    Chapter 352

“You’re a first-year too right? Nice to meet you.”

One of the students in the green checkered uniforms greeted Simon with a broad smile.

“I’m Benz majoring in Summoning at Alland.”

If ‘Kizen’ was the most prestigious necromancer school the three main public necromancer schools were considered one level below it.

    Alland Sierra Moyran.

When Kizen held its entrance exam every year these three schools would refer to its contents understand the trends and guidelines and then scramble to announce their entrance exams.

Although they were somewhat overshadowed by Kizen they were also elite schools populated by nobles from prestigious families.

‘This is my first time seeing a student from Alland.’

Since they greeted Simon first Simon also stood up.

    “I’m Simon. I’m a Summoning aspirant.’

    “An aspirant?”

Benz looked back at his two friends and they all burst into laughter simultaneously.

    “Ah~ My bad.”

“That ‘aspirant’ word sounds a bit funny.”

“So I guess you’re not serious about summoning like us?”

“If you’re majoring in a subject then you should be a majoring student. What the hell is an ‘aspirant’?”

Kizen students choose their major starting from their second year but it seemed Alland students choose their major upon enrolling.

It was a simple difference in curriculum.

Rather than getting angry from the mocking Simon felt somewhat refreshed.

    ‘Pier.’

    [Yeah?]

‘Do students from different schools usually get into a war of nerves like this?’

    [Nah they’re just d i ckheads.]

At that moment Benz approached Simon.

“You’re here to present your thesis right? I hope we’ll get along well Mr. Aspirant!”

He reached his hand out. It’d be awkward to ignore the handshake so Simon took his hand.

    Squeeze.

Then Simon felt Benz putting in excessive strength to squeeze his hand.

    ‘Man come on…’

Simon smiled wryly. It was childish and he didn’t feel like retaliating so he just stayed still.

Perhaps Benz was exerting all his strength. His hand was trembling.

Simon glanced at the other two students. They were already scanning Simon up and down.

    “…Hm Kizen’s uniform isn’t so bad.”

“They say the girls’ uniform is way better.”

“But it’s too dark and suit-like. Feels like it’s out of fashion. It lacks the charm of a good proper school.”

They were busy critiquing his uniform.

Simon also looked at the Alland students’ uniforms.

The majority of their uniforms were green but the exact design and logo placements felt heavily influenced by Kizen.

The pants and skirts with checkered patterns felt a little bit too much but they didn’t look too bad once Simon got used to it.

    Simon smiled.

    “Your uniforms are cool too.”

    “!”

The two flinched and their faces turned red.

“Woah! You saw that too right? Who is he to be throwing shade on our uniforms?!”

“So that’s how he’s framing us huh!? As Kizen knock-offs!”

    ‘?’

Simon had genuinely complimented them but the students from Alland were already feeling a sense of inferiority.

    “Ugh!”

And Bez was still grunting squeezing Simon’s hand. This time Simon applied a bit of strength in return.

    Crunch.

    “Gaaaaaaah!”

Benz let out a short scream and fell to one knee. The other Alland students raised their fingers in fright as if ready to cast a curse.

    “Let go of Benz!”

    “Ah.”

When Simon let go Benz glared at him even while tears were welling up in his eyes.

“You! How dare you hurt my hand…!”

    “There There he goes again.”

A new voice came from behind.

“Aren’t you getting tired of that pattern where you try to crush someone’s hand in a handshake but end up losing the strength contest?”

    “Ohohoho!”

The students who made their entrance by immediately criticizing Alland wore red uniforms.

They had crimson jackets and white shirts with six golden buttons. The high collars partially covered their mouths.

What they wore were like formal military uniforms and seemed less practical. When they made their appearance the students from Alland gnashed their teeth.

    “Seirra garbage…!”

    “Says the grasshoppers.”

The relationship between the two schools seemed extremely hostile.

Simon quietly stepped back as they exchanged weird nicknames and the tension built.

“Look at you guys trembling. I suppose you guys haven’t gotten over the shock of losing the ‘Battle of Sierra and Alland’ have you?”

Upon saying that the students from Sierra laughed among themselves. Benz who was from Alland felt his eyebrow twitch.

