    Episode 499

Simon and his group safely arrived at Tarados’ Harlem.

Simon looked around and was surprised to see that the environment was much worse than he expected.

The people of Harlem sat on the streets like desiccated zombies waiting to die. He was in a state of extreme malnutrition with his ribs clearly visible all over his body.

The buildings are old the alleys are extremely narrow and the dried rivers are clogged with trash.

It is not uncommon to see dead bodies on the streets. There are flies and wild dogs flocking around but no one wants to chase them away.

A city with no hope in sight.

    That was Tarados’ Harlem.

[for a moment! for a moment! for a moment! Why did you come to a place like this!]

The necklace shook and Carl’s clone shouted.

[It seems like my body’s senses have become weaker than when I first entered Tarados! Haven’t we come too far?]

“I guess I have to get some information first or go.”

As soon as you enter a closed territory where contact with the outside world is cut off collecting information is not an option but a necessity.

If Carl’s alter ego could tell in real time whether he was getting closer or further away from the main body it would have been easier to find but now that I see it I couldn’t feel it in such detail.

Now is the time to step out and listen to the vivid stories of local people. Erzsebet is also scattered and gathering information with the spiders.

‘It would be nice to meet a client in this town.’

The client requested help from Keygen students.

I wanted to know who and what kind of person they were.

Also he probably knows the situation in Tarados better than anyone else. I thought that finding that person was the ‘key’ to this mission evaluation.

“I can’t believe this town has changed so much…”

The coachman who said Tarados was his hometown was looking around as if he could not believe it.

“When Tarados was in its heyday it was a city of vitality and youth where many adventurers and merchants came and went. It’s hard to find any traces of it now.”

    “The heyday.”

Kazan who was walking next to Simon looked back and said.

“This must have been the time when the gold mine dungeon still existed?”

    “Yes that’s right.”

    Simon also looked back.

    “Is that dungeon still there?”

“That can’t be right. I heard that the dungeon disappeared without a trace after the dungeon owner died…”

    Taaat!

    It was then.

A scruffy little girl who looks like she’s about 7 or 8 years old pops out! He jumped out pushed the coachman and went into the alley. The coachman stumbled and fell to the ground.

    “Are you okay?”

    Simon quickly approached him.

    “Yes yes! I’m fine.”

    “More than that.”

Kazan continued while scratching the scar on his right side.

    “Let’s check your belongings first.”

    “yes?”

The coachman got up from his seat again and fumbled with himself. Then he made a surprised noise and started looking at his clothes again.

“There is also a money bag!”

    Ta-da-da-da-da!

The little girl said ha! ha! I was out of breath and going deeper into the alley.

A narrow alley where most adults end up getting stuck in the walls. With her size it was possible to run here.

    ‘it’s okay! it’s okay!’

There was a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

    ‘With this money my brother…!’

    “hi.”

A girl turned the corner of the alley and screamed in surprise. A blue-haired boy suddenly appeared squatting down and smiling sweetly.

“Stealing is bad. Won’t you give it back?”

‘what! what! How did you catch up?’

She took a step back then turned around and ran away.

But it didn’t last long. There was also a man blocking the path behind him.

“It’s strange not to encounter pickpockets in Harlem.”

He was a very scary person with many scars on his body. Even in this narrow alley it was slithering like a snake. It looked like a mollusk not a person.

    “ruler.”

    Simon spread his palms.

    “Give it back.”

    “I hate poetry!”

She crouched down holding the money bag tightly in her arms. It was a complete defensive posture. Simon let out an embarrassed smile.

    “Now wait a minute!”

    Ugh! omg! Huh!

I heard the voice of the coachman who arrived late breathing heavily. He was looking at the girl.

    “lisa! Are you Lisa?”

Only then did the pickpocket girl raise her head.

    “Oh uncle?”

    * * *

“Ahaha! I’m sorry that your house is so shabby! Although there is nothing please rest in peace!”

Simone and Kazan the coachman were invited by a pickpocket girl and entered her house.

Simon couldn’t help but be shocked.

‘People live in a place like this?’

