Necromancer Academy’s Genius Summoner – 343

Chapter 343
Clang! Clash! Clannnggg!
The dull ring of metal colliding with metal echoed out again and again.
With the tall castle walls as a backdrop it was like a work of cinema as the two boys swung their huge swords with refined precision.
Claaaaang!
Simon was pushed back from the shock of blocking his opponent’s heavy weapon.
His hands holding the handle were shaking. A blister bursted the open injury rubbing against the rough finish of the greatsword.
“Excellent.”
His opponent Jule held up his longsword while openly complementing Simon.
A relaxed face. And he still hadn’t taken his sword out of its scabbard.
‘…Why is he keeping his sword unsheathed? It doesn’t look like he’s going easy on me.
“Be careful Simon!”
At Rick’s shout from behind Simon turned his head.
“Jule uses a cursed sword!”
A cursed sword…
In return for granting the wielder great power cursed swords were said to bring blood death and all sorts of misfortune.
In the past no knights were willing to touch them but since the opening of the Great Necromancer Age necromancers who have grown used to the curses began to wield them.
‘…A cursed sword wielder huh? There really are a lot of strange necromancers out in the world.’
Hearing Rick’s info Simon was amazed.
Fwish.
While Simon was still thinking about Rick’s words Jule tucked the scabbard into his sash and angled the handle to the front.
As his hands gripped the handle…
Slaaaaaaaaaaaash!
A massive sword strike appeared in the wall behind Simon. The wall rumbled threatening to collapse as fragments broke off.
Ducking under the strike once more Simon looked at Jule with wide eyes.

‘…The art of using the motion of drawing the sword for a powerful slash?’
But Simon couldn’t even see Jule drawing his sword…
‘Is he drawing the sword from that massive scabbard striking and then sheathing it again at such a speed that I can’t even see it?’
If he really had that kind of technique he should’ve overpowered Simon without even bothering to insist on using this sword-draw technique.
“Simon! That’s the power of Jule’s cursed sword!”
Rick gave a brief explanation.
Apparently Jule’s skill just now was indeed a form of sword-draw technique.
Jule clearly goes through the motions required to slash from a draw and then sheathes the sword again.
But from everyone else’s perspectives those motions are skipped. They simply never happened in this world.
It looks like Jule simply gripped the handle which never moved.
This wasn’t some nasty illusion or anything of that sort.
It was closer to a reversal of cause and effect or a manipulation of reality.
The opponent doesn’t see Jule swinging the sword because according to reality the sword was never swung. But the destruction the swing leaves remains true.
‘That’s a ridiculous ability. But at least…’
Simon caught his breath and raised his greatsword.
‘It seems to use a lot of jet-black and it takes a while before he can use it again after he uses it.’
Jule pulled the scabbard from his sash as if confirming what Simon thought and charged in. Simon also clenched his teeth and swung his greatsword.
Clanngg!
The two of them clashed once more. Simon’s enchanted greatsword and Jule’s red scabbard clashed violently sparks flying in all directions.
“Excellent! You even excel at swordsmanship!”
Jule’s eyes were full of ecstasy but Simon’s eyes were on something else.
The appearance of Jule made Simon’s allies give up on climbing the ladders up to the battlement. Rick was sending them to the south gate of the inner castle which was a good call.
“Rick! Head into the inner castle as well! I’ll try to do something about Jule!”
“Oh got it! Be careful!”
Rick added one more thing as he commanded his soldiers.
“And also you’ll be cursed if you get yourself slashed by the cursed sword! So don’t take a single hit!”
‘Easy for you to say…!’
Clang!
The sword and the scabbard clashed creating a blinding spark.
Swinging the scabbard Jule stepped aggressively forward with his right foot. At the same time he pushed up Simon’s greatsword with his scabbard and grabbed the handle with his hand.
‘!’
Looking at Jule’s series of actions Simon immediately let go of his greatsword and threw himself to the ground.
Slaaaaaaaaaaaaash!
Yet another line carved into the castle wall taking a strand of Simon’s hair with it.
And it wasn’t done yet.
The slash climbed up the wall bursting at the very top into a spray of sparks.
‘Woah.’

