    Chapter 354

“Do you have any intentions to become the next student council president?”

At the shocking suggestion Simon’s thoughts momentarily froze.

“I’m about to graduate and I have to step down from my position as president of Kizen but honestly the second-year students don’t really satisfy me that much! Mhm!”

    Fantasus stroked his chin.

“The second-years are excellent and capable but too calculative. They lack passionate hearts.”

    Simon looked surprised.

“A passionate heart! My father has said the same thing before!”

“I see! You have a wonderful father!”

Despite his grand and pressuring appearance Fantasus was quite talkative.

Before anyone knew it Simon was the only one paying attention to his over-the-top conversation. Serene was doing something else and Kajann was zoning out.

    However…

“I can’t really give you a definite answer yet about the student council president position right now.”

It wasn’t a position he could freely take even if he wanted it and Simon didn’t know the president’s duties.

“Yes it’s a position with heavy responsibilities.”

    Fantasus nodded his head.

“The president of Kizen should always be excellent at all times. Even if I offer you this position the second-years won’t just stay still. You’ll have to overcome their challenges as well!”

    “…Ah.”

“Still I’d like you to consider it! Of course I won’t force you! As I have said who’s the master of your life again?”

    “Myself!”

    “That’s right!”

Sensing that the conversation might drag on Kajann checked his watch and interruped

“Let’s wrap it up already. We have to move on to the next part of our schedule. President.”

“That’s a shame! It’s been a while since I’ve met friends who understand me. Hmph!”

    Fantasus thumped his chest.

“Remember juniors! Don’t let others lead your life and live with a passionate heart and big dreams! That’s the way of a true man!”

    “But I’m not a man!”

    Pressed Serene with a smile.

“And that’s also the way of a strong woman! Or any person!”

    Fantasus corrected himself.

“Feel free to visit me if you need help! If you intend to fight for true freedom I’ll help you as much as I can! Hmph!”

    * * *

After the meeting with the student council president which was as chaotic as a hurricane the three of them left the room.

Next was a place Simon insisted they must visit. He turned around and said

“This is a somewhat personal matter. You two can go somewhere else though.”

    “Guarding you is my duty.”

    Dismissed Kajann.

“I wanna stay with you too Simon.”

Said Serene with a big smile sticking close to Simon’s side.

“Because the elders of the Ivory Tower will have doubts if we’re seen separated!”

“…A-Alright. Don’t let me lead your life for you.”

Simon headed to one of the seven glass tower buildings where an event for Mechanics of Jet-Black was being held.

Here Simon experienced a magic-circle elevator for the first time. They showed their student I.D. to the guide for an identity check then stepped on the magic circle transporting them directly to the desired floor.

The floor they went to was the 37th.

The walls were transparent like glass so they could see Pentamonium City stretching out below them in all its grandness.

    “Kajann what is that place?”

The place Simon pointed to was the outskirts of the city. Beyond the protective barrier of the city was shrouded in black mist.

    “That’s the Demon Realm.”

Pentamonium was a repository of the continent’s countless knowledge and historical records. Many of the continent’s strong figures have tried to claim this city as their own but none have succeeded.

It was due to its geographic location.

The city was located at the very center of an area known as the ‘Demon Realm’.

Oxygen didn’t naturally exist in this area. Instead it was thickly enveloped by a new atmospheric layer unknown to this world making it uninhabitable for humans or any living creatures. Because of that it became a haven for the undead.

The only way to enter Pentamonium surrounded by the Demon Realm was to get permission from Pentamonium and to ride the teleportation magic circle.

“According to legend that came down through the ages a thousand years ago a meteorite fell in this area.”

Said Kajann as he looked outside.

“Only the place where the meteorite landed is safe while everywhere else was shrouded in black clouds forming the ‘Demon Realm’. Using the extraterrestrial knowledge inside the meteorite the natives of this area built this city Pentamonium. Well that’s what they say.”

    Simon’s eyes lit up.

    “That’s kinda interesting.”

“Of course the barrier has never been breached in the long history of Pentamonium so you can rest assured.”

As they walked and talked the three of them ended up in front of a hospital room. The door was open but Simon gave a light knock out of courtesy.

There was a rustling sound and then a response was heard.

    “Yes~”

    “We’re coming in.”

As Simon slowly opened the door and went in he saw a young girl in a patient gown lying on a white bed.

    “How have you been Sasha?”

Her eyes opened wide when she saw Simon.

    “Big brother Simon!!”

The girl was Sasha the saintess candidate who Simon had met during his neutral area dispatch mission.

It was only a few months ago so Simon’s memory was still fresh.

Sasha had been kidnapped by a priest named Figaro who was researching the Essence of the Saintess. After her supernatural ability went berserk she was in a coma as a Saintess but Simon successfully rescued her using his power as a Commander.

The news that she was being treated in Pentamonium was something Simon heard relatively recently after deciding to participate in the conference.

    “Have you been doing well?”

    “Yes!”

Simon put down a fruit basket he had bought from Rochest and started catching up with her.

When he first met her in the neutral area Sasha was hypervigilant shy and had only opened her heart to Camibarez.

But ever since coming here she seemed much more energetic. Her complexion had become better she had grown a bit taller and her hair had grown longer.

Currently in return for receiving treatment with the latest technology to recover her body she was participating in experiments in Pentamonium.

