    Chapter Index

Cheng Ming’s body sank to the bottom of the bathtub while Cheng Li sat on his lap, her delicate back resting against his forehead.

If Cheng Li were to take a bath alone, her petite figure would be overwhelmed by the water if she was not careful.

But with Cheng Ming as a cushion underneath, the little head was able to safely emerge from the water.

A slippery touch came from Cheng Ming’s thighs, and it was clear that it was just an ordinary hot water bath, but it soaked up the feeling of a milk bath.

    “Phew ……”

    “Ha ……”

The cozy pair made comfortable noises.

Floating on the surface of the water inside the bathtub were a couple of yellow ducklings that I had just bought at the supermarket.

Cheng Li grasped a small yellow duck in one hand and fought on the surface of the water, quacking when he pinched it.

The water cooled, and in turn, they rose to leave.

Cheng Ming was satisfied with the results of this test, if the full score was one hundred points, his performance could score one hundred and twenty points, I guess.

Of course, that doesn’t preclude him from being so tired that he can’t move any of his five limbs.

Cheng Li’s side also did not do anything beyond the scope of her current age.

This should be the closest I’ve gotten to my brother besides that time.

You can’t be in a hurry, you have to take things slowly, and anyway, if you have one, you have two.

Back home, after dinner, Li Ying poked Cheng Ming in the back of his head and asked, “Xiao Ming, do you know what day today is?”

“Today? What day?” Cheng Ming asked back, confused.

    Special holidays, no.

Whose birthday is it? It’s not.

What else is there? Cheng Ming racked his brain and couldn’t think of anything.

“All I know is that I have to go back to school tomorrow.”

“You also know that you have to go back to school tomorrow ah, midterm scores ah, midterm scores, you can check your midterm scores tonight at six o’clock, hurry up and go check, the phone number is ……”

“You don’t have to check your grades specifically, do you, you’ll know tomorrow when you go to school, there must be a lot of people in a hurry to check their grades, the hotline over at the Department of Education is all busted up.”

“You kids, don’t you care at all how many points you got on the test?”

“How many points I can score on my own was in my mind when I finished the exam, and I lost my pass, so I can’t check my results even if I want to.” Cheng Ming said with his hands spread out, the pass is not sure if it is still there, just pretend it is not there.

“I knew you wouldn’t take good care of your pass and put it away for you so you wouldn’t be able to find it when you needed it.”

Lai Ying handed over the pass.

    Confirmed. It’s the real mom.

Cheng Ming, under the watchful eye of his mom, picked up the phone and dialed the score checking hotline, and as expected, the line was busy.

“Don’t give up, keep fighting, squeeze in.”

Cheng Ming had to continue wasting time on the phone, finally, after four or five tries, a cold mechanical voice rang out from the other end of the phone, “Pass number: …… Candidate’s name: Cheng Ming, Math: 150 points, Language: 130 points, English: 148 points… …Full score: 695 points.”

The full midterm score is 740.

This score was a bit lower than expected, and Cheng Ming was still able to step within the realm of 700 points himself.

But it was always higher than Cheng Ming’s score of four or five hundred points in his previous life.

English is supposed to lose points on the essay side, and the language is likewise losing some serious points on the essay, I think.

Physics is out of 70 and Chemistry is out of 50, both of which unsurprisingly got all their marks.

Ideology and History both had full marks of 50, and neither the short answer nor the quiz questions should have had full marks, being deducted a point or two like that each time, 45 and 47 respectively.

The full marks for both Biology and Geography, which were the first to be completed in the second year, were 20, a grade Cheng Ming could not change, 16 and 15 respectively.

Sports, on the other hand, has a full score of 30 points, and Cheng Ming took 24 points.

“Ming, what grade did you get on the test?”

    “695.”

    “Hear that right? Not 595?”

“Mom, you can trust me a little more.” Cheng Ming said with a bitter smile.

“The score line of the first middle school this year is 630, you are firmly in the first middle school, I’ll give your Auntie Ren a call and ask Jing Jing how many points she scored.”

