Chapter 3: The Blood Sea Coffin (2/2)
by Jessie@AFNCC“Activate the Tianxing Mirror!”
“Buzz…”
The ordinary bronze mirror, with its flowers, birds, fish, and insects symbols, suddenly came to life, moving and shifting, and then, the ancient mirror blazed with a brilliant light, as bright as the sun, shooting rays straight into the sky.
“Sizzle…”
The light shot out, and the blood sea was instantly evaporated by more than half. As the light spread, the blood sea continued to shrink.
“Screech”
The light from the ancient mirror seemed to provoke the creature in the coffin. The lid of the coffin, which had been slowly sliding, suddenly opened halfway.
Then, a hand, as white as jade, reached out from the coffin and gently pressed down.
A tremendous, terrifying force pressed down, as if the heavens and earth were collapsing.
Everyone felt a suffocating pressure on their chests, and they couldn’t summon the courage to resist.
At that moment, the light from the ancient mirror grew even more blinding, radiating a searing heat like a blazing sun, forming a pillar of light that shot up to the sky and slammed directly into the descending hand.
“Boom…”
A terrifying shockwave exploded in the air, but it was silent. Ye Qing felt as though his chest had been crushed by a giant rock, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.
On the wall, Summer Po Po, Lin Hu, and Chen Zheng also spat out blood, their faces pale as paper, and they quickly retreated.
It took a long time before the storm that had filled the sky slowly dissipated, and the blood sea and the coffin seemed to have suffered a severe blow, becoming thinner and eventually disappearing, along with the coffin.
“Ha… finally gone!” Lin Hu and Chen Zheng breathed a heavy sigh of relief, glad it was over.
“The creature in the coffin has become stronger. After taking the full force of the Tianxing Mirror, it still didn’t die!” Summer Po Po frowned, looking at the now dull and lifeless ancient mirror, a trace of pain flashing across her wrinkled face.
“So terrifying!! Was that the creature?” Ye Qing, hiding behind the haystack, watched the entire event in shock, his eyes wide as he swallowed. The power earlier had been insane.
When the coffin opened, and that hand reached out, Ye Qing thought he was going to suffocate. If it weren’t for that ancient mirror, the entire Jun Mountain Village might have been shattered with a single slap.
“Didn’t expect that mirror to be so powerful?” Ye Qing thought about the mirror again. It was the one usually hanging at the village entrance, looking so plain, yet it turned out to have such overwhelming power.
“Huh, what’s this?”
Suddenly, Ye Qing noticed something on a withered grass stalk. It seemed to be stained with something, and under the sunlight, it emitted a dark red glow, almost like crystal.
“Is this… blood?” Ye Qing felt the overwhelming, terrifying aura of the blood drop, and instinctively pulled his head back. Then, as if remembering something, his eyes lit up. “Could this be the blood of the creature from the coffin? It must be!”
It was probably the blood that fell from the creature when it was struck by the light from the mirror.
Licking his lips, Ye Qing felt a surge of excitement. He looked around to make sure no one was paying attention to him and quickly took out a small bottle from his clothes. Originally, the bottle contained some salt, but he poured it out on the ground, then placed it under the withered grass. After giving it a light shake, the blood drop slowly slid into the bottle, and the withered grass remained spotless.
Feeling the overwhelming aura and pressure emanating from the blood inside the bottle, Ye Qing frowned. Even though the blood was in the porcelain bottle, he couldn’t hide its aura. This meant he couldn’t take the blood back without drawing attention. Not only would the three martial masters outside sense it, but even ordinary people could detect the presence of this powerful energy, putting him at risk of being exposed.
If anyone found out he was secretly keeping such a thing, things wouldn’t end well for him.
But he really needed this drop of blood. It could be the opportunity to survive the current crisis.
“Wait, the Guijing!” Suddenly, Ye Qing thought of the Guijing in his possession. He took it out and wrapped the porcelain bottle tightly. Sure enough, the aura of the blood disappeared completely, perfectly concealed.
“It works! Great!” Ye Qing felt a wave of relief as he stuffed the porcelain bottle and Guijing into his clothes, pressing it close to his heart.
“Heh heh…”
Just as he finished hiding the bottle and Guijing, a strange sound reached his ears. A strong, stinging smell of blood hit his face.
Ye Qing instinctively looked up and saw a blood-soaked face staring back at him.
“Ah…”
Ye Qing gasped in horror. He recognized this face as one of the villagers who hadn’t managed to retreat into their houses in time and had been drenched in blood.
Now, the villagers, seemingly devoid of reason, reached out to grab Ye Qing.
Without thinking, Ye Qing grabbed a stone from the ground and smashed it into the villager’s head. Then, using the force, he charged forward, knocking the villager to the ground.
But the villager beneath him seemed completely unaware, struggling violently and opening its mouth to bite Ye Qing.
