Necromancer Academy’s Genius Summoner – 422
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 422
Day 4 of living in Escail Village.
Escail also had its own concept of the weekend. I was able to relax comfortably away from my role as a teacher for about one day a week.
Of course this story did not apply to Simon.
“Utchacha!”
Ujikkeun!
As Simon with his sleeves rolled up shouted a rotten tree root that had been deeply embedded in the ground was pulled out from the ground.
The adults who were watching let out a gasp.
“Mr. Sean’s strength is amazing!”
“As expected Priests are different!”
Simon groaned and fell into his seat. Rocks and rotten trees that had been pulled out like this were scattered around.
‘I’m going to die.’
My forearms were screaming and my back was aching.
As I was wiping the sweat from my forehead with a towel a farmer I had become close to offered me a bowl filled with cold water.
“Drink drink.”
“thank you!”
“You are truly amazing! What would have taken 15 days to complete in just one day!”
“I’ve done it a lot in my hometown too.”
As soon as Simon grabbed the bowl it went straight to his mouth.
The neck and neck suddenly moved. Water was leaking under my chin but I didn’t want to worry about trivial things right now.
“He is a healthy young man that is rare these days.”
“Leave the cleanup to us!”
Other adults moved to remove the debris.
“Thank you so much.”
The farmer said sitting roughly on the stump.
“It must be hard to be a teacher to children but you went out of your way to help with such a difficult task.”

“I am also a member of the village for the time being. Of course I have to help.”
“Hehe! Do you know how to be liked by adults?
Of course there was a reason why I came to do this difficult work. This is ‘information collection’.
Simon was drinking cold water and measuring the timing to ask a question.
‘…I can’t really get used to it.’
Unlike here where you are drenched in sweat a snowstorm is still pouring down beyond the transparent barrier.
I thought it was a very well-made barrier.
“mister.”
“hmm?”
“As I stayed in the village a question arose.”
“oh! ok something? I’ll explain anything to you!”
We worked hard for four days to get this kind of active cooperation.
Simon raised his arm and pointed outside the barrier.
“The harsh cold outside the barrier.”
“hmm!”
“It has become more and more intense and has now covered the lower village of ‘Kula’. Do you know why this happened?”
“…….”
The farmer’s expression which had been smiling widely hardened slightly.
“Why are you curious about that?”
Oops.
Was this a too sensitive question since we haven’t built complete trust yet? The back of my head was soaked with cold sweat but I quickly covered it up.
“It’s not all different! Once the extreme cold stops there is no need to gradually expand the area of the barrier and cultivate hardened land. I wonder why the cold lasts so long.”
“…….”
The farmer closed his eyes for a moment and then opened his mouth.
“It’s because Snow Lady was angry.”
It came out again.
That being called ‘Snow Woman’.
“Is there really such a thing as that snow girl…? Sorry if it was a pointless question.”
“Oh I understand. This might be hard for outsiders to believe. Actually I was also an outsider.”
He said that when he was a young man he fell in love with a Mizenashi woman who stopped by the city and followed her here.
“Well my wife at that time…!”
Although it was someone else’s family story that I didn’t know why he was listening to Simon nodded quickly and responded positively.
“……That’s what happened! Anyway to answer your question yes. Snow Maiden definitely exists! After living in this town I couldn’t believe it.”
“what…….”
According to the farmer a large event is held in the village once a year to worship the Snow Maiden.
At that time if you set up a banquet table at the village hall close all the doors leave the back door open and wait.
“In a moment! I heard footsteps behind the door and then the sound of food being eaten!

Simon swallowed his saliva as he heard the farmer’s realistic experience.
“And the sound of footsteps got farther away as if I had eaten all the food! I couldn’t believe it so I secretly opened the window and guess what!”
The farmer smiled grimly and wiggled his fingers.
“A woman with gray hair in a white dress with eyes and lips as red as blood was running barefoot! Then he looks straight at me! Goosebumps all over my body…! okay. That was something that could never be called human!”
The appearance and clothing exactly matched that of the unidentified woman Simon had seen. His shoulders trembled slightly.
“Hehe! If I’m scared should I go this far?”
“Oh no!”
Even though I was a necromancer by name I couldn’t be afraid of ghost stories.
“This is not the only one like this! Sometimes. There were times when the bitter cold was severe for several months and only on the day when offerings were made to the snow maiden at Mizenashi did the sky clear up! Isn’t it amazing?”
Simon craned his head.
“What is the ‘offering’ offered to the snow woman?”
The farmer was startled by that question and covered his mouth with a horrified expression. Then he looked around Hwihwi.
“under! haha! Did I just say sacrifice?”
“yes. That’s exactly what you said.”
“Looks like I made a mistake! haha! ruler. Would I do this again? Utchacha!”
Simon stared blankly at the man’s back who was trembling and looking around frantically.

