    Episode 199

    3.

The process for getting to Pyongyang was extremely simple.

I asked Minister Yoo Seon-ho and was able to head to Pyongyang the next day.

Pyongyang arrived straight away by helicopter.

I thought it would be a city full of monsters but when I arrived at Pyongyang it was different from what I expected.

“Nice to meet you. My name is Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol commanding the Pyongyang provisional garrison.”

A fairly large outpost with a temporary landing pad.

All around were soldiers in military uniforms and Awakened people belonging to the Ability Management Department walking around.

“I received a message in advance from Minister Yoo Seon-ho. We welcome your visit. It is an honor to have you Pope Kim Si-woo.”

Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol who welcomed me politely offered a handshake and I smiled as I shook his hand.

“Thank you for your hard work.”

“Our soldiers are doing the hard work.”

“I also served in the military so I know how hard it is.”

Looking around I noticed that most of the soldiers mobilized here were engineers.

Soldiers are working diligently to establish a base in Pyongyang following Kaesong.

The Kaesong outpost was merely a step toward establishing a foothold here.

I nodded and introduced him to my colleagues who had disembarked from the helicopter following me.

There are three colleagues I brought here today.

    Luna’s story and Ja-hyeon.

Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol greeted Luna and Seol-hwa politely and then shook hands with Ja-hyeon.

“I am happy to meet you the new irregular of the Republic of Korea Cheon Ja-hyeon.”

This morning there was extensive coverage of Ja-Hyeon.

“Breaking News Republic of Korea. Second Irregular.”

    “The new irregular Cheon Ja-hyeon!”

    “Irregular recognized by Kim Si-woo.”

“Will the government’s northward advance gain momentum?”

Naturally South Korea was in chaos.

    Another irregular after me.

If you think about the influence that irregulars have in society now it was only natural that the ripple effect would be large.

This is news that any South Korean would be excited about.

How many large guild scouts rushed in before we left the temple this morning.

    So what happened?

All of those scouts ran away as soon as they made eye contact with me.

“Nice to meet you Lieutenant General Kim Dae-cheol!”

“I look forward to working with you in the future.”

“I am the one who needs to take good care of you!”

Still it’s nice to see the spirit in them.

Thanks to Ja-Hyeon’s return I now have a lot less work to do and it’s basically a blessing in disguise.

Once the urgent matters are sorted out I will be able to enjoy more time with my family.

Until then you have to educate them very well.

So after greeting our group Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol said to me with a smile.

“I have secured the target location. I will guide you there myself. It is not too far from here.”

    “Yes let’s move.”

We began to move under the guidance of Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol.

As I passed by I received a lot of salutes from people.

The soldiers operating the construction equipment also paid respect to me.

“After Pope Kim Si-woo conquered the fortress located north of Hamheung the monsters began to escape.”

Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol began giving me a brief briefing on the current situation.

“Originally there were many monsters that lived near Pyongyang but in the past week most of them have been moving north.”

Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol said so and showed me a video.

The footage appears to have been taken from a reconnaissance helicopter.

In the video various types of monsters were running as if competing.

“It looks like they are fleeing without a commander.”

“Yes. Originally we had to consistently subdue the surrounding area once a week but no monster activity has been detected in the area for a week. Thanks to this the base construction work is progressing smoothly. The same goes for the road work.”

I’ve heard the story many times.

    Restoration of the Kaesong-Pyongyang Expressway.

It was expected that the construction would take a long time since the monsters had completely destroyed the important infrastructure but thanks to the large number of players who use magic being mobilized the construction speed is said to be surprisingly fast.

Japan also sent a significant number of magic players and the United States which was busy with the war on terrorism did the same.

Well it’s not like they’re really helping out out of kindness.

They probably hope that South Korea will quickly regain control of the northern region and intervene in China’s civil war.

    But so what?

It’s best to use it if it’s available.

This was a good thing for the South Korean government as it speeded up the work process.

“We also plan to simultaneously restore the port in the old Nampo area located west of Pyongyang.”

“This is the biggest construction project since the opening of Dimensions right?”

“Yes. Our military’s current priority is to secure control of this area before civilian workers come in.”

Still I can feel with my own body that South Korea is changing rapidly.

Although a huge amount of budget is being spent on the Northward Advance Operation the current government’s approval rating is skyrocketing.

It is also worthwhile for the government to feel confident and get things moving.

I nodded slowly and then spoke to Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol.

“I will also dispatch priests from the Limen Sect here. There may be an accident during construction.”

Looking around I noticed that there were quite a few soldiers with young faces.

I wanted to provide something for the soldiers who risk their lives working in dangerous areas.

In response to my words Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol bowed his head and expressed his gratitude.

“Thank you so much for thinking of our soldiers.”

“I should have taken care of it for you earlier but I feel sorry for that.”

Looking at this scenery many thoughts come to mind.

Even at this very moment there are countless people who are working hard in places I don’t know about.

Some for their country some for their friends and some for their families.

People who work hard silently even when no one notices.

I don’t mind doing something small for those people.

I smiled and waved at the soldiers who were saluting me but suddenly the soldiers started cheering.

    What is that?

“Fighting soldier brothers! Hey Seolhwa you should add some too.”

    “cheer up!”

Luna who was following behind me was giving all sorts of fan services to the soldiers including winks.

    I’m glad you like it.

Still we need to point out what needs to be pointed out.

    “Luna.”

    “Yes Your Majesty.”

“I don’t know about the story but I don’t think you should call me oppa… If you do that you’ll hit someone with a hammer.”

