    Episode 156

    50. Mithril Rush

    1.

    Mithril rush.

A word referring to the phenomenon of a large number of Awakened people flocking to the Lost Lands after the restrictions on the Lost Lands were lifted thanks to protests by small and medium-sized guilds.

The drastic decrease in the number of dungeons and gates created throughout Korea also had a major impact on the phenomenon known as the ‘Mithril Rush’.

It was as if the system governing the Earth was encouraging South Korea to advance north as the frequency of dungeons and gates that would pop up here and there during normal times had noticeably decreased.

Awakened ones are beings who seek growth and profit through dungeons and gates.

It was only natural that their gaze would turn to the lost land.

‘This is your last chance to join a large guild. If you achieve success here you can use it as your spec. If not you can just hit the jackpot with one by-product and graduate.’

    B-class hunter Son Si-won.

Even if you only become a B-class hunter you will be treated well enough to look down on office workers but human greed is endless.

Son Si-won came here to take advantage of this opportunity to elevate his position to the next level.

‘Although the process itself was a bit shaky…’

Son Si-won looked at the group of about twenty people around him with a trembling expression.

While large guilds had the ability to explore the Lost Lands on their own it was a different story for small and medium-sized guilds or freelancers.

A land where dangerous elements are placed everywhere.

In a situation where they could easily give up their lives they had only one choice.

    Joint exploration.

The hunter community in South Korea was full of stories of people looking for a party to explore the Lost Land with so it was easy to guess how much interest there was in this place.

“Mr. Son Si-won. Why are you so nervous?”

As Son Si-won was looking around with wary eyes a woman approached him with a smile.

    I heard her name before.

    Rapeseed.

A class A hunter who uses a bow.

She was one of the four people leading this joint exploration and she was a charming woman with a bright smile.

“Because it’s a lost land I can’t help but feel nervous.”

“You must be worried. We’re going to be dealing with a small group of goblins in a cave today so you don’t need to worry too much. We’ve already caught a lot of these in the south right? And you’ve come with a lot of equipment. This is probably a new item from the Yooseon Group.”

Yuchaehwa said as she lightly touched the hunter-specific armor that Son Siwon was wearing.

A new product that maximizes defense through magical power after purifying the leather of a demon.

It was an ambitious piece of equipment released by the Yuseon Group and was expensive costing a whopping 1 billion won.

It was also equipment that Son Si-won purchased with great determination from the workshop of Yuseon Group which only accepts custom orders.

‘You have an eye for seeing.’

    Son Si-won felt secretly happy.

“I got one to commemorate my entry into the Lost Lands this time. After all isn’t our job all about equipment?”

“I guess you have a lot of money?”

“I tend to be bold when it comes to investing. I even brought the holy water of the Limen Church.”

‘Even though it’s the lowest level.’

I used up all the money I had saved up for this expedition but it didn’t really matter.

Because you can just blow up one big thing and go back.

“The holy water of the Limen Church! I heard it’s really hard to get… Where did you buy it?”

“I have an acquaintance. I asked him for it.”

It was a holy water that I had gotten from the black market but I didn’t really want to tell this woman that fact.

Son Si-won straightened his shoulders with a confident smile and Yu Chae-hwa nodded her head in admiration as she looked at Son Si-won.

    “Wow that’s amazing!”

“Even though I look like this I’ve been a hunter for four years so I have a lot of acquaintances here and there. Oh you said Chae-hwa was an A-class hunter right? When I get back should I connect you with someone from a large guild? I have some acquaintances there…”

“Ah! I appreciate the kindness. I don’t like to belong anywhere. I just prefer hanging out with people I like.”

    “I see.”

He gave a vague answer glancing over her body.

Her beautiful body was revealed through the tight armor and that body combined with Yu Chae-hwa’s beauty made people keep looking at her.

Are you conscious of his gaze?

Yu Chae-hwa said with a slightly reddened expression.

“I think I’m going to owe you a lot today. That’s why I came to say hello in advance.”

“Just trust me. I will stand strong and support you from the front.”

Maybe something good will happen after the raid ends today.

There were quite a few hunters who made eye contact during the raid.

Son Si-won smiled at Yu Chae-hwa.

So Son Si-won walked to his destination while talking to Yu Chae-hwa and before he knew it they had arrived at their destination.

A small cave located in a mountain.

Upon arriving at the destination the man who was acting as the leader of this expedition spoke to the team.

“This is a cave inhabited by goblins of at most C-class. Since this expedition team consists of only B-class hunters and above we will split into groups of two to expedite the expedition.”

A method used to quickly clear low-level dungeons.

The expedition team members including Son Si-won accepted the method without any doubt and Son Si-won entered the cave with Yu Chae-hwa.

And soon dozens of passageways appeared before his eyes.

A complex structure that was clearly dug by goblins.

Son Si-won took out his sword and shield and walked forward confidently.

“Chae-hwa just follow me. I’ll take the lead.”

    “great.”

But no matter how far I walked the goblin did not appear. Rather the smell of blood only grew stronger as I went further inside.

How long did it take to walk like that?

After about 20 minutes of exploration Yu Chae-hwa who had been standing behind him quietly walked forward.

“Chae-hwa. The road ahead is dangerous…”

“It’s really easy to prey on a greedy person. Do you know why Siwon?”

    “…yes?”

“When humans are consumed by greed they cannot see their surroundings. Should we say that their ability to judge situations declines?”

She illuminated one side of the cave with the magic light she was holding muttering something incomprehensible.

    And at that moment

    “Whoooosh.”

Son Si-won couldn’t help but gag without realizing it.

Because in the place where the oil painting was lit there were already five badly mutilated corpses piled up.

