I Became a Genius Law School Student Episode 129

The entertainment program ‘High Flyer’ consisted of two main axes.

In charge of one axis are the six ultimately selected law school student interns. Their life as interns set at Chansol Law Firm is captured on camera.

The other axis is the panel consisting of celebrities and ‘special guests’.

The mission given to them was simple.

In each round interns perform tasks assigned by Chansol and are evaluated on their performance. The panelists carefully observe everything contained in the footage and choose the intern who Chansol’s partners ranked first for each task.

“of course! “The last episode is a little different.”

MC Chae Sang-il of ‘High Flyer’ explained.

“In the final week our mission is to figure out who the intern was that finally received confirmation. “It’s simple right?”

He was on the filming set now. Today is the first day of filming for the panel. Outside the set the staff was operating all kinds of cameras to capture Chae Sang-il on screen.

‘It’s been a while since I did a variety show with Channel A.’

I’ve been in the entertainment industry for 20 years. Chae Sang-il is now treated as a veteran MC. While hosting ‘High Flyer’ he was promised a fairly generous appearance fee.

‘I don’t know but Director Oh Hye-in seems to have high expectations for this program.’

That was something that could be easily guessed just by looking at the other cast members.

“What will I get if I guess correctly?”

The person who raised his hand and asked was Hong Yu-seol a lyricist specializing in idol songs. She successfully settled into the entertainment industry by showing off her amazing talent and sense of humor in Channel A’s previous work ‘Love Sign’.

“I heard there is a random gift every episode. “I’m already looking forward to it.”

Veteran actor Ahn Jeong-min received the message. He played a lawyer character in a recently aired drama and gained great popularity for that role. It seems that they probably recruited him with that image in mind.

All of the other panels were equally gorgeous. I don’t know but he must have been promised a considerable amount of money during the casting process.

‘Was this the next project planned by Team Leader Han?’

It was a famous story that Director Oh Hye-in’s success depended entirely on the skills of her production team. In particular the right hand man she trusts is Team Leader Han.

Due to Oh Hye-in’s personality of pushing people she once trusted to the end it was clear that she would not spare any support during the production process of this program.

    “now. by the way.”

Chae Sang-il organized his thoughts and changed the topic.

“We have a special guest today.”

“The main characters of this program are law school students right? What we also need to do is look at the performance and the responses of the lawyers and match the evaluation results.”

Chae Sang-il pointed to a door built on one side of the set.

“So we invited two experts one in psychology and the other in law. Please welcome us with applause!”

The door opened with a loud sound effect and two special guests walked out.

“This is lawyer Lee Sang-hoon. I used to be a judge at the Incheon District Court and now I have a small office in Seocho-dong. i look forward to.”

“This is Kim Do-hyeon a professor of psychiatry at Yonhee University College of Medicine. “This is my second time appearing on Channel A entertainment.”

Neither of them were unfamiliar faces at all. This is because they were often called in when broadcasting stations needed to recruit experts in each field.

Even Chae Sang-il had a memory of being on set with Professor Kim Do-hyun in another program.

From their point of view it is good because they can easily put their face stamp on the public and make their name known and it also saves the broadcasting station from having to separately recruit experts in the relevant field each time.

‘It’s a win-win relationship where both parties benefit.’

After the process of introducing the two people the panelists lightened the mood by exchanging various jokes with each other.

Since they were all people who often appeared on entertainment programs the process was very natural.

“Now then shall we get to the point?”

Then with Chae Sang-il’s signal a screen was laid on one wall of the set.

“We have prepared interview videos of six interns as data screens. “Let’s take a look together.”

A list of interns appeared on the screen and soon a video containing each person’s interview began to play in order.

[Park Yoo-seung first year law school student at Hankuk University]

[Go Ye-rin 1st year student at Myungryun University Law School]

[Chae Song-ha first-year student at Kyungnam University Law School]

[Ji-hyeok Jeon first year student at Ina University Law School]

[Seongmin Kim 1st year student at Yonhee University Law School]

[Na Sang-wook first-year student at Boseong University Law School]

‘I need to do a lot of editing.’

Chae Sang-il swallowed those sentiments inside. The length of the interview video is approximately 5 to 10 minutes per person. It wasn’t that long but the tempo would have been too long to be included in the broadcast as a whole.

When it actually airs only one or two impressive scenes and the interesting parts of the panelists’ reactions will be edited appropriately.

‘Then it will probably take about 10 minutes at most.’

In order to get a video that is only 10 minutes long you have to spend that much time on set.

It was something Chae Sang-il was already familiar with but being used to it didn’t mean he wouldn’t get tired.

