    Episode 135

    42. Sorry for being late

    1.

    It was perfect.

This is the makeshift landing pad I made when I landed.

    “Excellent.”

A lot of attention was paid to detail.

Since it is a place where helicopters have to land we paid attention to the level and width.

Maybe I also have a talent for architecture?

“All four helicopters are fine. The effects of the highest-grade sacred stones are truly amazing.”

As I was looking around the landing site with a satisfied feeling Aiden came over from the helicopter and said.

“Performance is certain. Defensive performance is incomparable to horsepower.”

“I think so. I thought divine power was only useful for healing. I only heard that research was being conducted in the home country.”

“After all the core of divine power is to preserve life. Although divine power is originally specialized in healing the divine power of our sect is quite unique among divine powers.”

The core of our church is preemptive defense.

Preemptively removing life-threatening factors in order to protect life.

Isn’t there a saying that the best defense is offense?

This is exactly what I’m talking about in my church.

“The Divine Stone may bring about a revolution in the way we fight. If we can free ourselves from the attacks of flying monsters we will be able to use modern means of transportation effectively.”

    “Do you like it?”

“Wouldn’t it be more efficient to use a helicopter or transport plane rather than running?”

    “That’s right.”

Aiden seemed greatly impressed by the performance of the Divine Stone.

Just before the air squadron took off I and the leaders of the Limen Sect had placed strong consecrations on all four helicopters. In addition we had placed sacred barriers on each helicopter using the highest grade sacred stones we had brought from the temple in advance.

The Chinook helicopter we were currently riding on could literally be called a moving fortress.

It has a level of defense that makes it difficult to shoot down even anti-aircraft weapons such as surface-to-air missiles.

If it were just us riding it wouldn’t matter but since we had to collect the survivors here and bring them back we used the highest grade sacred stones without holding back.

Why would I need to be frugal when my life is at stake when I’m putting the highest grade divine stone into my useless body?

“The landing was successful so we should move on to the next step right away Siu. What’s the next plan?”

“We’re going to use this as our base camp and turn the area into a wasteland. Kill all the dark elves you see Aiden. They’re a people that’s impossible to negotiate with.”

“…It’s too radical for an operation to be established by a pope of a certain religious sect. Is that really true?”

“You wouldn’t want to ask people who kill humans for fun and even experiment on human bodies about human rights would you?”

These are guys who have no chance of rehabilitation in the first place.

Dark Elves are a race born from the corruption of elves into magic. Those who originated from magic were no different from the demon race.

The magic that comes from all kinds of negative emotions including desire contaminates our nature.

I’ve already experienced countless guys in Eden. I even tried to purify the magic of the dark elves but it was really useless.

“Because they’re going to die anyway if you purify their magic.”

For these guys magic was a lifeline.

A dark elf who loses his magic dies.

That’s why there’s no need to purify it. Simply removing it is the best method.

“I wasn’t questioning killing them. I was just wondering how they were going to find the survivors.”

Aiden nodded scratching his back with the axe he was holding in his right hand.

“It’s too big to search one by one. And don’t you think we need to assign separate personnel to guard this place?”

“That’s why we brought the wizards. Kang Chae-ah? Seol-hwa?”

I called out to Kang Chae-ah and Seol-hwa who were chatting lightly from afar. Then they slowly approached me.

Kang Chae-ah was currently considered the best magician in South Korea and Seol-hwa possessed abilities that were very suitable for my plan.

Especially the ability to tell stories.

    “Did you call oppa?”

“I told you before we took off didn’t I? I brought you some top-grade magic stones from the US so use them to build a solid ice fortress.”

The special ability of Sulwha to build a stronghold which I was impressed by in the last dungeon will be of great help in this operation.

“This is a magic stone that I received in exchange for providing the highest-grade sacred stone so use it however you like. Oh and.”

I put my mouth next to Seolhwa’s ear and spoke in a very small voice.

“Use it in moderation and do what’s left over.”

“…Isn’t this really expensive? I can’t get it even if I pay for it…”

“It’s okay. You said that magic stones are a catalyst for growth for wizards? You should grow too. Then….”

    “…Is that so?”

Sulwha’s voice seemed to be filled with anticipation.

I whispered even more secretly in that voice.

“Shouldn’t I make better use of you? Hehe. Grow up quickly Seolhwa.”

Talent alone is a definite legend.

If Seol-hwa continues to grow won’t there be something she can do to help her later?

Of course there are areas that only magic can solve.

But Seol-hwa nodded with a sigh as if she was dissatisfied with what I said.

    “Then that’s right.”

    “why?”

“No it’s okay. But oppa can I do it with just my magic?”

“No problem. Your magic is a secondary line of defense anyway and the primary line of defense is those helicopters. To be exact they are large sacred barriers set up with the four highest-grade sacred stones embedded in those helicopters.”

The helicopters that safely transported us here will now become the focal point of the barrier.

A large basin formed as I landed.

By covering this with a sacred barrier a kind of bunker was formed.

If the magic of the highest grade magic stone is added here a perfect defense line can be built.

“For a hastily put together plan isn’t it pretty perfect Aiden?”

“Well let’s say that’s the defense plan. How do you plan on searching for survivors? We don’t even know where the survivors are right now.”

“That was all planned out. There are kids coming over there.”

I pointed to one side with my finger and Aiden looked where I was pointing.

    And after a while.

    Aiden muttered in disbelief.

    “Is that the plan?”

    “That’s a great plan isn’t it?”

Luna and Leo running towards us from far away.

In each of their hands they held a black-skinned dwarf.

“If there is no information you can just extract the information yourself.”

“I’m not surprised anymore Siu. You’re the best I know.”

    “Thank you for the compliment.”

