    Episode 113

    7.

    After reporter Seo Tae-ho left.

My official schedule for the day concluded with a simple lunch with Sulwha.

Normally the end and beginning of the year should be busy but there wasn’t anything particularly busy. Since the last disaster-level returnee the government hasn’t asked for any help and we haven’t prepared any special New Year’s events.

In Eden New Year’s rites have been held on the first day of every year since the end of the war but this year they decided to skip it.

It was because the church was not yet in a position to prepare for the sacrament. It would be difficult to conduct the sacrament right away let alone in the year after next.

This part is acknowledged even by Archbishop Laparte who is known for being strict about doctrine.

So this year we decided to leave our greetings online.

Anyway for some reason or another there was nothing busy at the moment.

“I really want to get off work.”

Since there’s nothing urgent I’d like to just leave work but if I do I’ll probably be nagged by Archbishop Lapart all day tomorrow.

The thought of having to listen to that nagging voice for at least three hours made me dizzy.

I wanted to take Siyeon and Baekseol who were on vacation and roll around at home but I had no choice but to endure it.

Since I couldn’t stay in my stuffy office forever I headed to another part of the Holy Land.

That was the large training ground where new recruits from our church were being educated.

Thanks to the considerable investment of divine points I made the training grounds were the second largest in size within the Holy Land next to the temples.

As soon as I entered the training ground a handsome man with a sad expression greeted me.

    “Are you here Your Holiness?”

“Brother Junwoo. How is it? Is the work okay?”

“I’m just grateful that you always take such good care of me. The work… isn’t hard. In fact I’m still not sure if I’m really needed.”

Oh Jun-woo who came over after reporting internally on the Hive Guild last time. He is occasionally called in by the government to be investigated for corruption but he usually helps the students of our church like this.

I heard from Director Kim that Mr. Oh Jun-woo will soon be cleared of charges. He said that no criminal acts have been confirmed that warrant responsibility?

“You look pale today Brother Junwoo. What’s wrong?”

“…It’s nothing. I just feel strange whenever I see the trainees training physically.”

Mr. Oh Jun-woo looked at the wide track located in the training center with a faint smile.

As a training center that was reborn as an Earth-style facility several modern facilities were introduced including a track and field track for physical training.

“Um is there something wrong with the training facility?”

“There is absolutely no problem with the facilities. I think they are on a level that is not inferior to that of large guilds. If I had to point out a problem….”

“Do you think it makes sense to collapse because something like this is hard? Anyone who touches the ground with their knees right now will have to do 10 more laps! Get a grip on yourself you punks!”

“…Luna-sama I guess. When I was young I saw a movie called “Like a God”. It felt like I was seeing the hell of sloth that appeared in that movie… Ah I made a slip of the tongue at the sect’s sacred grounds…”

Mr. Oh Jun-woo looked at me with an embarrassed expression. I just smiled bitterly and waved my hand.

“It’s okay. It looks like hell to me.”

    Gurrrrrrrrrr-.

If this isn’t hell with 142 people running around with metal balls the size of human bodies tied to their backs then what is?

In addition at the center of them all was Luna wearing a red instructor’s hat who was constantly pushing the trainees.

Where on earth did you get that teaching assistant hat?

“The divine power on the battlefield is basically a power that helps with healing! That is a fact that does not change whether you walk the path of a priest or a paladin. However as I always emphasize to you the healing of our Limen Order is not limited to simple treatment! Everyone follows suit.”

Luna’s voice resonated throughout the wide training grounds.

    “The best healing!”

    “The best healing!”

“The goal is to break the enemy’s head first!”

“The goal is to break the enemy’s head first!”

The voices of students possessed by evil.

At this point it seemed like they were not training new recruits for the church but rather training a suicide squad ready to jump into the temple at any moment.

But none of the trainees complained.

That meant Luna had a tight grip on the trainees.

“Remember the best way to do this is to eliminate those who would harm your comrades or family. Do you understand?”

    “yes!”

Whether you are aspiring to be a priest or a paladin.

I couldn’t help but smile happily as I watched the trainees gather together in one place and conduct physical training that was almost like a show of strength.

“As expected the priest is resilient. I really like him.”

At my words Oh Jun-woo’s face turned even paler.

    “…yes?”

“The battlefield is a hell worse than this. Physical training is the basis of everything. There is even a saying that physical strength is national power so its importance cannot be overemphasized.”

Compared to the training camp of Eden this place was heaven.

Due to the war with the Demon Tribe there was always a shortage of troops to be deployed on the battlefield and naturally the training center was busy mobilizing trainees to raise troops as quickly as possible.

I too was taken to the religious order’s training center as soon as I fell into Eden so I knew better than anyone else how intense the training there was.

“But Your Holiness excessive physical training is actually poisonous. Beyond a certain level the effectiveness of the training….”

“Are you worried about overtraining? It’s okay to just roll around. Divine power increases the user’s physical abilities including recovery. It also promotes muscle growth so muscle mass increases quickly. You could say it’s a privilege for users of Divine Power.”

To be honest it is difficult to find a priest with a weak image in the Limen Church.

Even if the clergy before the Great War didn’t know the clergy after the Great War at least had the power to protect their own bodies.

Divine power is an energy that can be of great help to the development of the body if used well.