Simon broke out in a cold sweat. A huge crack was made in the castle wall.
‘H-He really seems like he could take down the castle wall by himself if he wanted to.’
He was S.A.5 but the rumor that he was the strongest in Kizen if he was in good shape may soon be proven true.
Jule stomped down on Simon’s dropped greatsword ensuring he wouldn’t be able to pick it up again.
“It’s good that you could dodge quickly but what were you planning to do after dropping your weapon?”
Jule raised his scabbard and charged straight in.
Simon silently reached his right arm forward. A magic circle had been drawn on his palm.
‘A curse!’
Jule was momentarily distracted by the magic circle but he spun around. Then with a loud clang he parried Simon’s greatsword away which was flying at him from behind.
‘I almost had him!’
It was a pretty good bluff but Jule’s instincts as a swordsman were very honed.
The greatsword spun in midair and landed in Simon’s hand.
‘I got the idea from Pier’s Greatsword of Destruction.’
The handle had a skeleton bone attached to it.
Simon fixed his grip on the greatsword and Jule charged in. The two clashed yet again and began to fight fiercely neither of them giving an inch.
“Haaaaaaaah!”
“Kugh!”
Claaaaaaang!
Simon’s hands trembled from the force. On top of that it was quite difficult to predict where his opponent’s sword would be coming from.
Thud!
For the first time he allowed a strike to hit him in the waist.
Simon gagged as a huge amount of barrier was taken off. A good hit would shatter his ribs even if it was just a scabbard.
As Simon staggered Jule took a step back and assumed a sword-drawing stance with the handle pointed right at Simon’s heart.
‘Dodge!’
Simon immediately threw himself to the side.
Slaaaaaaaaash!
As expected the sword strike went straight forward but…
Claaaaaaaaaaash!
Simon instinctively brought his greatsword up to protect himself. A red sword strike slammed into Simon’s greatsword.
‘Two strikes with his sword-draw technique?’
The power of the cursed sword able to be drawn invisibly was extremely intimidating.
A battle like this could be won or lost in a moment so losing the visual and auditory information to track the blade was terrifying. He had to rely solely on his sixth sense to dodge.
But what if his sixth sense doesn’t kick in or it was wrong? Simple. He would be cut in two.
“I’m happy to face someone with a sword after coming to Kizen but I don’t understand why you’re fighting with a sword when you’re a Summoning aspirant.”
Said Jule fixing his grip on his cursed sword.
“Show me the skills that you’re hiding. You have no chance unless you bring out those ‘Royal Bodyguards’ that you brag so much about.”
‘As expected that’s what he’s after.’
Jule had been targeting Simon from the beginning. It was most likely a command from Elissa.
If Jule defeated Simon it’d be the best-case scenario and if he lost it wasn’t too big of loss since Simon would be exhausted after using the royal bodyguards—the spell consumes a large amount of both jet-black and blood.
‘…I don’t really have to be taken in with Elissa’s plan.’
If Simon spent much more jet-black it’d be tough even to use skeleton mages to create flames.
‘I need to run!’
He made his decision.
Simon summoned two skeletons from his subspace and converted them into Bone Armor.
Jule waited with a satisfied smile thinking Simon would finally put up a proper fight but…
Fwhiip!
Simon threw his greatsword at him and while Jule was busy blocking it Simon turned and ran.
“Wha—!”
Jule’s face was filled with bewilderment.
“H-How can you show your back in the middle of a duel?? Stop right there!!”
Simon lightly shrugged the dishonor off and sprinted toward the castle wall. Jule had no choice but to run after him.
‘Come back!’
He retrieved the greatsword once more using the bone attached to it and gathered jet-black on his feet to run up the castle wall.
Jump!
Jule right after Simon also climbed the castle wall.
“I told you to stop! Do you have no shame as a swordsman??”
‘I’m sorry but I’m a necromancer.’
Just then soldiers on the battlement spotted the two of them.
“Squeak! Squeak! It’s the supreme commander!”
“The one-eyed person behind him is an enemy! Shoot him!”
The archers fired a barrage of arrows at Jule only.
But Jule moved his scabbard to deflect the raining arrows and caught up to Simon.
‘I-Is he planning to follow me this far?’
Simon climbed onto the top of the inner castle wall and Jule followed swinging his scabbard as he ran.
Clang! Slash! Claaaang!
The two boys’ swords clashed as they ran along the battlement.
“Gasp!”
Pausing the attack for a moment Jule grabbed the handle of his cursed sword and Simon quickly raised his greatsword in front of him.
Claaaaaaaaaaaaaaaash!
Jule’s strike slammed right into Simon’s greatsword.
The greatsword ended up shattering and the force of it sent Simon flying off the battlement.
“Squeak!!!”
“S-Supreme commander!”
Even while falling Simon quickly moved his fingers.
A turquoise cloud flew out like a rope and clung to the overhang of the battlements. The cloud then constricted pulling Simon back up to the top.
“Get out of the way!”
Jule rushed past soldiers smashing the weapons thrust at him with his scabbard as he closed the distance between himself and Simon who had just landed.
‘You’re persistent!’
Simon reached his index finger out.
{Sickness}
The curse of motion sickness shot out like a flash but Jule quickly blocked it by bringing his scabbard up in front of him.
The moment the curse touched the scabbard it shattered into pieces and vanished as if cancellation had been activated.
“A cursed sword is the king of curses! Such attacks won’t work!”
Jule’s relentless charge was that of a berserker.
His barrier gauge was dropping from the attacks scratching him on all sides but he didn’t seem to care.
Despite his simple and reserved appearance he was a battle-crazy lunatic.
“Heup!”
In the end Simon had to jump down off the battlement. At this point he was in the center-most city the area guarded by the inner walls.
‘I doubt Elissa told him to chase me this fa—!’
Fwoosh!
But Jule also came down the battlement.
Simon smiled bitterly.
‘I guess I don’t have a choice if he’s followed me this far.’
Simon ran down stairs into a shopping district in the city center and Jule followed after him.
Slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaash!
As Jule touched the handle of his sword the buildings above cracked and crumbled with a roar sending bricks and houses crashing down to block Simon’s path.
Rrrrrrrrumble!
As Simon dodged the debris a cloud of dust was kicked up around him obscuring him from view.
“Hiyah!”
Jule swung his scabbard to clear away the dirt and saw Simon lying on the ground.
“I got you now!”
Jule immediately lunged at Simon but an emerald flash of steel from the front suddenly parried his scabbard away.
“!”
Jule flinched and took a step back.
“From this point on…”
{Simon Original – Royal Bodyguards}
“I’ll give you everything I got.”
Said Simon placing his emerald crown on his head.
Jule finally grinned and fixed his grip on this cursed sword.
“I’ll gladly learn a lesson from the Special Admission No.1!”
“Before you get a chance to learn something…”
As Simon opened his hand 23 royal bodyguards charged in.
“You’ll be dead where you stand.”
