Somebody Stop the Pope – 133

Episode 133
3.
“I can’t believe it. It’s been five years. It’s been five years since the place was taken over by monsters and there are still survivors there…”
Minister Yoo Seon-ho shook his head in disbelief after hearing my explanation.
The land of the former North Korea that was turned into a scorched earth after the opening of Dimension.
Even I couldn’t believe that there were still survivors in that hellish land that South Korea had to reclaim.
If I had heard that information from someone other than Beth I would have been suspicious.
But there was absolutely no reason for Beth to lie to us.
“The estimated number of survivors is around 100. This is the area where they are isolated.”
I pointed to a place on the map spread out on the desk.
“It’s a place known as Hamheung. It is believed that there are survivors there.”
“…I believe that Pope Kim Si-woo would not tell a lie here.”
“Just in case we conducted a few reconnaissance missions via Black Hawk on the way back but we will probably only be able to know the details once we land there.”
On the way back I searched the area around Hamheung that Beth had told me about.
But the information we have is that there is a hostile alien race occupying the area.
Hamheung once said to be one of the most prominent cities in North Korea seemed to have long since become a ruin with only traces of alien races and monsters remaining here and there.
“If the ones occupying that place are intelligent we need to finish them off in one fell swoop to minimize the damage. That way the people being held captive won’t be harmed.”
“Why did they leave the humans alive? Most of the other races that continued the massacre without negotiation or dialogue have settled there. I don’t understand why they left the humans alive.”
Minister Yoo Seon-ho gulped down his tea his throat burning.
I nodded slowly and answered Minister Yoo Seon-ho’s question.
“According to the information Beth gave me the reason is simple.”
Scenes vaguely seen by Beth who had not fully recovered her abilities.
The scene that Beth encountered through the memories embedded in the earth
“They say they are testing their weapons including poison on captured humans.”
It is said that they were poor fateful humans who were tortured and experimented on by a black-skinned alien race.
Minister Yoo Seon-ho responded to my words with a smirk on his face.

“Vivisection.”
“Dark elves. They are smart enough to know who the ruling species of this Earth is.”
I could roughly guess who the guys were just from the information Beth gave me.
black skin
Negative energy.
A race that uses poison as their main weapon.
In Eden there was one race that satisfied these three conditions: the dark elves.
A species that became extinct in Eden six years ago.
I wasn’t sure if they were the same type as the dark elves of Eden but I could guess their general identity from just a little bit of information.
“How the survivors were captured by them how they survived for five years. I think we need to find out that information right after the rescue. As of now I think there is no other way than rescue.”
“Phew.”
Minister Yoo Seon-ho let out a deep sigh after hearing what I said.
But the old man’s worries did not last long.
“Could you also share with us the Remen Church’s rescue plan?”
“We will deploy the maximum force we can mobilize at once and then quickly rescue the survivors and return. Aiden will also participate in this rescue operation. We have already requested it on our way back and if necessary we will also mobilize US military helicopters.”
Aiden readily accepted my offer without a moment’s hesitation.
A situation where the danger lurking in the Hamheung region is not clearly identified.
The plan was to mobilize at least S-class power.
It was too hasty to mobilize the new recruits of our sect. That was a place called the Lost Land and it was a great threat to the new recruits who had only recently awakened.
Minister Yoo Seon-ho looked into my eyes after hearing my answer.
“I am sorry Pope Kim Si-woo.”
“…yes?”
“They are legally citizens of the Republic of Korea. It is natural for them to save their own citizens so they should have contacted us first.”
Minister Yoo Seon-ho said this and carefully took his smartphone out of his pocket.
“Can I call the President for a moment?”
“Oh yes. Of course.”
“thank you.”
He tapped the screen of his smartphone a few times and soon brought it to his ear.
And after a while.
He started the call in a polite voice.
“Yes Mr. President. I have to call you because I need your approval. Is it okay for you to talk?”
Since then Minister Yoo Seon-ho has been talking about various things.
After so much time had passed Minister Yoo Seon-ho carefully handed me a smartphone.
“I would like to speak to you directly.”
I took the smartphone he handed me and spoke in a low voice.
“I received a call. This is Kim Si-woo.”
– I received a brief report from Minister Yoo Seon-ho. Rather I would like to ask you something. Pope Kim Si-woo. Please tell me what you need. I will provide you with anything.

