I Became a Genius Law School Student Episode 2

The first episode of the webtoon ‘In the Law School’ begins with a scene from the pre-law opening ceremony at Hankuk University Law School.

To put it simply freelo is a type of prior learning period conducted at the school level before admission.

As students of various majors who did not learn law in undergraduate school are admitted this gives them the opportunity to adapt to the unfamiliar discipline of law before beginning full-scale studies.

Of course there are exceptions everywhere.

“There will be an oath for new students. Student representative Shin Seo-jun!”

Shin Seo-jun the main character of ‘In the Law School’ walked hurriedly towards the auditorium.

With a tall height that seems to be well over 180 his neatly handsome face and wide shoulders catch the attention of many of his classmates.

With the establishment of law schools undergraduate law courses almost disappeared from top universities.

However the National Police University a special university still maintained a law department and Shin Seo-jun graduated from the law department at the top of his class.

This was the reason why he was able to maintain the unwavering top ranking among first-year players.

Shin Seo-jun quickly catches the mood among his classmates with his outstanding skills and friendly personality.

Naturally he had no choice but to receive the support of many classmates and he became the first-year representative of the student council and solved various incidents that occurred in the story.

Although he appears perfect at first glance he is a two-faced character who hides a dark story behind him.

“My pledge as an incoming student. However our law school students at Hankuk University….”

As the manly voice rang out gasps of applause flowed from everywhere.

I didn’t realize it when I first read it but this scene depicted most of the characters who would play important roles in the narrative going forward.

The woman with tied hair sitting in the row right in front of the podium is Han Seol the second speaker.

He is the type of ‘prodigy born’ who has been thoroughly managed and educated by his parents and later competes with the main character Shin Seo-jun for a position as a court trainee.

The short man sitting three seats behind pouring a handful of chocolate jelly out of his pocket into his mouth must be Jeong Min-sik a member of the third class.

In the beginning as a member of Shin Seo-jun’s study group he stands at the center of one of the main episodes the midterm exam question leak incident.

When he first appears he is portrayed as somewhat unlikable but in the end his nature turns out to be a good guy and he is a character who is of great help to the protagonist.

    And all these people I…

“Hey Park Yu-seung. Are you sleeping?”

    “…no.”

I was sitting in the same auditorium not off screen looking around.

    What should I hide?

    To conclude I was possessed.

In the world of the webtoon ‘In the Law School’ in the body of ‘Park Yoo-seung’ a third-rate villain who gets into a fight with the main character and then leaves.

When I woke up this morning in a room I had never seen before in the body of a stranger everything was confusing.

The face of over 30 years old with all the hardships I had gone through so far stuck to me had disappeared somewhere.

I was glaring at the young man with a somewhat disheveled expression in the mirror and soon realized that it was Park Yoo-seung’s face.

    Have you been reincarnated?

What was the voice of your junior that you heard before losing consciousness?

    What is that guy?

There were more than one or two questions that came to mind but I decided to put them away for now.

It was a problem that could not be answered immediately anyway.

There was something else more important than that.

Park Yoo-seung enters the law school of Hankuk University along with the main character and his companions.

In other words it meant that I had been given the ‘opportunity’ that I had longed for.

    Third-rate villain? Rather good.

Park Yoo-seung was born into a very wealthy family but due to his unsatisfactory personality he was treated as a child given away and neglected.

There are no financial problems or family responsibilities.

It was an environment where you could study to your heart’s content as the main character would solve the events that occurred in the original work on his own.

“Do you look like you’re in a good mood?”

The guy sitting next to me spoke again.

What was your name? In the original work the role was to stand next to Park Yoo-seung and laugh at the main character…

    I don’t remember very well.

Not only the name but I don’t even know how he became close to Park Yoo-seung.

In order not to arouse unnecessary suspicion we had to avoid talking further.

At that moment a good excuse came along.

    “Well… ah it’s here.”

“What do you mean you came?”

    “Director of Beopjeonwon.”

    thud. thud.

The old floor of the pulpit resonates.

Students who had been dozing off or chatting with the people next to them suddenly came to their senses.

Everyone’s attention is drawn to a person standing on the podium.

The person standing at the end was an old man of short stature.

But its presence was by no means small.

His graying hair seemed to be filled with grandeur and his sparkling eyes gave off a sparkle that had not faded over time.

Even the cane held next to one leg felt like a symbol of authority like a judge’s baton rather than evidence of discomfort.

Former Supreme Court Justice and Dean of Korea University Law School.

    Professor Changsoo Kang was there.

    “You guys.”

Without any introduction the director of the Beopjeon Center opened his mouth quietly as if such a thing was not necessary in the first place.

“You must be very proud of yourself now. Is that correct?”

The sound of a yes came out sporadically.

“The reason is that I passed the difficult entrance exam and was accepted into Korea University Law School the best law school in Korea. You have proven yourself to be a genius within the top 1%. Is that correct?”

The voice saying yes got a little louder.

    “No you’re wrong.”

But the old law director shook his head.

“Because there is no such thing as a genius in law.”

    Suddenly silence came.

“Law is a universal study. Maybe it’s Dunjae’s study. A person who reads and writes more harder and more intensely will definitely achieve higher achievement. “I will ask.”

The head of the Law Center raised his hand.

“Among these I have experience preparing for the bar exam.”

I flinched for a moment but didn’t raise my hand.

Even if it were me in real life there is no way a bastard named Park Yoo-seung would have prepared for the bar exam.

I glanced around and as expected no one was raising their hand.

“Raise your hand for having experienced or passed an examination requiring law such as the Administrative Legislative Examination.”

