Necromancer Academy’s Genius Summoner – 286

Chapter 286
The battle was over.
They’d defeated all the gang members—they healed them just enough to keep them from dying—and tied them up against the base of a tree.
Contacting Vengeance or a vigilante corps from the neutral area should take care of them long-term.
“Hello~”
Meilyn leaned in with her best smile and waved to Sasha.
However Sasha was still a bit overwhelmed turning away and burrowing her face into Camibarez’ arms.
Meilyn straightened back up with a disappointed look.
‘She isn’t letting her guard down easily.’
Sasha almost said nothing to anyone but Camibarez. She merely glanced around like a wary animal.
“Hahaha! Great work everyone!”
Just then Seiwirr appeared clapping his hands.
While everyone else’s robes were covered in mud and blood after the chaos he was completely unscathed.
“Thank you for following my orders agents.”
“Orders my ass!!”
Blurted out Meilyn.
“Where have you been?? Why didn’t you help us out when we were fighting for our lives?!”
“Oh my how could you say that?”
Seiwirr just shrugged it off.
“I was also in a fierce battle of life and death. I took on over 30 men at once.”
“What do you mean?! The gang barely even has 30 members in total!”
“Agent Meilyn that kind of snarky attitude only disrupts teamwork. I’m afraid I’m going to have to deduct points from you in the ‘teamwork’ category.”
Conscious of her score Meilyn let out an exasperated sigh.
‘…He’s being so damn petty with the score honestly!’
“Ah he’s back.”

Rick dressed in his ‘old man’ rags from before returned alongside Simon after interrogating the captives.
They’d used the same method from back in the village.
“Looks like they really don’t know anything.”
Reported Rick.
“They told us that it’s not uncommon for clients to approach you in a neutral area without revealing their identity. It seems like they were just doing what they were paid to do.”
Simon nodded in agreement.
“I see. Very well done agents.”
Seiwirr continued looking around at everyone
“I could feel my heart swell to see how far you’ve achieved under my guidance and command.”
“…”
Simon scoffed inwardly.
“Ah right right. It’s all thanks to you agent.”
Chimed in Rick the social butterfly. But somehow his voice didn’t have the same amount of enthusiasm as it used to. It felt like a soulless compliment.
Rick was beginning to suspect Seiwirr who didn’t participate in the battle.
“Well then!”
Seiwirr pointed at Simon.
“Try suggesting what we should do from now on Agent Simon!”
“…”
As Simon stood still with a sour look Seiwirr tried to read his face and added
“If you come up with something close to what I think is the correct answer I’ll give you extra points in the strategy section!”
He didn’t care about points anymore.
Simon let out a light sigh and turned away. He saw the hill surrounded by darkness.
“We couldn’t figure out who the client is but we got the rendezvous point from the Sentinels’ captain. It’s only 20 minutes from here so I was hoping to go there and capture the client but…”
Simon turned his head again and looked at the remnants of the battle. Smashed carriages stained with thick blood covered the path.
“Our battle was too close by. They must’ve heard the commotion so I don’t think it’ll do us any good chasing after them.”
“Mhm! That’s what I thought too!”
Said Seiwirr agreeing with Simon.
“For now since Sasha’s hurt her leg I think we should get out of here before it gets any darker and head back to Vengeance HQ. Why don’t we look around for transportation?”
Seiwirr agreed and everyone scattered to search the area.
“Oh look at this Simon! There’s one carriage that’s still somewhat okay!”
Said Rick tapping the body of a nearby carriage.
“It looks like one of the wheels is broken. Can you fix it?”
“Of course! I just have to replace it with a new one!”
While Rick worked on fixing the carriage Simon searched for horses to pull it. Most of the horses had either fled in the panic of battle or been killed in the crossfire.
‘I guess I can’t make a skeleton horse either.’
Simon squatted over the corpse of a dead horse and examined it.
‘Most of the carriages on this continent are pulled by a species called ‘hanobread’ a crossbreed between a monster and a horse. Only the corpses of pure horse monsters can be turned into skeleton horses.’

‘This one is a hanobread as well.’
As Simon stood up and looked around he saw a horse lying on the ground puffing and panting.
Simon rushed over to it.
‘Oh no.’
