Chapter 35: I won’t abandon you
by Jessie@AFNCCKrysia cried as she fled.
She fled far away.
Far, far away.
So far away that the knights sent out by her “father” could not find her.
Since then, young Krysia has been a wanderer, constantly, consistently, switching back and forth between half-dead and near-dead.
Her demonic identity was just too recognizable.
Well-meaning people who had wanted to adopt Kryssa made horrified noises and quickly fled when they saw the horns above their heads.
Why?
Why?
Young Krysia didn’t understand until she was a little older when she realized the reason for people’s fear.
It was a great age ruled by the gods, the gods were benevolent and generous, sheltering humans with their supreme divine power, while the demons were evil fools, always killing humans to fight against the gods.
As a result, people loathe the Demon Race from the bottom of their hearts.
“Get out, get out!”
“Great Sun God, send down your blazing fire and burn this witch to death!”
People either drive them away in disgust or chase them with swords.
Krysia couldn’t find a place to settle down.
So, all she could do was heed her mom’s last words and continue to run away, farther away, to a place where even she could survive.
With this in mind, Krysia wandered for a long time.
She has laughed at picking up naturally fallen fruit on the side of the road and biting into it to sweeten it into her heart.
She had cried and tried to join in the games of human children, only to be ostracized and bruised with stones.
And then later.
Laughing and crying are gone.
All that’s left is fear.
The older she got, the more pronounced Krysia’s demonic features became.
Just a little closer, one could clearly see the horns on top of her head, the scales on her body, which were the very symbols of demons.
And so more violence descended.
They hit the girl far above her head with hard stones, and rotting, smelly food, making her covered in stench and wounds.
They were happy to pour out force, either kicking or whipping, taking pleasure in the girl’s pleas and screams.
It was even a matter of tying the girl to the back of the wagon and letting the wagon drag her and rub her against the ground.
Mom ……
Here’s why exactly ……
The light in the girl’s eyes disappeared completely during one of the ordeals, and since then she has been emotionally flawed.
I don’t know what joy is, I don’t know where sorrow comes from.
“Actually, that’s kind of a good thing.”
Krysia said this, her eyes staring blankly ahead, no ripples, just an eternal void.
Not being sad means not crying, which saves a lot of energy, and after the lack of emotion, she escapes much faster than before.
If you run fast enough, you won’t get hit.
Krysia shared her experience of escaping to the Xu system, and as she said this, her face was expressionless and her tone didn’t rise or fall in the slightest.
She couldn’t feel the cold, she couldn’t feel the heat, she couldn’t feel the temperature of her heart.
It’s like a robot.
State your past.
She told Department Xu that the muddy water wasn’t good to drink because it had a lot of sand and gravel in it, which made it hard on the stomach.
In comparison, city drains are probably better, and the rats in them can still be used to feed the hungry ……
“That’s enough, Krysia!”
The Xu system snapped out, interrupting the girl’s words.
He took a deep breath, his voice unprecedentedly heavy: “I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, I …… am very sorry for making you recall so many painful things.”
The sound of self-recrimination broke the silence in the air.
Especially after meeting Krysia’s empty, lifeless eyes.
That remorse and guilt.
It gets deeper.
“Sorry ……?” , the demonic girl looked confused, she couldn’t understand why System Xu was apologizing to her, was it because she had said something she shouldn’t have.
The Lord can do no wrong, and the sun that redeemed her can do no wrong.
Krysia felt that way from the bottom of her heart.
Since the Hsu system is correct.
Then the fault should be your own, right?
Thinking of this, Kryssa looked towards Department Xu and suggested in a sincere tone, “I must be pretty useless for making things so difficult for you, so please discard me.”
Useless items should be thrown away, that’s what the girl had in mind.
After all.
That’s how she was thrown out by her “father”.
The Witch thought of herself as having few virtues, except that she excelled in obedience.
As much as she loved Xu Xiang, as much as she wanted to stay by his side for the rest of her life, as much as she never wanted to go wandering again, if Xu Xiang chose to discard her, then she would definitely leave far away.
Like once her mother told her to run away and she obeyed for a long time.
Yes.
Just do as you’re told.
Kryssa sat regimentedly in place, fingers crossed and pressed against her thighs, waiting for the Xu system to pronounce judgment and tell her to get the hell out of this wonderful, dreamy home.
It’s a bit of a bummer, but it can’t be helped.
After all, he was so ugly, incompetent and lowly.
It’s only natural to be discarded.
To have such a period of being treated with tenderness, one should be contented, how can one ask for more?
“……”, Kryssa sat still, still with the same empty, godless face, but the crossed ten fingers, were unconsciously rubbing together.
What was clearly only a few seconds of waiting seemed to stretch out infinitely.
It made even the young girl who had lost her feelings inexplicably uneasy.
Finally.
She waited for the final “judgment”.
Warm, familiar, large, broad hands gently covered Kryssa’s head, moving from side to side to fondle it, a faint heat and comfort passing through.
“I am not going to abandon Krysia.”
The Xu system said this.
His voice was soft, but his tone was firm, and at the same time full of heartache and compassion.
“Eh,” the result was clearly beyond the girl’s expectations, and she let out a flat surprised sound, unexpectedly adorable, looking up at the Xu system.
“Really, Mentor?”
She asked.
“Well, really.”
The Xu system replied.
The doom that had loomed over us since birth suddenly disappeared, and the beauty that had only been dreamed of now truly shone into reality.
It’s like a light for the girl.
Krysia fumed for a long time.
She thought that if it were the old days, she would have laughed with joy or been moved to tears.
But after the emotional defect, she never experienced either emotion again.
“…… Thanks.”
Silence in the meditation room.
The girl suddenly felt the tip of her nose go a little sour.
Maybe she was tired from practicing meditation, she thought so.
……
[The Witch’s talent amazes you, but what concerns you more is the Witch’s past and experience]
[Ravaged, bullied, hunted, abused, tortured …… every evil you can imagine, Krysia has suffered almost everything, her life has been full of suffering, and if not for her young age, there is even the possibility of something irreparable]
[You can’t help but wonder if man’s malice exceeds that of the demons in the abyss.]
[You realize that it’s not enough to cultivate Krysia’s power.]
[You also need to develop Krysia’s personality so that she becomes an independent person who can live well even without you]
