Chapter 40: The Witch Thinks of You as the Sun
by Jessie@AFNCC“Boom…”
A roaring explosion came from outside.
It was high level fire magic where the flames rose high into the air and focused on a single point to burst.
The bright firelight even illuminated the night.
Within the city of Ellenson, the three major divine churches of the God of Fire, the God of Blacksmiths, and the Goddess of Harvest, and the magicians under their command, were constantly releasing all sorts of powerful magic as a way of manifesting the greatness of the gods.
This is the time of year when the Church of God secretly climbs on top of each other.
Whoever can win from this will get more devotees in the coming year.
“Rumble!”
“Rumble!”
The intense sound caused by the various magical bombardments in the distant sky interrupted Xu System’s memories.
He looked to his side, and the young witch had a confused expression, clutching her necklace and gold coins in her hands, still with that vacant, lifeless, quiet look.
The magic outside the house was just too bright.
Flare until the light enters the house.
Illuminating Kryssa’s half-white cheeks, her long silvery-gray silky hair, and her small, softly-lined nose.
And the hands that couldn’t help but keep rubbing the necklace.
Krysia seemed to want to wear the necklace, but she didn’t know how to go about it because, in her past miserable life, there was always only pain and suffering, and her knowledge of the necklace was limited to looking at it.
The white fingertips touched the necklace loop, awkwardly, carefully, gently touching it and withdrawing it instantly.
Fear of accidentally damaging it.
The movements are green and the fingers are clueless, which makes you look at them with pity.
“Krysia, let me help you.”
“…… good.”
The Xu system reached out and took the aquamarine necklace from the girl’s hands, stepping behind her and grabbing the secret silver bands at each end of the necklace and passing them across her neck in as gentle a motion as possible.
Wearing process.
The Xu system’s fingers grazed the nape of the girl’s neck.
It was an amazing feeling that made Kryssa a little ticklish, and a little hot, as well as a little likeable.
She subconsciously rubbed against it, her neck bumping against the chain straps on either side with a pleasant clatter.
But the girl quickly realized that this would cause unnecessary trouble for the Xu system.
So she regained her footing.
Feeling warm hands pick up the long hair between them, they tugged the two secret silver chain bands to cross at the back of the neck, finally pressing down on the silver clasp and clicking it to secure the aquamarine necklace in place.
The snow was heavy and the outside of the house was bustling with activity and clamor.
Under the man’s gentle tug, the secret silver necklace inlaid with aquamarine beads just settled on the young girl’s slightly hot neck.
Why is it hot?
The witch wondered.
It was an experience she had never had before.
“Not bad, not bad,” Xu system took a few steps back and looked up and down at Krysia who was wearing the necklace with a satisfied look on her face.
“As I originally expected, this necklace really suits you, Krysia.”
The Xu system smiled.
Exclaimed from the bottom of my heart.
Winter is stern and cold, and that doesn’t change even on a lively New Year’s Eve.
But right here, right now.
The Xu system felt like it saw, enough beauty to make winter melt away.
Long gray-silver hair slightly covered her snow-white neck, the scars that had once been there disappeared, replaced by delicacy and softness, the emotionally deprived witch bowed her head and cupped her hands around the aquamarine necklace that dangled down from the nape of her neck.
Refraction.
Reflections.
Inverted reflection.
At the same time that Krysia was gazing at the Aquamarine Necklace, the hazy, dreamy blue glow was reflected in Krysia’s empty eyes in the midst of the shaking.
At first glance, the pair of eyes seemed to have regained their animation.
Though only for a brief moment.
It soon dissipated as the light became unstable.
However, the Xu system still felt that the moment was beyond gorgeous.
Such pride was born in his heart, such a feeling, my witch is so good looking.
Then, the Xu system inquired to the expressionless girl, “Krysia, how does it feel, do you like it?”
The girl nodded softly, “Love it.”
Then added politely, “Thank you.”
……
It’s late at night.
The New Year’s Eve arrived at the time of separation.
After presenting the New Year’s gifts and the New Year’s money, Department Xu left the kitchen.
Heading in the direction of the study, he prepared to meditate on another breakthrough in breaking through his mental power before he went to bed tonight.
After he was gone, Krysia was left alone and fuming for a long time.
A long time, longer than the entire memory of the past.
It was messy, more so than the chaotic thoughts within.
Waiting for Kryssa to come back to her senses.
Only then did she realize that she had unconsciously cleaned up the dishes and gone back inside her room.
She was alone, curled up in the corner of the bed with her knees in her arms, fidgeting for a long time.
“Gifts ……”
“I, too, have my own …… gift…”
A subtle sound echoed through the air.
It’s very flat, no ups and downs.
As things stood, in fact, Kryssa still felt that an object like her that could be discarded at will was in no way entitled to receive a gift, as well as a favorite from its owner.
Objects have to have the self-awareness of objects.
One should not ask for more things that do not belong to them.
But.
Listening to your master is also a must.
The master told himself to take it, so there was no refusing it, and Krysia held the dark blue necklace on her chest, her eyes confused with a few waves.
Love ……
Love it. ……
Loved the gift.
Sinking thoughts continued to accumulate in his chest, growing heavier and more disorganized, but he couldn’t figure out exactly what they were.
It was too difficult for a witch who had lost her feelings to try to understand those thoughts.
Not a big problem though.
Krysia had her own solution, she needed neither understanding nor catharsis, it was enough for her to stay by Xu’s side all the time and follow his words and commands.
Tear–
Sunlight from the window caught Krysia’s attention.
That’s when she realized that she’d been fuming in her room all night, so much so that she hadn’t even noticed the sun rising.
First day of the new year.
The sun’s light has never been stronger.
With a brutal and violent gesture, it forcefully penetrated the curtains and fell on the fuming demon girl, as if it were the salvation that the man had made two months ago.
“Praise be to the great Sun God.”
“May the Sun God always shelter you and me.”
Outside the house.
Citizens of the city of Ellenson, one after another, came out of their homes and prayed on this first day of the new year facing the sun, hoping that the sun god would shelter them.
Sun? ……
Kryssa bowed her head and buried her cheek between her legs.
Said in a volume only she could hear:
“Thanks to the Sun ……”
Not thanking the gods.
Rather, she was thankful for the ‘sun’ that had broken into her world, brought her out of the quagmire of despair, brought her light and hope, and belonged to her alone.
In repeating the plea for help over and over again, he was the only one who heard the witch’s voice and was willing to extend a warm palm.
That warmth.
That pity.
It had been etched so deeply into the Witch’s heart that it could not be forgotten.
For this reason, the future of the witch will only live for the “sun”, and if she loses that gentle light, that gaze, then the witch will completely lose the meaning of her existence.
Fall into an abyss that even you are afraid of.