Originally it was a space that was not a room but was forced to be created by partially exposing the walls of the building.

It was a poor and dirty environment. There was a musty smell everywhere and the thin mattress on the floor was torn apart. The wallpaper was tattered and the windows had served their purpose a long time ago.

    “Would you like some water?”

She brought water in an old cup. Simon who saw the water was yellow and there was something strange floating around smiled and declined.

    “lisa! Where is the bathroom?”

The coachman shouted as if he was in a hurry.

“If you go out of the house and walk next to Ugi you will come across a dried-up fountain. If you turn right from there you will find a public restroom!”

    “……Public restroom?”

“yes! Everyone in this town uses it! If you’re lucky you’ll be able to get it in just three hours! If you’re in a hurry just cum anywhere on the floor!”

Simon smiled bitterly. It was a little heartbreaking to hear a girl of that age talking about cum and all that as if it were normal.

The coachman seemed resigned and walked to the public restroom while Kazan was looking around the house.

Now only Simon and the pickpocket girl are left.

“What is your relationship with the coachman?”

“We lived in the same town for a while. I was close with your kids.”

When she said that she hinted.

“Those kids are all dead. Even the lady. I had no idea where he went after that but I never thought I’d meet him here.”

The atmosphere suddenly calmed down. Simon sweatdropped and looked around.

“Are you living alone in this house?”

    “I live with my brother.”

    Her expression became even darker.

“I was captured by the soldiers.”

    “…….”

No matter what I say it’s all just despair and the conversation doesn’t continue.

Earlier I understood why people on the streets of Harlem were blankly without any hope.

Fortunately this pickpocket girl called Lisa was good at communication and lived tenaciously. In this Tarados she was one of the strange ones.

“Why was my brother captured by the soldiers?”

She raised her head and looked at Simon’s face. Although she seemed wary of him as an outsider Simon did not avoid her eyes and waited earnestly.

“……You must never tell other people.”

    “I promise.”

    “My brother-”

    Her mouth opened.

“I went outside to look for help and got caught.”

    “outside?”

“huh. To the high people outside of Tarados. I wanted to let you know what was happening to us. Originally Tarados residents were prohibited from contacting the outside world.”

Simon adjusted his posture and sat down.

“How did you ask for help?”

“I don’t know the details either.”

The girl lowered her head sullenly.

“Now soon people from above will come and help us. He said he would inform the entire Dark Alliance of what was happening in Tarados. That’s what my brother said.”

I’m slowly getting the hang of it.

Simon talked with her and tried hard to get the answer he wanted.

Soon the girl opened her heart and treated Simon comfortably like a friend. It seemed like she was really hungry for someone to talk to.

    “Your brother is really amazing.”

“of course! My brother was scouted by the revolutionary group!”

The existence of a revolutionary group.

“I saved money. He said he kept collecting. To seek help outside.”

    Lisa said.

“Other revolutionary men said that my brother betrayed the revolutionary group! But it’s different! My brother said that this revolutionary group was corrupt and that this was the only way so he took the money he had raised and went out of Tarados!”

    “The way to seek help-”

Simon who had now completely figured it out took out the request form and opened it.

“Are you talking about requesting it from Keygen?”

    Her eyes widened.

“Keygen? Keygen? huh! Have I heard that somewhere before! I think I heard my brother muttering that!”

    Now it’s clear.

The client is a member of the Tarados Revolutionary Group.

And he is Lisa’s older brother.

    “lisa.”

Simon showed a student ID card with the Kizen mark in his arms.

“I am the person your brother called.”

    * * *

After a while the coachman who had gone to Lisa’s house to use Simon and Kazan’s bathroom and Erzsebet who had gone to gather information also returned.

The house was rather small so we had to sit close together.

“Now then I will tell you the information that the spiders and I brought!”

Erzsebet transformed into a pink-haired schoolgirl pretended to be cheerful by making a V shape with her fingers. Simone knowing her age just laughed.

Behind the wall we made a cloth made of spiders and posted the words [Revolutionary Countermeasures Meeting] which created quite a determined atmosphere.

