Somebody Stop the Pope – 155

Episode 155
5.
I made a merciful decision.
Pay in six installments and interest-free.
Since the racing guild is a large guild with a high reputation there’s no reason for them to run away after stealing money.
We are not lenders so why would we need to charge interest?
Moreover since you are an excellent customer who employs members of our church we should be able to provide you with that much flexibility.
Thus the issue of settling the commission fee for the Race Guild was resolved and after that other guilds began to arrive at the outpost one after another.
The Goblin Guild and the Snow Flower Guild are the second.
They also arrived at the outpost without any major problems. At best they were only slightly injured.
Starting with the fighting prowess of CEO Choi who trained tirelessly with Aiden to Seol-hwa whose skills are developing to the fullest.
The power led by these two was considerably stable and the first batch of our trainees sent there were also only aces.
It could be said to be an expected result.
So the first day of the Lost Land Expedition ended and we set up a barrier around the outpost using the sacred stones we had prepared in advance.
So that you can be safe from monster attacks.
Of course since it was done at the request of the government it was natural that a price was paid.
It certainly seems like the South Korean government’s situation has improved a lot these days. They’re giving us a lot of money.
Minister Yoo Seon-ho seemed to be paying attention.
Oh and I also got some help from my friends.
“Our children can rest there so is it really necessary to do this?”
“That also means that we care about the Limen Church. Why are you uncomfortable? If you’re uncomfortable just tell me.”
“Not really… Honestly you look more uncomfortable.”
I nodded as I looked at Aiden who had become a playground for fairies.
The original plan was to stay at the outpost and continue the expedition but this is where the United States got involved.
They provided a helicopter commute service for me and other members of the Limen Church so that we could rest comfortably.
I’ve been feeling this lately but the distance between Gaeseong and Seoul is definitely close.

If you have a private helicopter you can actually commute to work.
Of course this is because the distance to move is short as we are still in the process of establishing and stabilizing an outpost in Gaeseong.
If we move further north in the future the current commute may become difficult.
“I’m glad these cute friends like me. How do we fit together? Even though I look like this I’m famous for being cute in that world…”
“You killed all the cute things in that world right? Otherwise you wouldn’t have been famous for being cute.”
“Why are you saying such sad things?”
Aiden said this and spread his palm the size of a pot lid toward the fairies.
“Wow. Look at this guy! His palm is as big as all three of us combined!”
“Isn’t that not human? A troll! A troll?”
“No this isn’t a troll it’s an ogre!”
“Shh. I think he’s our benefactor… What if he finds out?”
“Don’t worry! No one but the Pope can understand us!”
Our reaction food fairies chattered nonstop while touching Aiden’s palm.
Aiden looked at the ceaselessly chattering fairies with a pleased expression then turned to me and asked me a question.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. But one thing seems certain.”
“What is certain?”
“It’s a compliment. You’re complimenting my palm.”
It’s like a troll’s palm it’s like an ogre’s palm.
Is this really a compliment?
From a savage’s perspective… it’s closer to a compliment.
I took a sip of the coffee that was on the desk in my office and nodded slowly.
“That’s a compliment.”
“As expected! Cute friends know how to recognize cuteness.”
“If you let the word ‘cute’ out of your mouth one more time… you know? Just like with Yamata no Orochi.”
Was the memory from that time so impressive?
Aiden shrugged and changed the subject.
“I’ve heard that the results of the Heavenly Punishment prototype are excellent. That’s encouraging.”
“There are still many areas for improvement. The production cost is expensive.”
“The unit price is not an issue Siwoo. I think you underestimate the value of the punishment.”
“…That’s because you live in America.”
Is this why Americans can’t sympathize with other countries?
I frowned slightly and then sighed as I spoke.
“First of all there are too many hands involved.”
“Just being able to effectively subdue undead type monsters is worth it. If we can secure enough quantity doesn’t that mean that even a force comprised of non-awakened beings can be effective? And the special feature that only the Limen Sect can create… will make the Limen Sect a bit more special group.”
We’ve often heard that undead type monsters are a headache not only in Korea but all over the world.
As Aiden said the punishment will greatly help us maximize the influence of our church.
“This is purely my personal curiosity but does the Limen Church have any objections to developing weapons?”

