan declare participation in the Chinese civil war.”
“The official spokesperson of the Blue House of the Republic of Korea said ‘Nothing has been decided yet. Legal action will be taken against guilds that participated in the Chinese civil war without our approval.’”
The Chinese government has been importing electricity from various countries by spending money it had been saving up.
The Chinese civil war was heading in the direction that the South Korean and Japanese governments had so feared.
As a church we had nothing to say.
It was only in name that we maintained peace but in reality if you look closely our religious group was the first South Korean citizen to intervene in the Chinese civil war.
In this situation if we criticize them it is no different from spitting while lying down.
“Let’s start the meeting.”
So eventually I was asked by the South Korean government to attend the meeting.
A meeting held at the former Blue House.
On the government side the President participated in person which was unusual along with the Minister of Justice and Minister of Personnel Management Yoo Seon-ho.
It was a very tight schedule that would have made it impossible for me to attend.
But it wasn’t really a problem for me because it was just a short walk through the Holy Land passage.
I looked around the conference room from my seat.
Inside the conference room there were representatives of large guilds including Choi the representative of the Goblin Guild and Seolhwa.
Familiar faces.
When the Jeon Gak-ryeon collapsed last time the representatives of the large guilds were replaced and at some point the former representatives returned as representatives.
“Representatives.”
The first one to bring up the subject was President Seo.
“I sent a separate official document but my basic position as president is simple. The Republic of Korea does not want to directly intervene in this Chinese civil war.”
Direct intervention simply put is military intervention.
A principle that the South Korean government has continued to uphold since the outbreak of the Chinese Civil War.
The justification is sufficient.
Because the Lost Lands were just beginning to be developed there was no room to send troops outside.
And among the representatives who heard that CEO Choi was the first to respond.
“The Chinese side is offering a price that is hard to refuse. At the same time they are offering various benefits such as the right to bid first for future dungeons and gates that will be created in China.”
The biggest condition that China with its vast land area can offer.
Gates and dungeons play a key role in the growth of Awakened players.
Originally those two were like key resources managed by the state.
Just looking at the rights to them being sold shows how dire the situation is in China.
“For now I’m satisfied with just the gates and dungeons that occur in the Lost Lands… but the level of the Awakened in South Korea has risen a lot. There are also a lot of complaints from small and medium-sized guilds and individual hunters.”
Mr. Choi’s point was very accurate.
In reality hunters below B-class who make up the majority of the Awakened Society currently have limited opportunities for growth.
This is because large guilds and the government monopolized most of the means.
“I heard that there are a lot of monsters running around in China right now as well as rebels. In this situation I think it would be… frankly inefficient to not send troops.”
“We feel the same way about that.”
President Seo nodded as if he agreed with Representative Choi’s words.
Then the other representatives began to add their comments one by one.
“It is difficult to be satisfied with just the lost land.”
“Hasn’t the frequency of gates and dungeons appearing decreased recently?”
“Please introduce a bill allowing the dispatch of volunteers.”
“It’s a great opportunity to expand your influence.”
Our large guild leaders are biting each other as if they had been waiting.
Even though you hit me once before greed is truly endless.
At that moment President Seo stared at me intently.
Only then did I realize why President Seo had called me to this place.
That expression on his face is as if President Seo is saying ‘Please Pope Kim Si-woo!’
“Ugh.”
I let out a soft sigh.
President Seo also seemed very eager to send someone but the only reason he called me in this situation was because of this.
“There is one way.”
As soon as I opened my mouth President Seo responded quickly.
“What is that Pope Kim Si-woo?”
“You can have the volunteers belong to the Limen Sect. The Limen Sect is currently carrying out a peacekeeping mission on the Chinese mainland.”
Instead there is one condition involved.
“As I am affiliated with the Limen Sect I will take command of the troops.”
Then the representatives looked embarrassed.
“that….”
“That’s a bit…”
The representatives are just full of greed.
I said to them slightly raising the corners of my lips.
“If you don’t like it then don’t say anything.”
Learned fear is the scariest thing of all.
The representatives couldn’t say anything more to me. They just did the math in their heads.
Was it about 10 minutes later?
“…Our guild agrees.”
Starting with one representative.
“Our guild too…..”
“Please take good care of me…”
The rest of the representatives reluctantly accepted my proposal.
I nodded with a happy expression.
“I cannot help but be happy as the Pope of the Limen Church to see so many peace-loving people here. Welcome brothers.”
This is a good thing since there was already a shortage of workers in Shanghai.
In this way we received a transfusion of new manpower.
If we do it well we might be able to swallow up even the Awakened members of large guilds?
I should speak to Archbishop Laparte separately.
Our Pope please stop this
