Somebody Stop the Pope – 104

Episode 104
3.
[A gate will be created in the current area!]
The gate which had been growing in size starting with a message with a red border began to become fully activated.
“Everyone get ready!”
“The main monsters of the gate have been confirmed! The type is Demonic Beast! It’s a Great Worm!”
“Don’t approach right away! The returnee will come out. The real subjugation will begin after contact with the returnee!”
The hunters observed the situation without taking any rash action.
At the gate fanged worm-like creatures began crawling out.
A demon with a body size similar to that of a single-family home.
Great Worm.
I stretched my body slightly as I watched the endless stream of crawling bugs.
“They are threatening guys crawling out of the so-called B-class gate. It is dangerous if they dig into the ground. They erode the ground and their body fluids are highly acidic so they can cause serious damage to buildings.”
“Great Worm. It is a demonic species in the database. However it cannot be easily moved. At the gate where the disaster-level returner appears you must block the monster at the first line of defense.”
“That’s smart.”
If you send in hunters recklessly there is a chance that they will be swept away by returnees coming out of the gate.
I think it’s a good strategy.
Even if the Great Worm hides underground it won’t be a big problem as long as I’m here.
If you want you can just hit the ground with your divine power and holy fire. In addition unlike other types of monsters the Great Worm is clearly a demon.
[Passive skill <Enemy of the Demon> is activated.]
The demons can’t keep their wits about them in front of me. In fact most of the Great Worms that crawled out of the gate were in a state of atrophy.
Great worms are a secondary issue.
The turning point of this gate was the attitude of the returnees who emerged from that gate.
“Come over.”
I muttered as I looked at the powerful magical power that began to pass through the gate and Director Kim nodded with a gulping sound.
“Siwoo in the worst case scenario….”

“There are still many citizens who haven’t been able to evacuate. I know that too so don’t worry.”
For me it was the first time I witnessed a disaster-level returnee come over.
When I look back on the process of how I came to Earth there was nothing particularly outstanding.
He came to Earth using Limen’s power and made another contract with Limen.
That’s it.
He returned quietly as if he had just come out for a drink and obediently cooperated with the Department of Ability Management.
But the scene unfolding before my eyes now seemed to be too much of a stretch to simply call it ‘drinking’.
Phage support support-.
Woof woof woof woof!
Red sparks flew all over the huge gate. It was incomparably more ferocious than when Archbishop Lapart and Toby had crossed over last time.
A red spot that started to spread from the center of the gate quickly consumed the purple color of the gate.
It looked enough to be called greedy.
Phage phage phage!
In the blink of an eye the purple spots had completely consumed the entire gate.
And after a while.
Ttukbuk.
Someone began to walk slowly out of the red gate.
For that moment the Great Worm’s roar and the hunters’ screams stopped. In the tension that seemed to stop time the only thing that resonated was the sound of someone’s shoes.
The sound of footsteps echoed for a long time. And when it stopped a boy with a young face was already standing behind the gate that was already dyed red.
“It’s ambiguous.”
I wonder if it’s right to call him a boy. Somewhere between a boy and a young man.
Even at the high estimate it’s a face value that would make it likely to be in the early 20s.
The appearance of the guy who couldn’t get the boyish look off his face was quite plausible.
A burgundy coat that extends to the knees over a black polar fleece lining.
There was no sign of any disturbance in her pale white skin and her black eyes that looked indifferent.
However it was only possible to guess that he wielded a sword through the magical power he felt from the guy and the black scabbard hanging from his waist.
“Negotiation. Start.”
Director Kim quietly relayed the order. Then the leader of the negotiation team waiting next to us lifted the loudspeaker.
Even if you’re a negotiating team you don’t approach disaster-level returnees?
It was a very wise decision.
This is much better than just approaching it blindly and getting killed.
As the Great Worms’ roars had stopped the voice of the negotiator was heard loudly through the loudspeaker.
“Welcome back to the Republic of Korea. Are you a citizen of the Republic of Korea? If so please raise your right arm.”
At those words the returnee raised his right arm without any change in expression.
I looked at the scene and asked Director Kim a question in a casual manner.
“Is it good news?”
“…First of all it’s a good thing that you can understand Korean. Some returnees don’t even understand Korean. At least you can communicate.”

