    Episode 387

    Day 4.

Simon climbed the hill today with a good view of the surrounding scenery.

He carried the spear made from the dungeon’s minerals on his shoulder and scanned the vast field keenly. A herd of monsters reminiscent of bison were active in a group in the grass.

It was large and the mineral covering its body was brown in color and its tail moved like a whip.

    [Wow there are so many.]

That was Hersheba’s sentiment. As a staff she was standing straight on Simon’s head.

[Kid! Aren’t you going to catch them all?]

“huh. All you have to do is catch one or two of the ones you need.”

    [A guy you need?]

    Simon nodded.

“Find the guy with a wound on his body.”

[Wound wound. He’s a guy with scars.]

Hersheba climbed higher. Simon also looked down at the surrounding scenery again.

The monsters in this dungeon do not eat or fight among themselves. There are no concepts such as territorial fights food fights or competition between males for females.

There is only one case of fighting.

If it sees a being from outside the dungeon that is a human it will rush at them like crazy and try to eat them.

‘In other words if you have wounds on your body it means you fought with outsiders. Because monsters don’t fight among themselves.’

Simon looked at the book in his hands. It was a book that came out of the stomach of the monster I caught last time.

‘I might be able to get something like this again.’

    [Kid! I found it there!]

When I look at the location Hersheba told me about I see one of the monsters with scratches all over its body. There was even a long spear-like thing stuck into the ore leather.

    “good job! That’s it.”

Simon went down the hill kicking up dust.

After figuring out the strategy hunting monsters became much easier.

By hitting the monster with a pre-made mineral weapon the ore on the outside was shattered and then a curse was placed on the exposed bare body or the body was torn apart with Overlord.

    And Hersheba.

    [Aaaah! Kyaaaaa!]

They were running away frantically attracting the attention of other herds of bison. Thanks to her performance Simon was able to bring out the monster he wanted and hunt it safely.

    “Utcha.”

Although the monster’s movement was disrupted with 2 stacks of the motion sickness curse ‘Sickness’ the monster was violently shaking its body and resisting.

Simon who was on top of him stumbled and swayed until he discovered the spear stuck near his abdomen.

    ‘This is it!’

    Ouch!

I grabbed it with both hands and pulled with all my might.

    Fuha!

Blood poured out and the spear was pulled out cleanly. The spear blade like the one Simon used is made of mineral.

‘After all it wasn’t done by a Kizen student.’

The windows look worn and old. Simon thought his hypothesis was becoming more and more correct.

    Coo!

Finally the monster collapsed unable to bear the motion sickness and bleeding.

Simon quickly sprinkled a potion with a presence blocking effect on the monster’s body and then dragged it to a safe place.

    * * *

    Crackle crackle!

After a successful hunt like this you can get meat and clues.

Simon who settled down on a steep hill lit a bonfire and put some meat on a tree.

    “Good job Hersheva.”

    [it’s hard!!]

Simon soothed her whining and continued the disassembly work.

This time the stomach contains a skull and various mementos. There was also a book.

    “It’s awesome!”

Simon displayed his prize with a proud face.

A total of three books have already been obtained this way.

It was an unrivaled achievement among the 647 students who attempted to uncover the secrets of the dungeon.

    [But kid.]

Hersheba who had become a walking stick ran over and wrote in front of the book.

[Why is this book in the monster’s body? And who wrote this?]

    “There are two hypotheses.”

    Simon spread his fingers.

“first. There were people who entered the dungeon before us. Second there were people who had been living in the dungeon from the beginning.”

    [Either way there was someone.]

    “huh.”

They seem to have been wiped out by a monster attack. Still there are traces of his efforts to survive in this dungeon such as writing books and making weapons.

Simon opened the book. It was full of curly language and various picture materials that I had never seen before.

    [Can you read?]

Simon shook his head in response to Hersheba’s question.

“It’s my first language too. Still there are a lot of pictures so I can guess what the content is.”

Simon decided to use this knowledge to create a new mineral weapon.

There was a special way to process minerals.

    “like this.”

A lump of raw mineral was placed on the floor. Then place a roughly sharp mineral like a cut stone tool right near the edge and hit it with force on the same cut stone tool.

    Cough!

    A clear sound resonates.

When you hit the four corners like this a few times the ore splits into thick pieces with a snapping sound making it easier to use.

[Ooh! There was a method like this!]

Now firmly place the ore on the spear holder then pour in the adhesive potion and let it dry.

Although it is disposable stabbing a monster with this can cause great damage by breaking the monster’s hard shell and piercing its inner flesh at the same time.

Simon was lost in thought as he made several bundles of spears.

‘But there are still too many mysteries that have not been solved.’

    Dungeon monsters do not eat.

Therefore the digestive system degenerated to an extreme extent and the excretory system also disappeared. That’s why the skeletons and objects they ate remain stuck in their stomachs.

However no matter how much you think about it it is strange that such large monsters are active without eating food.

A source of energy that can replace food intake. I had to find out what it was.

‘And more than anything the biggest problem is how to relate all these clues to the location of the dungeon owner.’

It’s the 4th day and I can’t figure out what this dungeon is like. Simon lay down on the grass and looked through the books he had previously acquired.