“Ren Mei ah, your family Jing Jing test a few points?680 My little Ming ate shit luck, actually test 695, usually do not see him test over 600 points, this time actually almost 700 points, the midterm test so high what is the use of this luck to stay in the college entrance exam is almost …… “

From scores to family stories and old stories, that’s how older women talk.

Cheng Ming rubbed his hands together and asked, “Mom, is Jing Jing there? Let me have a chat with Jing Jing.”

It wasn’t just that he wanted to interrupt his mom’s chat, he really had something to talk to Jing about.

“Ren Mei, Xiao Ming wants to talk to Jing Jing, ask her to come over.”

“Don’t talk for too long, the phone bill is expensive.” Lai Ying admonished.

    Then take care of yourself.

Just as the earpiece reached Cheng Ming, Cheng Li sneaked over and lay on Cheng Ming’s back, eavesdropping openly and honestly.

    “Hello, Jing?”

“Ming, good evening, do you still live over there? I thought you moved somewhere else.”

“For the time being, it’s still living over here, and when the time comes, it might be two runs.”

“I heard you got 695, that’s so tricky, obviously I studied so hard and helped you with your review, and I still ended up lower than you.”

“Shouldn’t you, as a master, be happy that this disciple of mine has scored so high?”

“Happy to be happy, but still not happy.”

“It’s not bad for you to take 680, it’s good enough for you to get to the first middle school filing line. Anyway, after enrollment, you still have to touch the bottom of the exam, the high midterm score is useless.”

“You know that too, so how are you getting ready?”

“It’s too much to prepare for a touch test in two months when we’re just on vacation, isn’t it?”

Although the second secondary school also has a touch test, used to rank the number of seats, but the test subjects can be less than a secondary school, on the examination of the language, mathematics and English, ranking does not affect the classification, a secondary school touch test can be good directly into the rocket class.

“Brother, words, words.” Cheng Li poked Cheng Ming’s cheek suggestively.

Jing Jing’s side seems to be getting a lecture from her mom as well.

“Ming, remember to pick me up tomorrow.”

“Then you remember to wear a dress tomorrow.”

“Eh, going to wear a dress to school?”

“Yeah, it’s not like there’s an official class tomorrow, and it’s not against school rules to wear a dress to school.”

“It’s not a matter of violating school rules or not, it’s very shy to wear a skirt in front of your classmates.”

“I bought it to wear, are you going to use it as a nightgown? That’s it, calls are expensive, I’m hanging up now, bye.”

Cheng Ming hung up the phone in a fiery rage, not giving Jing a chance to refuse.

Will Jing wear a dress tomorrow? I’m so looking forward to it, no more than letting her wear it for herself alone.

“Brother you’re smiling so hard, are you thinking of something bad?” Cheng Li said as he pulled at the corner of Cheng Ming’s mouth.

    “I’m thinking good thoughts.”

Lin Jingyi directly flung herself onto the bed and buried her head in the pillow.

“Ahhhhhh, Ming the idiot just knows how to molest me.”

Complaining, but actually kind of happy.

It’s been days since I’ve seen you since that day when I bought the dress, and I’ve only even spoken tonight.

Lin Jingyi immensely missed her school days.

There have also been times when I’ve thought about going over to Ming’s house to play, but there’s not much of an excuse, and every time I walk downstairs, I back out, afraid that they’re not at home, afraid that I’d be rude to come over uninvited, and so on.

It’s just that the childhood relationship is still too weak, and it would be nice to take it a step further.

Lin Jingyi picked up the pink envelope on the side of her bed, which contained a piece of white paper and red hand string, and the garbage cans in the room were piled high with balls of scrap paper.

It’s been a day and still no satisfactory writing.

“What to do? Do we really have to give this away?”

With her aunt and uncle divorcing, Ming and Lai are going to be separated, and this is the perfect opportunity for her to step in and fill Ming’s void.

But there is also the possibility of being rejected and not even being a childhood friend or best friend after that.

However, if you don’t do anything, it always feels like Ming will get farther and farther away from you.

Don’t want that. Don’t want that.

Lin Jingyi rolled over and touched her belly with one hand and her breasts with the other, boys like this stuff, right?

If you can’t do it, do it the hard way and make Ming take responsibility properly.