After losing the Essence of the Saintess she could no longer create divinity. But recently with the Pentamonium’s persuasion she awakened her core and became a necromancer.

It was judged to be necessary because she required training through specific forces whether light or dark magic to control her supernatural power—the wildly growing branches from her body.

    “Here take this.”

Simon handed her a letter. Sasha’s eyes widened.

    “What’s this?”

    “It’s a letter from Cami.”

    “Really? From big sister Cami?!”

Camibarez couldn’t come to Pentamonium because she hadn’t prepared a thesis but upon belatedly hearing that Sasha was here she immediately scrawled out a long letter.

Sasha happily read the letter and soon tears began to well up in her eyes.

“Cami said she’ll definitely come see you when the first year ends and her vacation comes.”

“…Thank you. For delivering the letter big brother Simon.”

Simon gently smiled and patted her head.

    “Right! Look at this Simon!”

When she stretched out her arms tree branches sprouted out from her body. She could lengthen and shorten them at will.

Seeing it for the first time both Kajann and Serene were intrigued.

“It’s not something definitive yet but…”

    Kajann stepped in suddenly.

“According to Nefthis she’s planned to be enrolled in Kizen as an S.A. next year.”

    Hearing that Simon jumped up.

    “S-Sasha? As an S.A.?”

“Yeah. Sasha’s supernatural ability has extraordinary potential.”

    Certainly her potential was incredible.

Just looking at her creating that giant tree when she fused with that crazy priest even with the help of being a Saintess clearly showed her incredible potential.

It was common knowledge that a person with high potential with divinity had a low potential with jet-black but she excelled in both.

    “But… isn’t Sasha too young?”

Said Simon like a concerned father but Kajann shook his head.

“Sasha is fourteen. She meets the minimum entrance requirements.”

Simon turned and looked at Sasha in shock. Seeing that reaction Sasha pouted and puffed out her cheeks.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

    “I-It’s nothing.”

He had thought she was ten years old at the oldest. To think that she was only three years younger than him…

“It seems that her supernatural power to grow plants has slowed her growth like Nefthis.”

“I-I see. By the way Sasha.”

Simon tried his best to smile as he spoke.

    “Do you perhaps remember?”

    “Hm?”

“You know what happened back then.”

    She shook her head.

“Nothing comes to my mind after I was kidnapped by my godfather… No he’s not my godfather he’s a bad priest.”

    “Is that so?”

Simon thought it was better that way.

    “…”

    Sasha stared at Simon.

Truth be told she sometimes had nightmares.

Nightmares of becoming a giant tree.

    It was painful.

    Agonizing.

To survive her brain had repressed the memories of then but fragments of them sometimes remained in her dreams.

    But in those nightmares…

There was a moment she loved the most.

    “I’m taking back!”

She dreamt of a white man

    “Sasha!”

His cape fluttered in the distance.

    “No matter what!”

And he was here to rescue her.

At the end of every nightmare that prince with long white hair always came to save her carrying her out like a princess.

    That strength.

    That smile.

    That kindness.

Instead of jolting awake from the nightmare in that final moment when she was in his arms Sasha could sleep peacefully.

And the prince in that dream was…

    “What’s wrong?”

Smiling right next to her like this.

    “…”

Sasha’s face looking at Simon blushed. She quickly turned her head away and said

    “I-It’s nothing.”

She didn’t know if it had really happened.

After all that prince and Simon had different color hair and eyes.

Above all if Simon was indeed that prince it’d be strange… He’d have to be using divinity as a necromancer.

    But she was certain.

Her heart and her soul knew it was true.

‘This is the one who saved me.’

Because Simon was in Kizen Sasha decided to enroll at Kizen.

“Big brother Simon I’m curious about life in Kizen.”

“Really? Then shall I tell you a bit about it?”

Simon fixed his posture and began to talk.

“Freshmen arrive on a giant whale to the school and the view as you descend is really beautiful. As for the subjects you can major in we call them C.M.S. and N.H.P.C. Let me explain each one of them…”

This time again it seemed the conversation would take a while.

Kajann watched the two talk for a while before turning away. Serene Aindark was standing watching her smile growing faker and faker.

    “What’s wrong?”

    “No it’s just…”

She saw Simon talk about Kizen with such excitement to his junior and Sasha looked at Simon with a slight blush on her cheek.

“I was wondering how much more he has to charm others before he’s satisfied.”

“Hm? I don’t get what you mean.”

“You’ll probably ne~ver understand in your entire life!”

    * * *

    At the same time.

The second-year necromancer students were presenting their theses.

    Rip… Rip… Rip…

A girl in a green checkered uniform was trembling on the ground with tears in her eyes as her thesis was torn to shreds discarded pieces drifting down to the ground.

    “Trash.”

    The judges were livid.

    “It’s trash!”

“Did you really think this patch-work thesis would work in Pentamonium?!”

“It’s even ridiculous that you’re claiming to be a necromancer!”

The judges began to shatter the student’s spirit in front of thousands of spectators. The audience booed and jeered as well.

The students looked like their souls had been drained and the face of the next student to present their thesis turned pale out of fright.

“Trash! Trash! It’s all a bunch of trash! How can the second-years only be at this level?! How come not a single one of you can satisfy us?!”

The judge sitting in the middle slammed the table and ordered

“Next! Call in the next one!”
