Somebody Stop the Pope – 10
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 10
5.
Until five minutes ago Gu Min-soo had thought that this dungeon would become the grave of himself and his colleagues.
The moment that unknown monster incapacitated himself and transformed into his own form the ending of this tragedy was already decided.
There was nothing he could do in that situation.
I just want to die quickly.
But the monster deliberately kept him alive as if it was enjoying his reaction.
That wasn’t all.
He showed him the whole process right before his eyes as if letting him watch how he deceived her.
In the process Gu Min-soo could only cry as he watched his colleagues who had believed in him being replaced by monsters one by one.
But his screams reached no one and the more he cried out the more the monster laughed and mocked him.
Those were times filled with nothing but despair.
Those were the moments when being alive was more painful than ever when there was absolutely no hope to be found.
Hwaruk-!
“Kkaaaaaaah!”
A miracle happened before him.
Gu Min-su who had never once believed in miracles in his life could only say that it was a miracle.
Standing before his eyes was a man he had never seen before wearing strange clothes.
A man who at first glance appears to be wearing a wedding dress.
The white flames that rose from the man’s body were consuming the entire body of the monster that had been imitating him and constantly deceiving him.
‘Is this a dream?’
Gu Min-soo muttered to himself as he watched the scene.
Maybe this too is just another bad prank from that monster.
But soon he was forced to deny his own thoughts.
The warmth coming from those flames was too warm to be called a dream.
The monster was screaming without stopping but it was so warm that it reminded him of his mother’s embrace.

And riding on that warm air the man’s voice rang in my ears.
“Mr. Gu Min-soo. Since you are the one who suffered the most in this dungeon I will give you a special choice.”
Gu Min-su couldn’t help but be startled by his words.
“Can you see me?”
Until now no one has recognized him.
Even his colleagues who had been through thick and thin with him for five years looked at him like a monster perhaps because they had been fooled by the monster’s tricks.
So no matter how much he shouted for them to run away they didn’t hear him.
But the man in front of me was different.
He was smiling bitterly looking straight into her eyes.
“Because I have good eyesight. Oh I guess I’m a little late in introducing myself. I’m Inwook’s older brother.”
“Inwook…..”
It was the name of my beloved younger sibling.
He is a bright and admirable guy who works hard to edit his YouTube videos to support his younger sibling and grandmother despite his young age.
I also heard that you have an older brother.
But I also heard the sad story that his older brother went missing five years ago. So who is that man who claims to be In-wook’s older brother right in front of me?
Gu Min-soo thought about it for a moment but then stopped thinking about it.
Because worrying about it wouldn’t change anything.
The man nodded slightly at Gu Min-soo’s reaction and continued speaking while still holding the monster’s collar.
“Minsu has two choices.”
Gu Min-soo could predict what the man would say next.
It was something I had guessed from the moment I was taken over by that monster.
That’s why he nodded and spoke before the man could even speak.
“Kill me. I knew it from the moment you took me away from that monster. I would rather die at the hands of a fellow human being…”
“You have an incredibly imaginative mind brother. Please listen to what people have to say.”
The man smiled as if he found Gu Min-soo’s words amusing and continued talking.
“First. Break this guy’s head in one go. Second. Burn him to death with a holy fire like I’m doing now. By the way I recommend the second method. It’s much more painful. As you can see this guy can feel pain.”
Whoosh whoosh-!
As the man spoke the flames grew even more intense than before.
“Kkaaaak!”
The monster’s screams also became louder.
The pure white flames soon spread to where Gu Min-soo was and enveloped his body but did not cause any harm to him.
It was a stark contrast to the monster writhing in pain.
If this isn’t a miracle then what is?
Gu Min-su just shed tears as he watched the miracle that happened to him.
He himself couldn’t tell whether these were tears of relief at having saved his life or tears of self-reproach for not being able to protect his comrades right before his eyes but it didn’t matter.
Because in this miraculous moment there was only one thing he wanted.
Gu Min-su bit his lip hard enough to draw blood and then shouted at the man.

“Painfully. Please kill me painfully!”
The man smiled with satisfaction as he responded to her cries which were filled with countless emotions.
“I like your order. After all demons are best killed by burning. Then I will send it to you using the second method. I usually like it rare but this time I will make it extra well-done.”
Whoosh whoosh!
“Kkiaaaah! Kkiaaaahh …
The monster’s body crumbled in the raging flames and its screams continued for a long time before it was completely incinerated.
Gu Min-su hoped that the monster’s painful death would bring some comfort to his comrades who died unjustly.
How much time has passed like that?
The monster’s body lay on the floor completely reduced to ashes.
And then as Gu Min-soo was blankly staring at it a message window with a white border that he had never seen before appeared before.
[You have been saved through the Holy Flame.]
[You have achieved the hidden achievement <Salvation>.]
[The gods of the other world respond to your tears.]
A moment later after that message window appeared a dazzlingly beautiful woman appeared from the remaining pure white flames.
goddess.
Why was that word the only thing that came to mind for him who had been an atheist his entire life?
She rose from the flames and said as she gently hugged Gu Min-soo who was standing there blankly.
“It’s not your fault.”
“iced coffee….”
The miraculous moment was still continuing.
6.
The situation ended on its own after the doppelganger was completely incinerated.
[You have cleared the Abyss Dungeon. The dungeon will automatically disappear after 1 hour.]