You can guess just by looking at the faces of our Vatican officials who have come to Earth now.

“Since you’re receiving various bonuses from the system your body will probably be completed quickly. Luna knows that too and that’s why she’s acting like that.”

Due to the characteristics of <Enlightenment> applied to the church through me the growth speed of players who entered our church was greatly pumped up.

    Recovery through divine power.

    The privileges of the system.

If you use low-level dungeons here to gain a variety of practical experience you can expect great results.

I grew up that way in Eden too.

“But I’m relieved that Luna is much more serious than I thought. At first I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to teach her roughly.”

“If we properly train the first batch of trainees wouldn’t we be able to relax starting from the next batch?”

    “That’s true.”

As the number of assistants increases the burden on Luna Leo and Oh Jun-woo will decrease.

Luna also agreed that new players were absolutely necessary to run the church.

“Luna-sama kept saying that she would definitely establish a curriculum this time.”

    “hmm.”

If we produce 2nd and 3rd generations through this curriculum the future of the teaching profession can be roughly drawn.

A church filled only with muscular priests whether priests or genitals.

    “The concept is clear.”

One thing was certain we would get a very healthy image.

    …maybe it’ll be surprisingly okay?

    Isn’t it?

    8.

As I watched the first batch of trainees who were reeking of sweat train and gave them some advice time passed quickly.

The best way to pass the time is to have a trainer.

So it was time to get off work so I returned home.

    “Siyeon! Big brother is here!”

    “Big brother.”

I was finally able to reunite with Siyeon.

I picked up the demonstration that was running towards me and hugged it then walked to the sofa in the living room.

    “Hey bro. You’re here?”

    “What were you doing?”

“I was folding paper cranes with Siyeon. Siyeon also folded them to make a New Year’s wish. Do you want to fold them too?”

    “Big brother let’s join too!”

    Origami paper crane.

I couldn’t refuse because Siyeon was looking at me with such bright eyes.

    “Okay let’s do it together.”

“Brother you just need to fold ten!”

“Ten is nothing. If I had known this would happen I would have brought Leo too. Uncle Leo is good at folding.”

At those words Siyeon’s eyes widened.

    “Really?”

“Of course. I told you there’s nothing Uncle Leo can’t do.”

“Hyung what are you talking about Siyeon? If you keep doing that I’ll tell grandma.”

“If you want to call Grandma I can’t help it. Sorry.”

Certainly there was nothing more comfortable and happy than talking with my family.

Should I say that it is my only refuge from my daily life which is filled with nothing but crazy people?

    Miyaaaaah-.

I lightly patted Snow White who had come up next to me.

I felt it last time too but my divine power has really increased a lot.

It was enough to continue to entrust the security of my family to him.

The fur is so soft that it makes me smile every time I stroke it.

    “Big brother?”

“You have to fold it. You have to fold it.”

I started folding the paper crane while listening to Siyeon’s urging.

It was the first time in a long time that I folded a paper crane.

Even before I went to Eden the three siblings used to sit like this and fold paper cranes before the New Year.

There wasn’t any particularly grand reason.

Because it’s something I’ve been doing since my parents were alive.

It was just that my parents always made us paper cranes before the New Year and this has continued to this day.

“I have to fold more this year than last year.”

    “why?”

“When my older brother came back he used up a lot of luck! That’s why he folded more.”

Siyeon said while diligently folding paper cranes with her hands like ferns.

“Until now I’ve made many wishes for my eldest brother to come back. Now that that wish has come true I need to make another wish!”

    “What do you wish for?”

“I hope that my whole family will be healthy next year. My older brother my younger brother my grandmother my older sister Luna my uncle Leo and my grandfather Rapart…”

It was a demonstration of saying the names of everyone who was next to me right now.

Siyeon was calling all of those people her family. And I couldn’t help but smile as I looked at her.

“Are you happy that your family has grown so much?”

“Yeah. The house isn’t quiet anymore. That’s good.”

Although Siyeon was always smiling brightly in front of me her words just now seemed to be filled with loneliness.

Even if they pretend to be brave in the end they are still kids.

As I watched Siyeon folding paper cranes with a bright smile the buried feelings of regret began to surface.

“I’m sorry I need to play with Siyeon more often.”

“My eldest brother is a hero who is saving the world right now so he must be busy! We talk about him a lot at school so I know that much.”

“That won’t work. I’ll have to find some time to visit Siyeon when she’s in class.”

Then Siyeon’s face brightened up. But that was only for a moment and Siyeon slowly shook her head.

“It’s okay my older brother is really busy. You don’t have to come.”

When you say that with an expression of great anticipation it’s not convincing at all Siyeon.

It’s so cute I could die.

If there is an opportunity like a parent observation class I definitely have to go.

I spoke to Siyeon trying to lower the corners of my lips that were hanging over my ears.

“Then I guess I can go when you’re not busy. Okay?”

    “lol.”

“Okay I’ve accepted it. Just trust me Siyeon.”

    “Everything is good hyung.”

    “why?”

“Don’t sneakily push colored paper at me while talking to Siyeon. I saw it all. Huh?”

    “I got caught.”

The end of the year for the three of us siblings was slowly coming to an end with paper cranes.

    A month passed like that.