It seemed that this horse had been tied to the carriage and wasn’t able to escape. However it was dying a stray arrow having pierced all the way through its stomach.
“That horse is hopeless. Perhaps it’s better to just finish it off and put it at ease.”
Seiwirr had stepped in before anyone noticed it.
“Still let me take a look at the wound.”
Simon took a potion out from his subspace.
“I’m saying it’s useless.”
Seiwirr shook his head and left moving to backseat Meilyn.
Simon popped open the potion and pretended to pour it on the horse’s wound then checked behind him several times.
‘No one’s looking right?’
Everyone was far away. Taking this chance Simon carefully put his hands together against the horse’s wound.
Don’t let anyone know.
As quickly as possible.
{Heal}
Whirrr!
White divinity flowed from Simon’s palms and began covering the horse’s wound.
‘Focus focus.’
Learning light magic from Farahann the Professor of Defense Against the Holy Arts had paid off.
The horse’s wound quickly began to heal. Soon its breathing became regular. Perhaps it knew it was being healed. It was calm.
‘There we go.’
The wound was neatly sealed. After finishing the treatment Simon just sprinkled what was left of the potion on the wound and stood up.
“I think this horse can run now.”
Rick and Meilyn flocked in both exclaiming
“Really?”
Seiwirr also joined them and his jaw dropped when he saw that the horse’s wound had indeed been healed.
“A-Ahem… Well done Agent Simon! Actually I told you to finish it off to put it at ease in order to provoke you and get the best out of—”
“Yes yes.”
Next Simon went to check on Sasha’s condition.
Just then Meilyn walked up beside Simon and whispered
“Hey Simon don’t you think Agent Seiwirr is a little suspicious?”
A small grin formed on Simon’s lips.
“He is. You’re probably right about everything you’re thinking.”
“Hm?”
Simon didn’t explain any further.
He arrived next to Sasha who was still staying close to Cami. Her leg seemed to be taken care of having already been wrapped in a bandage.
“Hello.”
Sasha jolted upright in surprise and tried to run away from Simon.
“Calm down you’re safe.”
Simon quickly took a few steps back to give her some distance.
As Sasha fell into Cami’s arms Cami gave her a gentle hug stroking her hair.
Meilyn also put a little distance from them and squatted down.
“Well at least she listens to Cami well.”
Then she rested chin on her hands and stared at Camibarez and Sasha.
She watched them hugging and snuggling with each other with a gentle smile.
“Cuteness plus cuteness equals super duper cuteness!”
‘…What is she talking about?’
Simon also squatted down next to Meilyn and signaled to Camibarez.
Camibarez slightly nodded her head after getting Simon’s signal then said to Sasha
“Someone else might attack again if we stay here. Why don’t you come with us?”
At that Sasha quickly nodded.
“…Anywhere is fine if I can be with you miss.”
Thankfully Sasha obediently followed Camibarez.
Soon the five of them hopped into the fixed carriage. Rick was assigned to be the coachman Simon and Seiwirr sat in the front seats and Meilyn Sasha and Camibarez were in the back.
While Simon and Seiwirr were trying to figure out where to go Camibarez kept on speaking with Sasha to keep her from getting too anxious.
“Are your parents in the town?”
Sasha shook her head with empty eyes.
“I’ve never seen my mom or dad.”
She was an orphan.
“Then Sasha do you perhaps want to go back to the village?”
“I don’t like the village it’s scary!”
She responded quite strongly.
“Scary? What’s so scary?”
“…The people.”
Her shoulders started to shake and leaves began to sprout before falling to the ground.
Camibarez quickly hugged her tightly and calmed her down.
“Mhmm alright. We won’t go to the village.”
Saying so Camibarez gave a quick glance to Simon. Simon nodded.
‘The people in Khelso did call Sasha a ‘monster’.’
A child with an innate power.
To ordinary people she may seem like a monster especially when she can’t control her powers properly.
This time Meilyn asked
“If your mom and dad aren’t around were you living alone in the village until now?”
Sasha took her head.
“My godfather would come by sometimes.”
“Your godfather?”
“Yeah.”
“And who’s that?”
“I’m not so sure either. But he helped me when I was sick. He made sure to stop my pain.”
Simon remembered the traces of someone coming and going into Sasha’s house. There were syringes and medicines as well.