It was an encyclopedia depicting the animals and plants of the dungeon.

Since I couldn’t read the text I flipped through the pages just by looking at the pictures.

    ‘uh.’

    And the last chapter.

    A human came out.

A picture of a human being sitting cross-legged. Grass was growing on the body around him and a white hand was reaching out from the floor towards the person.

    ‘This is something.’

Simon adjusted his posture and sat down with a serious expression.

‘It seems like it has a symbolic meaning.’

    * * *

    Locke Island.

    Keygen Auditorium.

“ego! It’s already the 5th day of promotion evaluation!”

Host Conrad who had deep dark circles under his eyes held up the document.

Although his face was tired his voice was loud and professional.

“There will be a brief interim review! It’s already been 5 days. How is the students’ situation? Professor Hongpeng!”

    “It’s difficult.”

Hongpeng rested his chin and looked at the video.

“I think clearing the dungeon will take longer than my battle. About one to two months.”

All students had a clear goal of conquering the dungeon master but in the extremely harsh environment the students were busy getting hit here and there.

Because survival was too difficult it was becoming more like a dungeon survival evaluation rather than a dungeon strategy.

    “I’m going crazy.”

In the video the host shook his head as he watched a student lose his teeth while chewing minerals because he had nothing to eat.

“If things continue like this it’s going to be a really big problem! It is especially terrible if as Professor Hongpeng said the exam lasts for more than one or two months! I hope someone can defeat the dungeon lord as quickly as possible and finish the test!”

    Hongfeng also nodded.

“What’s worth noting is the students who made up the party.”

    Elisa Celine’s party of four.

And students such as D i c k and Jamie also completed the three-person party.

They shared monster strategies and obtained food through hunting. When you have more time to survive there is room to pay more attention to finding the dungeon owner.

    “And… Ah!”

In the video a blue-haired boy was seen turning the pages of a book while making a bonfire.

His face was clean and he looked very well-nourished.

Because Simon had a strong sense of survival after living in a country estate for a long time he was able to maintain a stable life even in the dungeon unlike other students who were suffering.

“I’m even reading a book leisurely. What book is that?”

    the moderator asked.

At that time Hongfeng’s eyes widened rapidly.

“……I would like to correct this.”

    “yes?”

“Not the two months I mentioned earlier but two weeks.”

A satisfied smile appeared on her lips.

“It all depends on Simon Hakjaeng.”

    Day 5.

Simon was startled as soon as he woke up.

Last night an entire hill near him disappeared. It was located behind a hill for some kind of cover but when I woke up I was surprised to see that the surroundings were empty.

And where the hill was there is a large footprint.

When Simon followed the footsteps he saw a huge monster that looked almost identical to the one on the hill earlier writhing along.

    “no way…….”

Simon quickly took out the flora and fauna encyclopedia and looked through it.

There is a picture of a monster on the right page and a picture of a plant on the left page. It passed without much notice but now I can see the regularity.

All the monsters in this dungeon-

    ‘!’

Simon felt a chill and looked back.

The moment I saw the tall trees my breath caught in my throat and a feeling of fear arose. The trees that can be seen everywhere have never been so scary.

‘……Yes plants and animals were all covered in minerals. Animals did not consume food and some plants had facial features such as eyes nose and mouth.’

As a result of Simon secretly following and observing the monsters he realized several important facts.

The monsters in this dungeon transform into surrounding terrain and natural parts of the dungeon. Like a tree or a rock on a hill.

When you crouch down with your body pressed against the floor organic tissue changes and hardens into a specific entity whether a rock or a plant. Conversely there are also cases where something becomes a plant and then returns to an animal.

It was impossible according to the common sense of the continent but at least the monsters in this dungeon had such physiology.

    ‘…I’ll have to be careful.’

I also realized how the monsters in the dungeon obtain energy.

When they used up all their energy they seemed to turn into plants and recharge their energy through photosynthesis.

    ‘then.’

    Sigh!

Simon opened the last page of the encyclopedia. This picture shows humans not monsters turning into plants. And the ‘white hand’ seen next to it.

    ‘What does this mean?’

I thought there was no harm in trying this and that. Simon decided to at least try imitating.

He made a kind of ore clothing by attaching a rope to the ore put it on his body and sat cross-legged.

    “Whew.”

Then I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.

Simon’s specialty was closing his eyes and focusing.

It’s scary how long it lasts like that.

    ‘……ah!’

I felt like I was losing my mind.

I almost lost my mind. Reason had to be maintained somehow.

    ‘Focus and focus.’

It was a few tens of minutes before I held on to the ropes of reason with such difficulty.

    cook.

Something like a white thin terminal nerve rose from the floor and attempted to connect to Simon’s body.

Simon pretended not to notice. Eventually it seemed to realize that Simon was not a monster in the dungeon and ran away in a panic.

    Simon opened his eyes.

    ‘You definitely just touched me!’

This was the identity of the ‘white hand’ shown in the encyclopedia.

And Simon was feeling a residual feeling throughout his body.

Even after I got up from my seat I could see the direction in which those white nerves had retreated.

The corners of Simon’s mouth which had been dazed went up.

    ‘…I found it!’