“But the people in this village don’t even talk to us. How did you get the information?”

“Hoho! An attractive woman has many ways to relax people’s guard.”

    “……What method is that?”

Kazan whose pride was hurt after failing to gather information in Harlem asked.

“For example tying it to a spider web and hanging it high up?”

Erzsebet shrugged her shoulders and answered.

Anyway from the information she brought it seemed that Tarados was currently divided into three forces.

Ganeth a black wolf who oversees a group of thieves called the Ganeth Guild.

The lord who commands the territory’s regular troops and his subordinate the iron-blooded general Amin.

    And the third.

“combination. They are said to be those who call themselves.”

Erzsebet narrowed her eyes at Simon.

There was no doubt that the ‘society’ was the crazy force that held the sword.

“Nothing is known. No one knows their identities. However it is said that he came into this territory one day and maintained a close relationship with the lord.”

    “It’s suspicious.”

    Simon said.

“I’ve heard the name from time to time.”

    The coachman suddenly intervened.

“When I was working as a coachman in Ebrun I saw a lot of strange items being distributed outside and it seems like they were all bought there.”

    Lisa also said something.

“I heard what my brother said out of habit. Death is the dark side of the situation! The organization is controlling the two forces behind the scenes!”

    “Really?”

    amazing.

Lisa’s brother and Simon’s client seemed to have already reached the truth.

“huh! The local soldiers capture the residents who have committed crimes and the thieves kidnap the residents. But both sides said they had no facilities for holding prisoners!”

    Kazan received the word.

“And in fact the conclusion is that taking and using those prisoners was a ‘determination’. Those who instigated the bandits to kidnap orphaned homeless and mentally retarded children outside of Tarados were probably a ‘scheme’.”

“There are artificial chimera monsters wandering around the Tarados wilderness. I’m sure.”

They are the ones who captured the sword and experimented on it.

All the clues obtained so far lead to one thing.

“The culprit commits suicide. Smash them and it’s over. but.”

    Erzsebet spread her arms.

“I guess it won’t be easier than you think. To catch them you must first deal with the lord and the Garness Guild. Tarados is sturdier than you think.”

The method they took was as follows.

The ‘Society’ supports the lord and the Garness Guild with enormous financial power.

The Ganeth Guild roams the wilderness kidnapping people at random and sending them to death. However villages and cities guarded by permanent soldiers are not touched.

Instead of protecting the residents from the Ganeth Guild the permanent soldiers impose huge taxes on the residents. Residents had to do high-intensity labor or pay a high price to raise money for repayment.

If the residents refuse to pay taxes the permanent soldiers leave without any regrets. Afterwards a large-scale offensive by the Ganeth Guild begins and the residents are captured and sent to ‘death’.

Residents who cannot withstand the attack by a band of bandits are forced to leave the village and face one of two fates: being eaten by the chimera monsters that fill the wilderness or being captured by the pursuing bandits.

    ‘It’s vicious.’

    That was Simon’s impression.

They have created a confrontational relationship with the permanent soldiers and thieves and are exploiting the residents. Many residents here still think of the permanent soldiers as guardian gods who protect them from bandits but in reality they are all part of the same group.

It is said that they only fight for show and rarely actually clash with each other.

“For that reason it seems that the ‘revolutionary group’ was created to break away from these two forces and increase its own power.”

    “that’s right.”

Their goal is to earn funds to station permanent soldiers here while at the same time equipping them with the power and self-sufficiency means to fight bandits even after the permanent soldiers leave and ultimately to liberate Tarados by requesting help from outside.

But Lisa’s brother said ‘The revolutionary group is also rotten.’

Even the higher-ups of the revolutionary group must have been bribed into the ‘scheme.’

“Now then what should I do? There are two numbers.”

Erzsebet said looking at Simon the leader.

“After defeating the Ganeth Guild and the lord and cutting off the limbs of the ‘Order’ will you enter the main battle safely? Or we will take down the organization’s headquarters through a surprise attack before the organization realizes our existence.”

    “…….”

Simon closed his eyes and thought for a moment then opened his mouth.

    “I decided.”
