I Became a Law School Genius – 75

I Became a Genius Law School Student Episode 75
The briefing session was held on a Friday evening.
Fortunately it was the end of all lectures so no one was unable to attend due to academic issues.
Anyway we decided to get together with people we knew who were going to school and go there.
The members are: I Hanseol Yoo Taewoon and Yoo Yeseul.
Lee Ha-ru said she was not interested in working at a law firm and left while Kim Seung-pil walked away saying he had something else to look into.
“I will take you there.”
Thanks to this I went comfortably in a corporate vehicle driven by a Taejong employee.
“Do you have anything? “You’re the master of Yuseong Group.”
“Because I lived a long time as a child I gave away.”
“Ah ah….”
I couldn’t help but smile bitterly at Han Seol’s question.
Recently through various events I began to be recognized by Park Geon again but it was literally just the beginning.
My position within the family has not yet reached the level where I can summon servants at will.
‘Driver Choi only comes when Park Geon sends him…’
It was a rumor that seemed to be somewhat apologetic but since I did not personally experience the life of the original Park Yoo-seung it was not something I should worry about.
Rather.
“But you managed to call an employee. “It’s nothing else but going to a competitor’s briefing session.”
Considering that Yoo Ye-seul was King Taejong’s successor it was strange so I spoke out the question that came to mind.
“It’s the opposite. “It’s even more usable because it’s a route to a competitor.”
Yu Ye-seul shook her head.
“What my father expected when he sent me to law school was not just to obtain a certificate. “It’s important to make friends with excellent classmates.”
Securing connections. That’s not a very difficult story to think about.
What could be better for a law firm if it could secure powerful talent and bring them into King Taejong’s arms?
“But what is more important are the talents that we cannot embrace as King Taejong.”
“Can’t you embrace it?”

“yes. “You said that they are the ‘real’ connections that will allow you to reach places that cannot be reached with King Taejong’s power alone.”
‘indeed.’
I was deeply impressed.
Simply recruiting outstanding talent to your company is not the answer.
On the contrary if you have made a sure kite it is not a bad idea to send it out to play in bigger water.
They have spread to courts prosecutors other large law firms and the legal teams of key companies and will become reliable allies in difficult times.
“And I am sure that you are.”
Even if we really go to Jin & Ahn being good to them now will pay dividends later.
‘It’s a perspective I’ve never thought about.’
Ye-seul Yoo was a capable resource who grew up receiving training to take over the position of CEO of a law firm.
“We have arrived.”
“thank you. “They say it will take about 3 hours so please wait nearby.”
The staff who dropped us off in front of the Myeongjin Hotel followed our orders without any hesitation.
Yoo Ye-seul explained that in terms of work intensity it is much better from the employee’s perspective to be able to mess around in a cafe in the name of waiting rather than staying in the office and handling the unfinished business.
As I heard Myeongjin Hotel was dazzling from the outside.
In fact now that I was in Park Yoo-seung’s body I could have had fun in places like this whenever I wanted but I didn’t have time to throw it away like that so it was my first time actually seeing a 5-star hotel.
“How much did Jin & An spend today?…”
I could only nod my head at Han Seol’s muttering.
“Are you among those who came to the law school student practical trainee recruitment information session?”
As I was wandering around the banquet hall a man in a suit who appeared to be an employee of Jin & Ahn started talking to me.
“Yes that’s right.”
“You can go in here.”
As we entered as instructed there was a large banner hanging that read ‘Jin & Ahn Law School Student Practical Trainee Recruitment Information Session’.
The next thing that caught my eye was the seats.
‘Are the seats divided by law school?’
Looking closely I saw that each table had a sign with the name of the school written on it such as ‘Hankook University Law School’ and ‘Yonhee University Law School’.
Since applications were not received on an individual basis in advance it seemed that each school had already assigned seats.
“Shall we go that way?”
I pointed to a table relatively near the front.
In any case the places where the Hankook University Law School sign was erected were usually located in the very front of the venue and it was convenient to be close to the host to hear explanations or ask questions.
“Wow this chair is so soft.”
“Tea and refreshments are also set up. “This is a fairly expensive brand.”
Han Seol was impressed by the comfort of the seats and Yoo Ye Seul looked at the refreshments placed on the table.
Notebooks and pens with Jin & Ahn’s logo engraved on them were placed to match the number of people as if to jot down important information.
“I only heard about Jin & Ahn Jin & Ahn but I never thought they would spend so much money like this….”
Yoo Tae-un was also sticking out his tongue as he took in all of that.
For someone with the goal of resolving his family’s difficulties this was a point that made him even more passionate about confirmation.

