    Episode 120

    37. Vacancy

    1.

Our first match which was scheduled to be between me and Wang Wei was pushed back so Leo became our vanguard.

“Leo Lumen of the Republic of Korea and Zhang Min of the People’s Republic of China. The two Awakened Ones are requested to come forward for a duel.”

Minister Yoo Seon-ho spoke through the microphone and Leo who heard him slowly stood up from his seat.

    “Then I will go.”

There wasn’t anything in particular I wanted to say to Leo.

It was a match without any tension from the beginning. They may not know but I didn’t think the Chinese hunters could stand up to Leo and Luna.

The power gap is already evident.

In fact I had already sensed the outcome of this match at the last welcoming ceremony.

It was the same for me Leo Luna.

“Archbishop Leo. If you stand out too much it will be a problem for me. I promised the kids that I would do something big today. I think you know what I mean! Hahaha! Don’t keep such delicious food to yourself!”

Of course our CEO Choi Seo-jin has been receiving special training from Aiden for the past month.

“I have prepared a lot so that I can’t be a nuisance. You can trust me.”

The same goes for Kang Chae-ah South Korea’s representative magician whose skills have improved significantly since her reunion with Ryu Jin-young.

Those two were undoubtedly the best cards South Korea could play in the current situation.

Besides seeing the two of them grow so much in just a month made me feel as if I was eating noodles.

Leo and Luna are each facing off against the two powerful figures who are called the two leading figures of this Chinese delegation excluding Wang Wei.

    “Leo.”

    “Yes Your Majesty.”

    “Go and show me.”

Leo bowed his head and greeted me then put his monocle away in the pocket of his cassock.

And then he walked forward with brisk strides.

Zhang Min from the Chinese side followed Leo slowly towards the center of the training ground.

On a wide training field about half the size of a soccer field.

Leo and Zhang Min stood in the center of the wide space and looked at each other.

In the hand of Zhang Min who was wearing light green armor was a long spear.

“Zhang Min. He is a person known within China as a flawless spearman. He is also one of the disaster-level returnees from China who has been revealed to the outside world.”

CEO Choi who had his arms crossed spoke while looking at Jang Min.

“At the same time he is famous as Wang Wei’s right-hand man within the International Cooperation Bureau of the Superhumans. As the right-hand man of the Sword Demon who advocates a strict meritocracy he is also famous for his outstanding skills. His nickname is Changryong. I heard that within China he is compared to Zhao Yun from the Three Kingdoms.”

It was CEO Choi’s consideration for me who didn’t know much about the Chinese awakened people.

I nodded slightly while listening to CEO Choi’s explanation.

“CEO Choi who do you think will win?”

“There is no need to worry. This is Archbishop Leo.”

    “Why?”

“Looking at Jang Min like this now I don’t really think the author is scary. But Archbishop Leo… Hehe I’ll try to be careful with my words.”

I heard from Aiden that CEO Choi has achieved great results.

It is said that tremendous progress has been made especially in terms of combat sense.

That means Aiden has been fighting against CEO Choi nonstop. His fighting spirit is something that can only be achieved by fighting against strong opponents.

For CEO Choi who fights with an explosive fighting spirit his fighting sense and even intuition are the most effective means of increasing his specs.

Leo and Zhang Min stood there silently looking at each other but there was a strange atmosphere flowing between them.

And CEO Choi instinctively captured that atmosphere.

“I am already looking forward to seeing what kind of sparring Archbishop Leo will show us.”

“I think it might be a bit difficult if you expect it.”

    “yes?”

“Because it’ll end up being petty.”

    I chuckled.

And after a while the buzzer rang to signal the start of the duel.

    Beep beep beep!

Even as the buzzer rang the two maintained their standoff lightly maintaining their posture as if exploring each other.

In particular Jang Min held the spear with both hands and placed the tip of the spear in front of him.

It was as if he was taunting Leo to come in.