“Teacher Leah! teacher!”
“Quick!”
Although it was a golden weekend with only one day off a week the children came to Lethe’s house to play today again.
‘I thought you were going to take a break. Are you coming on holidays?’
Lethe was in tears.
The three children were surrounding Lethe in bed begging her to read a story to her.
‘Kids! ‘Teachers are people too!’
I wanted to shout out loud but Lethe smiled and said with a professional attitude.
“Then shall we go into the world of fairy tales?”
“Yes~”
“Exciting!”
Lethe opened the dirty storybook. No matter how many times I looked at it the children’s books were overflowing and the precarious pages were on the verge of being torn apart.
It seemed to be a book that children cherished so Lethe carefully turned the pages.
“Once upon a time there lived a beautiful girl.”
Her friendly voice rang out. The children lay down looking extremely comfortable and cozy and focused on the story.
“The girl was born on a snowy mountain. But the mountains were too cold so the girl and the villagers came down to the warm southern lands. I was living happily there building a house and cultivating a field.”
Lethe narrowly turned the page which had about 1/3 of it torn off.
“Then one day the girl found the crew of a shipwrecked ship lying on the beach! The girl brought the sailors to the village and treated them with care.”
“ah! Luckily they woke up. They were adventurers! The sturdy and skilled adventurers built a house for the girl and the villagers. He also taught us how to farm well and how to easily start a fire. The villagers and adventurers had a great time together.”
Lethe smiled as she turned the pages.
It was an ordinary story but it was heartwarming and fun. The children also curled up in their blankets as if they were having fun.
“Then one day a breakup came. The adventurers had repaired their ship and now had to return to the kingdom. The adventurers comforted the crying girl and boarded the ship. And he waved his hand and swore. I will definitely come back here someday.”
Sniff!
Seup!
The sounds of children crying could be heard everywhere.
Still Lethe turned the next page thinking that it was good to be a child.
“A long time has passed since the adventurers left. The girl sat on the beach again today and waited for the adventurers. But oh my! The adventurers are truly back! It also brought back a lot of people. The wide sea was full of people’s ships!”
“The adventurers pleaded with the girl and the villagers. Our kingdom is being overrun by bandits. Please let me live here. The village people readily accepted the kingdom people.”
Sarah.
The moment she turned the next page Lethe was a little embarrassed.
The pictures in children’s books have become a little scary for children. The writing shown below has also changed to a more powerful handwriting.
“The adventurers and the kingdom people spoke. Just like I built you a house last time I will build you a bigger city this time.”
“They burned down the forests where their animal friends lived and built roads. A port was created by overturning the sparkling sandy beach and old trees the guardian deities beloved by the villagers were cut down and made into furniture.”
“no!”
“Stop it!”
The children’s protests were heard.
“The girl and the villagers asked us to stop now but the adventurers and the kingdom people asked us to trust us. We just said that if you trust us and wait a better village will be created.”
“The people of the kingdom kept coming from the sea. As the population became so numerous the people of the kingdom began to divide the land. This is my land there is your land. The girl and the villagers spoke in confusion. It is said that nature belongs to all of us and no one can own it. But the adventurers and the kingdom people did not listen. So the next morning came.”
Palak.
Lethe’s voice sank.
“There was no land for the girl and the villagers to stay.”
The children started crying. There was also a child who was pounding the bed with his small fists as if he was angry.
“The girl and the villagers who were kicked out of the village returned to the cold mountain. There everyone decided. One day I will chase away the adventurers and the people of the kingdom and go back to that warm land.”
“But the betrayal of the adventurer and the people of the kingdom left the girl shocked and weakened. The girl froze to death before she could climb the mountain. The villagers buried the girl in the snow angered and vowing revenge.”
Lethe’s shaking hands finally turned the last page.
‘!’
And the moment I saw the last picture I almost screamed.
Faded gray hair blood-like eyes and a look of hatred and anger.
It was so realistic that I wondered if this was really a painting.
The story on the last page below this picture was just one line.
“And the girl woke up.”
* * *
In the evening Simon and Lethe were reunited at the lodgings.
All the children had been called home by their parents.
“Did you find out something?”
Lethe asked snapping her fingers and activating a soundproof magic circle.
“huh. I found out a lot.”
“The same goes for this one. Let’s start by sharing information.”
Simon is the story of the farmer’s snow maiden and the sacrifice. In addition we talked about information we found out along the way.
Lethe also told us about the fairy tales she read with the children and the stories she learned while chatting with Petria.
“Well that pretty much sums it up.”
Lethe who was looking out the window said.
“Did you get the hang of it?”
“yes.”
Lethe nodded seriously.
“Now let’s dig into the truth about this ugly town.”