However there was something that bothered me a little.
‘This batch this setting….’
In my previous life I was a student studying for the bar exam.
I knew quite a few seniors who took the exam first and some of them achieved the valuable result of passing the exam and became lawyers.
This means that I used to hear various stories about the legal profession directly or indirectly.
And when I think about combining all that valuable knowledge and the sights I see now…
“What are you doing?”
At that time a sharp voice echoed through the banquet hall.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Don’t act like a fool.”
When I turned to the epicenter of the commotion I saw an employee of Jin & An who had guided us earlier and a woman who looked to be in her mid-twenties arguing.
Judging by the fact that he was wearing a hooded zip-up from Yonhee University Law School he seemed to be a student there.
“This seating arrangement is clearly discriminatory!”
A Yonhee University student glared at the employee.
“It’s discrimination. “We can only go so far…”
“Separate seats by law school? is it so. It can happen. In the first place the official document itself was issued to each law school. In particular the tables allocated for Korea University Law School are tilted towards the front? “I guess it happened ‘by chance’.”
But she gritted her teeth.
“Isn’t this difference in treatment too blatant?”
The Yonhee University student pointed with one hand to the table where Korean University law school students like us were sitting.
The seats were equipped with luxurious soft chairs and expensive refreshments.
At the place pointed with the other hand there were tables for students from other law schools such as ‘Yonhee University Law School’ ‘Boseong University Law School’ and ‘Myeongryun University Law School’.
Although they were evaluated as being inferior to Korean universities they were all regarded as prestigious universities in the world.
However the tables assigned to them were in poor condition compared to ours so that we could recognize them at a glance.
The chairs were of the hard mass-produced type and on the table there was only a ballpoint pen let alone any refreshments.
‘Did they prepare our chairs separately and bring them over?’
Looking closely I saw that most of the remaining seats used the same chairs so it seemed like good chairs had been airlifted in just for the tables for the Hankook University Law School.
“We only paid attention to securing seats at Korea University. Treat the rest like cold rice. Are we just bridesmaids brought in to shine on the main character Hankuk University? “Did you send the briefing document with the intention of treating it like this?”
She burst out in exasperation.
“Is this the level of Jin & Ahn which is said to be the best law firm?”
‘That’s too much.’
It wasn’t a very nice sight.
It is not new that the legal profession has placed emphasis on academic background.
In this worldview Korean law school graduates have been playing royal games and forming lines among themselves since their law school days.
Although it has eased somewhat since the law school era began the trend of judging academic background has not completely disappeared.
If you just open the website of any large law firm and look at their personnel composition you will see that the vast majority of associates that is junior lawyers are graduates of Korea University Law School.
The next largest number are graduates of Boseong University or Yonhee University Law School which are evaluated as just below Hankuk University.
I had to turn the page for a long time to find the names of the remaining schools one by one.
The biggest reason is that clients who entrust work to law firms value signage.
Since they have no way to individually look at the lawyers who will handle the work they are entrusted with and distinguish their skills they judge their level based on signs that can be recognized just by looking at their profiles.
I nod my head thinking that the team in charge of my case would be the best team if it consisted of juniors from Hankuk University Law School and partners with bar exams who graduated from Hankuk University Law School.
However if it is made up of other schools you start to find fault with it.
– First you have to convince the client and discourage them from the signboard. Otherwise something that could be solved in one word would take ten or a hundred words making progress impossible.
I remembered a story a senior told me while drinking in my past life.
In any case given the situation the law firm’s position was not completely incomprehensible.
What if that is what the customer wants?
As a service provider there was no choice but to provide products and services that fit the needs.
So it is understandable that academic background is reflected in the hiring process.
“But this is a bit much.”
When I blurted out Han Seol and Yoo Tae-woon nodded.
“It is unpleasant to see discrimination shown in such a visible form. huh.”
“The kids at other schools are all talented and hard-working… but if it continues like this even those who are trying hard will lose their motivation.”
To be honest we were the beneficiaries of such behavior but it still felt bad. It wasn’t just because of some great sense of justice.
“It seems like the country is evaluated only by signs and not by people.”
What I especially didn’t like was this point.
They treat me well because it’s Korea University’s law school? In other words isn’t it true that my background is more important than what kind of person I am?
To be honest I was confident that I could beat all the students present.
I don’t know if the 3rd graders who were worn out exam warriors would know but it was difficult to find a 1st grader who reached my level even if they searched all over the country.
But the reason I was treated better than them was not because of my skills.
The only thing that mattered was that I came from Korea University Law School.
Even if Park Yoo-seung from the original had been sitting here instead of me it would have been the same and on the other hand if I had been from a different school I wouldn’t have been sitting in that chair or even been here in the first place.
That was like throwing my pride as a law student into the trash can.
In fact it’s not just me it’s probably the same for everyone here.
Because of this I was secretly rooting for the student who was protesting.
“Aren’t you guys embarrassed there?”
Until all of a sudden she came walking towards us and turned her arrow towards us.
“…Are you talking about us?”
“is it so. you.”
When I questioned her she glared at me as if she had been waiting.
“Korea University Law School relies on academic sectarianism and receives all kinds of preferential treatment without fair and square proof of ability. “It’s you.”
“No we…”
Hanseol was about to say something but closed his mouth.
It was a smart move. Right now this student was just pouring out his nowhere-directed anger.
In reality even if only one student protests the person in charge of Jin & Ahn will not come out and apologize and say ‘Oh my gosh we made a mistake’ or change the seating arrangement.
So in the end there are only two options given to her.
Either conform to the system or find someone else to hate.
‘That’s why it’s us.’
So it is meaningless to say that we are not happy about the current situation or that we sympathize with your anger.
To this student it would sound like the hypocrisy of vested interests.
In fact it is truly terrible considering that Yonhee University Law School is one of the best in the country and most of the 25 law schools in the country were not even invited to this event today.
“hey. Are you listening?”
His voice became more harsh perhaps because he thought he was being ignored.
‘Hehe indeed.’
I can relate to the motivation and message.
I also don’t like this kind of thing.
However dismissing someone you met for the first time as if they were some kind of evil force without even talking to them properly was not something to take very happily.
‘no. Rather it just happened to be good.’
Looking around it seemed like this argument had caught the attention of quite a few people.
My classmates at Hankuk University Law School sitting nearby as well as other law school students watching from a distance pretended not to be but their eyes and ears were all focused in this direction.
‘It means I didn’t prove my skills fairly.’