“Bragging over a mere 5 point difference now huh? First of all if you hadn’t bribed the referees in the battle of Alland and Sierra—!”

“There’s nothing uglier than ignoring the truth and bringing up conspiracies. And get the name of the competition right. It’s the Battle of Sierra and Alland!”

“It’s the Battle of Alland and Sierra!”

Whether it was the Battle of Sierra and Alland or Alland and Sierra it didn’t matter to Simon.

When he tried to quietly slip away as the two schools argued…

“Calm down everyone. Why are we fighting among ourselves?”

This time a male and female student in blue uniforms were walking closer.

They were the students of Moiran.

Their uniforms were distinctly different from those of other necromancer schools with a blue base and many decorations. They even had epaulets on their shoulders.

“Remember our goal is to defeat the common enemy Kizen.”

At those words the other two schools also turned their gazes to Simon.

“Frankly speaking it’s the Witch of Death and the Kizen HQ who are impressive. The school itself keeps on having issues. They’re always overestimated aren’t they? If we crush them at this conference their reputation will surely suffer.”

The other school students also started to get riled up showing their agreement.

“Right Kizen is way too overrated!”

“We’re all necromancers yet they always look down on us just based on the color of our uniforms.”

“They even one-sidedly canceled the friendly match because of that ‘BDMAT’ thing they decided on among themselves.”

“Yeah because of that test the Battle of Sierra and Alland barely even made the news!”

“It’s the Battle of Alland and Sierra!”

“Wasn’t the Saintess attack a complete lie too?”

“Have you actually seen a Saintess?”

    Clamor clamor clamor clamor!

    Simon’s head started to hurt.

    “…Please one at a time.”

Saying this Simon looked at the students from the three schools.

“Is there any need to tire yourselves out by bringing each other down like that? Isn’t it enough to be satisfied with your own school?”

    “O-Of course!”

“Our school is really great! We just hate that the people from Kizen like you are talking shit about us!”

“They started talking about how proud they were to attend Alland how Moiran had the best employment rates after graduation and so on.”

    “Then…”

    Simon opened his mouth.

“I suppose you’d stay at your original school even if you had the opportunity to transfer to Kizen huh?”

    “…”

    It happened in an instant.

A heavy silence crushed the surroundings.

All that could be heard was the whistle of wind awkwardly sweeping past the students.

    “Th-That’s…!”

“This is why I’m saying I hate Kizen!”

Perhaps they were embarrassed by the awkward silence as everyone started shouting again with flushed faces.

However none of the students insisted that they’d stay at their original school if given the chance to transfer to Kizen.

    [Bwahahahaha!]

Pier burst out laughing in Simon’s head.

[That was so damn satisfying! You got them good Boy!!]

    ‘No I was just…’

    “Oh my~”

    At that moment.

“What are you all up to?”

    Click click.

Serene was walking closer her brilliant ivory hair fluttering behind her. Simon had never been so glad to see her.

    “…”

Her appearance made all the bickering students shut their mouths.

An aura that naturally emanates from a person…

Hers was that of suffocatingly intense dignity.

Could anyone look down on her or even consider themselves her equal?

It didn’t matter whether they knew Serene or not. All the students felt a sense of pressure from her.

“Oh my why did you guys all suddenly stop talking? Please don’t let me interrupt you badmouthing Kizen.”

She approached the Alland students in the front with an alluring smile. Then she lifted Benz’s chin the one who Simon had shaken hands with.

    “Now speak.”

    “Y-Y-Y-You see…!”

As her mesmerizing eyes drew closer tears quickly welled up in Benz’s eyes.

    “I’m sorr—!”

    Rustle.

Just then a white feather landed on Benz’ neck.

“Kizen is so full of themselvesssssss!”

    Screamed Benz.

“No matter how much our school begs for a friendly match they completely ignore us all the time! Even if it’s an agreement between schools they always cancel it without consulting us! Do you all really think you’re that great?!”

    “Mhm! Good. That’s the spirit!”

Serene moved on to the next student.

“Adults always ask if we’re from Kizen just by looking at our uniforms. When we say we go to a necromancer school Kizen is the first name that comes up all the time. It hurts my self-esteem and I’m honestly fed up!”

“Good! If you have any unsettled feelings speak them honestly!”