“Then that’s good news.”
First of all we can judge that the first button has been buttoned up well.
But what is this sticky ominous feeling I’ve been feeling since a while ago? I can’t help but frown.
“Promote negotiations. Keep going.”
“Yes I understand.”
Now that you’ve confirmed that you can speak Korean the next step is to start a full-fledged conversation.
“We would like you to prove that you have no hostile intentions. We formally request that you disarm. If you disarm according to our instructions we will proceed with the full process. We promise not to cause any harm to you.”
To the inspector the sword was like his own body. It was definitely not a simple object that could be easily put down just because he was told to.
However the returnee obediently unsheathed his sword at the request of the negotiator and placed it at his feet. Then he slowly distanced himself from the weapon.
That wasn’t all.
Without being asked he knelt on the floor and put his hands behind his back.
An act of expressing a complete lack of will to fight.
After seeing this the negotiating team immediately moved on to the next procedure.
“Thank you for your cooperation! Our staff will now approach you and take you to a safe place. Is that okay?”
Nod.
The man nodded obediently to the question. On the surface he seemed to have no ulterior motive and was very cooperative with the government.
And Director Kim seeing that relaxed his tension slightly and said.
“He is much more cooperative than Mr. Ryu Jin-young three years ago. I had a hard time getting Mr. Ryu Jin-young to let his guard down but he surprisingly complies. Maybe I was worried for nothing.”
“It is dangerous to set the flag carelessly Director Kim.”
The four-person negotiating team including the negotiating leader began to move forward cautiously.
The Great Worms already emerging from the gate make their way through startling them as they approach.
A path was opened up between the hideous demons to reach the man.
“…Is it Siwoo by any chance?”
“no.”
“Then why are those monsters….”
“It’s not just me that they’re afraid of.”
Even the Great Worm known for his ferocity among the demons was overwhelmed by that man.
The negotiating team members slowly moved forward while maintaining their composure as much as possible.
Step by step.
He walked forward with such careful and deliberate steps and the man remained still on his knees until the negotiating party came within range.
Was the gut feeling I had earlier really wrong?
‘…That can’t be.’
My intuition has never been wrong but that man was so obedient that it made even me doubt my own.
But that was then.
[The opponent has been fully synchronized to the system of <Dimension: Earth>. Your skills will be applied normally accordingly.]
[Active skill <Will to Destroy Evil> is activated.]
[Listing the evil deeds of player <Lee Eun-hyeok>.]
[<Mass Massacre> etc. ???]
[Warning! This target is a person who has accumulated countless bloody calamities. <Will to Destroy Evil> recommends immediate judgment!]
A number of message windows suddenly appeared before my eyes.
At the same time a red aura began to be observed behind the back of the man Lee Eun-hyeok who was seen from afar.
As soon as I saw it I told Director Kim urgently.
“Take it out.”
“yes?”
“Get those people behind me.”
“Siwoo what is that now….”
This was before Director Kim had even finished speaking.
A red light flashed in Lee Eun-hyeok’s eyes as he held his hands behind his back. At the same time the scabbard that was far away was sucked into the guy’s hand.
Eunhyuk Lee pulled the sword out of its scabbard without any hesitation and I immediately moved my body.
A fleeting moment that lasts less than a second.
Kwaaaaaaaah!
” Look at this chew. ”
I quickly closed the distance and frowned while blocking the longsword’s blade with my hand.
Booooooooo!
The sword wind from the guy’s sword strike tears everything around me apart.
The entire negotiation team of the Ability Management Department who had been cautiously approaching just a moment ago fell backwards blood spraying everywhere.
The only good thing is that they barely managed to survive.
If they had taken even one more step they would have been torn to pieces.
Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
A crimson magical power ripples along the sword blade blocked in my hand.
Every time the magic power wavered a terrible scream rang in my ears and human faces in agony were projected onto the sword.
These were horrific phenomena that would have instantly consumed anyone with weak mental strength.
“You can see it too.”
Lee Eun-hyeok’s voice was heard beyond the sword.
The guy’s voice seeping through the gaps in the terrible screams was no different from that of a ghost.
“You guessed right. These are the spirits of the victims whose heads were cut off by my sword. Exactly ten years’ worth of spirits. Isn’t it thrilling? Isn’t it fun just to look at? I thought you were dying to show off to the humans of Earth.”
It was dangerous.
Yoo Se-hyeok who you faced at Ground Zero? Or Lee Se-hee the mastermind behind the terrorism?
No matter who I brought I couldn’t dare compare them to this guy.
Beyond the guy’s empty eyes only one thing was visible.
A hatred that even twists the soul.
All I felt from this guy was endless hatred.
“You don’t know how long I’ve waited for this day. Do you know how many people I’ve killed just for this day? I’ve killed them all. I’m going to kill more when I get back to Earth!”
The crimson magic power stirred once again using Eunhyuk Lee’s hatred as a medium.
Paaaaaaaang-!
The recoil from the sword pushed my body backwards and Lee Eun-hyeok quickly readjusted his posture without missing the gap.
There was no longer any expressionless face to be found on the guy.
Lee Eun-hyuk was smiling.
“If it weren’t for you I would have started off feeling good so why are you holding me back? Who are you? Who are you to stop me from being happy? Why are you holding me back when I finally have a chance to be happy?”
“You look like a little kid but you keep whining so fucking much.”
I raised the corners of my mouth as I put on my black gloves.
“Negotiations have broken down. I have one request from the government. Neutralization is the top priority but if neutralization is not possible kill immediately.”
Room for enlightenment?
It would be easier to reform the demons than to reform a kid like that.
Those who have already been consumed by hatred to the very core of their soul will never return.
I felt a little dirty for some reason.
“That’s why I told you not to raise the flag Director Kim.”
I raised the corners of my lips and waved my finger at Eunhyuk Lee.
“Usually in dramas or novels chuunibyou is considered a death flag.”
“What are you talking about?”
“What are you talking about? You’re no different.”