    “There’s no way I can’t do it.”

    anyway.

In such a welcoming atmosphere we finally…

    “Pope Kim Si-woo has arrived.”

    “Hey.”

I was able to reach my destination.

A huge pit dug haphazardly outside the base.

And in the middle of it there are black tentacles moving about.

“This is the pit discovered by the reconnaissance team around 4 o’clock this morning.”

    “He’s a hot guy.”

I nodded while listening to Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol’s explanation.

And after a while a message window appeared before my eyes.

[You have reached the quest starting point.]

[You begin to feel the ominous energy of the Abyss Dungeon.]

That was the entrance to the Abyss Dungeon our destination for today.

    4.

“Then I wish you good luck.”

Brigadier General Kim Dae-cheol who guided us here greeted us politely until the end and then stepped back with his soldiers.

From here on it’s our turn.

Luna said throwing a rock at the writhing black tentacle.

    “You look so unpleasant.”

    “sympathy.”

It’s not easy to arouse disgust with just visuals.

I frowned as I watched the black tentacles writhing in the pit.

I would have died happy if you brought Raphael.

Should I say it’s fortunate that Raphael is away for a moment today saying he has some kind of once-in-a-lifetime experiment to do?

If it were him he would be measuring while drooling.

“But how do I get in there?”

Once you get here the updated quest content is as follows:

    [Labyrinth of the Faceless]

    ●Type: Sub – DLC

●Description: You have discovered an Abyss Dungeon that was once created in a place called <Pyongyang>. There may be something here that will raise your level.

    ●Completion Conditions: Clear <Labyrinth of the Faceless>.

    ●Reward: 30000 Holy Points <Random Holy Relic>

*Warning: This quest is only available to those who have reached a certain level of rank. If you do not complete this quest a terrible disaster may occur.

We’ve arrived at the right destination but the entrance is a bit unfriendly.

There doesn’t seem to be anything particularly unusual about it other than the black tentacles.

Do I have to remove that tentacle to get in?

When we say Abyss Dungeon we mean that it is connected to another world but those black tentacles definitely do not exist on Earth.

The ancient gods of Earth that we have seen so far.

I could feel the unpleasant divine power that I had felt from them.

I glanced at the tentacle and rolled my head for a moment.

There is said to be an entrance to the Abyss Dungeon somewhere around here but I can’t see the entrance anywhere.

If that’s the case then it seems like the tentacles and the entrance have something to do with it and there’s a really good way to do it.

    Whoosh whoosh.

He immediately put on his gauntlet and lit the torch.

Then Luna who was watching the tentacles from the side asked.

“Your Majesty what are you doing?”

    “I have to try something.”

I thought that if I moved the tentacle away the door would be revealed so I immediately fired a fireball at the black tentacle.

    Kwaaaaaaaang-!

A pure white fireball collided with a black tentacle causing a huge explosion.

An explosion so powerful that it would have reduced any ordinary substance to ashes.

But the result was less than I expected.

    Rrrrrrrrr.

The black tentacles actually become thicker.

I’ve felt this before but it certainly seems like my divine power isn’t very effective against that unpleasant divine power.

    Black tentacles still intact.

Seol-hwa who was watching the scene from the side spoke while drawing out her magical power.

    “Brother let me try it.”

“Would you like to try it?”

Seolhwa’s skills have improved significantly recently.

Seolhwa immediately created dozens of ice spears and mercilessly thrust them towards the black tentacles.

But the tentacles still look intact.

Following this Ja-Hyeon also summoned a sword and blasted it with sword energy but it did not deal any significant damage to the tentacles.

    “It’s sturdy.”

It seems impossible to do it from a distance.

As I stroked my chin while looking at the tentacle Seolhwa looked at me and said.

“It’s similar to the tentacle I saw before but you tore it off with your hands that time.”

    “That’s right.”

    “It won’t work this time?”

“The divine power is much stronger now than it was then. Our compatibility isn’t that good to begin with… Should I tear it apart with my own hands like you said?”

At that time Ja-Hyeon gave his opinion.

“Brother removing the tentacles may not be the right answer.”

    “huh?”

“It could be something like an automatic door. If you approach with those tentacles something might change. Just like some of the organoids change shape when you approach them wouldn’t that be the case?”

If you call it an organ transplant it’s a trap and a bit of a stretch but it’s a pretty plausible inference.

“So what you’re saying is that it could be an automatic door?”

“If even the power of the strongest brother on Earth couldn’t destroy it then it’s plausible enough…”

Meanwhile Ja-Hyeon never forgets to give Abu.

Apart from the flattery it was a pretty plausible inference.

I walked behind Ja-Hyeon with a sly smile.

    “It certainly sounds plausible.”

“Is that so? But why are you behind me….”

“I should check it out at least once.”

    “yes?”

    Bam.

I gently pushed Ja-hyeon’s back and she looked at me with her eyes wide open.

But that was only for a moment.

Ja-Hyeon’s body was eventually pulled by gravity and began to fall towards the black tentacles.

    “Hey you little shit-.”

Before Ja-Hyeon could even finish cursing at me.

    Paaaa …

Black light emitted from the black tentacles and engulfed Ja-Hyeon’s body.

I nodded as I looked at the sight.

“I think this is the right way to go. Let’s follow along.”

    “Your Majesty.”

    “huh.”

I think it was a good idea to bring Ja-hyeon.

As expected a sturdy irregular is the best choice for the vanguard.

I jumped lightly towards the tentacles along with the rest of my colleagues.

    Our Pope please stop this
