Somebody Stop the Pope – 16
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 16
3.
The long and tumultuous night passed and the morning dawned without fail.
The evacuation order that had been issued for our neighborhood has already been lifted.
Because I had already neatly erased any trace of the gate.
Our family who spent the night at the Ability Management Department’s house was only able to return home at lunchtime the next day.
Let me just list the biggest changes that happened last night:
[Limen Church]
●Main God: The Primordial Goddess – Limen
●Original dimension: Eden
●Number of followers: 16422
-Possession characteristics-
<Compassion (慈愛) Lv.1>
-Subordinate Group-
None applicable
★Sacred points held: 2500 points
*Your denomination is currently gaining fame at a rapid pace.
**However fame has not yet been translated into faith. There is a need to spread the doctrine in order to maintain the faith of the current believers and to carry out effective missionary work.
The number of believers has increased noticeably.
Of course 20000 people may seem like a very small number considering that my fame has spread not only nationwide but all over the world but if you think about it it was actually a very natural result.
Even if you just look at the reactions on the Internet through smartphones right now it is the same.
“Last time you sold a disaster-level returner and an S-class hunter to Japan as a set and now you’re even bringing in a fake cult leader’s kid lol.”
“Now we can’t even say anything Chinese lol. It’s obvious at first glance that it’s fake but they really went too far.”
“But doesn’t that mean that if you subdue the undead type gate alone it should be at least S-class?”
“It must have been secretly assisted by government officials. It smells really bad.”
“Honestly I don’t know because I only saw it once… But doesn’t that guy look like a cult leader?”

“He just looks like Kim Jung-hoon rather than a cult leader.”
“Kim Jung Hoon is a NG”
“The bully who bullied me during my school days ㅠㅠ”
“In-wook. Does your brother look like a gangster?”
I asked Inwook who was watching the internet reactions next to me.
Inwook thought for a moment at my question then shrugged his shoulders and answered.
“Hmm… You don’t seem like a religious person do you?”
“No do I look like a punk?”
“It seems like there is no sense of distance. Should I say that I don’t feel the sacredness that is typical of religious people?”
Look at this kid.
He’s not even answering until the end.
It is correct to accept that neither negation nor affirmation means affirmation.
Inwook hesitated perhaps concerned about his own answer just now and then reluctantly answered.
“Honestly other than the wings sprouting from your back I didn’t really feel like you were that holy. If you spread your wings a few more times wouldn’t your followers increase a lot?”
“Can you do that as you please?”
“…Can’t you do as you please?”
“It’s true that you can do whatever you want but you shouldn’t do whatever you want.”
“whoever?”
“Yes. A referee-like guy.”
<Causality Compliance Examination> that I was able to confirm while solving last night’s Chaos Gate.
I still haven’t figured it out exactly but if I recall correctly it seemed like the concept was that if I created a miracle above a certain level the <Law of Causality> would immediately go into review.
I’m not sure what exactly would happen if you failed that test but one thing is for sure there would be a clear penalty.
As Limen had warned it also meant that in certain situations <Causality> could forcibly limit my power.
It seemed like we would need to be careful for the time being.
Yesterday <The Law of Cause and Effect> took my side first but there is no guarantee that it will always be on my side.
anyway.
Until I hear more from Limen I plan to hold off on using large-scale divine skills like <Wings of Purification> for the time being.
“You’re more indifferent than I thought. Don’t you feel wronged that people don’t believe you?”
“Well.”
I answered Inwook’s question with a sly smile.
“That’s just how people are. You can’t believe something until you see it with your own eyes. Even if you were to see someone you’ve never met before at a press conference and talk about a religion you’ve never heard of before would you believe it?”
“Isn’t this certified by the government?”
“That’s just a guarantee that I’m an ‘irregular’ person not a guarantee for the religious order.”
If I had pressed hard enough I could have even gotten official recognition of the church.
But no matter how you think about it it’s a deal with nothing to gain.
Even if the government were to recognize it as an official religion that would not be enough to elicit faith where it does not exist.
Moreover we end up in a situation where we owe the government a debt of gratitude even though we haven’t gained much from it.

Even if you look at it roughly it is a losing business.
It would have been a much wiser choice to compromise by giving the government what it needs to give and being considerate of each other.
“Still this isn’t a bad start. It’s actually better than I expected.”
As I said that the DLC store opened in front of me.
Then soon new items updated overnight greeted me.
[Items in the DLC store have been updated.]
The DLC store has also changed quite a bit overnight.
The number of items that originally only had two has increased and among them the two items with stars caught my eye first.
[Currently available items]

