    Chapter 295

Figaro’s body fell apart and the tree created by Sasha’s powers was also beginning to crumble.

    Crack! Crack!

The divine barrier created by the power of the Saintess also shattered like glass.

Simon hurried over to Sasha before it was too late.

    “Sasha! Can you hear me?”

She didn’t respond still buried in the tree with just her face exposed.

Simon stuck his hand into a gap formed in the tree as it crumbled and yanked it open with all his might. Thankfully with the tree falling apart it was far easier than he expected.

The moment Simon stepped through the gap and pulled Sasha into his arms…

    ‘!’

Once again the world turned white.

Time space and everything else stopped. When Simon turned his head he saw the same girl from before sitting in a chair in the white space resting her chin on her hand with a smile.

[It was short but that was fun.]

Said the Essence of Purification with a soft smile.

[It’s my first time going inside a boy’s body and I’m surprised at how well you handled me. No one not even the girls has ever drawn out my power so quickly. I’ll commend you for this one!]

Simon also asked the question he had

    “…Did I just become a Saint?”

[Sort of. To be accurate you were an irregular that wielded the power of a Saintess but not a Saintess.]

    She shrugged.

[Honestly it wasn’t so bad but I’m more into girls you know~ I’ll go find a new girl who’ll accept me.]

“Fusing with you is out of the question on my end as well.”

Said Simon with a sour face.

“Since you’ve given my mom a hard time.”

[Mom? Ah! That woman? Her name was Anna if I remember correctly?]

She clasped her hands together with twinkling eyes.

[Anna was indeed the best! You know I just saw a glimpse of her while passing and it was love at first sight! And even though she was a vessel that my other sister had passed by I just couldn’t resist her! I ended up going inside her then got in so much trouble fighting with the remnants of my sister!]

    “…”

She giggled and waved her hand dismissively as Simon glared at her.

[Don’t look at me like that. We’re just really going with our instincts.]

She looked around bringing her hands back on the throne.

    Simon continued

    “What happens to Sasha now?”

[Although it was for a short while because I picked her as the Saintess I shall make sure she recovers. Then I’ll go find a new girl.]

    Simon was relieved.

“You’re sure you’re leaving Sasha right?”

[Yeah. Her life won’t be in danger even if I leave immediately but no matter what she’ll never be able to use her divinity again due to the reaction her body had after going on a rampage due to the drugs. I don’t know if that’s a good thing for her or not though.]

Then cracks began to appear in the white world.

[Ah it’s about time we part our ways.]

The Essence of Purification’s eyes curved like a fox’s.

[As a side note I~ definitely have no intention of inhabiting a boy’s body but I’m sure there are some ‘older sisters’ who would be attracted to you if they found out about your abilities.]

    “I don’t care about those.”

    Simon’s eyes filled with determination.

“Regardless of whose body you’ll inhabit next I’ll still be the one to stop you.”

    [Is that so?]

Her grin widened if only barely.

    [I’ll look forward to it.]

    Fwoooooooooooooooosh!

The pure white world shattered and Simon was back to his original world.

He felt some sort of intangible energy leak out from his body. His eyes hair color and even the length of his hair returned to normal.

The energy that left Simon’s body engulfed Sasha’s white flames appearing around her before then disappearing.

The needle marks scars abnormally bulged vessels and blood stains all over her body had disappeared.

Simon carefully picked her up and leaped down from the crumbling tree.

    Rrrrrrrrrumble!

Simon looked back sending his shapeless cape swishing behind him. The tree collapsed without a trace the process only accelerating once Sasha had left as well.

The war that would never be known was over.

    * * *

A few dozen kilometers away from the site of the Figaro incident Khelso.

A great battle was ongoing here too.

    “Ugh…!”

The Paladins dispatched by the Holy Federation were sprawled across the ground groaning in pain. Destroyed carriages were strewn about them leaving them with no means of transportation.

Amidst all of the people lying prone one person sat tall unharmed.

A woman in black robes who had apparently defeated all of these Paladins by herself sat crossed-legged on top of the hill of unconscious paladins.

    “U-Under whose…!”

Began a bearded Paladin gasping for air.

“Under whose order are you doing this!”

All of the advance paladins who had been ordered to bring in the Saintess had been ambushed. Even the ‘coordinate relic’ the device used to teleport the elite Paladins had been destroyed by her.

All that they found out about her was that she was a priest. And that she wore robes as black as the night sky.

They couldn’t even see her face because she pressed her hood down and wore a cat mask.

As the bearded Paladin didn’t hear any reply he continued while gasping for breath

“You must be a priest of the Federation as well. We’re here to protect the coming out of a new Saintess! What reason do you have for doing this when we’re all on the same side?!”

The woman who was doing something else finally responded.

Rising to her feet she shoved her hands into the pockets of her robes and leisurely approached the paladin.

    “Reason?”

    Pow!

Then she kicked him in the face knocking him out cold.

    “There’s no such thing.”

Knocking out all the downed Paladins she finally walked away.

Her back to the Paladins she removed her cat mask. White hair flowed dreamily down her back revealing the face of a young girl.

‘Never knew I’d be doing this. Honestly…’

Grumbled Rete as she walked away.

The situation had been wrapped up quickly.

