Necromancer Academy’s Genius Summoner – 384

Chapter 384
Jane said
“Get ready. You’ll descend one at a time.”
“…What?’
Entering the dungeon was extremely dangerous. They had to jump into the middle of an erupting volcano and land precisely into a portal at the center.
A wrong move would lead to them landing directly into magma. Not even bones would remain.
As the bewildered students hesitated Jane said
“What did you think entering a dungeon would be like? They’re not structures you can just waltz into.”
She turned her head and gave a signal.
“I’m counting on you Professor Walter.”
“Of course.”
Walter stepped forward once again. He cracked open his dried lips and let his warm voice out.
{Chasseur}
The blood magic net that covered the students’ heads now entered the volcano cushioning it like a pad.
It was blocking the full force of the erupting volcano.
‘Woah!’
‘To seal a volcano with such magic!’
This was Kizen’s Professor of Hemomancy. It was an incredible feat. It was really impossible to believe something so sturdy was made with human blood.
“Alright we’ll enter quickly one at a time.”
The students hesitated and tried to let others go first. The volcanic eruption had subsided a bit because of the barrier but it was still terrifying.
“Here I go!”
One brave student stepped forward and jumped up energetically off of jet-black. He then spun lightly in the air facing the students and shouted
“See you all later! Alive!”
Letting out an exhilarated cry he precisely entered the portal. Cheers broke out from all across the cohort. Jane also nodded.
“Well done. Next.”
A bit of calmness returned to the students’ eyes.

The volcano was frightening but it wasn’t that bad compared to their past experiences and hardships. Once someone made a start the rest quickly followed dropping into the portal one by one.
“I’ll be back.”
Simon decided to go first out of Group 7. Rick grinned and high-fived Simon.
“See ya after becoming a second-year student!”
Meilyn reached her hand out.
“I won’t lose this time. I’m aiming to graduate in first place so you do your best too.”
He hugged Camibarez lightly too.
“Please return safely Simon!”
Receiving all three’s energy Simon strode forward with confidence. He saw the assistant teachers blocking incoming debris with dark magic.
“Simon.”
Simon stopped. Professor Bahil was smiling and waving at him.
“Ah Professor Bahil!”
“Have a good trip. And you haven’t forgotten what I told you have you?”
Simon nodded.
“I’ll reserve Compellonia until the very end and use it as the last last resort.”
Bahil smiled at Simon’s brilliance. The boy had remembered every single word he said.
“Excellent.”
Walking past Bahil Simon joined the line of students preparing for the volcano dive. The students jumped quickly and soon it was Simon’s turn.
“Did you prepare well for the exam?”
Jane who had been sending off students with an expressionless face spoke to Simon.
Simon smiled broadly and said
“Yes! I’m fully prepared!”
“…Come back safely.”
“Thank you!”
Simon looked back at his groupmates who were approaching the back of the line to join the queue.
“I’ll be going ahead.”
Simon waved to his groupmates then dove in without hesitation. He spun and adjusted his posture in mid-air and the dark portal appeared before him.
‘Good.’
As Simon descended straight toward the dungeon portal…
Booooooooom!
Suddenly a massive ball of magma burst through the net of blood.
‘!’
There was no time to even draw a magic circle. Simon quickly gathered raw jet-black in his palm and—
{Spuma}
{Paralyze}
Dark magic from Jane and Bahil at the top shot out swiftly containing and subduing the magma. Simon didn’t have to do anything and successfully entered the dungeon.
‘That startled me.’

His vision was enveloped in darkness the moment he entered the portal. He was passing through a narrow rat-hole-like space at terrifying speed.
This strange sensation when crossing through space…
It felt completely different from using a teleport magic circle. It was as if he was being sucked into another world.
‘Ah!’
At that moment Simon finally saw the end. Exiting the long dark tunnel he entered a dazzling world of light.
‘So this is the dungeon!’
The surroundings reached up into the sky.
Simon felt a gravity slightly different from the continent’s tugging against him.