“It is said that Jang Min’s spear technique has the characteristic of prioritizing defense and counterattack against enemy attacks. By utilizing the superior reach of the spear weapon…”

“CEO Choi. Did I tell you what Leo’s title was in Eden?”

Whether the opponent’s weapon is a spear or a sword.

None of that matters to Leo.

“The Mad Dog of the Vatican. There’s a reason Leo was given such a brutal nickname.”

The word mad is not a word that fits with a priest who follows the will of God.

There is nothing more humiliating than being nicknamed a mad dog by a priest but anyone who has ever seen Leo fight in earnest would have to accept the nickname.

“Leo shows no mercy to those who cross the line he has set.”

Finally Leo begins to move his body.

The priest with a huge body slowly approached Jang Min and Jang Min changed his posture while looking at Leo.

Jang Min’s spear tip aimed at Leo’s chest. At the same time magical power quickly gathered from Jang Min’s spear tip.

    Touhou.

Leo stepped forward in the blink of an eye and dug into Zhang Min’s attack range and Zhang Min not to be outdone stabbed him with his spear.

Stabbing which can be called the flower of spearmanship.

The tip of the spear filled with magical power dug into Leo’s completely open chest.

It was in that tiny split second that the outcome was decided.

The tip of Zhang Min’s spear cut through the black priest’s robe and dug into Leo’s skin.

At first glance the attack seemed successful but Jang Min’s expression said otherwise.

    Jang Min’s expression was urgent.

That’s because the guy’s spear ended up lodged in Leo’s shoulder instead of his original target Leo’s chest.

    “Eww!”

The spear embedded in his shoulder did not move even an inch no matter how hard Jang Min struggled.

Blood flowed from Leo’s wound and ran down Jang Min’s spear and Jang Min just looked at Leo with a terrified expression.

And Leo grabbed Jang Min’s shoulders with a blank expression.

I said to Jang Min who was in Leo’s grasp while giggling.

“If you can’t kill a mad dog in one breath it will end up getting bitten.”

Leo continued to fight even though he had countless teeth from demons and weapons from the demon tribe embedded in his body.

The guy came to the center of the battlefield covered in his own blood tearing apart hundreds thousands and tens of thousands of enemies.

Even now Leo’s body was covered in scars left by his enemies.

    It hits harder and harder.

Leo’s simple yet honest way of doing things could be said to be Leo’s identity that earned him the title of mad dog.

What if I couldn’t kill Leo in one go?

The ending the opponent would face was obvious.

    Wooddudududuk-!

    Wood crunch.

    “Kuaaaaaaaaaah! Kuaaaaaaah!”

Leo broke Zhang Min’s shoulder without hesitation literally breaking it.

Zhang Min’s shoulder blade was twisted and broken with bones tearing through Zhang Min’s flesh and protruding outward.

    “Krrrrrrr.”

In the face of suffering there was no such thing as a disaster-level returner or anything.

Jang Min rolled his eyes and fainted and Leo still looked down at him with a blank expression.

    “Lack of practice.”

The atmosphere of the Chinese delegation which had been calling out Zhang Min’s name until just a moment ago rapidly cooled.

Leo glanced at the Chinese delegation then looked back down at Zhang Min and said.

“Since this is a match to test each other’s skills I will give you a special performance. Know that it is an honor non-believer.”

    Wood thud-.

Minister Yoo Seon-ho shouted urgently at the eerie sound that echoed again.

    “The game is over!”

    “Jang Min Niiiiiiiiim!”

    “Medical journalism! Medical journalism!”

The training ground became chaotic in an instant.

I looked at the chaos and raised the corners of my mouth.

    “The prologue is good.”

I think it was perfect as an opening.

    2.

As soon as the first match was over Wang Wei came to where our delegation was.

As soon as Wang Wei arrived in front of us his face turned red and his voice was raised.

“Doesn’t the small country know the meaning of sparring? Are you trying to kill the nobles who came to teach you a lesson?”

The talk of coming all of a sudden and doing this was just nonsense.

