Chapter 45: Him and Him Alone

Hustle.
Noisy.
The city of Allentown is still as bustling as ever today.
At the steel and gear forged clearance gates, merchants rode in and out on steam magic wagons with smiles and joy on their faces, and the residents chatted with their families and friends as usual.
None of them have found out.
In the crowds entering and exiting the city of Ellenson today, there was not a single great nobleman in sight.
To ordinary people, great nobles were incomparably rare existences, so even if the great nobles disappeared, few people would notice.
Now, here and now.
The city of steam that stands on the north side of the world.
All that’s left inside is a large number of civilians, and a middle class not qualified enough to know what’s going on; the real top brass is long gone.
“I’m going to …… get the good stuff…as soon as possible…”
The skies over Ellenson City.
Kryssa no longer hid it, and using her maximum magic output, she released her Wind Sentry to make herself fly faster, and rushed straight to the busy market in the center of the city.
When she landed, it was an immediate surprise.
About Krisha.
About the girl with the pretty face.
The market vendors knew that she was related to a full-fledged mage, suspected of having a relative or something like that, or being the mage’s personal maid.
It was also because of this elusive relationship that the witch was not harassed in any way.
But today.
Witness Krysia using magic.
The commoner vendors in the market were overwhelmed with shock, staring wide-eyed at the wand-wielding Krysia, their tones becoming trembling.
“Wizard, that kid is actually a wizard?!”
“Hiss …… If I had known that, I should have been more polite before.”
“Goddess of the Harvest is above, this is incredible!”
People are talking.
Some were envious, some were jealous, and some were completely lost in thought.
But soon.
As if they were united, all of them uttered all kinds of praises from their mouths, praising Krysia to the skies, saying that she was beautiful, that she was kind, and that she was benevolent.
What’s more, they have the audacity to give away free merchandise.
There are small, delicate mechanical pocket watches, raw, crunchy and delicious fruits and vegetables, and women’s clothes that are too gorgeous to be true.
The traders put up a fight.
Scramble.
The look was frenzied.
Taking the best items each could muster, they tried to force them on Krysia.
“…… boring.”
Krysia calmly gazed at the farce before her.
Is it because of the loss of the massive vapor cover of the steam engine?
Somehow the hideousness and ugliness on people’s faces became unmistakable in what was clearly the same market, the same vendors, the same buildings.
Everyone crowded into the same space, fawning over her to please her.
But.
Wasn’t this the scene he used to want the most?
No one beat her, no one spat on her, everyone fought to be her friend, everyone grabbed to be close to her, and wasn’t this the kind of life she used to dream of?
Why is it that by now, it’s become incredibly distasteful?
“Ah, that’s right ……”
Looking down at her white hands and then at the delicate and unusual wand.
Krysia suddenly came to her senses.
The people on the scene, the crowds that swarmed around them, were not attracted to Kryssa, but to a beautiful female mage named “Kryssa”, a mage with a brighter outlook than the average person.
It wasn’t the witch they liked, much less Kryssa herself.
From start to finish.
The one who will reach out to the witch, who will embrace her like the sun and give her warmth and hope.
It’s always just the one.
He, and he alone, would not care if his hands were stained with sludge as he took the foul-smelling witch by the hand and gently brought her home.
“I’m going to do my mentor’s bidding as soon as possible”, Kryssa thought to herself as she waved her wand and used wind magic to forcefully disperse the vendors that had surrounded her.
As the vendors cower in fear, Krysia quickly locks onto a wide variety of items.
Food.
Household goods.
Clothing props.
Use wind magic to sweep it up, categorize and divide it into areas, and then use the space ring to store it in a unified manner.
The whole process took less than three minutes.
Magic is such a convenient thing.
“So that you can go back.”
Kryssa glanced at the spatial ring, sensing the stuffed space within, and nodded down lightly, flinging out another bag of coins and distributing them to the various vendors.
Equivalent exchange.
This was the first lesson that the Xu system taught the witch.
The witch took it to heart.
“Gust of Wind, Gather,” Without giving the vendors any chance to strike up a conversation, Kryssa waved her wand and the whistling element of wind once again wrapped around her as she flew up and rushed back towards the location of the courtyard.
She completed the task quickly, adding up to less than ten minutes round trip.
Maybe get a compliment from your mentor?
With that thought flashing through her mind, Kryssa increased her magic output, making the wind fiercer, making the flight faster, and couldn’t wait to get back to the Xu system.
But.
But why.
The chest would sink like this.
“Hoo-“, in the sky, a strong wind whistled.
Kryssa flew on the gale, approaching the courtyard at an ever increasing speed, almost there, clearly almost there, but the uneasiness in her heart was becoming more and more pronounced.
She covered her chest, her eyes blank.
Uncertainty, not knowing why, only knowing that his heart was so oppressed that he subconsciously sped up his flight.
This long-lost pain.
causing the witch to panic.
“Back to…Back to the Mentor ……”
“As long as there is a mentor, everything can be solved”, the witch who couldn’t understand what was happening, subconsciously, chose to rely on the person she trusted the most.
The Hsu Department, her mentor, her sun.
As soon as she returned to the Xu system, any uneasiness or pain would go away, Krysia felt that way from the bottom of her heart.
Soon.
Flying at high speed, Krysia saw the familiar courtyard.
The thought of the man in the courtyard lessened the depression in his heart by a few points.
So Krysia picked up her speed, rushing towards the courtyard with an urgency she didn’t even know why, as if she was desperate, even forgetting the caution that the Xu system had always taught her.
Hurry up.
Faster.
A little faster, please.
The witch frantically activated her Royal Wind Technique, and finally, as expected, she flew near the courtyard.
But that’s when.
The sky, dark.
“Bang !!!!!”
Overwhelming swarms of fireballs fell from the sky like millions of falling meteors, appearing suddenly over the city of Allison.
It roared and roared and raged and raced.
High-speed impact breaks everything.
And one of the bursts of fireballs crashed down in the very courtyard that Kryssa was trying to reach.
“No, wait! …… don’t, don’t …… no!”
Anticipating something terrible, Krysia’s pupils constricted and she let out a panicked sound she had never heard before, so panicked that her voice turned shaky.
The sinking pain in his chest peaked at that moment.