And what was even more surprising was that

“Why is everyone working so hard to hunt monsters? Isn’t it much easier to just hunt and steal from the worms?”

It was a scene where Yu Chae-hwa approached the corpse pulled out the dagger that was stuck in the corpse and smiled brightly.

[You have been exposed to the active skill <Murderous Lv. 14>! You cannot resist it with your magic power.]

    I couldn’t move.

I feel like my mind has gone blank.

My legs began to shake and my arms and legs wouldn’t listen to me.

The sticky magical power flowing from the rape blossoms was binding his body.

    “Ms. Chae Chae-hwa?”

“They all know that their lives are precious so they wear expensive equipment. This is a very good reward. And the method of stealing the goods is simple. Just take them to China through the smuggling ship prepared on the shore and you’re done!”

Yu Chae-hwa who had reached Son Si-won without realizing it stroked his face with her slender left hand.

“But since our Siwon brought expensive equipment I’ll only stab him 10 times as a reward. Normally it takes about 50 stabs to kill someone but this is a big concession on my part.”

    Yuchaehwa’s breathing became rapid.

    An expression clearly showing excitement.

Yuchaehwa licked the dagger she was holding in her right hand with her tongue her face filled with emotion.

A typical tactic used by villains is to lure victims into a dungeon and pretend to die during the subjugation.

Son Si-won tried to struggle to escape this situation but everything was stopped by a powerful magical force.

    ‘Please live….’

When the dagger that Yuchaehwa had thrust was about to pierce his stomach

    Wood thud thud.

    “Kkiyaaaaak!”

Her shoulder twisted strangely and a scream soon escaped her lips.

    And after a while.

A man walked out from behind and said

“Yoo Seon-yeong. Age 31. 48 murders… Where on earth have you been hiding and why are you coming out now? Anyway if we leave you alone you’ll definitely cause trouble. I told you we have to make an example of you so that you’ll come to your senses right? You damn bastards.”

A man in black priest’s robes.

    Son Si-won knew his name.

As soon as he appeared the magic that had been blocking Son Si-won’s mouth was released and Son Si-won called the man’s name in a voice that seemed to have lost his soul.

    “Kim… Siwoo?”

At Son Si-won’s voice the man glanced at him. Then he smiled brightly and waved his hand.

“Ah! You know me. Go outside for now. The people from the Ability Management Department will be there.”

“What on earth is this place….”

    “How did you come here?”

    Wood thud thud.

Kim Si-woo folded Yu Seon-yeong or rather the rape flower in half and threw it on the floor. Then he smiled gently at Son Si-won and finished his speech.

“It’s been a while since I’ve come to tell you some good news.”

    2.

Regular health checkups are important to detect cancer.

This is because cancer cells multiply rapidly without people noticing.

    The same goes for villains.

These fucking bastards need to be tracked down and destroyed periodically to keep their numbers down.

“This is why greed is the problem.”

I nodded as I herded nine villains into a large cave where the goblin chieftain once resided.

It’s already been two weeks since general hunters were allowed access to the Lost Lands.

Wherever human greed gathers there is always plenty to eat.

And since there is a lot to eat all kinds of bugs tend to swarm in.

    Just like these villain kids.

“The bodies of all the victims have been recovered.”

“How many were there in total?”

    “It’s District 34.”

“I almost added 12 more today. Thank you for your hard work Director Kim.”

“…No. It was our job to do but I feel bad that we caused trouble instead.”

“How can your job be my job when it comes to exterminating bugs? If there is any fault it must be the fault of the higher-ups who gave permission.”

Although it was possible for ordinary hunters to enter the Lost Lands that did not mean they could come and go completely freely.

It is still illegal to enter without permission from the Ability Management Department.

However when it comes to villains being installed it usually comes down to one of two things.

Either these guys smuggled themselves here by sea or bribed officials to get permission.

    Neither of them was pleasant.

    “Director Kim.”

    “yes.”

“Since there was a request for cooperation from the government I think it is safe to assume that this is a situation where the immunity clause is triggered?”

Director Kim slurred at my question. Then he slowly nodded.

    “That’s true but…..”

“Oh I didn’t say anything about killing them. I just meant to take one of them with me. You see that guy over there with the drawing on his face? He’s their leader.”

    “How about that?”

“He has committed the most sins. Usually that kind of guy is the leader.”

The leader of the bad guys is the baddest of the bad guys.

It’s primitive but it’s the most effective logic.

After hearing what I said Director Kim gestured to the subordinate next to him and the agents from the Ability Management Department moved quickly.

Certainly <Will to Destruction> is effective when dealing with villains.

It’s so convenient because the objects of separation are clearly visible. It’s also a skill that is used much more on Earth than in Eden.

“But Pope Kim Si-woo. Are you thinking of taking the lives of the remaining villains?”

“Director Kim. I am the Pope. How could I hand down such a harsh punishment? If I were to kill people the government would be in trouble. And criminals should have human rights too. Human rights should be respected.”

    “Then how…..”

    “Like this.”

I made sure the Ability Management Department staff had fallen back then lightly stomped my feet.

    Kookookookookung.

Then part of the ceiling collapsed completely burying the place where the villains had been thrown.

“Tendons and bones. Crushed them all. Those who use magic have their magical organs destroyed. They can’t get out of there. They can either rage inside or go crazy with hunger and eat each other. Do what you want.”

I silently waved my hand and looked at Director Kim. Then I spoke in a low voice.

“I believe you will definitely take care of those involved with the villains. Oh and if it’s difficult to handle properly please ask for my cooperation. I will help you at any time.”

There are two weeks left until the Awakening Forum in the United States.

The longer you put off cleaning the more it piles up.

    “Let’s clean up in advance.”

It’s time for some serious cleaning.

    Our Pope please stop this