Recently I heard that the President has been focusing all his energy on the Northward Advance policy.
His voice had lost some of the usual ease.
A voice more serious than ever.
It was a much more serious voice than when he was very distracted by the Northeast Asia Exchange War.
I continued speaking cautiously to such a president.
“It is currently impossible to travel to Hamhung by land. I would like to receive support for a transport helicopter. I would like to have enough space for about 150 people.”
-Okay I’ll start organizing it right away. It shouldn’t take too long.
President Seo hung up the phone after making several assurances and I handed the smartphone back to Minister Yoo Seon-ho.
“Isn’t it most urgent for the President?”
“The search for survivors was the top priority of the President’s plan to advance north. That shows how important it is to him. As I said earlier they are also citizens of the Republic of Korea.”
“I guess it’s something like belief.”
“It is not a belief. It is a duty and a responsibility that must be kept.”
Listening to Minister Yoo Seon-ho’s firm answer I nodded slowly once again.
So the request for cooperation ended with one phone call.
Now all that remained was to rescue the survivors using the transport helicopters they had provided.
I tapped the desk with my fingers.
And Minister Yoo Seon-ho who was watching the scene asked me a question.
“Have you thought of a name for the operation? Since it will involve mobilizing military assets a report on the operation may be prepared later.”
“The name is…..”
Do we really need a fancy operation name when we’re just rescuing people?
“I think this level of salvation would be enough.”
“…Good.”
Operation Salvation.
It was the name of the first historic military operation to unfold on the lost lands of the Republic of Korea.
So an hour later.
Everything is ready.
4.
This is an aviation squadron located in Gangwon-do.
“I have to do two baths a day. I was just getting to know Beth… What a shame.”
“You can just pay overtime pay.”
“Even if it’s a capitalist society is money everything? Work-life balance is….”
“If money isn’t everything then would you like to do unpaid volunteer work starting today? It’ll be good because it’ll help you become more devout and it’ll help you develop more faith in Limen…”
“Hey you know this is a joke.”
The helicopter was definitely fast.
You can see how quickly you can travel to places that would take hours by land.
“I need to get a helicopter for use in the church later.”
“Leave it to me Siu. I’ll tell the home country and have them buy it for a low price.”
“A savage is even an arms broker?”
“A broker? I don’t charge commissions.”
Aiden answered with a frown as if he was displeased.
I looked over Aiden’s body like that then sighed and said.
“You’ve been dressing well up until now but why are you in naked mode today?”
“The fabrics of the Earth cannot withstand my rough speculation. They are useless anyway except for the pants and underwear I brought over from the other world.”
“Does that mean you walk around naked? Think about what other people think.”
“My muscles are like a work of art Siwoo. Don’t you think it’s a shame to keep this work of art to myself?”
“Just die.”
“My muscles are killer muscles. Thanks for the compliment.”
I should have just blasted that snout away with a spear when I first met you but I keep regretting it.
Still since it was a solid unit in terms of fighting power there was nothing I could do to minimize the damage.
An operation that involves two irregulars.
It was a force that could destroy any country but the stronger the force the better.
It is because we need to be strong to be able to respond to various variables more easily.
“Anyway if you’re thinking of buying a helicopter be sure to let me know. I’ll sell you plenty of military helicopters too.”
“Don’t you need permission from your superiors?”
“If I could do business with you in my home country wouldn’t it be a profitable business?”
“That’s right.”
Later when the church’s finances become sufficient we should buy weapons like missiles.
I’m seriously interested in building a missile base.
I nodded slightly and looked at the helicopters waiting for takeoff.
A transport helicopter with a different structure from the Black Hawk we boarded earlier.
It was the very helicopter we are familiar with as the ‘Chinook helicopter’ which we often see in war movies.
“Two from the Korean side and two from the US side. A total of four vehicles will be deployed in this operation.”
“I heard that even helicopters of the same type can look slightly different depending on the modifications but this one looks exactly the same?”
“The Chinook helicopter that the Koreans have is the one we sold them a month ago. I understand that they purchased it for the northward advance. Of course it has to be the same as ours.”
Aiden spoke fluently as if he had prepared for it and I asked him a question in a subtle way.
“What on earth don’t you know?”
“Siwoo. I don’t know what’s on your mind at all. If only I could know… Oh and next month or so an additional Irregular will be visiting from the home country. The pretext is to check on Mrs. Emma Miller but I think the real purpose is….”
“I guess so.”
“yes.”
“But why are you telling that to the person in question? Aren’t you American?”
Aiden looked at me and smiled wickedly at my question.
“I am your friend before I am an American. And I value loyalty and friendship above all else.”
There’s no way this guy who is more political than anyone else would do something like this for no reason.
I stared at Aiden.
I don’t know what he’s thinking but I don’t feel any dark intentions. And Aiden seems to have lost a lot of his venom since we first met.
At that time it felt a bit precarious but now should I say it’s become somewhat softer?
“I’m watching you.”
“Don’t worry Siu. I won’t do anything that would make you worry.”
Suddenly I remember a story my grandmother told me the other day.
– Aiden that guy is a really pitiful guy. Siwoo take good care of him. No matter how much of a story there is in this world we are lucky compared to that guy. Okay?
Someday I’ll hear this guy’s story.
Anyway all the troops to be deployed for the operation were gathered.
As for the troops they were nothing more than the troops that had headed to Baekdu Mountain earlier plus Oh Jun-woo and Aiden.
Aiden glanced at the helicopters preparing for takeoff.
“What’s the operational plan? I heard that the helicopter’s defense capabilities will be maximized through the Limen Sect’s sacred stone.”
I shrugged at Aiden’s question.
And he answered as if it were a given.
“There’s no need to overthink it.”
“hmm?”
“I’ve already heard the general area where the survivors are being held so all I have to do is wipe out all the monsters in that area in an instant. I just have to crush their heads before they come to their senses. Easy right?”
Aiden who heard what I said seemed shocked and just nodded his head for about two minutes.
…Why?
Seems like a perfect operation huh?
Our Pope please stop this
