Necromancer Academy’s Genius Summoner – 491
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 491
“Grave Cemetery?”
“Why in a place like this…”
The students looked puzzled.
Just a little while ago I was scribbling with a quill in the classroom when it suddenly fell into a cemetery.
I saw cloudy skies thick fog dark black-leafed plants and rows of cemeteries. There was a gloomy atmosphere everywhere.
Simon got up and walked to the nearest cemetery.
“Soothing the souls of Mahilani landslide victims”
That was all that was written on the tombstone no names of the people buried there.
Looking at the date I realized it happened a long time ago. It seems that victims of the disaster were buried here as a group.
The condition of the cemetery was in a terrible state as if it had not been maintained. It is covered with dried vines and weeds and there are traces of monsters wild dogs etc. digging the ground.
“Welcome to the cemetery!”
“Welcome!”
The two twin professors approached the students with light steps.
“I have obtained all necessary permits. Rest assured that this graveyard can be used by our Kizen for educational purposes.”
“There’s no better place to teach funerals than a cemetery!”
The twins gestured into the air. A dome-shaped barrier spread out covering the radius of her and the students.
“It’s just a barrier that blocks sound!”
“Then let’s start class!”
The twins exchanged glances nodded once clasped their hands together and took a deep breath.
[La―――――!!]
Simon felt the hairs all over his body stand on end. A chilling energy sweeps across my back and then pulls the back of my neck stiffly.
The other students seemed equally surprised and kept exclaiming.
“Wow it gives me goosebumps.”
“Sounds like a vocalist!”
Rather than a bright and beautiful melody it is a melody with a slightly gloomy tinge. It was reminiscent of a haunting song sung by the dead.

The twins cut off the note at the same time.
Clap clap clap!
Some students clapped without realizing it. The twins snorted ‘hmph’ and looked back at the students.
“We told you right? Babies?”
“Why did you come here? Babies?”
The students spoke in unison.
“You said you would experience the origin of funerals!”
The twin professors nodded.
“that’s right! From now on the basics of the basics of funerals!”
“I’m going to learn the ‘funeral song’ to sing to the undead!”
“We’ll start with the most basic at the school bell-tingling level. If you can’t keep up with this you’ll be disqualified as a summoner right? Lin?”
“That’s right Rune! You’re just disqualified as a necromancer!”
The two girls held hands.
“I’ll sing you one word at a time!”
“Follow me carefully!”
“yes!”
The summoning class suddenly turned into a music class. The twin professors sang one word at a time and the students followed suit.
[Ra-v-ri-ma-đưa ra. anh!]
An overwhelming tone covers the surroundings. The students open their mouths and sing along even though they are nervous about the creepy tone.
Then the professors corrected it.
“Only the Ma part connected in the middle becomes larger!”
There hasn’t been any magical device yet.
A very ordinary music class.
The only difference is that the lyrics are not in a continental language and are a song calling for the undead so the melody is foreign and difficult to sing.
Still since it was a short song with only one verse it wasn’t difficult to memorize it. During the short break students hummed songs.
And even during break time the twin girl professors’ explanations continued.
“This funeral song has an unknown title and an unknown author. Among necromancers this song is called ‘Corpse Robbery’!
“In the past grave robbers must have walked around the tombs at night singing this song!”
“Then I could see that the grave was moving and there was still a body in it!”
“These days you can find undead even in the city so it’s a long time ago!”
It was the twins’ explanation that resonated like an echo.
“Then break time is over! Everyone wake up!”
“Now I’m going to teach you how to create black magic with music!”
There were countless ways to create magical effects with music but the one taught by the twin professors in the first class was the most basic method.
A method of creating a magical effect by spreading a magic circle in front of the mouth and touching the formula or rune of the magic circle with a song. Intuitive and simple.
Of course you must succeed in this step to be able to sing funeral songs in a more powerful way in the future.

It was amazing to try it myself.
When a magic circle is spread out and a song is sung certain parts of the magic circle light up and disappear repeatedly as the song progresses.
As if the magic circle understood the song.
“You have to pronounce the Ra-v-ri part exactly!”
“If you add them together they become completely different commands so the magic circle cannot respond!”
The twin professors and teaching assistants went around and corrected the students’ singing.
Simon who was working harder than anyone else felt slightly hoarse so he took out some water and took a drink.
“how is it? Is everything going well?”
Lorraine approached.
Simon answered scratching his head awkwardly.
“hmm. It’s harder than I thought.”
“Shall I teach you something? I know the funeral song well because I sang it a lot when I was young.”
Also Lorraine.
This was the power of early education.
“Then please.”
Simon did not refuse.
Lorraine nodded spread a magic circle in front of her mouth and sighed. And I took a small breath.
Finally her lips opened.
“Find-die Die-be…….”
‘!’
Just the first note gave me goosebumps.
A timbre that extends cleanly and beautifully. It’s clearly the same song that the twin professors sang but it has a completely different feel.
At the same time the slight goosebumps on my back showed the full effect of the funeral.
Shake! Shake!
As her voice rang out the tomb in front of me shook. Even though the output of the magic circle was minimized it was still like this.
If the output was turned up properly it seemed like the grave would be destroyed at any moment and the hands of the dead would pop out.
“This feels like slightly lifting the end of the note. like this.”
She sang a line and repeated the point to Simon.
“At the end it rings with a pitiful feeling. ein-d i c k es Schädel üdbrig!”
She stopped singing.
Then I saw Simon.
“Now do you want to try?”
Simon who was lost for a moment suddenly nodded.
“I’ll try!”
Simon stepped forward.
You can do it.
I can do it too.
Hmm. It took a breath and strengthened its stomach.
“Fin-ded-ie D-ie-be!”