He felt his body gradually descending and his vision flickered into pure darkness.
“…”
He opened his eyes as consciousness returned.
Swaaa…
The sound of cool wind rustling the grass reached his ears.
The first thing he saw upon opening his eyes was the passage he had seen when he first entered the dungeon. He could see the portal in the sky.
Around the portal were several satellites of varying sizes that resembled moons and countless stars sparkled in the night sky.
‘I made it down without any injuries.’
Feeling slightly dizzy Simon held his forehead as he slowly sat up.
These places were known as ‘dungeons’ but they were actually a form of mini dimension.
He looked around.
“Woah…”
It was the best night view he had ever seen in his life.
Plants glowed with bioluminescence. Even the stones and rocks along the road emitted light.
All these colorful differently patterned and sized lights combined to create a true banquet of light.
It was fantastic.
He was so captivated that he thought he could live happy just seeing this view if he were to be trapped in this space for a while.
‘Mm I need to get a grip.’
Having dropped into a dangerous dungeon he couldn’t stay mesmerized by the scenery. He quickly stood up.
‘What should I do first?’
The goal of clearing a dungeon was always the same.
The death of the ‘master of the dungeon’ also known as the boss monster.
The basics were to explore the dungeon gather various clues and combine them to deduce the boss monster’s location.
But Jane said this dungeon was the size of a kingdom.
It would take time.
Although 647 necromancers were deployed simultaneously meaning the dungeon would be cleared eventually no one knew how long it would take.
‘Prepare for a long-term battle. First I need to gather food.’
The food he brought was a two-day supply kit provided by Kizen and an artifact that produced potable water.
Students couldn’t secretly bring food. They underwent thorough subspace checks from Kizen’s side before entering the dungeon. Simon was especially shocked when they mentioned activating a subspace radar.
Simon had a large hidden subspace. He was anonymously advised that if he brought too many Ancient Undead the radar might detect the subspace distortion. So he only brought the most important one Pier.
‘Anyway even if this is cleared quickly it will take at least a week like a long-distance marathon. Food is the biggest concern.’
Simon decided to scout out the surroundings.
He would cooperate if he met other students but he doubted he would encounter anyone in this vast territory.
‘Let’s investigate everything with the assumption I’m working by myself.’
* * *
At the same time inside the great hall of Roke island.
In the center of the audience an MC in flamboyant attire shouted into a loudspeaker crystal ball.
“Welcome to the Kizen advancement exam and the fifth BDMAT observation esteemed parents and guests! I am Conrad Hayabone your MC for this exam commentary!”
The audience applauded as the host bowed politely.
“Yes yes nice to meet you! Hahaha! It was a shame that the fourth BDMAT suddenly turned into an ‘after-school BDMAT’ and the broadcasts were canceled but how thankful we are to Kizen for arranging this final event!”
Although it was an advancement exam it was also the ‘fifth BDMAT’ so parents watching and Kizen broadcasting the exam were allowed.
The host continued speaking glancing at the cards that contained the script he was seeing for the first time.
“As you may already know dear parents there have been many changes because this is a huge exam. The broadcast will be for a maximum of two weeks ten hours a day. Kizen will provide accommodations and meals but please refrain from entering unauthorized areas on the island and follow directions given by servants.”
The host quickly raised the next cue card after explaining the precautions.
“Also since the dungeon is a separate space from the continent live broadcasting is impossible so please understand! The footage sent to the school is collected from observers entering and exiting the dungeon so only recorded footage will be broadcast. There may be a time difference with the students actively participating in the dungeon too! Now then let’s welcome the Kizen professor who shall assist me with the commentary for this exam!”
A crucial moment.
The host flipped the cue card with the professor’s name looking very nervous.
‘Please don’t let it be Professor Belya! Or Professor Jane!’
Tap. Tap.
Footsteps approached the stage. The MC saw the professor’s face and momentarily fell into despair.
‘Don’t tell me it’s Professor Belya?!’
