I Became a Genius Law School Student Episode 40

The morning of the midterm exam finally dawned.

There is nothing to be afraid of.

This is because we have prepared so perfectly that nothing could be better than this.

I ran toward the school with flying steps and without a moment of hesitation I opened the door to the classroom designated as the exam room.

    But something is strange.

There are less than 20 minutes left until the exam starts and I am the only person in the classroom.

How long has it been since I sat idly waiting?

The door clicked open and a pale-faced Shin Seo-jun stuck his head in and shouted.

    “Midterm exams have been canceled!”

    No what do you mean?

“A murder occurred on campus. And Mr. Park Yu-seung. You are the number one suspect. “Please accompany me to the west.”

Murder case? That can’t be possible. There is still a lot of time left until the middle and latter parts of the original work.

Besides what does it mean that I am a suspect?

Rather Shin Seo-jun is a police academy graduate and not a current police officer so what right does he have to arrest me?

While all sorts of questions were floating around in my head my wrists were handcuffed.

A hard cool touch passed over my skin along with the cold metallic sound of clanking.

That moment when you struggle and wonder what kind of situation this is.

    “ah.”

I jumped out of bed vigorously kicking off the blanket.

    “…Was it a dream?”

I have never had a dog dream like this.

The stress accumulated from studying civil law right before going to sleep seemed to be the root of the problem.

I looked at the clock it was six thirty.

It was 3:30 a.m. when I decided to get some sleep to recover so I only slept for three hours.

“No it’s not a complete dream.”

It is true that the second half of the original story took a sharp turn with a plot full of suspense so there were murder cases and political secret struggles.

And concerns about this were always in the back of my mind.

In any case all cases are solved by the main character Shin Seo-jun.

The culprit is arrested the dark side is destroyed and Hankook University Law School returns to a peaceful place of learning.

    That is an obvious fact.

However ‘solving’ a case also means that the incident will eventually occur.

The main character’s activities continue only after someone has already been injured suffered or even died.

    You can’t criticize that.

Because the main character does not know the future.

The problem is that I know everything that will happen in the future.

Even though we know that a tragedy is happening with people dying we cannot turn a blind eye.

Why did I want to become a prosecutor?

Wasn’t it to change the world to be a little less absurd even within my reach?

So the reason why I am currently avoiding getting involved with the main story as much as possible is not just self-reflection.

If everything goes as planned it will not be that difficult to prevent the catastrophe that will befall Hankuk University Law School.

All you have to do is wait wait and intervene very slightly ‘just once’ at the most critical moment.

Therefore for now I am focusing on living my life faithfully as a law school student.

Study build your skills and prepare for various things.

To fulfill my long-standing dream that has continued since my past life and for this whole story to lead to a better ending.

To do that I had to first overcome the hurdle of the midterm exam.

Anyway I guess the sleep was gone. I decided to go to school a little early and finish studying.

As I was getting ready to leave I checked today’s horoscope on my smartphone.

You may think it’s surprising but since the days of the bar exam there have been quite a few people in the legal profession who lean towards shamanism or superstition.

After going through a long and arduous life of taking exams where success or failure cannot be guaranteed everyone needs someone to lean on.

It was quite ironic that a person who seemed to be more rational and logical than anyone else was one of the main customers who supported shamans.

I who say this was no exception.

    [Today’s fortune!]

[Please enter your date of birth name and gender.]

As I turned on the fortune telling app I suddenly realized an important fact.

“…Should I include Park Yoo-seung’s or mine in this?”

The soul is mine but isn’t the body Park Yoo-seung’s?

But when I thought about it carefully I didn’t even know Park Yoo-seung’s date of birth anyway.

Which webtoon in the world would introduce the birth dates of extras that are used once and then put away?

Without any choice I entered my original information and pressed Enter.

[Wealth: Good. Health: Average. Business: Best. Affection: Good.]

[You have always worked hard! Today is the day to receive that reward. People you have a bad relationship with may try to block you but even that will come as unexpected luck.]

    [Lucky item: Apple flavored candy]

    “Is it good?”

The ‘business’ part of this fortune-telling app covers areas related to studying or exams.

It was quite auspicious that the best not the best emerged there.

Perhaps because I got some sleep my physical condition wasn’t too bad.

I took out a handful of apple candy from the candy container on my desk.

This app’s ‘lucky items’ appear in rotation within a set list.

Naturally I stocked up on all the lucky items.

If you’re going to read your fortune it’s easier to follow it perfectly.

When I arrived at school there were familiar faces sitting side by side in the hallway on the first floor of the law building.

He waved his hand at Hanseol who looked more disheveled than usual.

    “You came early?”

