Somebody Stop the Pope – 111
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 111
34. It’s because of me?
1.
The next morning.
Our rogue knight Luna Reventon who had been out overnight without notice has returned to the temple.
“Your Majesty I am here.”
Luna’s complexion was better than ever wondering where on earth she had slept so soundly.
That wasn’t all.
The faint scent wafting through the office was clearly perfume. It was obvious at first glance that it was an expensive perfume.
“But what about those three bottles of wine? I’m not saying you should spend your own money but…”
“Oh this? I brought some leftovers from what my friend ordered from room service. I ordered 10 bottles but I only drank 7 and brought 3 to give to Your Majesty.”
Luna held three very luxuriously packaged bottles of wine in her hands which seemed to have the name of some hotel written on them.
“Oh I see. It’s room service wine. I didn’t know that…”
wait for a sec.
A knight staying out overnight?
At a hotel too?
“Archbishop Laparte.”
“Yes Your Majesty.”
“How can I possibly discipline our Lord Luna Reventon when he comes out so confidently?”
It is a problem that the knight moved without the Pope’s permission but it is a very serious problem that he even stayed out overnight.
It also goes against the internal rules of the Knights Templar.
But Archbishop Lapart smiled as he sipped his chrysanthemum tea.
“I sent it. The Secretary of State of the Holy See has the authority to send out knights.”
“somehow.”
He wasn’t angry even though Luna didn’t come back yesterday.
If it were normal I would have run after him and dragged him by the hair right away but I wondered why he was so calm.

“But why Archbishop Laparte with Luna?”
“I think you should ask him directly for more details.”
The old man who had thus handed over the floor to Luna began to enjoy his tea with a kind expression.
Okay. Let’s listen to the story first and then scold him.
“Let’s talk about it.”
At those words Luna smiled brightly and placed the wines on my desk. Then she naturally sat down on the chair and smiled faintly.
“I didn’t know you were so curious about my private life. You pretend not to care but you’re actually obsessed with it? I find that aspect of Your Majesty quite cute….”
“Is there anyone else out there? I’ll give you permission so bring me just one sword from the training grounds.”
“I went out with a friend. I made a new friend recently. I met him for the first time last night and he really liked me… Oh he’s from China so he really has a lot of money. China is definitely a country with a lot of money.”
Luna pointed to the wine on my desk.
“That’s something that my friend told me to take. Haha how is it? My friend has a lot of money right?”
“Luna.”
“Your Majesty.”
“It looks like you didn’t pack it for me but tore it off?”
“Hey I just asked you to take care of it. You don’t even know the details.”
How can you be the commander of a knight squad? He’s just a robber.
I let out a sigh as if the ground was going to collapse. Then I looked at Luna with a frown.
It’s not like I suddenly had a rich Chinese friend.
If so there is only one answer.
“I went to find the guys who came to our temple yesterday.”
“Correct answer!”
“Did you kill him?”
Then Luna frowned as if she was displeased.
“If someone saw me they’d think I was some kind of bloodthirsty bitch. I didn’t kill her. I just patted her. But don’t worry. No one saw her and no one got hurt.”
It was a confident voice. But to me the line was interpreted differently.
“So what you’re saying is that you silenced him and treated his wounds perfectly?”
“Oh my goodness. Lord Limen has finally granted His Holiness the grace of clairvoyance…”
“Phew.”
Li Jie She was the first person to be dispatched as the advance party to China.
In other words he is currently the representative of the Chinese awakened people.
There was no particular reason why I let her and her men go without a fight.
Because if you touch it wrong and then nitpick and hang on there’s no answer. That’s what a justification is.
For our church the mere pretext doesn’t really matter but for the government which is busy preparing for the Northeast Asia Exchange Exhibition this news will be like a bolt from the blue.
So I made a plan to catch the big one and eat it but in the process I went there myself and stirred it up?
It’s so messy.
Could it be that the reason my plans fall apart as soon as I make them is because of the people around me?
“Why are all the guys under me like this?”

“Your Majesty you really don’t know why? I can tell just by looking at you.”
Luna stared at me as she said that.
There was only one meaning in that gaze.
“It’s because of me?”
“Haha no comment.”
That can’t be. That can’t be.
This is clearly Luna’s nonsense to slander me.
“That makes sense…..”
But then suddenly I remembered my first meeting with Luna.
-Hello Apostle! My name is Luna Reventon the Lady of the Church! Please…please take good care of me! I will do my best to assist you Apostle!
Before I ascended to the throne of the Pope. The red-haired saint who greeted me with a flushed face. Luna despite her ability to feed her younger siblings was surprisingly shy.
Luna who used to be like that changed into her current personality because she hung out with me…
“…Is it really because of me?”
“What do you think Archbishop Lapart?”
Archbishop Lapart put down his teacup in response to Luna’s question. Then he looked at me and said:
“I will say nothing Your Majesty.”
The phrase “neither confirm nor deny” is usually used to mean “yes.”
Judging by the mood the situation was already tilted. In this case an emergency escape was the right answer.
I quickly changed the subject.
“Report in detail what happened. I will listen and make a judgment.”
Then Luna answered with a sinister smile.
“This time too I’ll pretend I can’t win and let it slide.”
“Please report quickly.”
“Yes yes. Who are you talking about?”
…Should I just hit him once?
2.
To summarize Luna’s story it was as follows.
