    Episode 179

    5.

After handing over the trash to Director Kim I headed to the Busan branch of the Goblin Guild where Leo was conducting some sort of ‘education’ with the victims.

And there Leo could meet his newly minted ‘fanatics’.

    “Your Holiness!”

“Please forgive me for the wrong paths I took in the past!”

“For us there is only Limen!”

“Please take this sinner and let him burn for the glory of Limen!”

    People I’ve never seen before.

But within them their faith in Limen truly burned like a fire.

What on earth did Leo pour on these people?

In addition Eun-taek Lee who was standing next to Leo was looking at me with a very proud expression.

It was as if they were asking for praise.

    “Welcome Your Majesty.”

Leo approached me holding a Bible in one hand.

I looked back and forth between Leo and the fanatics then sighed and said.

    “What were you doing?”

“I was guiding the poor people who had gone astray to the right path.”

    “okay?”

    “yes.”

As the Archbishop of the Limen Church it is only natural that he should show the right path.

But you know that’s the right way.

“I will pursue Limen’s enemies to the ends of hell and annihilate them!”

“I will burn my whole body to make sure that others never make the same mistakes as we did!”

    “Limen give me your life!”

    “Glory to Limen!”

Is it really the right thing to do to cry out so desperately?

    I’m feeling dizzy.

Even the heresy inquisitors currently being trained by our church are a bit burdensome but these people seem to be taking it a step further.

The madness of the members of Lee Eop-juk?

Their madness may seem fake compared to the madness these people are displaying now.

As I was looking at them and at a loss for words Leo came up to me and spoke in a quiet voice.

“Even though they were on the wrong path their faith in Limen was unwavering. I just helped them find the right direction.”

Leo took off his monocle and put it in his pocket. He smiled a rare smile.

“There is a Korean proverb that says ‘Those who have tried meat eat a lot.’”

“You seem to know proverbs better than I a Korean as you are an Edenite.”

“I check it out often on TreeWiki.”

“Everyone else is leaving so why does that proverb come from here?”

Then Leo answered as if it was obvious.

“The same goes for heresy. I think that only those who have fallen for heresy once can truly understand heresy.”

    “…so?”

“I will formally suggest to Your Majesty that they be enrolled in the Inquisitor training course.”

It was a truly unexpected change of thinking.

If it were Leo he would have taken those who had fallen into heresy straight to the temple’s basement and punished them for their sins but who would have thought that he would have come up with a change of perspective in such a place?

And what’s even more surprising is this.

    “…That sounds plausible?”

The fact is that I too fell for Leo’s logic.

I nodded rubbing my chin with my hand.

“It seems like some of them were brainwashed. Have you resolved that issue?”

“I personally washed the brainwashed believers’ entire bodies with my divine power. I also thoroughly removed the magical powers that had penetrated their brains with my divine power. You don’t have to worry about that part.”

Leo continued speaking in a more aggressive voice than ever.

“Your Majesty I believe that the more Inquisitors we have the better. Imagine those trained being spread out across the country and even the world.”

I imagined what it would look like just like Leo said.

Hundreds of Inquisitors travel the world trained directly by Leo and Archbishop Laparte.

Just imagining the sight was… dizzying.

“Among the major bush commodities in South Korea there are probably fanatics of the Limen cult.”

“Isn’t this an era where information is more important than ever? The Inquisitors who are spread out across the world will be tasked with investigating information from various places in addition to finding heresy. As in Eden the Inquisitors can function as the Church’s global intelligence organization. And also…”

    “sun.”

“More and more diverse missions… Yes?”

“Do it. It’s better to do it where I can see it than to do it where I can’t see it.”

Leo also had a history of creating a fanatic group called Liebjuk without my permission.

There’s no way a guy like that wouldn’t do something if you told him not to when he’s so passionate about it.

That’s just how human psychology is.

If you tell me not to do something I feel like I want to do it more.

“But how many of those people are awakened?”

“The total number is 42. Of them five are Awakened.”

    “What’s the level?”

“It is as Your Majesty expected.”

If you’re brainwashed to the point of being brainwashed you’re not a high-level awakened person. And you probably won’t be fooled by low-level methods like drugs.

    I nodded sighing.

“I feel like I came to resolve the case and ended up leaving with a lump in my throat.”

“That is not possible. Your Majesty they are a great blessing to the religious order.”

    “…You’ll know when you see.”

    An inquisitor of heretical origin.

    It’s strange and yet plausible.

I have a feeling that at least one heresy will be caught properly.

I smiled bitterly as I looked at the prospective inquisitors who continued to shout at me.

I promised myself to be careful of fanatics but it seems the world doesn’t go my way.

By the way there seems to be something strange about Mr. Lee Eun-taek’s expression since a while ago.

Why are you looking at those fanatics with such a loving expression?

Lee Eun-taek spoke in a bright voice perhaps aware of my gaze.

“I feel like I made the right choice in choosing the path of the Inquisitor.”

    “…suddenly?”

“What a proud scene! The heretics I found repent and decide to give everything for Limen! Just seeing it makes my heart burst. I sincerely thank His Holiness and Limen for giving me a new meaning in life…”

I shook my head as I heard those words.

No matter how I look at it there is nothing normal around me.

Can the Limen Church continue like this?

    6.

After a hard day I returned to the temple.

I came back first by helicopter and Leo and Lee Eun-taek were coming back by KTX with new believers.

On my way back I saw that reporters were setting up camp outside the Holy Land.