●Purchase cost: 1500DP
“Hmm.”
These are all things I needed.
Starting with the <Baptism> trait that can awaken ordinary people into players and above all the <Missionary> position.
<Missionary> was much more urgent to me than <Inquisitor> who was updated in the store last time.
Fame is not the only thing needed to expand the influence of the religious order.
If a religious group only needs fame then how is it any different from a fan club?
Doctrine is the identity of a denomination.
And the missionaries who spread that doctrine are the ones who play the most important role in expanding the church.
Originally it would have been right for the Pope to personally spread the doctrine.
“How can you do something you don’t know?”
To be honest I don’t really know a thing about doctrine.
I gave victory speeches once in a while but all the sermons were given by the bishops under me.
In Eden there were beings like them who supported the religious foundation of the church but they are not here.
A denomination that can’t even preach doctrine properly.
Even the pseudo-religious who get cursed at have doctrines.
But the problem here is the condition of the <missionary>.
Is there really anyone among the Earthlings who possesses <Doctrine Interpretation Lv.10>?
That was when I was looking at the items in the DLC store with a serious expression on my face.
[As the number of believers on Earth increases the range of causality allowed to your Lord increases.]
[Your Lord is greatly pleased and gives an <oracle>!]
As soon as a new message appeared before my eyes a familiar voice rang in my ears.
“Can you hear me Siwoo?”
It was Limen’s voice.
4.
While talking to Limen I went outside for a moment thinking that I might wake up Siyeon who was taking a nap.
『I came out and talked to my younger brother because I was afraid he would wake up… Siwoo is such a kind older brother. He’s not that kind to me though.』
“You seem to have a lot of free time this time judging by the way you’re even joking around.”
『Well this is just a trust. About 15 minutes in Earth time? It would have been difficult last time but now I have followers here who believe in me.』
I walked forward slowly listening to Limen’s voice.
There were quite a few locals walking around but they just quietly passed me by.
Is it because I’m wearing casual clothes?
I was worried that I would get annoyed if I went outside but fortunately my worries seem to have subsided so far.
“Phew.”
“Why are you laughing all of a sudden?”
“It’s funny how you worry about what people will think of you if they recognize you just because you held a press conference once. I guess that’s why you’re so scared of celebrity disease.”
『Celebrity disease? Is this a disease that I need to cure?』
“…There is something like that. By the way what’s going on?”
『I think I need to give Siwoo some help in running the church on Earth. Siwoo doesn’t really have any talent for that does he?』
I felt this way for 10 years in Eden but Limen has a delicate side.
Whenever I had a hard time or had a difficult time he always took care of me like this.
I answered with a snicker at Limen’s voice.
“There are many experts who are better than me so why should I step forward? That’s just how the Pope is. He leaves everything up to the workers and occasionally talks to them.”
“You should have learned some doctrine from other priests.”
“How about you teach me the doctrine now?”
Limen answered my words in a troubled tone.
“Sorry. Actually I don’t know much about the doctrine either.”
“You didn’t make it?”
『I personally taught the first pope… but what I taught back then was not doctrine but rather what I wanted my followers to do. After that they interpreted and developed it on their own. I thought it was a very happy thing so I just left it alone.』
If they had made it so that there was no room for interpretation from the beginning this wouldn’t have happened.
But considering Limen’s personality it’s a plausible story.
So I couldn’t help but agree with her words. Still it didn’t seem like the worst case scenario.
“Judging by your excited voice I guess you have a solution.”
“Did you get teased?”
“It’s stranger if it doesn’t show.”
“I feel a little embarrassed because it feels like Siwoo is looking into my mind. That’s right. I’ve come up with a solution. I can’t let Siwoo suffer alone.”
It’s cute.
Okay let’s go and have a look.
I nodded with a smirk.
“I wonder what the solution is.”
『I just made a deal with your dimension’s main system. It passed the causality suitability test and will appear before your eyes soon.』
As Limen said a new message window appeared before my eyes after a while.
[When purchasing the special position <Missionary> you can spend an additional 1000 Divinity Points to dispatch 1 <Missionary> from <Dimension: Eden>.]
I blinked several times as I checked the message window that had popped up before my eyes.
So if this message window I’m seeing right now is not wrong.
“You’re bringing a missionary from Eden?”
『Yeah! It’s a shame that I can only bring one person for now.』
“Are you saying that you will kidnap a priest to Earth just like you kidnapped me to Eden?”
The person who kidnapped me to Eden means that this time he will kidnap me from Eden to Earth.
At my words Limen protested as if he was being unfairly treated.
『In Siwoo’s case it was closer to kidnapping…』
“You’re a habitual kidnapper.”
『But this time it really is unfair! I mean you really chose me from among the people who gathered voluntarily?』
…Pull it out?
“You’ve already decided?”
“Of course. If Siwoo agrees we can come through the Chaos Gate tomorrow.”
No it’s not like it’s a rocket delivery it’s like a missionary crossing the dimension by special delivery the next day.
But here I had no choice.
This is not the time to be picky about whether it’s cold or hot rice.
“I buy it.”
Without thinking too much I immediately opened the DLC store and purchased the <Missionary> position.
Then a message window immediately appeared before my eyes.
[You have purchased the special position <Missionary> by spending 2500 Divine Points!]
[<The First Missionary> will cross the dimension at the Pope’s call.]
[Check the coordinates of the designated <Chaos Gate>.]
right.
You didn’t ask the most important thing.
“So who is the person coming over? Of course it’s someone I know.”
Limen answered my question in a voice that sounded like he was dying of joy.
“A gift isn’t much fun if you know what’s inside before receiving it. There has to be some fun in opening the gift.”
“Who taught you that?”
“Who is it?”
…I guess it’s my karma.
What kind of guy is coming to Earth?
Our Pope please stop this
