Chapter 44: Reflections of Four Years
by Jessie@AFNCCThe Xu system met Krysia in the late fall of the sixth year of the simulation.
It is now the tenth year of the simulation.
In other words, it had been nearly four years since Xu had saved Krysia, taken her away from the filthy alleyway and given her a “human” life.
Four years, four years together, how heavy a weight is that?
Even the Hsu system who was a pro.
It is also impossible to give a precise answer.
Splat–
Splat–
Pushing open the door to the meditation room, the successfully promoted Xu system walked down the corridor, the soles of his slightly thicker boots making a heavy muffled sound that constantly echoed in the air.
The buzzing was repeated, continuous and sustained.
Steep.
The Xu system stopped in its tracks and raised its head slightly, looking out at the azure sky and bright big sun on the outside of the porch.
“The sun is really shining today. ……”
The overly harsh sunlight evaporated all of the watery fog that had hovered over Ellenson City all day long, and the sun was so shiny that the Xu system subconsciously squinted its eyes.
The halo drives back memories.
Between the haze of his vision, System Xu remembered many things that had happened to him since he had arrived in the analog world.
For a total of ten years of simulation, the Xu system spent six years on its own, and the last four years living with a witch.
It’s amazing.
Obviously the former is much longer than the latter.
Without remembering much of what happened in detail.
All that was remembered was the daily routine with the witch.
For example, two years ago, Krysia had practiced cooking hard and finally made a decent dish, and despite a somewhat charred surface and a slightly bitter taste, Department Xu ate it all.
Another example is that a year ago, Kryssa practiced level 3 water magic, and because her water elemental talent was too strong, it caused a large flood of water to wash over the courtyard, leaving all the flowers and plants bare.
She herself was drenched and dripping all over.
Krysia immediately apologized to the Xu system.
The Xu system smiled, not blaming or harshly criticizing the young girl, but simply taking her to change into clean clothes and using the wind and fire composite magic after a long time to help dry the young girl’s wet hair.
One everyday.
Just the little insignificant things in life.
Yet it is like a faint miracle that shimmers through the mundane years and makes you feel warm and good.
“It’s just a shame to have to say goodbye to that life for a while.”
Xu System’s eyes were still focused on the sky, the clear blue sky was beautiful, like a beautiful painting, evenly spread out, with no annoying water vapor.
But it was precisely this that caused a strong sense of crisis to rise in the Xu system.
This situation is not normal.
“In order to supply the entire city, the underground steam plant in downtown Ellenson was extremely large, and that kind of power, that amount of steam, was far more raging than what we see today.”
“But in the last month, the downtown steam engine has been moving less and less.”
“And, the steamships were out frequently, transporting some of the men away from Ellenson.”
There are questions.
There’s definitely something wrong.
Department Xu had traveled to the Magician’s Association to pry for information, but to his dismay, the top brass of the association had disappeared at some point, just like the nobles.
Only some of the most basic personnel are left to take care of the normal functioning of the Wizard’s Guild.
From this, Department Hsu came to the conclusion that [something is going to happen in Ellenson City]
There’s not enough intel to tell what’s going on.
But you can’t go wrong with staying away.
“I’ve already broken through to Grand Magician, even if I live in a different city, I won’t have any financial problems, I must evacuate as soon as possible.”
Xu System pondered in his mind.
A magical shield stood in front of him, shielding him from the overly harsh sunlight.
It wasn’t Xu’s own magic.
“Thanks, Krysia, that was a good use of your magic shield”, the Xu system looked to his right, at some point the 16 year old magical girl had walked up to him.
Four years had passed, and the witch had long since ceased to be that scrawny, pathetic look.
She’s gotten a lot taller.
Exquisite features.
Gray-silver long hair hanging over the neck and shoulders, like overlapping and intersecting water light, when there is a wind blowing, it is like the water surface slightly flicked, lightly rippling.
She didn’t have that vivacity that young girls of her age have.
The expression was calm, without joy or sorrow.
But that doesn’t take away from how good looking and attractive she is.
Light white long skirt wearing the whole body, light blue outer lining short coat to add a few gradient, not too much fancy dress, the girl’s dress is very simple, coupled with the Xu Department gift of the aquamarine necklace, it is easy to outshine the so-called aristocratic Qianjin of the same age.
The beauty of the natural world is all the more beautiful and unique when it has been polished by malice.
“You flatter me, it’s what I should do.”
Krysia stood beside the Xu system, crossing her arms in front of the small of her back and acting rather quiet.
The voice is the same as the face.
Contains no emotion.
Looking at such a well-behaved magical girl, Xu System felt regret in his heart, he had tried many times over the past four years, but still had not been able to recover the magical girl’s emotions.
“Krysia, has there been any news out there while I was gone?”
Walking on the road leading to the living room, the Xu system opened his mouth and asked.
“In accordance with your instructions, I kept an eye out for the use of the steamships, the last three of which left in the morning.”
“Morning? This morning?”
“Yes.”
Listening to Krysia’s calm voice of reply.
Xu System’s footsteps paused, the sense of crisis in his heart stronger than ever.
“Something’s not right, I can’t believe there’s not a single one left, is this a complete abandonment of Ellenson City?”
“It looks like we have to leave too, Krysia.”
“Leave today.”
The Xu system took a deep breath, and his eyes closed slightly before finally opening.
He turned to the young girl, “Kryssa, you will now make a trip to the market and purchase enough food and household items, as much as you can, and load them into your space ring and bring them back.”
“There’s no need to hide your magic anymore, go ahead and use the Gust of Wind to fly straight through.”
“Yes, at your service.”
Didn’t ask why.
Kryssa nodded softly, then took out her wand, ‘Gray Rekindling’, and with a wave of her arm, the wind element wrapped around her body and rushed into the sky.
As for Department Xu, he walked quickly into the study on the outer side of the courtyard.
Pull two magic books from the shelf.
The sense of crisis in his heart grew stronger.
Intuition told Department Xu that relying on level 4 or 5 magic alone would never be able to cope with that unknown danger.
Therefore, he had to take advantage of this short period of time that Krysia was procuring to learn the level 6 and 7 magic that could only be utilized by an Archmage, adding to the next evacuation.
[The atmosphere in Ellenson City is getting weird. What are you keenly observing?]
