Chapter 41 The Altar-The Northern School Tomb Raider’s Notes
by Jessie@AFNCCAs we watched the last of them go in, we started to move.
At first, the cave was so small and short that we all had to walk cat-like, and if we were not careful to straighten up we would hit our heads.
There’s no longer any sign of those things, so we pick up speed.
As you walk, the space grows larger.
A door-like exit appeared ahead, with a faint light coming through.
“This is the end?” Chen Jiansheng asked.
Sister Hong shook her head, “I’m not sure, hurry over and take a look, don’t lose them.”
I’m flexible and the fastest runner.
I ended up not braking when I got to the front and almost fell off.
Debris rolled down, and Chen Jiansheng yanked me from behind in one fell swoop.
“What are you panicking about, kid, don’t want to die!”
I took two steps back in shock.
Right now, from this cave to the ground below, it was at least twenty meters high.
There was a rope braided with vines dangling down, and it was clear that it was the only way to get down.
“Chen Logistics, with your thin arms and legs, can you do it?” Chen Jiansheng twisted his head and asked.
“Just don’t fall to your death yourself, you don’t need to worry about others yet,” Sister Hong disliked him.
“All right then,” he said as he grabbed the vines, “I’ll slide down first then and scout the way for you.”
You could tell by the way he slid down that this was a veteran, knowing to use his legs to stomp against the wall as a way to adjust his rate of descent.
At a height of over twenty meters, it was only five or six minutes before and after he slid to the bottom.
Chen Jiansheng loosened the rope below, and he waved his arm at Sister Hong and I, signaling for us to come down.
Sister Hong was the second to go down, she didn’t go down as fast as Chen Jiansheng, but it was very steady, and you could tell that she also had a bottom.
Compared to the two of them, I was a bit clumsy. Because of my lack of skill, my hands hurt from the vines during the slide.
When I came down and looked at it, the palms of my hands were worn through with skin.
Seeing my misery, Chen Jiansheng laughed at me and said: “Kid in the future to practice more, when sliding the rope to use leg strength, do not dead skin white grasping so tight.”
The three of us continued on.
There was a lot of space down here, with walls that left traces of man-made excavations, and two stone pillars standing in the center, with a step leading down to the ground floor in the middle of the pillars. It was very dark.
“Is the flashlight still on Yunfeng,” Sister Hong asked.
I turned on my flashlight and tried it.
“There’s still a bit of electricity left Sister Red, I don’t think it’ll last more than an hour.”
“Well,” she frowned at the steps leading down to the ground before her, “go down there.”
With that, we started down the steps.
When we came down, at first we had our flashlights on, but as we walked, the bright light of a torch appeared ahead of us.
Chen Jiansheng cursed: “Really fucking evil things, I did not expect to use fire, I do not know if I will cook, mandrill cooking, I really want to taste what it is like.”
After he finished speaking, I don’t know what happened, for a moment, I suddenly saw him as my second brother, and after I came back to my senses I felt a little hard in my heart, because my second brother was also like that, with his mouth ungoverned, saying whatever came to his mind regardless of the occasion and circumstances.
Feet paved stone road, along the road only a few minutes, red sister suddenly voiced a reminder: “First don’t go, listen, do you hear?”