I listened to Wang Wei’s nonsense and turned a deaf ear. Then I asked back in a sly voice.

“So is it okay to stab Leo’s chest with a spear first? If it had been another Awakened person instead of Leo he would have died. Aren’t you the ones who intended to kill him?”

If Leo hadn’t twisted his body the moment the spear touched him Zhang Min’s spear would have pierced Leo’s chest without a doubt.

It was a fatal attack without a doubt.

Leo simply twisted his body and took the attack with minimal damage.

“Besides Leo said he would fix your bones right away and give you some treatment. He even gave you some divine power to heal you. Look at it with your own eyes. That guy Jang Min’s shoulders have gotten wider since before right? Leo broadened his shoulders so tell him to come back and thank you when he comes to his senses.”

It was they who first faded the meaning of the dialogue.

Still Leo showed mercy until the last moment. He spared the life of a man who could have died from shock.

Of course it didn’t seem like it was treated cleanly.

It was just enough to keep life hanging on.

“You’d better be prepared you Awakened people of small nations. The anger of a great nation will not subside easily.”

Wang Wei who had nothing to say continued to babble until the end and returned to where he had been.

I said looking at Wang Wei who was walking away.

“If that’s the case then why did you come here?”

“Hey Your Majesty. Look at the atmosphere over there. Your subordinates are shocked like that. How can you save face if you just sit still? You have to do something.”

As Luna said the Chinese delegation was still in shock.

That’s understandable since their second power-up lasted less than a minute before they retired.

And it is overwhelming and devastating.

There Leo treated the unconscious opponent once more under the pretense of curing him so even I would have been shocked by his cruelty.

    Fear is inherently contagious.

Especially from the moment their boasted power was so vainly shattered the fear was bound to spread in an instant.

“Anyway I said we fight ignorantly because I think our brother is from the North.”

Luna smiled and said to Leo who had returned to us without realizing it.

“Originally I was planning to fold it all the way.”

    “Why didn’t you finish it?”

“He was a very mischievous fellow. He had already lost consciousness when he was halfway through. In that state you cannot repent of your sins Your Majesty.”

Leo silently put his monocle back on continuing to make fierce comments until the very end.

The shoulder that was pierced by the window had already healed.

Luna who had examined the wound said as she struck Leo on the back.

“This older sister sometimes wonders if my younger brother is a troll.”

“My parents who gave birth to me are of course human…”

“I know I know. But what if you come to Earth and fight like that? You might not mind in Eden but on Earth you’ll probably be criticized for being too savage. Don’t you think so Your Majesty?”

“Sir Reventon. There is an idiom that says ‘If you don’t do well don’t do well.’”

“Leo. I just passed over it last time but ‘Naeronambul’ is not an idiom. If I do it it’s romance. If someone else does it it’s an affair. There are sister products such as ‘Jagangducheon’ and ‘Kkilkkippappa’.”

Leo sat silently in response to my remark.

And judging by the way he quietly takes out his smartphone it seems like he’s trying to confirm the truth of what I’m saying.

    You doubt my words.

    …baddie.

Anyway Leo’s turn was over and next it was Luna’s turn.

Luna slowly stood up from her seat and spoke in a soft voice.

“Your Majesty I will show them clearly what a beautiful battle is. Just trust me.”

“You shouldn’t crush someone’s head with a hammer. That’ll kill them instantly. You know there’s no cure right?”

“I never intended to wield the hammer in the first place. I told you that I had a secret weapon prepared specifically for today. Just watch. I’m sure Your Majesty will like it.”

So Luna stepped forward with light steps.

    And a minute later.

I nodded slowly looking at the weapon Luna had pulled out.

    “Then that’s right.”

There’s no way Luna would have prepared something ordinary.

    Boom boom-!

The ridiculous sound of the hammer resonating through the training grounds Luna smiled brightly and said.

“I’ll have fun with you. Look forward to it.”

China’s humiliation has only just begun.

    Our Pope please stop this