Simon made sure to take a mental note of the existence of the godfather.
‘Okay so if I got this straight…’
Sasha is an orphan. She was treated like a monster by the Khelso villagers because of her innate powers. She is afraid to go back to the village because of that.
And it seems that the person she called her ‘godfather’ came by every now and then to stop her powers from getting out of control.
‘That’s enough for now I should focus on returning to Vengeance.’
Simon unfolded the map.
“Agent Seiwirr let’s head this way.”
When they first arrived the route was ‘Vengeance HQ -> Khelso Sasha’s hometown -> Halldun mountain range’.
However they decided this time to go straight from the Halldun mountains to the village where Vengeance HQ was located.
He was worried about monster attacks because there was a forest in the middle of their path but there was no better route to escape from pursuers and Efnel priests.
“And…”
Simon looked at Seiwirr.
“I need you to contact Vengeance. We don’t know when Efnel will attack so I think it’d be better to ask them to meet us halfway and escort us.”
Seiwirr fell completely speechless for a second then stuttered
“Ha! Haha! I-I don’t think that’s a very good idea Agent Simon! Vengeance is rather busy so we need to deal with this on our o—”
“Gimme a breeaak.”
Meilyn smiled as if she had caught him red-handed.
“It would be impossible for an ace agent of Vengeance to not even have a communication crystal ball to contact HQ wouldn’t it?”
* * *
[Kugghh!]
[Koouurgh! Koouurgh!]
If there were a hell on earth this would be it.
In a pool of blood bloated monsters were groaning in eternal agony.
There were hundreds of them.
In the middle of the hell that had been formed out of all the monsters in the mountain range a man—his orange hair fluttering behind him—was standing straight. One side of his face bore the scar of an ancient burn and the pupil of one his eyes was faint.
Beneath his priest robe he wore pants with countless pockets and had various belts and packs strapped across every inch of available skin. Each and every compartment was bulging with syringes drugs and more.
“I hope this works.”
His face not showing a single trace of emotion the man plunged the syringe into the nearest monster’s wrist. Then one of the monster’s fingers bloated until it was the size of a rock.
The monster writhed in pain but the man stood back up without a single regard for the monster’s suffering.
“What a disgusting hobby.”
The man turned toward the voice that came from the darkness and then he bowed to his guests.
“Benedictio daea ladies.”
Out of the darkness four female students in white Efnel uniforms approached. Each of them was armed with their own preferred weapon.
One of them stepped forward and confirmed
“Are you the conductor?”
“Yes it would appear I am. My name is Figaro.”
“I am Lilinette.”
After a brief exchange of greetings the two stood facing each other.
“Conductor what in the world did you do?”
Interrupted a student behind Lilinette pointing to the corpse of the monster.
“I was trying to create a profit from those cursed by the goddess.”
Answered Figaro in the same tone one might talk about the weather. In the Holy Federation monsters were simply viewed as those cursed by the goddess.
Lilinette didn’t care much for monsters either so she brought the conversation back on topic.
“Let’s just talk about work.”
“Yes allow me to brief you all on the situation first.”
Lilinette shrugged at Figaro’s suggestion.
“What is there to brief? We just have to kidnap a person in a neutral area who has high divinity compatibility.”
“Things have gotten complicated. Kizen smelled a rat and stuck their dirty claws in.”
Lilinette’s eyes widened at the mention of Kizen. The students behind her whispered among themselves as well.
“Kizen was a step ahead. Since your arrival was delayed I made the first move. I hired a local gang to bring the target here.”
“Clever. Did it succeed?”
“No.”
Figaro shook his head and continued
“Kizen caught up and took the girl. They’re probably gone by now.”
“…Hmph.”
Lilinette frowned.
Figaro continued without a moment’s hesitation.
“If Kizen is involved she wouldn’t just be a normal person with ordinary divinity compatibility. She has an innate power and she may be a candidate for the role of Saintess.”
“Let’s go after them.”
Eagerly said Lilinette.
“Well if Kizen attacked and took the target then we can attack the Kizen this time and take her ourselves.”
Figaro grinned.
“Are you sure? A gang with over thirty members was wiped out.”
“Battles between Kizen and Efnel are inevitable and…”
Lilinette grinned.
“Kizen’s necromancers are no match for us Efnel’s priests.”