“I took care of some things got some information and even received a gift.”
Luna added that she ‘definitely took care of things’.
Luna’s words that she had taken care of it for sure were very reliable at least in this case.
Because it’s like saying that you’ve definitely imprinted fear in them so that they’ll never show their teeth again.
Besides Luna is not so sloppy as to leave traces like CCTV footage. She probably completely removed the evidence.
“Do you think someone as career-oriented as Lee Ji would report to his superiors that he was caught and told a lot of information? He doesn’t seem to have the guts to do that.”
“What about his subordinates?”
“Of course I don’t know anything. I let you sleep until I left the hotel.”
It was a perfect crime.
At this point it seems like he’d be better suited to being a contractor rather than a paladin.
I looked at Archbishop Laparte with an expression that said “Please scold me instead.” But Archbishop Laparte smiled as if he was satisfied.
“Isn’t it wonderful? Those who desecrate the temple deserve to pay the price. How much more so are they demanding that we submit to them? This is something that cannot be left alone.”
“…yes.”
“There is no need to worry Your Majesty. If you really don’t like Li Jie you can just send Luna once more.”
It was indeed a ‘White Terror’-like answer.
A good mediator is a piece of shit.
Let’s just give up. It’s easier if you give up.
I let out a deep sigh and turned my gaze to Baek Seol-hwa who had been sitting quietly next to me for some time.
Snow White entered the office while Luna was talking. She had an appointment with me at the temple today. Is there someone you want to introduce to me?
Whether Luna Archbishop Lapart me or the three of us were joking around or not she was silently making ice flowers bloom with her fingertips.
It seemed like training to fine-tune one’s magical power.
“Isn’t it noisy?”
“very.”
“Did you hear what Luna said earlier?”
It is said that the Chinese advance party including Li Jie entered South Korea a month early in order to recruit S-class hunters.
Snow White was also said to be on that list but she didn’t seem to have any particular thoughts about it.
“Even if you had offered to recruit me I would have rejected it right away.”
“Why? Because of the broadcast?”
“Rather than that…..”
She paused for a moment then created a small bird out of ice. Then she looked at me with an expressionless face.
“I have no intention of committing suicide.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Standing opposite you is suicide. Abandoning my people and going into the pit of hellfire?”
As expected Snow White was smart.
3.
The person that Baekseolhwa wanted to introduce was none other than a reporter.
“I thought it would be helpful to have a reporter who could report on the church’s news professionally. He may be a strange person but he has a definite ability. The two of you should talk.”
After finishing her explanation in a cool manner Snow White left the room and Luna also followed her out of the office calling her “Refreshing!”
Archbishop Lapart also left the room saying he needed to visit the temple.
In the office that was once bustling with people there were now only two people left.
I cleared my throat a few times and then slowly looked at the man in front of me.
“hmm.”
He was dressed neatly in a suit and had his hair carefully styled. He gave off the impression that he had put in a lot of effort to the point where anyone who saw him would think he had come out to see a doctor.
Of course it would be proper to dress up when meeting for the first time but what on earth does that glaring look in his horn-rimmed glasses mean?
Moreover if you look closely you can see tears forming in his eyes.
It was also unusual to sense his <faith> in our church.
Should we start with a brief greeting?
“Hello…..”
Before I could even finish my greeting an extreme reaction erupted from the other side.
“Ahhhhhhh! I never thought this day would come. I am grateful to Lord Limen for allowing me to meet His Holiness the Pope like this. I don’t know how long I have waited for this day in my life!”
The man suddenly stood up from his seat.
And then he continued speaking while bowing 90 degrees towards me.
“Your Holiness! I don’t know if you remember but I heard your words at the previous Guro-gu Gate press conference! My name is Seo Tae-ho a reporter for Sejong Ilbo. It is an honor to meet you again.”
“Ah! The reporter who was so enthusiastic back then?”
“Do you remember me?”
“Of course. It was my first press conference so there’s no way I wouldn’t remember it.”
The reporter who looked at me with hot eyes when I held my first press conference.
I could remember him of course because he was the one who had shown me enthusiastic support even in the early days of my return.
He was speechless for a while after hearing my answer.
“…Reporter Seo Tae-ho?”
because
“Ohhhhhhh. Thank you so much. Thank you for remembering. I’m so honored. Really…..”
Because I kept shedding tears.
They were not tears of sadness. They were hot tears that flowed from overwhelming emotion.
Seo Tae-ho took out a tablet PC from his briefcase and handed it to me while shedding tears.
And he said in a wet voice.
“I’ve been working really hard since that day. I wanted more people to know about the greatness of the Limen Church… Hehe.”
The tablet PC he handed me had the titles of the articles he had written so far neatly arranged.
<Why the Limen Church Must Become the Hope of the World>
<Why China which tried to rule the world is shedding tears of blood because of the Limen sect>
<Japan was shocked China was shocked America was shocked!>
<The Great Miracle of Pope Kim Si-woo of the Limen Church! Turning the World Upside Down. (Overseas Reactions)>
<The Potential of the Limen Church. Why Experts Around the World Are Shocked>
The countless headlines of nationalistic or even rebellious articles that follow.
I could tell intuitively just by looking at the headlines of those articles.
‘He’s seriously crazy!’
That was my second meeting with Seo Tae-ho who would go on to become our church’s greatest missionary.
Our Pope please stop this