Since it is impossible to set up camp inside the Holy Land without permission from our church we are waiting at the entrance as a second-best option.

Maybe it’s because I took care of three congressmen today.

The issue regarding the reporters will be resolved by itself if you leak the source to reporter Seo Tae-ho.

Recently most of our church’s media responses have been made through reporter Seo Tae-ho.

It’s not bad for me to deal with reporters myself but I was a little tired today dealing with reporters.

    “Hello Pope!”

The first person to welcome me as I got off the helicopter was none other than Raphael.

Raphael seemed to have been doing something just a moment ago as there were sparkling drones flying around him.

    “What were you doing?”

“Ah! It seems that the air defense system around the Holy Land is lacking so I installed an air defense system in the mine. Don’t you have to earn your keep? I’ve roughly built an air defense system by doing various things including divine punishment. Just like last time enemies might appear right above the Holy Land.”

Raphael who finds work to do on his own even though he wasn’t asked to do it.

He seemed to have a strong workaholic streak.

At first I felt a bit uneasy because it seemed like I was bringing a crazy person but he was a person who paid more than his fair share of the food.

“I heard that you went down and had a good time.”

“When did you hear that news?”

“David said to me while I was working. It’s so much fun to do something like that by yourself. I wish you had taken me along.”

    “Then it’s a diplomatic issue?”

    “Oh is that so? Haha!”

    American irregulars threaten Korean politicians.

It’s an article title that looks delicious at first glance.

Raphael burst into a cool laugh.

“I have been waiting for the Pope to return. The others are probably waiting in the Pope’s office. Let’s go together.”

“I was about to leave work.”

    “Something came up.”

    Oh what’s going on now?

I was feeling good about leaving work but then I heard something came up and my stress started boiling over again.

I’d be done with just cleaning up the corrupt politicians for today but they really won’t leave me alone.

When on earth will I ever be able to enjoy some peaceful rest?

I let out a sigh that made the floor sag. Then I entered the temple office with Raphael.

    “Welcome Your Majesty.”

Inside the office there are Archbishop Lapart Luna Oh Jun-woo Choi the representative of the Goblin Guild and Sulhwa Min-su.

Our church leaders and representatives of friendly forces were gathered in one place.

    It looks like something happened.

“Are you all gathering here at this late hour to gossip about me? I’m embarrassed that you’ve all gathered here without even contacting me.”

    I feel it intuitively.

    Something tiring must have happened.

I sat down in the seat they had left empty for me and said with a relieved look on my face.

    “Let’s get started.”

    “yes!”

The first to react to my voice was Raphael.

Raphael turned on the TV and immediately started playing a video.

    Video recorded in high quality.

In the video high-level undead including Dullahan were moving diligently against the backdrop of a tall fortress.

“I took pictures of the fortress of the dead that the Pope told me about. It is also the location where a powerful dimensional resonance occurred three hours ago.”

    It was 3 hours ago.

It was around the time when I was really lusting after high-ranking officials.

“As soon as we detected the dimensional resonance phenomenon through the observation device we sent out a reconnaissance drone. The footage you are seeing was captured by that drone.”

Perhaps because it was a filming drone that Raphael himself modified the image quality was really clear.

It was to the point where one could even see how many strands of hair were attached to the skull that Durahan was holding.

The ‘Fortress of the Dead’ that I heard about from the Dark Elf Elder.

This place had been left alone for a while as it was not yet included in the operational plan but it seemed like a problem had occurred here.

The video scanned the entire fortress and then went straight to the spot where the problem occurred.

A huge red gate created on top of the fortress.

It was a very unusual color considering that the gate was usually purple.

At first glance it seems closer to scarlet.

But it’s unlikely that these busy people would be gathered together just because of their unusual colors.

    “The highlight starts now.”

The mood of the video began to change rapidly with Raphael’s comments.

    KWAWWWWWW!

Two huge monsters leapt out of the red gate and immediately began to attack the fortress.

Monsters covered in black sticky mucus.

The undead immediately began to counterattack.

A fairly large-scale attack followed led by Liches and Death Knights.

However their attacks did not seem to cause much damage to the monsters.

At best it only managed to peel off a little of the slime that covered the monsters but it wasn’t a fatal blow.

    Gurrrrrrrr.

The slime that flows out of the monsters’ bodies devours the undead.

All the undead present were instantly consumed by the slime.

There is a moment of eerily ominous silence.

How much time has passed like that?

The undead emerged again from the slime that had covered the entire fortress.

The state of the resurrected undead was somewhat different from before.

The appearance of black mucus being smeared all over the body.

The sight of them rushing at the giant monsters with hostility just a moment ago was already nowhere to be seen.

Whether it’s a Lich or a Death Knight.

The Immortal Legion began to form an orderly formation in front of the two giant monsters.

And then a moment later one of the giant monsters opened its mouth.

The red energy gathered in the mouth was shot towards the drone.

    Chijijijijijik-.

    The video ended with that.

Only then did I realize what those monsters were.

As far as I know there is only one species that focuses its energy into its mouth and shoots it out.

    Dragon.

At first it was hard to tell because it was covered in black mucus but at the end it was definitely breath.

The moment I realized that a new message window appeared before my eyes.

“If I keep doing this I’ll die from overwork.”

“I remember what His Majesty said before. People don’t die easily.”

    “Luna.”

    “Yes Your Majesty.”

“Can you shut up for 10 minutes?”

When do I really get a break?

Do you rest when you die?

    Our Pope please stop this