    “How was it everyone?”

Of course he was disqualified as a professional only if he revealed his true intentions to the outside. Chae Sang-il raised the tension by shouting energetically and asked questions to the panelists.

“Ah was there any intern who felt that this person was unusual?”

    “I am intern Park Yoo-seung.”

    “Oh me too.”

“You all have similar thoughts. “I also have intern Park Yoo-seung…”

The first person the panelists pointed out as Lee Gu-dong-seong was Park Yoo-seung an intern at Hankuk University Law School.

“First of all the specs are overwhelming. The famous Jin & Ahn passed the top honors at Hankuk University Law School. Even people like me who don’t know much about the legal field know about Jin & Ahn.”

Ahn Jeong-min helped Hong Yu-seol’s words.

“The response was seamless. He is prepared to research the law firm in advance and even has the sense to lighten the mood by praising the achievements of the lawyer who came in as the interviewer. “I don’t think I’m the type that’s good at studying.”

    “It certainly was.”

    Chae Sang-il also agreed.

“Other interns seemed a little nervous but intern Park Yoo-seung was different. “It’s definitely not possible considering your age but it feels like you have a few years of social life to spare.”

“The answer to the last question was also interesting.”

Attorney Lee Sang-hoon also added a word.

“Actually it was a very difficult question to answer. As composer Hong Yu-seol said Jin & Ahn is the best law firm that everyone knows. What if a person who passed Jin & Ahn applied to my office? “If it were me I wouldn’t have come anyway so I would have kicked him out thinking no one would make fun of him.”

The panelists burst out laughing at his joke.

“I didn’t know you would take it that way. In some ways it can be said to be a head-to-head competition or a gamble. In fact the lawyers who came in as interviewers might have felt bad about it.”

    “I don’t know about that.”

    Professor Dohyun Kim smiled meaningfully.

“Was it really a gambling move?”

“What do you mean Professor Kim?”

    “Hmm it’s nothing.”

In response to Chae Sang-il’s rebuttal Professor Kim Do-hyun was speechless.

“I was just impressed because I thought he was smarter than I imagined.”

    ‘It’s not an average bet.’

Professor Kim Do-hyeon was secretly impressed.

‘Not only did he understand exactly what Chansol’s side wanted and overcome the crisis he took full initiative. ‘He’s a friend who knows how to use broadcasting.’

After that various stories were exchanged about other interns. From nonsense comments like someone’s eyes are unusual or their appearance is warm to quite serious evaluations of interview answers.

    “ah. “How is he?”

And the flow of the story inevitably flowed towards one person.

    “I mean intern Chae Song-ha.”

    “…aha.”

A strange atmosphere prevailed among the panelists.

“I never thought I would see you again like this.”

“It was famous Black Rose. “Isn’t there a song that Hong Yu-seol also worked on together?”

“The title song of the first album was a song I wrote. It was a job that left a good memory for me. Songha… Intern Chae Songha was very good at digesting songs so no matter how difficult the part was she did it with ease.”

In fact from the time the intern list was first revealed everyone’s attention was focused on Chae Song-ha.

I was just intentionally putting off mentioning it as if I was eating the most delicious part of the meal later.

As if to prove this the topic quickly turned to the story of Chae Song-ha.

    “I hope I do well….”

“Can I do well? “All of the interns are so competitive…”

Hong Yu-seol trailed off in a worried voice.

“What do you think Attorney Sang-Hoon Lee? “About intern Chae Song-ha.”

“To be honest it won’t be easy.”

In response to Chae Sang-il’s question Lee Sang-hoon shook his head.

“Practicing law is not an easy task. Intern Songha Chae has been working in a different industry for a long time so I wonder if he will be able to keep up…”

The expression was polite but in the end it was about whether a kid who used to be a celebrity would be a match for his competitors who only studied his entire life.

‘Yeah there’s no way it’s going to work out.’

Attorney Lee Sang-hoon was confident of that in his heart.

Although he was trying to portray a friendly image on broadcast Lee Sang-hoon was actually a person with a very strong sense of elitism as a lawyer. He passed the bar exam and even served as a judge.

‘The law is a tool that only selected people can handle. It’s not a literal translation that anyone can read.’

He didn’t really like the law school system itself in the first place. This is because it was thought that the threshold to become a lawyer was too low.

‘In the past people weren’t treated like people unless they graduated from Korea University’s law school.’

Nowadays people from all kinds of universities and majors are becoming lawyers through law school.

I already don’t like that so why would an idol who used to dance and sing learn law? In Lee Sang-hoon’s opinion it was an absurd statement.

‘If he gets first place on an assignment even once I’ll give him credit.’