    This time too.

“I have acquired professional qualifications that include law subjects including accounting and patent attorney.”

    This time too.

“After graduating from the law department I have successfully completed at least the 7 basic laws.”

This time one person Shin Seojun raised his hand.

“One person. Only one out of 150 admitted students. Of course that is possible. “Our law school at Hankuk University admits many young and bright students with bright futures.”

However the head of the Beopjeon Center got lucky.

“There are many law schools out there that don’t do that. “There are also places that gather people who have already obtained a professional license or passed a civil service examination to produce output.”

    It was an unvarnished reality.

“Their test books are already worn out and tattered. But if you were to face them now with your legal skills would you be a match?”

Of course it won’t work. The head of the Law Center shook his head.

“You are excellent and smart. You are young and the potential for growth is endless. But no that’s why you are the group that lags behind the most in the country at least when it comes to the law exam.”

    The rumbling sound spreads.

Well it had to be that way.

Because the people who gathered in this place were elites who had been told that they were excellent their entire lives.

“But you don’t need to worry.”

As if to stop this the head of the Law School declared.

“Korea University Law School teaches you to overtake those who have gone before you. “If I were to ask you now what the statute of limitations is you would be dumb but when I graduate I will be familiar with all the latest precedents and complex legal principles of the Seven Laws and become an expert who can resolve any issue.”

    We will make it happen.

“So believe and follow me. This two-week pre-law school will be the beginning. more.”

    * * *

    “Aren’t you crazy?”

“Are they the kind of people who will hear us say that we are falling behind?”

“Honestly even if the kids in the junior high school studied a lot I think they would all catch up in half a year. Why are you scaring me like that?”

The head of the Beopjeon Center left the auditorium leaving behind only the announcement ‘Free time until 6 o’clock.’

This was the reason why students gathered in groups of twos and threes and were full of chatter.

Most of the new students who appear in ‘In the Law School’ are graduates of Korean universities and have already become acquainted with each other through the law school entrance academy or the school’s law society.

So it wasn’t that strange that they were already hanging out together as if they were friendly.

However the sense of elitism exuding from the content had a part of it that made listeners feel uncomfortable.

Even in the original work the pure-bloodism of Korean University graduates became a spark that spread into a major conflict in one of the main episodes the Jain legal argument.

“Wow law school won’t be easy.”

“But you still have to work hard. Everyone came together after taking the difficult entrance exam because they wanted to study law. haha.”

Of course there were not only those who had poor taste in food but there were also many who shared feelings of anticipation and excitement like young people just starting a new life.

The four main characters from the original were already hanging out next to the main character Shin Seo-jun.

It seemed likely that future developments would follow the original story.

‘Kang Chang-soo’s speech was also the same as the original.’

It was a scene I quite liked.

The fact that the person who worked harder and studied more in law is the better because it was consistent with my belief when I was a bar exam taker.

Just because you’re a smart guy doesn’t mean you can get by with less reading.

It’s just that in the time other people read a book once you can read it two or three times.

Anyway if everything that happens in the future follows the original episode there was only one thing I had to do now.

    Tuk.

I rummaged through my bag took it out and placed it on the desk integrated with the seat.

    [Civil law knot]

This is an exam book called ‘Minmae’ an abbreviation for the knot of civil law. Originally it had a slightly different name in the world but perhaps due to copyright issues it became the name of the civil law knot in the webtoon.

    That’s right.

    I have to study.

    And right now!

There is no need to go looking for someone to group up with like everyone else.

The guys that Park Yoo-seung knows or will get to know are all bad guys anyway.

In fact there were a few guys including the guy I was talking to earlier who approached me with a sly look but I shook them all off and took refuge in a corner.

Rather I was in a hurry to study.

There is a past where I received a score close to passing on the bar exam but that was already more than 10 years ago.

Moreover those 10 years were just 10 years.

It was a time when I was forced to build a wall between myself and study and work until I died.

It has been a long time since all my meager study skills were swept away across the river of forgetfulness.

“Especially when I think about ‘what’ comes next….”

What could be salvaged from the river had to be recovered immediately.

The test book that I opened after a long time felt familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.

General provisions of civil law Real rights law Bond law Relative inheritance law….

The table of contents in the welcome Pandecten system was filled with old memories of studying it.

The moment I passed the principle of good faith and moved into a single room in Sillim-dong and excitedly pledged to pass the exam.

When I look through the creditor cancellation I remember the taste of the tear-soaked cup rice I went down to the cup rice restaurant on the first floor with an exhausted body.

In other words the things that are actually necessary have been completely forgotten.

Of course there was nothing left.

Was this something like this in the beginning? After reading a bit the concepts I wanted to remember came back to me thinking “Yes that was true.”

Before I knew it the bookshelves that had been difficult to turn over seemed to have been blocked by something.

It was literally no different from rehabilitation training.

Just like an athlete who has been lying in a hospital bed for a long time starts by practicing how to walk I was reawakening my brain that had forgotten how to study.

    be pleasant.

Some people may point out that I must be crazy to enjoy studying law.

Of course that doesn’t mean that studying law wasn’t difficult or difficult for me.

Even now I feel like my head is going to explode trying to cram even one more letter into my brain.

But being able to enjoy such pain is also a grace and a blessing.

I know having been deprived of it once.

The weight of the tears shed because of not being able to study is much heavier and deeper than the weight of the sweat shed while studying….

The moment I was turning the pages of the book with a big smile on my face.

    “…!”

For some reason I felt eyes on me and raised my head.

At the end Professor Kang Chang-soo was looking at us with a mysterious expression.