“huh? Oh it’s you. “I thought there would be traffic if I came during rush hour so I just woke up early and took the first train.”

Hanseol answered with a tired face.

“How about preparations? “Is everything going well?”

“I think that ruined me. “I couldn’t memorize a single thing.”

    “you? “That can’t be possible.”

“It’s true. “I’ve only read it 10 times.”

    ’10th reading… out there…?’

Today’s subject is Civil Law III.

Including all the lecture notes and supplementary materials for previous exam questions it was by no means an easy volume.

After turning it over 10 times what on earth does ‘outside’ mean?

Even though there was no such deception it also meant that he was perfectionistic.

When it comes to preparing for a test Hanseol doesn’t stop until he has hit all the letters in the range into his head.

It doesn’t matter if you read it 10 times or 20 times.

Repeat until you can recite the entire text as if it were scanned.

However since there is so much law involved even she would not have enough time to prepare thoroughly.

    “Hey.”

However what is obnoxious is obnoxious.

I peeled the candy I brought and shoved it into Hanseol’s mouth to prevent him from crying any further.

    “town?”

Surprised Han Seol’s eyes became round like a rabbit.

Who told you to lie like that?

Lee Ha-ru who had been dozing off next to him rubbed his eyes and asked in a mumbling voice.

    “Oh what is that?”

“candy. It tastes like apples. “Do you want one too?”

    “I want to eat.”

I opened one and handed it to him and he ate it like a sparrow.

“But why are you here at this hour?”

“Stay here all night. “A 1-day criminal law warrior’s exciting cramming operation.”

    “What the heck….”

Lee Haru was still lazy and prone to tricks but he was still more motivated to study than before.

First of all when he was a free agent it was impossible for Lee Haru to voluntarily stay up all night to study.

‘Maybe it’s because of the game.’

Maybe it was influenced by the experience of developing raw ink and receiving praise for it.

In fact it was mentioned that Lee Ha-ru in the original work would become successful in the field of Legal Tech (a legal service industry that applies cutting-edge Legal Tech technology) after graduation.

She has a lot of work to do in the future. This change was very positive and enjoyable.

So we read the material we each prepared until just before the exam checked our memorization one last time and then moved to the designated exam room.

    ‘It’s quiet.’

    The examination room was quiet.

The crunching sound of a pen. The sound of tapping a laptop.

There was complete silence except for the slight noise that inevitably accompanies the study process.

In any case as bright students from all over the country were gathered there was not a single person in this group who was not serious about taking the exam.

Everyone was concentrating on their studies praying that they would be able to write at least one more line on a problem.

After looking around for a moment I catch my breath.

    ‘Now it’s really starting.’

The first regular semester exam after coming to this world.

Therefore it had a special meaning.

It wasn’t necessarily because of the bet with Park Geon.

Free first evaluation? It was a test that I solved without any preparation relying only on my faded old memories and improvisation.

Message test? Of course the volume was quite large but it was only part of the evaluation process at Free Lo and in the end it was nothing more than a paper test.

There were many competitors who did not prepare with all their heart or whose talents had not yet fully blossomed.

The second evaluation was also the same.

Strictly speaking it was not a proper ‘law exam’.

Aren’t these problems like hiring an investigator who doesn’t require memorization at all but instead has to find contradictions between facts?

A real competition where everyone fights with all their might after spending the same amount of time and maximum preparation.

This midterm exam was the first hurdle in the process that I had to go through tirelessly in the future.

Because I knew this I never wasted a single minute or second.

Not only did we stop at rehabilitation training to regain our former skills but we also worked hard to keep up with the advanced legal theories and precedents.

To be honest I think we have now achieved some results.

However I had no intention of letting down my guard or being reckless.

With the humble attitude of starting over I just put what I have accumulated on the test paper.

“The exam will start soon. Please insert all the materials you are reading and turn off any electronic devices in advance to avoid making them make noise. “We will hand out numbered tickets and check your ID.”

The teaching assistants who came in soon announced the impending exam.

My heart pounded and my heart raced.

No matter how thoroughly you prepare or rather the more thoroughly you prepare the trembling and excitement of this moment will always be new.

Nervousness is never a sign of lack of skill or weakness.

It just shows how seriously you are taking it.

I did not relax until the teaching assistant checked my ID and placed the test paper and answer sheet on my seat.

    First midterm exam.

How many difficult and tricky problems are lurking within this?

My hand which had naturally strengthened and stiffened trembled while holding the test paper.

“Let the exam begin. Please turn the page.”

I opened the test paper with the teaching assistant’s instructions.

    ‘What is this?’

I was so dumbfounded that I dropped the test paper.

    ‘…is it too easy?’

The test paper I picked up with great nervousness was full of only very familiar questions.