Before the barrier was completely broken Simon Prince and Pier scrambled to cover as much of the Legion’s traces as possible.

They brought the skeletons corpse spiders and damaged or destroyed undead bits into the massive subspace so it wouldn’t be obvious.

[Should I go in as well?]

Prince who has done his secret handshakes with Simon three times already after incessant pestering was frowning.

    “…Of course.”

[Subspaces are so suffocating! I thought we were gonna go play somewhere having come out of Death Land after so long!]

“I’ll spare some time for you later but go inside for now. People might see you.”

With that the entire Legion withdrew and Simon placed the unconscious Sasha at the entrance of the village where she would be immediately spotted by anyone entering the barrier. Then he hid himself behind a bushy tree and waited.

A few moments later the barrier was completely broken and a group of Vengeance necromancers including Agent Blake hurried in.

“Over here! There’s a survivor here!”

The Vengeance agents spotted Sasha and rushed over. Simon who had been hiding behind a tree watched on to make sure Sasha was safe. However his eyes soon shot open wide in surprise.

Because he recognized a familiar face among the people who came in.

    “Sasha!!”

It was Camibarez. Behind her were Rick and Meilyn.

Camibarez ran up to Sasha sobbing as she hugged the unconscious Sasha tight.

    ‘Wh-When did they get here?’

And at the very back was himself. More specifically it was Elizabeth transformed into him.

She glanced toward Simon shook her head and shrugged.

‘…Haha it looks like even Elizabeth couldn’t stop them.’

Just like how Simon rushed over to rescue Sasha riding on Akalion the other three members of the group also realized that they couldn’t sit idly by while Sasha had been kidnapped.

Later he would learn that Rick modified a carriage from the logging village borrowed a horse and rose to Khelso.

    ‘…Everyone’s so stubborn.’

Still Simon found himself growing fonder of his groupmates who had come to the same conclusion as him.

At the same time he was relieved that he had somehow managed to defeat Figaro in time.

If Figaro had left the barrier after draining the villagers dry not only the agents from Vengeance but the rest of Simon’s groupmates could’ve been caught up in the battle.

Meanwhile the agents of Vengeance were busy assessing the situation.

    “Where’s Figaro?”

“Still searching for his traces. We assume that he’s dead given that the traces of divinity have entered the dissipation phase but we’ll keep looking.”

“…I wonder if this is the work of that necromancer who cut through the barrier and entered.”

As the agents took control of the situation Simon made sure Sasha was safely handed over to the medics.

    ‘Let’s return.’

The moment Simon was about to leave the barrier…

    “P-Please wait!”

Suddenly he heard a familiar voice from behind him.

Simon’s blood ran cold as he realized one of the four people had disappeared.

    ‘Don’t tell me.’

He calmly put his hand to his face in order to make sure he was still wearing Pier’s helm then moved his eyes to look behind him.

Meilyn had appeared behind Simon gasping for air.

    “It’s you Pion! Isn’t it?”

This was bad. Alarms sounded off in Simon’s head.

“I knew it was you when I heard that the necromancer slashed through the barrier with a white sword!”

Meilyn took a step closer clasping her hands together.

    ‘Wh-What should I do?’

A cold sweat ran down Simon’s back.

There was nothing worse than being found out as Pion this time. There were the necromancers of Vengeance around and Magnus might target the group if he found clues that the Commander he was after had shown up here.

“Who are you? Why do you always show up where we are? Please tell me something!!”

Simon immediately gathered jet-black in his feet and fled into the air. Meilyn ran after him startled but he had already climbed to the top of the tree.

    ‘That was definitely…’

    Meilyn’s eyes sparkled.

The jet-black on his feet was definitely dark blue. She’d seen that too many times in her time at Kizen.

No one else’s jet-black could even imitate that oh-so-familiar color.

    Meilyn shivered.

‘Don’t tell me Pion is really—!’

    “Meilyn?”

The sudden voice beside her made her jump in fright.

“I was worried because you disappeared all of a sudden. Did something happen?”

    Meilyn’s eyes shook violently.

Simon was right in front of her.

Right after Pion jumped up Simon appeared in front of her.

Was this possible if they really were the same person? She looked up.

    ‘!’

She saw Pion flying through the air and leaving the city while his cape fluttered behind him. And when she looked down Simon was standing beside her.

    ‘…’

‘I was sure of it though.’

Meilyn strode over and grabbed Simon’s hand.

    “Hey! Use your jet-black.”

    “Jet-black? Why now?”

“Don’t ask me why. Just do it!”

Simon gave her a confused look then obediently formed jet-black in his hand.

    ‘Ah.’

It was dark blue as to be expected.

This person wasn’t an imposter nor one of Seiwirr’s illusions but definitely Simon himself.

‘Th-That’s right. They can’t be the same person.’

She placed her hand on her forehead.

‘Although it was a momentary misunderstanding I can’t believe I thought Pion was Simon!’

She sighed feeling silly when she thought about it again.

    “What’s wrong?”

Meilyn blushed feeling even more embarrassed as Simon leaned closer.

    “N-N-Nothing! Let’s go back! Ahaha!”

    She hurriedly walked ahead.

Meanwhile still in Simon’s form Elizabeth quietly put her hand to her chest and sighed in relief.