He thought so for a moment but her appearance was slightly different on closer inspection. Also she wasn’t wearing that revealing outfit.
Her hair was tied back in a bun she had a tall slender figure and walked with a body so muscular it looked like solid bronze.
Finally reconfirming the professor’s name on the cue card the host shouted with a beaming smile
“Introducing! The legendary combat-dark-magic master who defeated the Great Disaster Kundar Hydra with her bare hands! Five years in a row of topping the ratings for student satisfaction! Currently teaching the first-year’s Combat Dark Magic class give it up for Professor Hong Feng Tun Sokum Marerat!”
Clap clap clap clap clap!
Having heard of Hong Feng’s name the parents clapped happily. Hong Feng smiled brightly and bowed.
“Nice to meet you parents and guests of Kizen! I’m Pwofessor Hong Feng!”
The host flinched.
“P-Pwofesssor?”
“Yes! Pwofessor!”
“Oh you mean professor…! Ahaha! I understand the pronunciation of the continental language can be tricky! Yes! Anyway I’m counting on you for this commentary!”
“Yes MC!”
The host was smiling but his eyes were shaking.
It seemed like he got involved with someone strange again. Were there no ordinary Kizen professors?
“Now! The observer has just come up and is preparing to transmit the video. Before that Professor Hong Feng! Please explain the advancement exam being held in the dungeon!”
She nodded and held up the loudspeaker crystal ball.
“For a necromancer conquering a dungeon is an unavoidable challenge. It’s a place where danger and riches coexist!”
“I-I see! Have you ever been to a dungeon yourself Professor?’
“Of course! Countless times. Some dungeons took over five months. I almost starved to death! Ah! Some of the Kizen professors are currently in dungeons. Pwofessor Silage is one of them.”
At first the host was bewildered but he gradually adapted to Hong Feng’s manner of speaking. He was getting charmed by her bubbly personality and friendly smile.
“Ahem. Then Professor could you briefly explain this dungeon too?”
“Sure.”
She signaled the assistant teachers and a rough map of the dungeon was displayed on the mana screens.
“Our Kizen agents have already figured out the structure of the dungeon. As you can see no matter where the students land they can reach the master of the dungeon.”
“Oho I see! Then what’s the most important thing for students to clear the dungeon?”
“Investigation skills.”
She brought her hand to her eyes as if to study it.
“You can never overlook even the smallest details! You need to question and analyze everything to find clues to the master of the dungeon!”
“I-I see! Oh it looks like the first video from the observer has arrived! Let’s watch together!”
* * *
Day one in the dungeon.
Simon was rummaging for anything edible.
In particular Simon focused on analyzing the plants in the dungeon.
Especially the fruits on the trees. They were an important food source that could be obtained without much risk.
“But this…”
Simon was puzzled by the fruit that had fallen from the tree.
“It won’t break.”
The fruit’s skin was as hard as rock. No in fact the skin was made of rock.
It seemed to be a mineral that only existed in this dungeon.
The plants’ fluorescent glow was also due to the luminescent properties of this mineral.
The roots and leaves of the trees were all covered in this mineral-like material. Some things covered with it were flexible while others were as sturdy as steel.
‘B-But why is it so hard?’
Not only Simon’s combat dark magic but even the tentacle blades of Overlord couldn’t break or cut this mineral.
Simon rubbed his forehead and fell into thought.
Stomp! Stomp!
“?!”
Simon turned around in surprise.
He was sure there was no presence at all but suddenly footsteps could be heard as if something had jumped out.
Soon accompanied by rustling sounds a large monster appeared its shell covered in the same shimmering mineral as the surrounding trees.
It looked strong. A monster without a danger level as it doesn’t exist on the continent. Its strength couldn’t be estimated without facing it.
‘My first battle in the dungeon.’
The monster glared at Simon and snorted. Simon could feel its deep hostility toward him the outsider.
‘I wonder what kind of clue it may hold?’
Simon and the monster charged at each other simultaneously.
