    Chapter Index

    “Mentor ……?”

Weak legs that seemed ready to fall at any moment.

Moving through the shaking, pacing through the trembling.

    Weakness.

    The voice is subtle.

Krysia’s physical condition was very bad, she was too weak, so weak that walking was a problem, and she could only move her feet with difficulty step by step, slowly approaching the Xu system amidst the sound of rapid breathing.

The image is quiet and silent, yet carries the power to touch the heart.

The Witch proved one thing with her actions.

In the presence of true will.

A sickly body doesn’t stop it in the slightest.

The light fell on the young girl, further illuminating the bloodless, pale face as she trembled, reaching out her own slender, slender five fingers to rest on the chair Xu System was sitting on.

With this pivot, the pressure on her traveling plummeted considerably and she was able to walk to the front of the Xu system.

    Then.

Kryssa saw it, the familiar face that was currently deep in sleep due to excessive emaciation.

    “Mentor …… is fine…”

She cocked her head and blinked.

The truth of the matter was not quite as imagined; nothing had happened to the Xu system, merely a simple sleep, nothing more than that.

    “Great.”

A calm voice echoed through the air.

Inside his chest, all the accumulated sadness and worry also dissipated, changing back to his usual empty posture.

    What should …… do next?

Krysia was a bit confused, after confirming that Xu System was fine, she suddenly didn’t know what to do, was she going to lie back on the stone slab and patiently wait for Xu System to wake up?

Light and shadow go hand in hand.

When the light appears, the shadow follows in step, for once out of the range of the light’s illumination, the shadow becomes unable to exist.

    Then.

When the light falls silent, where should the shadow go?

About this question, Krysia didn’t know how to answer, her life, her everything, had long been accustomed to staying at the side of the Xu system.

Anything beyond that was of no interest to the witch.

Only, with the witch’s current physical condition, even if she was awake, what could she do?

She even struggles to take care of herself.

    Not to mention the rest.

So Krysia gave up those unrealistic thoughts of helping with the chores as usual.

In a very quiet stance, her face calm and indifferent, her arms crossed in front of the small of her back, she leaned on the edge of the table and stood silent and watchful over the sleeping Xu system.

The room was dim, the light hazy, disoriented and disillusioned, as if it had become a touch of old times.

Delicate and gentle, it enveloped the figures of man and maiden in it.

    The former is asleep.

    The latter stands.

It was the only thing the witch thought of, the only thing she could do at this stage.

At the same time, it was the only thing she wanted to do.

Since the light is sleeping, the shadow stands guard until the light warms the world again and provides the shadow with its existence.

    But–

How should I put it, the feeling was a little subtle, and a little peculiar.

“Mentor’s face ……”, Krysia muttered, she is not as tall as Xu Department, usually although she can see Xu Department’s full face, but did not observe too many details.

And now, the Xu system was sitting and asleep, just in time for the standing young girl to get a full view.

This was the first time she had ever observed the Xu system so closely.

The witch saw it, the eyes puffy with overwork from long hours of poring over books.

The witch saw it, the fingers that were scribbling all the time, leading to a familiar sleep that kept their grip on the pen.

The witch saw it, the haggard face that was so overworked that her lips were a little white and tiredness meant quite a lot.

    She saw it.

    She saw everything.

See the years passing at the temples, see the breath quivering in the nose.

Seeing the Xu system sleeping deeply, the depth of that deep sleep behind everything that had been given.

    Ah…

    Ahhhh…

Is that so? Is that what it turns out to be.

The sinking feeling seemed to run through Krysia’s heart for a split second, causing her pupils to dilate slightly.

In the original time, the witch thought that when the light fell silent, she would lose the shelter of the shadow.

    But now.

    The facts tell the witch.

Even when the light falls silent and the sun briefly goes out, that residual warmth still penetrates deep into the soul and provides the shadow with a path to follow.

The witch didn’t know what kind of words to use, what kind of actions to take to deserve that hot and warm light, her mind gradually building up, her thoughts getting more and more confused, more and more urges piling up inside her chest.

The witch was so clumsy she had no idea how to do it.

    And so.

The witch made the best of what she could think of based on her understanding.

She carefully stretched out her ten fingers, and in as gentle a motion as possible, she slightly cupped Xu System’s cheeks, leaning down so that forehead was pressed against forehead, so that the tip of her nose touched the tip of her nose.

Gray-silver hair hung down, a few strands sliding across the man’s face.

    “May you be well.”

    Krisa Kristina prayed softly.

There seemed to be a moment in the calm, undulating voice that flashed with a mix of emotions, but the overly calm words made one wonder if it was an illusion.

Stick it, touch it, feel the temperature of the light.

Time seemed to have come to a standstill.

A few short seconds, but as if experiencing extremely long changes, countless never-before-experienced feelings erupted in the heart of the witch.

    And what exactly is that?

Feeling guilty, Krysia kept her forehead pressed against hers, not wanting to let go of the warmth and closeness, even though she knew that as a “personal object” she shouldn’t be able to transgress in such a way.

    Steep.

It seemed that Krysia’s movements had disturbed the man’s sleep.

The Xu system frowned slightly and let out a muffled grunt, a small sound that frightened the 17-year-old witch into fleeing.

    “!!!!!”

With her weak and feeble legs, the witch froze and ran at a breakneck speed that she hadn’t seen before.

She climbed back onto the slab as if fleeing.

Grabbing the bedding that the Xu system had prepared for her.

    Jump in and hide.

Curl your body into a ball.

Like a silkworm that closes itself off, it wraps itself tightly, leaving no gaps, afraid to leave the outside world the slightest space for observation.

Gently chirping and slightly squirming, it’s adorable.

The heart was beating violently, bringing about a tension like never before.

The witch didn’t know why she was so scared, she had trespassed but simply plastered her forehead, yet, her mind just panicked to no end.

    “Mentor?”

Waited a long time for nothing.

Much less waiting for a reprimand from the owner.

Kryssa cautiously poked her head out, letting her eyes venture out of the bedding, and only after realizing that the Xu system was still asleep did that nervousness settle down and turn back to its usual emptiness.

    Just.

    “It’s weird …… it’s hot ……”

Confused, Kryssa brushed her palms over her snow-white cheeks and realized that the sides of her cheeks were burning.

The witch suspected that she might be running a fever; was this the price of trespassing on her master?

    The Witch’s knowledge has increased.

She felt that this was an acceptable price to pay, as long as her master didn’t find out.