“They say he’s crazy to the max. He’s really amazing. He’s so amazing that he’s even impressed by me who led the great tribe. So don’t worry about it being complicated. Just catch the enemy and extract information! Hehehe thank you for reminding me of something important.”

It’s a kind of unpleasant compliment that seems like a compliment but isn’t really a compliment.

Maybe it’s because I’m with my grandmother but my sarcasm is also improving by leaps and bounds.

I glared at Aiden with a displeased expression then looked at Leo and Luna who had arrived in front of us.

The two of them placed the unconscious dark elves in front of me.

    “I’m back Your Majesty.”

“As expected the scouts were right there. We caught them without much difficulty.”

“Oh okay. Thank you for your hard work. Were there no others besides these guys?”

    Luna nodded to my question.

“Yes. I took a quick look around and these are all there are. Should we go and catch some more?”

“Is it really necessary to go that far?”

As I said that I slowly approached the dark elves.

    Shiver shiver.

The dark elves known for their cruelty were all trembling as if they had experienced hell during the process of being captured.

It wasn’t a difficult reaction to understand.

No matter how much of a dark elf is possessed by magic as long as they are alive they have a survival instinct.

Even in the case of orcs who were much dumber than these guys this was the case.

Even the Orcs fled north in a panic after losing their Overlord during the last Monster Wave so what about the Dark Elves who are much more cunning than them?

“At least you guys can communicate better than those pig heads. Can I expect that guys?”

I spoke quietly to the dark elves.

Thanks to the <Blessing of Language> my intentions are conveyed accurately to them.

If we can even converse with demons how could it not apply to dark elves?

“If you just answer my questions I won’t let you see anything bad. Trust me. Do you all understand what I mean?”

Wouldn’t it be a much happier ending to die cleanly in one blow than to be burned alive by the Holy Spirit?

I started to get information from the guys in a quiet voice.

“Now to the room of truth.”

A pure white torch was fluttering from the gauntlet worn on my right hand.

    2.

    Kwaaaaaaaaaaahh …

    ‘…Hmm?’

A damp and unpleasant little cave created near the roots of a large tree.

Eun-taek Lee opened his eyes with difficulty at the sudden loud noise.

He couldn’t even make a sound because he had a gag and a cunning tool in his mouth.

    “Euuuuu.”

A soft scream escaped from between his swollen lips.

This was because the poison injected by the dark elves the day before had not been completely detoxified and was eating away at every part of his body.

A life lived without being able to die.

No I would rather live a life where I wish someone would come and kill me.

That was the only life allowed to the humans captured by the dark elves including Lee Eun-taek.

Eun-taek Lee struggled to get up and looked around.

The total number of survivors trapped in this cave is twelve.

Originally there were fifteen but last month the number was reduced to three. Some of the survivors who were captured took advantage of a gap in surveillance to commit suicide.

Since then surveillance on the survivors has become more intense but Eun-taek Lee cannot blame them for taking their own lives.

‘…Isn’t it right to die? I have to live to see…’

His homeland once called the People’s Republic of North Korea had long since collapsed.

There was no longer any human-created nation on this earth.

Only monsters from another world and the order they established remain.

Eun-taek Lee suddenly remembered something that happened three years ago.

A small community of survivors who had survived in this area.

Although they were unable to contact the outside world they were able to survive the first two years thanks to the new abilities of those who had awakened.

But that was only for a moment.

The community was destroyed with shocking ease by the sudden appearance of dark elves in the area and a massacre unfolded that did not discriminate between men women old or young.

And Lee Eun-taek was one of the few survivors of the massacre.

    ‘…it was right to die.’

If you died if you really died then.

I would have rather avoided the fate of being a lab rat with all my vocal cords and tendons severed like I am now.

[Passive skill <Indomitable Spirit Lv. 17> prevents your spirit from collapsing.]

I’ve thought to myself a hundred times that it wouldn’t have been better if I had been an idiot who couldn’t feel anything.

Eun-taek Lee shivered as he looked at the message window that appeared before his eyes.

In this horrible hell most of the survivors have already lost their minds.

But he had to endure the pain with his mind wide open all the time and watch his colleagues fall apart.

Where in the world can there be such a hell?

What sins must one commit in a past life to deserve to end up in a hell like this?

    Kwaaaaaaaah!

Eun-taek Lee shivered once again at the loud noise he heard. This time it wasn’t just the loud noise.

The entire cave shook as if an earthquake had occurred.

How many minutes did this strange phenomenon continue?

    “OOO-!”

The area in front of the cave where he was began to become noisy and soon dark elves entered the cave.

Their attire was different from usual.

Instead of the leather clothes they usually wore they were wearing metal armor.

The dark elves who entered the cave quickly approached the survivors inside the cave with their weapons drawn.

It seemed as if the survivors’ lives would be taken at any moment.

    ‘…at las.’

Eun-taek Lee closed his eyes as he looked at a dark elf approaching him.

For some unknown reason it seemed as though they were finally thinking of taking their own lives.

    But after a while.

    Kwajijijik-!

Instead of the sound of something being cut he heard an eerie cracking sound in his ear.

Eun-taek Lee opened his eyes again.

Then an unbelievable scene unfolded before his eyes.

    A man was standing.

He was lighting up the dark cave with a pure white flame and dark elves with crushed heads were scattered around him.

The pungent scent of blood that was constantly tickling my nose was proof that this was not a dream.

The man slowly approached Lee Eun-taek.

    “Can you see me?”

Lee Eun-taek nodded vigorously to the question asked in a South Korean tone.

The man knelt down on one knee for a moment toward Lee Eun-taek. Then he bowed his head politely and said.

    “Sorry for being late.”

    “Ahhhh. Aaaahhhhhhhh.”

Tears flowed down Eun-taek Lee’s cheeks.

    It was salvation in despair.

    Our Pope please stop this
