Chapter 8: Evening Study
by Jessie@AFNCCIt wasn’t exactly that Cheng Ming was thick-headed and didn’t care about his hairdresser’s feelings, it was just that a big earthquake was going to hit his home tonight.
There was no way to avoid it, so how to protect his sister from the least amount of harm was what Cheng Ming needed to focus on.
This dinner period between late afternoon and evening study is short, just a little over an hour.
It’s almost as if you arrive home, eat dinner and then have to hoof it back to school.
My mother, wearing an apron, was in the kitchen preparing dinner, a scene that was as close to a memory as you can get.
My sister sprawled lazily on the couch, watching TV, with a lollipop in her mouth, baring and licking it, mostly bought for her by my mother on her way to pick her up.
Cheng Ming sat beside his sister, and could not help but rise up in a didactic mind, grasping his sister’s small hand and said:
“Leigh, it’s almost time for dinner, don’t eat too much sugar, you won’t be able to eat dinner later and you’ll get cavities.”
“To hell with you! Hmph!”
Cheng Li nonchalantly took a bite on the back of Cheng Ming’s hand, leaving a pool of sticky saliva.
“Xiao Ming, Xiao Li, wash your hands and come over for dinner.” Mother Li Ying shouted.
“Oh ……”
Cheng Li reluctantly got up on the couch.
Cheng Ming, on the other hand, went to wash his hands first.
“Dad didn’t come home again?” Cheng Li asked as she first put her own lollipop in the empty bowl and picked up her chopsticks.
Li Ying took off his apron and hung it on the backrest of the chair and said, “Your father is probably eating with the leaders ……”
“But isn’t Dad the boss now?” Cheng Li said in disbelief.
“Your dad is just a small business owner with a lot of socializing and hustling to do.”
“Oh, so ……”
Cheng Li nodded plausibly.
One of the most important and crucial points of a real estate company is to get land for development.
Unless they win the bid outright, they will have to go to other developers to contract some land for development, and there are some developers who just specialize in speculating on land matters and make a lot of money.
Dad had to travel a lot when he was with the URA, and was either handed over to work overtime for the slightest thing.
After going into business, he became busier and couldn’t take care of his family.
Cheng Ming has the impression that, apart from New Year’s festivals, the most the family gets together to eat is actually breakfast, which may be one of the reasons for the family’s problems.
“Mom, Rhi, I’m going to school.”
“Ride slowly at night.” Lai Ying admonished.
“Brother, come back early in the evening.” Cheng Li said in a commanding tone.
“Uh-huh.”
If it was before he was reborn, Cheng Ming would have been confused.
But Cheng Ming, who had been reborn and returned, knew that his sister was trying to get him to help with her homework.
My sister is generally considered a good student and a good kid, and if I had to say that she has any bad habits, it would probably be laziness.
Cicadas chirp on summer nights.
The first class of the evening study session was twenty minutes of English reading.
The English member sat at the tape recorder, put in tapes of English textbooks, and led the group in reading the words, with the English teacher coming in now and then to make surprise checks to see who hadn’t opened their mouths.
The multimedia classroom of the future has students who go for on-demand movies, animations and music.
And now, some students put tapes of their favorite singers into a tape recorder and play them during and after school.
No matter what, there is never a shortage of people who like to screw up and die.
Cheng Ming looked at the word list and mostly remembered these basic vocabulary words.
English is both important and unimportant to a programmer. If you want to be a low-end assembly line coder, there really isn’t much English used.
Programmers like Cheng Ming who want to go further need to read the technical documents and information of foreign gods first. Many plug-ins and projects are made by foreigners, and if you want to use their stuff, you have to read and understand their description documents.
Translation software alone tends to have areas of raw grass that will have to be corrected manually.
Furthermore, if your English is poor, you won’t be able to communicate with foreign bigwigs on the code hosting platform github, not to mention having to deal with foreign clients when you become a manager.
Cheng Ming, who was lucky enough to pass English IV in college, has honed his English skills to a practical level entirely on the job.
The evening reading was over, but Cheng Ming was in a daze, what should he do next?
Homework?
There are a lot of blank rolls, but there are always some priorities as to what to write first and what to write second.
Cheng Ming turned his head and his gaze fell on Lin Jingyi, his temporary tablemate.
A fifteen year old girl’s body has begun to develop.
Only the loose school uniform had a strong covering ability, the slightly bulging breasts could only be seen from the side to see the slight bulge, the real size must be more than that.
Under Cheng Ming’s gaze, Lin Jingyi, whose cheeks were slightly hot, lifted her sideburns and was able to pretend to be serious about her homework at first.