[You have obtained 50 <Divine Points> as a dungeon clear reward.]
[You have completed the quest <Salvation>. You will receive 100 <Divine Points> as a reward.]
“Tsk.”
I clicked my tongue as I scanned the message window.
Aside from the compensation the situation itself was not very pleasant.
My mouth felt even more bitter as I thought about how I had felt when I left the house in the morning.
I felt that if I had come right away yesterday there would have been fewer casualties.
Of course the worst was avoided.
It was a blessing in disguise that they managed to save as many people as possible before the doppelganger’s play ended.
For now we’ve sorted out the dangerous situation and what’s left is equally important.
“I thought it would take years for us to meet again because you were shouting so urgently before we broke up. Did you think we would see each other again so soon?”
“It’s all thanks to our Pope’s hard work! I told you I’d see you again soon. Hehe.”
“Usually in that situation doesn’t it take at least a year? I didn’t know it was three days.”
“It feels so good to see Siwoo’s face like this again!”
For some reason Limen appeared in the holy fire I had just created.
And as soon as Limen appeared he treated Minsu’s wounds and Minsu fainted.
It wasn’t surprising to me as it was a common phenomenon for people who were first exposed to divine power.
I asked Limen as I sat down on the folding chair.
“How much do you have this time?”
“Um this time about 5 minutes? It’s possible because the environment here is a bit unique. Strangely a dimensional rift was open only here. I felt Siwoo’s holy fire through that rift and came right away. Like this.”
It’s a dimensional gap.
I wonder if it has something to do with the Abyss Dungeon.
“I’ll have to look into that myself.”
“You pretend not to like it on the outside but on the inside you want to see my face often? I told you Siwoo is always like that.”
“Stop talking nonsense. Don’t you really not like treating humans directly? Why did you treat Minsu?”
Even in Eden it was quite rare for Limen to manifest himself and I’ve only seen a few instances of him using his power to heal someone after appearing.
Limen answered my question with a gentle smile.
“Because he seems like a good person. There is no bad person among those who blame themselves for the death of a comrade. And above all isn’t he someone who is part of Si-woo’s plan?”
“I guess that’s what it is.”
“Siwoo is trying hard in a wasteland so we should help anyone who can help him.”
As he said that Limen sat down on the chair next to me and made eye contact with me.
Since she is a goddess I think she is really pretty when I just look at her like this.
Limen was the one who kidnapped me to the other world but in the end her choice was right.
What if she hadn’t taken me to Eden?
It could have been me who died today after being tricked by a doppelganger in this dungeon.
“Siu.”
“say.”
“It may have been a short time but how do you think Siwoo’s hometown has changed since the old days?”
I frowned at the question for a moment then sighed and answered.
“It’s weird. From one to ten.”
“There’s one thing I couldn’t tell you back then because I didn’t have time. Listen carefully.”
Limen held my hand like last time and continued speaking cautiously.
“The causality that applies to the entire dimension also applies to beings with divinity. Therefore according to that causality divinities from other dimensions cannot exert influence on Earth.”
“Then what the hell are we? You just cured Minsu with your power.”
“So you have to be careful from now on.”
She continued speaking with a worried expression.
“Causality is like scales. The fact that Earth’s causality has approved my contract with Siwoo means that something heavy is placed on the other side of the scale.”
“Is that something I should learn about in the future about that heavy thing?”
“Unfortunately.”
“…I understand.”
To put it simply he’s telling me not to even think about slacking off.
It was definitely a bit disturbing that monsters suddenly appeared on a previously healthy Earth.
Anyway it seems like one more homework has been added.
I let out a sigh of frustration and looked at Limen as I spoke.
“okay.”
“Aren’t you angry?”
“Why should I be angry at you? You’ve taken such good care of the aftermath so there’s no reason to be angry. If someone saw me they’d think I had a personality disorder.”
“Hmm.”
“What is that silence?”
“Siwoo make your own decision.”
Limen smiled playfully and then stood up from his chair again.
I guess it’s time to go already.
I also feel sad that it is time to part ways again perhaps because we have been together for 10 years.
“Let’s take a picture together next time.”
“A photo? What is that?”
“There is something like that. Capturing things as they are. If you just have a picture of yourself the believers might come walking in.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment Siwoo. Thank you.”
Limen smiled broadly and waved at me.
“Next time I want to see you again in a bright place rather than a dark one like this. Do you know how to do that?”
“What should I do?”
“Of course you should make a temple for me so that I can easily appear. And increase the number of believers.”
Building a temple for Limen in South Korea….
That doesn’t seem like it will be an easy task either.
The land prices in good places are so expensive.
“See you later Siu.”
“Come in.”
Hurrruruk-.
Limen disappeared into flames just as he had come into flames and I stared at the spot where Limen had disappeared for a long time in silence.
How long did I stay silent like that?
“Ugh.”
Soon Minsu who had been passed out on the floor woke up shaking as if he had been shocked and I greeted him happily.
“Are you awake? How are you feeling?”
“Goddess… What about the Goddess?”
“What a shame. He just left.”
Minsu blinked several times at my answer. Then he asked me in an earnest voice.
“Will I be able to see the Goddess again?”
I couldn’t help but smile when I heard his question.
And after a while he offered the chair that Limen had been sitting in just a moment ago and said:
“Well let’s find out slowly while sharing some good words from now on.”
Our Pope please stop this