“First of all the students there have no manners. I admit they’re elites but why do they always smirk at our uniforms when they pass by?”

“RIght right! I’m also from Kizen but I feel the same!”

Watching Serene force them to badmouth Kizen with her feathers Simon made a bitter smile.

‘…Whose side are you actually on anyway?’

Of course Serene had her own intentions.

‘Simon! You’re listening right? Kizen is such a terrible place!’

Serene was just purely making them badmouth Kizen not having any other ulterior motives.

Competing with Lorain for Simon Serene wouldn’t miss such an opportunity. She genuinely enjoyed hearing people badmouth Kizen.

    However…

‘Why is she doing this to us?!’

The students from other schools were experiencing hell.

Even if it was them venting it was different when they were forced to do it in front of others compared to doing it of your own free will.

‘What’s gonna happen to us now?’

‘M-Maybe we won’t be able to transfer now?’

    In fact everyone knew.

That the top career path for students for those in the three public necromancer schools was transferring to Kizen.

    “Now hurry up.”

But this crazy woman who wore a Kizen uniform with her eyes wide open was making them badmouth her own school. And the students couldn’t even refuse her orders.

    “More! Badmouth them more intensely!”

The tables had completely turned. The students looked around for help but…

    “…”

Despite this chaos none of the passing adults gave them any attention

Even with all this noise strangely they were being treated as if they didn’t exist. Belatedly everyone felt a chill down their spine.

This space was already under Serene’s control.

    “Then next!”

Serene moved on from Alland and Sierra and approached Moiran.

“I’m looking forward to hearing from Moiran who’s always compared to Kizen! What do you think of Kizen?”

She said in a friendly voice. Serene tiptoed slightly and placed a feather on the neck of a male student from Moiran.

    “…”

It was the very student who had shouted against Kizen at first.

He let out a small sigh then plucked the feather from his neck and dropped it to the floor.

    “!”

For the first time Serene’s expression changed.

“I’ll speak of my own will even without this.”

He glared past Serene and looked at Simon.

“I love my school Moiran located in my kingdom. Even if I had the chance to transfer to Kizen I’d stay at the school that chose me. And…”

    He continued with burning eyes.

“I won’t take back my statement that Kizen is overestimated. I plan to show the difference in this conference.”

    ‘Wow!’

Some students looked at him in admiration.

It was the same for Simon.

Rather than pointlessly nitpicking and talking shit about each other he preferred an open declaration of competition like this.

    Simon smiled and said

“Sure I’ll also do my best in this upcoming—”

    “I don’t like it.”

Pshk. Pshk. Pshk. Pshk. Pshk. Pshk. Pshk. Pshk. Pshk.

Countless feathers stabbed into the student and soon he knelt in front of Serene. She pouted.

“Why are you speaking against my will?”

An uncharacteristically deep voice came out from her distorted lips.

“All humans except for the very few I acknowledge should be obedient dolls before me.”

    Serene reached her foot out.

The boy lying face down reached his neck out as if to lick her shoe. His shoulders trembled perhaps trying to resist with his mental strength.

    “Stop it Serene.”

    Demanded Simon.

    “!”

That Serene Aindark who seemed unstoppable by anyone seemed to change completely at Simon’s words as a bright smile bloomed on her face…

    “It’s just a joke a joke~”

The students all regained their senses and she acted cute with a wink before clapping her hands. She skipped over to Simon and clung to his side.

“Well? Did you grow some hatred in Kizen now?”

“…You just forced them to say those things.”

“What ever do you mean?! I was merely encouraging them to be honest with their feelings. I didn’t do anything more.”

Worried she might cause more trouble Simon quickly moved away with Serene.

Kajann leaning against a pillar observing the situation let out a heavy sigh and followed.

“I knew this would happen… Don’t mess with the students from other schools. This is a warning.”

    “Hehe.”

Watching the three walk away the students who had been staring blankly let out a sigh of relief.

“…So there are big shots like her in Kizen huh.”

“Sh-She really is on a different level.”

    “But who was that girl?”

    “She had red hair right?”

    “Wasn’t it black?”

“Was it even a girl? Wasn’t it a guy?”

They couldn’t even remember Serene’s face anymore.