Gradually, Lin Jingyi’s ears burned, and her neck was tinted with a layer of rouge powder, and her body became uncomfortable, as if there were mosquito bites.
Evening self-study has a teacher sitting in the classroom, the whole classroom is only the sound of turning books and the writing sound of the pen tip rubbing the test paper, Lin Jingyi did not dare to directly voice out to question Cheng Ming.
If you make too much noise and get the attention of the class, you’re screwed.
Especially since they’re still at the co-ed table, for good reason.
“Ming, what do you keep staring at me for! Is there something dirty on my face?”
Lin Jingyi finished writing on her homework paper and pushed it in front of him, raising her elbow to hit Cheng Ming’s arm.
Lin Jingyi’s handwriting is neat and elegant, writing standard in every stroke and never being lazy.
Although the font gave the teacher a good impression score, there have been several embarrassing situations when writing essays where the essay was too late to finish.
Cheng Ming also took a pen and wrote on a piece of paper, “I wanted to ask you what your after-school homework is today.”
“Xiao Ming, I really want to beat you up for your mom, what the hell are you listening to in class? You have to do math first, then English, the English teacher is on duty tonight, she might spot check your homework later. Then physics and chemistry, and finally language.”
The homeroom teacher, Ryu Hyakken, was instead the least strict about homework and papers.
But that doesn’t mean he’s irresponsible. If the memorized giveaways are wrong, a penalty for copying is inevitable.
Ryu Bakken takes essays most seriously, and it’s okay if you don’t write the whole essay. But the beginning and the end must be written, using this stereotypical exercise to get basic marks from the marking teacher.
Cheng Ming finally put away his disorganized mind this time and started working on the questions.
Rebirth back to do junior high school math and English topics, a big feeling of graduation number back to the novice village slaughter, who can block me!
Although there were a thousand questions in her heart, Lin Jingyi looked at Cheng Ming, who was seriously writing his homework, and still held back from asking.
Ming ran off as soon as class was over, totally from the homecoming department, so just catch him near the end of class.
Genius. I’m a genius.
The corners of Lin Jingyi’s mouth hooked up slightly, revealing a shallow smug smile.
After class, Wang Hao came to find Cheng Ming to go to the restroom with him, and asked him if he wanted to go play for an hour after the end of the evening study session before going home, with the excuse that he had accompanied the resident students for a session of evening study, which was simply seamless.
It wasn’t the first time Cheng Ming and Wang Hao had done this, and most of men’s revolutionary friendships start from doing bad things together.
Cheng Ming politely refused Wang Hao, saying that he hadn’t finished his homework, and he really hadn’t.
The real reason, of course, was that he had to help his sister with her homework.
Near the end of the evening study hall, the suffocating students began to chatter.
The English teacher wasn’t so insensitive as to let the students get rowdy.
Lin Jingyi stared at the clock in the classroom, thinking about grabbing Cheng Ming’s hand one minute, no, ten seconds before class ended.
Seeing that the time was not yet up, but the nervous Lin Jingyi was afraid that Cheng Ming would run away, her right hand directly grabbed Cheng Ming’s left hand, but she herself was unaware of it.
Cheng Ming, however, didn’t care and even held her hand back, continuing to work on the problem.
Okay, it’s now!
Calculating the right time, Lin Jingyi put her left hand out as well, and grabbed Cheng Ming’s arm with a death grip.
“Something wrong?” Cheng Ming asked with a blank expression.
Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding–
The whole classroom was filled with all sorts of noises for a while.
“Jingyi, let’s go home together.”
Lin Jingyi’s tablemate Zhang Jiajia shouted from several seats away.
“Ming, wait for me, we’ll go together after school.”
After Lin Jingyi finished speaking, she immediately let go of Cheng Ming and turned around to face Zhang Jiajia who was walking towards her and said.
“Jia, you go ahead, I’m going to finish my homework before I go back.”
“You want to attack the last question of the last question of the math paper don’t you? Don’t waste your efforts la, let’s just do the first question of the giveaway, and for the remaining two questions, two or three of us in the class will be lucky to do it.”
“How do you know unless you try.”
“Take your time trying then, I’m going home to watch TV and maybe catch the last episode.”
Zhang Jiajia found another girl from the same class who was roughly on her way, and accompanied her home together.
Cheng Ming got up and crossed the stool, turning back to Lin Jingyi, “Then I won’t accompany you to do the questions ah.”
“Little Ming, I really want to beat you up, can’t you understand human language?” Lin Jingyi crossed her arms and laughed with a kind face.