“Rejection? What rejection?”
“Developing weapons at the religious level… I mean those weapons are related to killing.”
“Ah. That’s not a problem at all. In Eden they even hired alchemists to create things like divine bombs. And anyway weapons with divine power aren’t very effective unless they’re used by those who are tainted by magic.”
“…Is that so?”
“Yeah. If you look at it that way how barbaric is the hammer that Luna swings? Those demons and the bastards are so vicious that it’s only natural to develop a weapon to deal with them.”
Overcoming evil with devout faith and belief?
This is all bullshit.
Evil accompanied by force cannot be stopped without force.
That’s very obvious.
Aiden nodded as if he understood my firm answer. After a while he took out a sealed envelope from his pocket.
“I have something for you Siu.”
“Is this an invitation?”
“Unfortunately I have no intention of remarrying. The wife I loved is no longer in this world.”
“…I heard you had a lot of wives in that world?”
“It was just a political marriage that took place in the process of unifying the tribe. I never once gave them my heart.”
How shameless.
I shot him a disapproving look and then took the envelope he handed me.
“Then what is this?”
“An invitation to the 3rd World Awakening Forum. It will be held in LA in a month. They invited you.”
“Me? Why?”
“The irregular and sacred player who started the revival of the Republic of Korea. This alone is enough reason to invite you. Isn’t it time for you to advance into the world not just Northeast Asia? If you’re a person you should start from a bigger fish…”
“I just want to rest in Korea with my family. No. I’m not going.”
What about the big water?
My lifelong wish is to rest at home.
I declined his offer without a second thought.
Why would I go to a place where only those who brag about being awakened will gather?
“Hmm. I see.”
But Aiden nodded obediently as if he had expected my answer.
“But you will come.”
“I told you I’m not going?”
“I hope we don’t underestimate America’s intelligence capabilities.”
What the hell is this fresh nonsense?
If I don’t go then I’m not going.
But an hour later
I could clearly understand what was meant by ‘American intelligence power’.
6.
After a hard day’s work I returned home.
After taking a nice shower and coming out to the living room Inwook took a bite of the apple he had peeled.
Siyeon walked out of the room.
“Brother!”
“huh?”
“Grandma Emma said that LA is so great! There are so many pretty places… I’ve never been abroad in my life right? Hehe.”
The true identity of the ‘information power’ that Aiden spoke of.
That was the very characteristic of me being a fool for my younger brother who only knew how to demonstrate.
I couldn’t help but smile as I watched the demonstration in front of me singing a song about LA.
“okay?”
“huh!”
“Since it’s the middle of the semester going on vacation later….”
“That’s right! I had a consultation with the principal today! My little brother went with me! Right little brother?”
“I was going to tell you when you got back anyway.”
Inwook who was eating an apple next to me slowly began to talk.
“I heard that Siyeon was invited to the 3rd World Awakened Forum this time? They said she was the youngest unawakened person to be invited and I heard that the school got wind of it.”
What are the odds that it is just a coincidence that an elementary school student in South Korea was invited to the Awakening Forum and that the elementary school student who was invited happened to be my younger brother? What are the odds?
It smells. And it smells really strong.
“That’s why Siyeon is acting like this now. I told her to ask hyung. He might not like it.”
But there are times when Inwook thinks about asking for my opinion first.
I nodded slowly.
“Well done.”
“They provide first class seats on airplanes. They also provide top-class hotels. They also provide credit cards with no usage limit while traveling. They also provide the best bodyguards and other great benefits. And do you know what the worst part is?”
“What is it?”
“They said that if I attended this forum I would definitely be accepted to an American university in the future. I was a little tempted.”
Let me say this again America’s intelligence capabilities are truly amazing.
Families raising students face the most difficult conditions.
I sighed and shook my head. But I couldn’t show my dislike.
“Overseas travel!”
Siyeon was smiling very brightly.
That’s the brightest smile I’ve seen in a while.
It’s absolutely wrong to ruin the mood in front of someone who wants to go like that.
“One thing is certain.”
“what?”
“I’m going to kill half of Aiden as soon as I see him tomorrow.”
It must have been information passed on by Aiden.
If you look at it another way you could say that the United States is in such a hurry to use such a method but is that something I should know?
The method is annoying. The method.
“Big brother.”
Siyeon who had been jumping around just a moment ago grabbed my right hand. Then she spoke in a soft voice.
“If you don’t like it you don’t have to go.”
“…really?”
“Yeah! I might be a little gloomy but it’s okay! But my older brother is by my side!”
Siyeon said that with sparkling eyes.
I couldn’t help but nod my head as I looked at the bright demonstration.
Genes are truly a scary thing.
It’s not easy to apply pressure like that with a smiling face. I wonder who on earth taught you such skills.
It’s really hard to say no to such a bright face.
And actually when I think about it there’s no particular reason to refuse. There’s nothing to lose by stopping by the US.
In a month the Kaesong outpost will stabilize to some extent and there is still half a year left until the second plan Pyongyang.
“I’ll think about it positively.”
If it could create good memories for Siyeon then that alone would be worth considering positively.
It was around this time that I was having a heated discussion with my family about going to America.
-While the monsters around Gaeseong City are being cleared out under the leadership of the government and large guilds small and medium guilds continue to protest at the Ability Management Office building.
-Amidst the growing public opinion that hunters who were not included in this expedition should be given equal rights to enter the Lost Lands…
The news came on TV.
A protest by hunters wishing to enter the Lost Lands.
Inwook put the last apple left on the plate into his mouth looked at me and said.
“Mithril Rush. That’s what they call it on the Internet. I guess everyone wants to get their hands on the Lost Land. These days whether it’s on the Internet or on TV wherever you go that’s the only story you see.”
“It’s like a gold rush.”
“That’s right. There’s a rumor going around that the byproducts from the Lost Lands are incomparable to those from dungeons or gates. That’s why they’re acting like that.”
The madness created by those who band together to make a big profit even at the risk of their lives.
I let out a small sigh as I listened to the story reported on the news.
“I don’t feel well.”
I didn’t feel good.
That too a lot.
And as always my intuition was right on target.
Our Pope please stop this