Lorraine looked surprised as a unique tone came out of Simon’s mouth.
“Ich tre-ffe sie dieim Grab…….”
The students around him who heard Simon sing were also buzzing. Toto and Fitzgerald who were nearby also approached.
“Schädel übrig――!”
Simon who uttered the last syllable with force elegantly wiped the beads of sweat from his forehead and spoke.
“how is it?”
“Uh um. Simon.”
Lorraine’s face turned slightly red. Then he turned his head as if looking at a distant mountain.
“You’re not good at singing.”
“?!”
Hahahahaha!
The students watching started laughing loudly. Toto in particular was purely surprised.
“There was something even Simon couldn’t do.”
Fitzgerald adjusted his glasses as if he agreed.
“Well if a person is too good at anything there is no humanity.”
Simon’s face heated up.
“What do you think of my song? The pitch has all gone up!”
“The sound is not the problem~ Simon.”
Before I knew it Cerne had approached me with her ivory hair waving. He waved his long white index finger playfully in front of Simon’s eyes.
“The beats are all wrong right? Mr. Bagchi.”
“……Ugh!”
Cernet says so. He took a deep breath.
“die im Grab gefangen ist――!”
The students gaped at the unconventional volume and elegant sound made while frowning.
This crazy genius created a funeral effect just by singing without even using a magic circle. The tombs around were shaking.
“Is this how you do it?”
Cernet winked lightly at Simon and turned his head. Lorraine was clenching her fists with an angry expression.
Simon let out a laugh.
Is singing insanely well a genetic trait of the Ivory Tower family? really. Cernet was said to be an adopted child brought in by the owner of the Ivory Tower.
‘anyway.’
Simon gathered his wits and coughed. And although they sang each line the same way the only reaction from those around them was awkward laughter.
Cerne made a loud noise.
“Ah~ I’m okay with a guy who can’t sing at all. Instead I get better at the things I like.”
‘…I feel strangely bad for some reason.’
Lorraine also said something.
“It’s okay Simon. Funeral songs have nothing to do with singing skills. All you have to do is wake up the undead properly. Park Chi is a disease that can be overcome.”
‘Lorraine! Even you…!’
While Simon who had been blocked by a wall of talent for the first time in a long time was lying face down in despair the twin professors approached him chattering away.
“Can we start Rin?”
“Let’s get started! Rune!”
“Come on babies! From now on we will conduct a performance evaluation! Everyone spread out and practice!”
“Then if you succeed in waking the undead in front of us or the instructors you will pass!”
The twins joined hands and stretched them out to the sides. The students’ eyes also turned toward what they were teaching.
“There’s a teleportation magic circle ready!”
“A baby who passes the test and receives a score can go back to school right away!”
“After that it’s free time!”
The students’ eyes lit up when they heard they were going back to school. The twin professors raised their joined hands toward the sky.
“Then from now on!”
“Let’s get started!”
As soon as the start sign went down the students scattered. A good cemetery had to be chosen first.
Simon also rushed over. Then I found a place in a corner that was covered with trees. He took a deep breath.
‘The first performance evaluation of Jang Song-hak’s class. I will definitely make it a success!’
Simon’s eyes filled with determination.
* * *
Four hours have passed.
95% of the Summoning Department students who entered the graveyard returned to Keygen.
Cernet was the first to get an A+ followed by Lorraine. Not to mention Aseraz and Hector even top-ranked Toto and Fitzgerald left the graveyard.
and.
“Find…… die…… be…….”
Simon was completely hoarse.
‘There are some things that can’t be accomplished even with no effort.’
After a while the last remaining male student along with Simon also went out using the teleportation magic circle.
Before I knew it the cemetery was covered in black darkness.
“I’m left alone.”
“I’m left alone.”
The two twin professors approached with light steps.
“Follow me.”
“dunce.”
“……yes.”
Simon followed them into a deeper area. They were holding a lantern in each hand lighting up the darkness.
‘Where are you taking me?’
Are they trying to move the location somewhere else because it doesn’t work here?
Or are you planning to punish me?
Whatever it was Simon who was last in this class had no choice. I trudged after the two twins.
And finally we arrived at a dense cemetery area completely overgrown with grass.
Even though the management in the previous place was inadequate if there was order in the location of the cemetery this was a total mess. The graves were tangled together in a haphazard manner as if they were in a hurry to just bury the bodies.
“Professor this is……”
“Are you going to give up?”
Twin Professor Lin suddenly asked that question. Simon flinched and stopped talking.
“that’s right! It is also a student’s right to give up!
“Would you just get an F and go back to school?”
“…….”
Simon’s fist gained strength. A voice came out from a hoarse throat.
“I want to try until the end.”
The twin professors tilted their heads at those words.
“It’s strange Lin.”
“Yes it’s strange. Rune.”
“You know better than anyone else that no matter what you do it won’t work right?”
“You know best that it cannot be improved and that there is a 0% chance right?”
“But why do you keep trying?”
“Why don’t you give up?”
The two twins asked as if they were pushing each other but Simon answered with a smile.
“I’ve never thought about why I should give up or why I should give up.”
The twins’ eyes went blank.
“oh. Those words from Lin! I got it back! I took a hit!”
“no! Actually Rune did it!”
“Don’t lie!”
The two twins argued for a moment then stopped fighting and took a step back.
“What’s your name?”
“This is Simon Pollentia.”
“good. I’ll teach you. Simon.”
“Actually it’s a funeral song I taught you. Maybe it’s natural that I can’t sing Simon.”
“……yes?”
The two twins held hands and raised their voices.
“Sharks don’t need to learn the songs of sardines right?”
“I’ll tell you the real one that suits you.”
